Joseph felt a bit lonely without friends but he was by now used to it.
“What a great way to start a new year without friends or someone to talk to.” thought Joseph sarcastically.
He had just finished class and was in free time. Joseph wanted to go back to the common room and just flop down on an armchair. That easier said than down. After a few twists and turns he realized that he had arrived at the Hogwarts grounds. As he went out to the grounds Joseph saw a very tall tree and a beautiful view of the lake. Joseph decided to climb the tree to admire the beautiful scenery in front of him. It reminded of times with his mother and father in the park looking at the lake. The lake at Hogwarts was frozen solid from the cold Scotland winter. Joseph scaled the tree easily. It was harder than climbing it in summer because the tree branches was very slippery. He almost slipped several times. If he slipped it would’ve been a disaster not only would he have to go to the hospital wing but he would also risk getting into trouble with his parents. Joseph finally climbed to the top branch. He dangled his legs off the tree. It brought a lot of pressure off of his legs. It was a beautiful view. He was pretty sure he saw a squid under the thin layer of see-through ice.

End of January and winter's still going strong. It's not unbearable, though, which leads Dora to tour the grounds when her classes end. Walking in the direction of the lake, she holds her journal to her side as she weaves between the tall bare trees. Maybe the cold quiet air will lend to a peaceful retreat for her to write down her thoughts.

So far, she hasn't written that much in her uncle's gift. Just a few written reminders to do work, jotted down in case she forgets an assignment. But, she already has a planner for that. This book should be something different. Something special. She just doesn't know what yet.

Seeing the lake's ice glistening in the distance, she picks a tree to sit beneath. Flattening out her skirt neatly, Dora kneels down with her back against the smooth bark and open the journal to a blank page. Fetching her quill and ink, she begins to pen her piece.

Hello. My name is Isadora Ramona Everridge, and I'm eleven years old. My uncle calls me Dora. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to write, so I guess I'll just write about my day.
Something snaps above her and she looks up, away from her writing. Dora expected to see a squirrel, a bird, or maybe just the tree as it creaks in the wind. Instead, surprisingly, she sees a figure way up high, balanced on a branch at the top of the tree.

"Oh my goodness!" She exclaims, getting to her feet.

Joseph looked and thought he saw an octopus. He moved to get a closer look and squinted at the ice. The branch he was sitting on cracked a little.
“I better start getting down” he thought.
When he looked down Joseph saw a pale Hufflepuff girl writing a letter. The branch that cracked had apparently made some noise that the girl had heard it. She looked up.
“Oh my goodness” she exclaimed.
”No need to get worried I do this almost everyday back in my home in the muggle world.” Joseph replied.
The girl looked at him with eyes that clearly said that she didn’t believe him.
“I can get down by myself just clear the space.” said Joseph a little bit annoyed.
He climbed down to the branch below him.
“See? Easy as pie.” He said. The branch above him cracked more. Joseph could see the crack marks already.
”I need to get the weight off of this side.”thought Joseph.
Joseph noticed that the branch below him a had a very large gap. The branch itself was very skinny. It
The gap was so big that he figured that he had to jump onto it. It weight of him would cause the weak small branch to collapse. The closest was on the other side of the tree. Joseph held on to the trunk and put his foot in a hole in the trunk and begin to climb.
When he made it to the branch Joseph was out of breath.
” I need to rest a little bit.” thought Joseph.
By now night was falling and he knew that he had to climb faster. Just when he was about to climb he heard a rustling of the leaves that didn’t fall during winter and autumn.

It's a shock to see someone up so high. Her first thought is that he must have ridden a broom to get up there, but there's no broom in sight. How did he climb up so high? There aren't even any branches Dora can reach! A frightful thought strikes her that he could be stuck up there. "Hello?" She calls up to him, worried. "Are you okay?"

The boy looks down at her and shouts back. ”No need to get worried I do this almost everyday back in my home in the muggle world.”

Her eyebrows knit together, her fears not exactly soothed. What kind of person risks his life like this every single day??

“I can get down by myself just clear the space.” He sounds a bit irritated, and that shuts Dora up. She should just pack up her things and leave him be, like he clearly wants. But even after picking up her belongings and walking a few meters away, she stalls. He's barely come down at all, and now he looks a bit tired. Dora paces for a bit, watching in trepidation. He could seriously get hurt if he were to misstep. He could break his neck, and it would be Dora's fault for not trying harder to help. Sighing, she works up the courage to call to him again.

"A-Are you sure you don't want me to get someone?" Surely a Professor could help, if not bruise his ego a little.

"A-Are you sure you don't want me to get someone?" the girl stuttered.
Joseph ignored her and continued to climb down. He went down another layer of branches. After going down three layers, he could finally see a glimpse of the ground. Joseph saw the girl pacing around which made him feel a bit guilty about ignoring her help. It turns out that looking at the girl was a bad decision as he forgot that he was on a tree Joseph almost slipped down and broke his neck.
”S***!” he said out loud as he stabilized himself.
Joseph slowly lowered himself onto the the thin branch. The branch started cracking and Joseph quickly moved onto the next branch.
“That was a close one.” thought Joseph.
By now Joseph was about halfway down the tree and he should have known that was a bad omen that he should have been more careful and payed more attention to the things on the branch and the trunk. He continued to clamber down tiredly. When he just had 4 branches left to climb, he accidentally slipped on some ice. Joseph tried to grab the tree trunk but it was too slippery. He fell down onto the rock-hard ground left knee first. Pain exploded through his knee.
Please don’t the staff in the hospital wing that I fell down from a tree. Tell him that I tripped on a rock. he pleaded with the girl.
Joseph’s parents would kill him if they found out that it was on his own accord he injured himself.

He keeps on climbing down, either ignoring her question or just not hearing her. 'What am I doing?' Dora thinks, 'He's probably fine, I should just go!' But she remains rooted to the spot, too nervous to take her eyes away. 'Okay, okay. I'll just watch and wait until he's down safely.'

'Or is that weird? Am I weird?'

As she inwardly debates herself, she nearly misses it when he slips on a branch. She freezes as he wavers, hearing him shout an expletive as he tries to regain his footing. Thankfully, he does, and he's more than halfway down now.

Dora sighs, her anxiety creeping up. All she'd wanted to do was relax a little and figure out her journal before she needs to study. Now she's all worked up over a boy she doesn't even know because he decided it was a good idea to climb the tallest tree he could when there's ice and snow all over its branches.

...Okay. So, she may be a bit annoyed.

The irritation melts away altogether in the horrifying moment the boy falls. Dora gasps as he slips on one of his last branches, landing painfully on his knee. She runs forward and stands over him, her hands hovering without knowing what to do. "Oh my, are you alright??" No, of course he isn't! He might have broken his leg! "We need to get you to the school nurse!"

"Please don’t the staff in the hospital wing that I fell down from a tree. Tell him that I tripped on a rock."

That's what he's worried about?? "Just- Come on, give me your arm!" She says, helping him hobble over to the hospital wing.
