Dearest Rhys,
How are you, darling? Are you settling in well? I do hope so. I know both your brothers took to Hogwarts like fish to water, but you are very different from both of them, and I do worry that perhaps you aren't transitioning as easily as they did to Hogwarts life. From the owls they've sent, it seems that things are going alright? Rhain said that you're yet to really make a friend (or any), which I hope will change as well. Your first year at Hogwarts might be a bit hard to adjust to and get through at first, but I do believe that making a friend or two would be good for you.
Do write back, won't you? Don't leave this letter (or owl,) to be discarded somewhere without a second thought. Rhain and Rhun have been owling me about your adjustment to Hogwarts life, but nothing's better than your own account.
Your father wishes you well, and would have owled along with this one had he not had a trial to attend to (something to do with Gringotts? Dear me, I truly have no idea.) But you'll find that Rhylee's written a letter as well, and dearly anticipates a response.

Hiiii! How's Hogwarts? Mum said she thinks you're doing fine, which I also believe because you do everything well. I really miss you-- it's very lonely here at home without you, with Mum and Dad always busy with their work.. I might convince them to let me get a cat or something to keep me company. Nothing like a good old guilt trip to do it.
Have you got a pet yet?? If you do, will you name it after me? Rhylee is a good name for either a boy OR a girl, I'm just saying. (But so is Rhain or Rhun.. but you obviously like me best out of the three of us, right?)
Also let me know if Rhain or Rhun are giving you trouble, and I'll write them a strongly worded owl myself. I mean, not like they'll listen to a nine-year-old, but still.
Anyways, tell me how Hogwarts is going! Paint me a picture to keep in my head until I'm able to go there myself.

Rhys sighed as they set down the owls they'd received from home. Their mother was... definitely something, what with practically begging them to make a friend and to write back. They were also somewhat peeved with their brothers for reporting back to their mum about how well they were "adjusting" to Hogwarts. As if they knew anything about how Rhys was settling in. They'd hardly even talked to them since they got there, going out of their way to avoid them (which really was unnecessary and particularly hard to do, considering they were all sorted into the same house.)
As if they even knew anything about Rhys in general.
There was a lot that Rhys's brothers and family didn't know, and they planned to keep it that way. They didn't know that they identified as non-binary/genderfluid most of the time, they didn't know that they were panromantic ace.. They didn't know anything. All they knew was that they decided to chop their hair off at, like, 4 a.m. a few weeks ago, and that they wouldn't respond to their owls or participate in the overly positive tone in the letters they (somewhat) exchanged back and forth with their mother and sister. Occasionally, their father would write, but after the fiasco at King's Cross, they didn't expect him to. Rhys's father wasn't one for keeping pretenses, either.
Sighing, Rhys pocketed the owls, deciding to write back at a later time and to ignore them both for the time being. If their mother knew, at least she should appreciate that Rhys wasn't ignoring only her owl.
That, at least, was something to acknowledge, right?
