A New Friend?
Harper had just walked out to the Great Lake, she had recently found this spot to be rather comforting. Plus, it had such a lovely view of Hogwarts she couldn't help but want to come here to see it. She found a place to sit where some rocks were that seemed to be making perfect chairs, as if they were inviting young witches and wizards to sit upon them.
She quickly dusted off the snow on one of the rocks and then sat upon it. She was all bundled up in her winter gear so she didn't mind that it was snowing. She was so warm in her coat and such that she didn't even realize that it was so cold.
She watched as the snow dropped into the lake, the water was not quite frozen, making the snow melt on impact. Harper thought this was such a cool and interesting site, she could just sit and watch it happen for hours upon hours. Nature had been one of Harper's newfound fasinations she hadn't realized how much beauty she had been missing out on and it was quite humbling to come out and view all of the natural beauty that nature has to offer, during all of the seasons. Though, winter was probably among her favorites.

A New Friend?
Lucien Snow Pitch, a new first-year student roamed around Hogwarts with widened eyes. He had always enjoyed nature and beautiful places and Hogwarts was a feast for his eyes. He had no friends yet and was waiting for someone to approach him. But unfortunately, every single student seemed to be busy with their newly found friends and it made things awkward for Lucien as he was never the type to interrupt another's conversation.
'For merlin's sake,' Lucien quietly cursed on his own introverted behaviour. Knowing that he would feel uncomfortable more with the time, he decided to get some fresh air from outside. But little he did know was his little expedition would make him a new friend.
He put his hands in his pockets and started his little expedition around Hogwarts and oh boy, he was fascinated by Hogwarts. He loved that huge library filled with books and seeing the trophy room, Lucien's eyes became widened with excitement. After exploring the castle, he decided to go outside the castle.
He tightened the warm scarf on his neck and began to explore the outside world. In no time, he reached the Great Lake and it looked beautiful with half-molten snow in it. He started to walk beside the lake while kicking some small stones into the lake.
In no time, he found a larger rock and the wanting to kick that rock became worse. He looked around to see if there is anyone else and then he spotted a girl who is sitting by the lake. Lucien blinked and was gonna go away but he was in need of a friend so badly. So, he walked softly towards the girl trying not to break her chilling mood.
"Uhh, Hi" Lucien said awkwardly, cringing to himself at how he spoke and the girl turned to him immediately to find Lucien smiling sheepishly.

A New Friend?
Harper was so caught up in watching the snowflakes fall perfectly onto the lake that she hadn't even noticed Lucien come up. That is, until he said hello to her, which unfortunately led to a jump from her. However, she shook it off and pulled her hat down on her ears a bit more.
"Hello there! I am Harper Jordan! Apologies that I didn't see you I was so absorbed in the lake. It's so beautiful watching the snowflakes drop onto it when it's all frozen over like this. Anyways! It's nice to meet you! What's your name? As she spoke the last sentence she extended her hand out to shake with this boy that had just approached her. She loves to meet new people, even if she never saw them again, or only saw them in passing. And of course at Hogwarts she always had that opportunity to do so. There never seemed to be a shortage of people to meet. There were people in the halls, if she dropped her books.... Someone was always there to help her pick them up... This school was much larger than any she had seen before. But, she liked the fact that it felt like both a home and a school all wrapped up in one. It made the school that much more enjoyable for her.

Lucien nearly jumped forward when he saw the girl almost stumbled, surprised by his sudden intrusion. He mentally slapped himself as he never wanted her to be surprised in a bad way. But nevertheless, she shook it off and greeted him with a pleasant smile which made him smile slightly as well.
"A big hello to you too, Harper!! I am Lucien Snow Pitch and I am a new student. Also, please do not apologize for being enticed by the beauty of the environment around the Great Lake. They are indeed a feast to my eyes too" Lucien said with a smile while shaking his hands with her while appreciating her kind gesture. "It is nice meeting you too by the way" He chuckled and sat on the nearest rock while dramatically signalling Harper to sit down on the rock behind him.
Lucien was popular in his mundane life to be dramatic and not everyone fancied that habit of his. But not everyone disliked it either. Lucien loved meeting new people and the behaviour of different people never ceased to amaze Lucien. He loved interacting with people even though sometimes it tired him out.

A New Friend?
Harper smiled and nodded. "I also don't get around much and socialize with other students at Hogwarts. I'm very glad to meet you and get this opportunity to socialize." Harper stated in her awkward tone. She had always been a bit of an awkward person when it came to social interaction and that was likely why she found herself not doing it very often.
Harper let out a little chuckle when Lucien had mentioned that he wasn't very good at keeping up conversation. She found it to be funny that he was apologizing to her because she was sort of the same way herself.
"Please do not apologize for that. I am the same way myself." She stated hoping her words would make him feel a little bit better about his awkwardness.
"So how are you liking Hogwarts so far? What's your favorite class?" She asked speaking rather quickly and excitedly. She had a love for reading and learning as a Ravenclaw and always found it cool to find out things about others like their favorite subject. Her favorite thing to talk about in school was actually... Well... School. Many others didn't seem to be that way but Harper couldn't get enough knowledge. She was seldom seen without at least one booking her hand. The only reason she didn't have any with her now was because it was rather snowy out and she didn't want to ruin any of her books.

Lucien blinked and chuckled to himself at, finding himself an introverted acquaintance, but did he mind it?? No, he absolutely didn't mind it. He had found someone who understood his situation and he loved it. "Wow, we both are very awkward. Now, we can be awkward together" He stated while snickering.
Regardless of being slightly awkward (as of course, being the most awkward person in the world award goes to Lucien), Harper tried her best to maintain their conversation, which Lucien was very grateful for. He never understood how to maintain a conversation. When Harper asked him how he felt about Hogwarts and what was his favourite class, Lucien saw how much Harper loved talking about Hogwarts. Her eyes glittered with excitement and joy.

Then I stepped out to see the surroundings and to enjoy it. I loved the setting here and then I saw you. So, here I now, with you, socializing proudly" Lucien grinned and started to play with a little stone that he found.
Then, Lucien pondered for a second. 'What was his favourite class??' He attended many classes indeed and studying was boring for him most of the time. He hated being in one place for too long but he loved attending some classes. He loved learning about new things indeed but sometimes it bore him out of his mind when it comes to attending some lectures.
"I enjoyed Astronomy classes a lot because our class arrangement was so cool and it gives out the best views of the night sky. Then really loved herbology because I love exploring nature and knowing stuff about many plants. Some plants were super scary but wonderful at the same time" Lucien explained to Harper with a smile stretching up to his ears.

A New Friend?
Harper smiled with joy hearing Lucien talk about his adventures so far at Hogwarts. She was a half blood, her father's side carrying a long line of witches and wizard's but her mother side did not. So, she got the best of both worlds when it came to her growing up. She felt quite fortunate in that aspect. She would hear all kinds of stories about Hogwarts from her father, which only fueled her excitement. Even now as a second year it seemed like there were always new places to explore and have fun with.
Harper nodded as she listened to Lucien talk, hearing that he also enjoyed Herbology! That was her favorite subject for sure.
"Yes! I love Herbology as well! I always get that homework done first before any of my other classes. It's so fun learning about plants. Especially magic ones. I hope to do something with plants someday. Like as my job you know... They so interesting and there's still so much to discover. I just love nature though.". Harper said with a smile, and a genuine tone.
"So have you given any thought to signing up for a sports team? I joined the Broom Racing team and I have many a few friends because of that and it's great! Though you don't have to join Broom Racing or any sport for that matter, but it's definitely a cool and I ique way to branch out and make friends." Harper rambled on about it, not even realizing that she was doing it. She tended to do that when she was excited about something. She couldn't help it.

A New Friend?
Lucien's eyes went wild hearing that his new acquaintance found herbology interesting too and he grinned as Harper told him that she would choose a job related to plants in future. He had always liked nature and his fathers took him on various road trips. They taught him a lot about 'normal' plants and now he was learning magical ones too. He had always found peace with trees and had even planted many trees in his garden with the help of his dad.
When Harper asked him about doing sports, Lucien grinned sheepishly. "Actually, I don't really like to broom race even though I love watching it. I enjoy mundane games a lot though." Lucien said silently hoping that Harper wouldn't find him too much weird. But then he was somewhat weird too. Lucien used to play badminton with his mundane friends and he was pretty good at it. Then his dad taught him a little bit of sword handling to him too as his dad was a pro at sword fighting.
