IRENE STOOD idly in the middle of the lounge, wringing her hands as she waited for the other members to arrive. Perhaps she shouldn't have made a club after all; how was she sure that anyone would show up? She had never met these people informally before, they had simply signed up and then left. Maybe they had done it as a joke.

Now the panic had begun to set in as she looked around the empty room. She had set up everything; a simple portable chalkboard sat in the middle of the lounge, the words VAC MEETING #1 written in bold lettering across the top in white chalk. Some art supplies were sitting in a wicket basket on one of the side tables, and the other one had a few art pieces she had made herself as an example of what they would be doing. A sculpture of an owl painted Spanish gray stared back at her with beady black eyes, a framed painting propped up against it. It was a portrait of her mother playing the piano. She did not know what to feel about the portrait; many had told her it was breathtaking, but she disagreed.

She checked her watch, then the clock; it was only a few minutes until six. People should show up any minute now. She sighed, sitting down on a wide tufted ottoman, her head in her hands.

Gavin, for all the adventures he seemed to favour, was an artist at heart. It was no doubt because of his father, who despite having gone to Hogwarts had gone into the art field. The man had taught Gavin basically everything he knew about art. Anything he hadn't, Gavin had been figuring out himself. Thus, it was no surprise that he jumped at the opportunity when he saw a signup for a Visual Arts Club posted.

That was how he found himself, lingering outside a private lounge. He had a bag slung over his shoulder, his current sketchbook, pencils, a set of paints and brushes, and a camera tucked away in it. No doubt there would be art supplies in the lounge, but in his defence, he liked to have specific colours and his paint set already had some of those colours. It would be too much of a hassle to try and mix it again.

Briefly, he checked the contents of the bag to make sure everything was still there. It was. With that, the blonde walked in, the only betrayer of his awkwardness being the white-knuckled grip on the bag's strap.

The first thing he noticed when he entered the lounge was the framed portrait of some woman playing the piano. Having photography experience himself, he could admire the angle it had been taken at. Sometimes, that was the hardest part. In rapid succession, his gaze landed on the owl sculpture, the basket of art supplies, and the various other art pieces around the room. Whoever did them was quite talented. He could draw and paint, but 3D art had always kind of stumped him.

Finally, once he'd looked at all the art around them, he looked at the only other person currently in the room. She looked like a fellow firstie, rather lanky with golden curls and cool turquoise eyes. She looked well put together, but the wringing of her hands and the look in her eyes told him another story.

Well, if she is a first-year, I guess it makes sense. Starting a club had to be a lot on the shoulders of an 11-year-old.

"You're Irene Hatchet, right? The one who created the club?" After getting an answer, he would add, "I hope you don't mind that I brought some of my own art supplies. I'm sure that the ones you have are good quality, but sometimes it feels more comfortable for me to use supplies that have been in my hands before." Pencils were less important in that aspect of course, but when it came to brushes especially he liked to use his own...
