as guinevere sat in her last class of the day, charms class, she saw it was a relatively peaceful day, so guinevere, after she had finished her class, had decided to go for a stroll on the grounds to enjoy the weather.
she exited the main building from a small archway leading into the courtyard, and was about to proceed to the great lake to observe the giant squid thing when she heard someone exclaim that learning korean was so hard. being half-korean, guinevere immediately knew it was her time to flex her korean skillz be a nice slytherin and help them learn her language.
she spun on her heel to the direction of the shout, and noticed a first year ravenclaw boy poring over a book labeled "How to Speak Korean". she personally thought the hard part was the grammar, not the pronunciation. although that could be considered hard for new learners, too.
"Hey," she said, approaching the boy. "Heard you were having trouble learning Korean? I could help with that, if you'd like. I'm half-korean, so I'd say I'm qualified."
"i'm guinevere russetwood, second year slytherin. or, in korean, minji song. when did you start trying to learn korean?"

Truth be told, Oliver was startled by the sudden appearance of a second year slytherin. She introduced herself as a half korean by the name of Guinevere. “When did you start learning korean?” The slytherin had asked. “Couple days ago- some people say it's too ambitious. Others say it's just a stupid idea. To be completely honest, it is a bit ambitious- I really have no idea why I’m making myself go through this- the feeling of learning something new I guess.” He said to her, how impolite of him! He forgot to introduce himself! “Oh and I’m Oliver Brown, First year Ravenclaw. Most people call me Oli. Some call me a nerd- I prefer to be called Oli though- for very obvious reasons haha!” He added laughing. He shook his head. “Yeah- I need help doing this- I can barely say a word- next thing I want to do is to offend a Korean person.” He told her. He was probably gonna give up if nothing changed in a few weeks. Sure, you can’t rush learning a new language but most likely there are going to be some improvements by now, even more in the next few weeks. He pondered if learning a new language was a smart idea- or wasn’t a smart idea.

”a couple days ago! What are you learning right now? Pronunciation? Grammar?” She nodded when he introduced his name. “Well, people always say genius takes a bit of stupid,” she said, shrugging. “trying new things is always fun, although it’s a bit scary. Did skating since I was seven, gave it up last year for duelling.”
Nodding again at Oli’s words, she spoke again: “And yeah, some older Koreans get pretty offended if you say 안녕 instead of 안녕하세요 to them, since it’s the less formal version, so they think you’re sort of disrespecting them!” Guinevere laughed. “everything can be hard to sort out and learn at first, but it gets easier a while after. At least it’s not Chinese! Tried learning a bit years ago. Gave up when I realized the characters would be too hard to memorize.”
Guinevere sometimes would have short phases where she would be super interested in a certain topic, and rarely would they progress into long-term things, although lately, there was a noticeable decrease in them, schoolwork taking up most of her time. Thinking more about it, she realized she might actually miss the excitement and experience that came with learning new things. Perhaps she should go dig in the library for fun topics later.
