Making Friends and First Steps!
Renee's attention had drifted from the conversation some time ago, gaze drawn to the edge of the courtyard and the grounds beyond it. Returning from her daze she realised a few new faces had joined while she'd been out of it.
A blush covered her cheeks as she tried to catch back up to the conversation, but of course, they'd not strayed far from the topic of quidditch so she had little trouble re-entering the fray. They also seemed to be talking about altering their hair colour, something Ren's own mother achieved with magic.
"Hi, Sorry... Must have gotten lost in a daydream there... Who do we have here then?" she asked, looking around at the newcomers and offering a smile. It looked as though a Hufflepuff, a new Ravenclaw and another Gryffindor had arrived. They seemed just as friendly as everyone else they'd met so far. "I'm Renée, but you can call me Ren. Are we really still talking about quidditch though guys? And Hair Dye? Is that how muggles change their hair colour? My mother does it with some spell, though she mostly just keeps it blonde... She said when I get a bit older I could put colours in my hair, but I would probably keep it mostly blonde... " She wanted to reintegrate herself fully with the convo.
Andrea, the newly arrived Hufflepuff then brought up pets and Renée's eyes gleamed with excitement. As an animal lover, and with dreams of going into Magizoology, Ren was more than eager to talk cute pets.
"Oh My Goodness! Okay, so I am so glad you brought up pets cause I am beyond excited to get my own! I'm torn between a ferret, a cat or a snake... Cliché for the last choice I suppose... But how cool would I look with a snake as a pet!" She tried to pull a cool pose, imitating how badass a snake would make her look, but ended up giggling and ruining the imitation. "Shame we can only have one while we're here... Maybe a ferret would be better? They're clever, and I would definitely teach it cool tricks! Or I could go with a black kitty and really lean into that muggle perception of witches... Plus a cat would be so cuddly!" She realised she'd started rambling and blushed slightly, holding a hand to her mouth to silence herself before adding quieter "Sorry, got carried away there didn't I?"

Andrea smiled as Renee carried on the conversation of pets. "I'm stuck between a ferret, cat, or maybe a rabbit if they sell those... imagine how cute and cuddly a fluffy white rabbit would be!" She gushed. "I would name it cuddles, which is a bit basic but I am too. I think you would look super cool with a snake. Maybe a nice green garden snake, that would be cool." Andrea was so excited to meet someone as eager to get a pet as her. "Oh, and about the dye thing, I'll probably do the spell to dye my hair once I know it. I'm not that advanced yet, though." She started thinking about her curled up on the chair next to the fire in her common room, with a cute little rabbit sitting on her lap. "Maybe a ferret or cat, too though. I totally agree with you, how are we supposed to just pick one!" She exclaimed, "I think maybe a rabbit or ferret, since I have a dog at home the cat probably wouldn't get along with it. So that'd be problematic on the holidays. But ferrets are just so cute! And they're so flexible and stuff. Ugh! This decision is just so hard!" She complained.

Ren grinned as Andrea began gushing about getting a fluffy rabbit and calling it Cuddles. Arguably, it was a bit of a basic name, but it was more than Renée had considered for her own pet. She still didn't actually know which one she wanted to get and she certainly didn't have any names in mind! Andrea also boosted Ren's consideration of a snake by saying she also thought it would make Ren look cool, suggesting a green snake.
The blonde pondered, trying to imagine herself with a little emerald serpent curled around her arm. Once thing was for certain, she would be buying as many pets as she could afford once she finished her time at Hogwarts, perhaps she would even open her own little magical menagerie.
"Okay, so I would definitely look badass with a snake... God it's so tough to decide..." She mused, tilting her head and shrugging before Andrea mentioned the spell to change ones hair colour. "Oh, absolutely, I think it's safe to say none of us are at that level yet... But I don't think we would get in trouble if we did it the muggle way" she suggested with a smirk. In truth, she had no idea what the rules around hair colour were... But the idea of trying that muggle hair dye stuff seemed exciting Renée, who'd been brought up so closeted. A little rebellion in the form of hair colouring was hardly the worst thing she could do, right?
"I'd love it if you could help me dye some of my hair... Though I have no idea what colour I would put in it... I only know I don't want to change all of it... Maybe just some strands, or the ends?" Just a little bit... Something she might easily fix if needed...

Andrea was excited to hear Renee's request for Andrea to help her. "Totally!" Andrea said in response. "How about some red or blue strands and maybe some color at the end?" Andrea was trying to think of someplace they could dye their hair. "We'd need a bathroom that not everybody's going in and out of... Perhaps the abandoned bathroom, maybe we could find somewhere else though." She had started thinking out loud. "I brought some from home, one of each color in case my favorite color changed. So I can supply the dye, but we'd still need a hair dryer, a towel, plastic wrap, and a brush for dying. Nothing too difficult, I suppose. Imagine how cool you'd look with red hair and a green snake wrapped around you!" She laughed, picturing it. "Now that I think about it, I think I'll just dye some of my hair. And if i like how it looks I'll dye some more. She was pretty nervous about putting dye in her hair. Although it would be cool, It would also be more permanent than she needed. But what was the harm of taking risks? After all, her older sister had been dying her hair since she was ten.

The topic of hair dyeing continued as well as mentions of pets. Due to her ramble before, Lizzie was stopping herself from going any further than she needed to.
"I think I'd love to have a cat. I don't really mind what kind as long as it has fur, is kinda cute and likes me. You can't really ask for more in a cat as they can be so unfriendly sometimes. As for my hair, I'd gladly join you girls in trying out something. I wouldn't mind going a bit darker with maybe blue tips to show my house pride? I'd have to change it before I got back to see my parents, though. I'm not sure I could face the idea of them seeing me with blue hair- they might think I've had some bad influences. If you just tell me when you'll be planning to do this then I'll gladly join in. We can always continue to get to know each other along the way as well." A small smile graced Lizzie's face when she finished speaking. She did like the creative arts so perhaps putting that inspiration into her hair wouldn't be so bad. Thinking back on the conversation of pets, she thought about how a cat had been her dream for a while now. At home, she never wanted to ask but for school having a small furry buddy might be quite comforting, especially with so many new faces.
