A Tour, Please?!
Yong sat on the grassy Grounds of Hogwarts, her scarf - which was in the black and yellow Hufflepuff colours - wrapped around her neck lightly. September had come so quickly! Just think; just a few months ago, Yong had realised she was a witch, and had gotten her peculiar acceptance letter from the school staff - and also, just a few days ago, Yong had celebrated her 11th birthday with her family (at least part of it). The air was bitter and sharp and ugly. Frost had already began to gather on her nose. Or at least that's what it felt like.
How on Earth did the weather go from Frosty The Snowman Preventer to Frosty The Snowman Summoner? It was awful!
This period, Yong had a Free Period - but it was only her first period, on her first day. She knew absolutely nothing about how to get to the Charms classroom! How could the professors be so evil? Yong thought madly, furrowing her eyebrows. She turned her head and looked down at her leather satchel, which reminded her of home. Well, of Daegu, where her father's parents lived - in South Korea. They had sent the bag to her for her birthday, because they didn't live in England, or Scotland, or whatever. Even if it had arrived a few days before the 31st, the bag was still exactly what Yong had wanted for school.
Now enough of the mushy stuff. We must get back to how useless Yong felt because she didn't know how to get around the school. Other than moving from the Hufflepuff dorms, to the Hufflepuff Common Room, to the Grounds. That was because the Grounds and the Hufflepuff vicinity were just one floor apart. At least Yong knew there were two classrooms on the same floor as Hufflepuff, but she couldn't remember which. And wasn't there a Study Room?

A Tour, Please?!
Verla was walking back from the lake since she was getting cold. She had mittens on her hands so they didn't freeze off. She saw a fellow hufflepuff who seemed lost, she waved and said "hey, I've seen you around before, are you lost? Oh, where are my manners, I'm Verla, just Verla. Are you from a different country? I'm sorry if that sounds forward, you don't have to answer if you don't want to. Anyways, are you lost? I can show you around if you'd like." Verla offered.
Oh no, she was nervous, and she babbled when she was nervous. She hated feeling nervous, especially around new people, maybe she could make friends with this girl and not screw up. She screwed up last time making a friend, but they'd started it too.
Verla was kind of excited too, though it didn't help she was drinking coffee to keep her warm. She offered some of it to her, and told her it had a lot of sugar in it, it had to otherwise she wouldn't drink it.
She shivered and awaited the girls answer patiently. She smiled sweetly as the girl began to think of what to say next.

"What cannot be seen, felt, or carried?" Person who gets this right I will donate some money to them.

Yong looked up as she saw two glistening black shoes step forward to her. A girl with frizzy-looking red hair stood there, smiling, in the Hufflepuff colours, drinking... coffee?
"Are you lost?" the girl asked in an overly cheery voice.
Yong shrugged. "In a way?" she replied. "It's my Free Period. But the thing is: this is my First Period! It's only my first day! Why - and how - did the professors have the audacity to give me a Free Period on my first day?" Yong's face began to go red in all places, not just her cheeks now. She really was just getting herself riled up for nothing. "Do they do this all the time?"
The Hufflepuff girl's face was still in a big smile, and she introduced herself: 𝒱𝓮𝓇𝓁𝒶 𝓗𝒶𝓇𝓃𝓮𝓈𝓈. Next, the newly-introduced Verla asked if Yong was from a different country, which Yong had no problem answering, since it hadn't been said rudely, and it wasn't meant to be discriminatory. Yong nodded.
Yong stood up, grabbing her satchel and slinging it over her shoulder. "I'm okay with answering it. I'm from South Korea. And I would love if you could show me around. Really," she replied, smiling, touching the black earrings in her ears.

"That's cool, I'm from Scotland. And I'd be happy to show you the Great Lake, though it's getting chillier for some reason. A few days ago it was super warm, stupid Fall season." Verla smiled at the girl, she had yet to introduce herself but she thought she heard her name somewhere in the common room, Yong right? Yeah. Verla was excited, she never really got to show any of her new friends the famous Great Lake. She knew some facts about it and told Yong that. "Did you know, the Great Lake actually is the home to merpeople, or mermaids. I call them merpeople because that's what they prefer, no matter how ridiculous it sounds."
Verla giggled. It did sound funny when she used the term in an awkward way. Verla's stomach growled and she dug in her bag and took out a cookie. She took out another one and offered it to Yong. She promised it wasn't poisoned. She ate it and then took out her jug of coffee and began to drink it to warm her insides a little bit.
She shivered as the warm liquid ran down her throat and warmed up her body. She smiled.

Yong nodded and smiled. "Interesting," she said. "Have you ever seen the merpeople? You seem to know the Great Lake better than anywhere else." After being offered the cookie from Verla, Yong took it and thanked her.
"Cookies - or biscuits - remind me of a band. You might not know it; BTS. They're very popular where I come from," Yong said with a small smile. She took a bite of Verla's cookie, chewed and swallowed before continuing. "My bias in the band - Jungkook - has a nickname, Kookie, and it just reminds me of Jungkook, even if it is weird." Yong giggled to herself softly. She bit off another chunk of the cookie and looked back at Verla, who had just been standing there, listening to Yong ramble on about BTS and biscuits. How boring it must've been.
Suddenly, Yong remembered something. "I just realised I haven't introduced myself. How rude of me; I beg your pardon. I'm Yong - Yong Yukimura," Yong said, giggling awkwardly. Her mother, Katie, had always said, when Yong was growing up, to introduce yourself when you first encounter somebody; for example, Verla would come up to Yong (as she did) and Yong would introduce herself, 'hello, my name is Yong Yukimura'. But whatever - Verla seemed nice enough to not mind.

"Mmhmm, I was drawing a picture of the lake and one of them poked their head up and I drew it into the picture, here, I'll show you." Verla smiled as she pulled out her sketch book and flipped to the picture she was talking about. It was very detailed, and looked almost perfect. But Verla always thought her drawings looked horrible.
Of course, her mother always complimented her on her drawings, well, until the incident. You see, Verla's parents didn't want her as a daughter anymore, because they found out she was a witch. The witch blood skips a generation so they had another baby. Verla doesn't know the name of the baby, but she knows it's a girl.
Her parents had sent an owl of them in a picture with a baby girl in their arms, they'd done it to be cruel. but of course, being the way that she is, Verla didn't see it that way, no, she thought they had exited her out of the family, getting rid of her for good, poof, pop, gone.
Verla smiled as she felt this run through her head, and it'd finally hit her. She felt tears welt in her eyes.
