Eleanore Striker had been regaled with stories of Platform 9 ¾ since she had been old enough to hear them. Stories of escaped owls, runaway textbooks, baffled Muggles and chattering students had seemed a glorious future – one that had inched closer slower than ever after the arrival of her letter. Still crumpled in her pocket, Eleanore clung to the wrinkled parchment now, reminding herself that this was really happening. Her mother gave her an encouraging smile as they entered Grand Central Station, and Eleanore’s steps slowed as she took in the sights. The Scottish countryside was a far cry from Muggle London, and the swarm of people was rather overwhelming for an 11-year-old witch.

Muggles ran about everywhere, checking their wristwatches and shining screens in a chaotic swarm of humanity. Grabbing her father’s sleeve to avoid being pulled into the crowd, Eleanore’s face split into a wide grin. Her trolley was piled high with overflowing trunks and piles of textbooks, but the Muggles only shot them passing glances as they walked towards a nondescript brick wall in the middle of the station.

“Now, dear, you remember what I told you,” her mother said, placing a hand on Eleanore’s shoulder. “It’s easier if you run, the first time. We’ll be in right after.”

Eleanore nodded and took a deep breath before pushing her cart ahead, gaining speed as she aimed for the wall – which, impossibly, allowed her to stumble into the hidden platform. Turning back towards the entrance, she giggled with delight as her parents followed her through.

The platform was incredible. Students in various states of uniform hugged old friends, maneuvered owls onto the train, bemoaned their impending classes and gave their families teary-eyed hugs. Eleanore could not get enough, turning her head slowly to absorb as much information as possible.

Her father laid a hand on her shoulder, and she looked up to meet his crinkled eyes – she could have sworn they were getting misty, but he blinked quickly and shot her a grin. "Owl us right when you get settled, Nellie,” he said, glancing at his watch. “We can’t wait to hear about your first day.”

Eleanore rushed into his outstretched arms, giving him a tight hug before turning to do the same to her mother.

“I’m going to miss you both,” she said, tears fogging her vision. “Promise you’ll write as soon as you get home.”

After more hugs and tears and goodbyes and I-love-yous, Eleanore finally pushed her trunks towards the trolley, following the crowd of students into the train and towards her new life at Hogwarts.

Ever since reciving the letter, Orpheus could not focus on anything except his numerous daydreams of attending the fabled school. He was excited about the new life that awaited him. The night before the scheduled train ride, he laid in bed wide awake, stairing at the white ceiling of his room.

Despite the lack of sleep he got out of bed filled to the brim with energy and butterflies in his stomach. His parents were in shock to wake up and find Orpheus in his room, completley dressed and beginning to pack nervously. The professor that brought the Hogwarts letter to the Silvertounge family came to escort young Orpheus to diagon alley and subsequently to King's Cross Station. He lead Orpheus and his parents to Diagon Alley. Out of the numerous supplies Orhpeus was required to get, he was most excited about recieving his wand.

Orpheus raised his head to read out the sign standing above the humble looking store. "Olivander's..." he whispered. He nervously walked in to the store and marveled at the smell of wood and polish, the piles of differently colored boxes stacked upon eachother on shelves. He reached out his hand towards one of the shelves as to grab one of the boxes before he was interrupted by a voice. "It is unbecoming of a wizard to touch what isn't his. Besides I can tell just by looking at you that you are not a good fit for that wand." Orpheus lowered his hand and looked apologetically at the man in the store."I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..." Orpheus retorted before being interrupted by the man. "Do not fret, we will find a wand for you yet."

After obtaining all of his supplies. Orpheus was escorted to King's Cross station. He said goodbye to his parents through tears before embracing them tightly. "Please write to us little one, atleast every now and again." said Orpehus's mother. The professor gestured to the wall between platforms 9 and 10 at King's Cross Station. Orpheus turned just in time to see a girl his age run through the wall with her trolley. Assured by her success he ran after her with his own trolley and shut his eyes as he approached the wall.

When he opened his eyes, Orpheus was overtaken by the majestic sight of the station and the Hogwarts Express. He gazed at everything he could, the train, the floor, the sky. His eyes darted about the places as he walked towards the train. He looked everywhere except where he was going. He accidently walked his trolley straight into the girl standing infront of him, albeit not that hard. Just hard enough to make her stumble a step or two.

"Oh my god! I am so sorry. Are you alright?" asked Orpheus as he looked apologetically at the girl.
