Larino sighed. It had been a lousy couple of weeks since he returned from the holidays, despite not wanting to go home in the first place anyway. He was simply stood at the edge of the Great Lake's water, skimming stones. He needed to get his frustration out somehow, anyway. He had a few bruises from the... event... that had happened in Astronomy recently, and wasn't sure how he felt about it. And it came as no surprise to him that he soon began to start quietly talking to himself, just trying to make everything feel fine. After all, it wasn't very often that he was alone for this long. And, to be honest, he was quite enjoying it.

He liked studying rocks, and began analyzing them as he threw them across the water's surface- naming the type, why it was how it was; he knew lots about geology, but nobody ever listened to him when he talked about it. But right now, he just liked to feel the wind on the back of his neck, and the feel of smooth pebbles in his hands. He had grown to like that feel, so always kept his special rock in his pocket- safe, where nobody would ever take it.

But his peace was interrupted by the sound of footsteps behind him, but he didn't turn around, not really caring who it was. His peace was too good to be interrupted.

Larino was simply minding his own business, skimming stones across the surface of the Great Lake, when he suddenly heard footsteps coming up from behind him. He turned to face whoever it was.

Thorn had decided it was a good afternoon for a walk. She bundled up for walk assuming it was cold, it was January after all. She then tucked her pet ferret Slinky bonx into her pocket and headed off towards the Great Lake. She was walking along the edge of the Greak lake when she was suddenly splashed by something. Now frustrated, she tried to dry her coat. "Are you kidding me" she yipped. She looked up to see who had splashed her, It was the boy from the astronomy tower. Larino, at least that's what she thought it was. "Aye Larino, be careful where your splashing. Which is more expensive than your schoolbooks." She shouted at the boy, you could really hear her accent come out. When she was satisfied that her coat was dry she set her ferret down in the snow. She always loved to see him play in the snow. She then made her way over to the boy. "So what were you doing that made such a big splash that you almost ruined my coat." she huffed and waited for a reply. She noticed that he was holding a few rocks in his hand. Oh, your skipping stones! Let me try! she exclaimed plucking a stone out of his hand.

Larino turned to see whoever it was when he heard voices. He didn't understand what was said, but realized it was Thorn, one of the girls from the Astronomy Tower recently. “Probably in another language, like when I do this.” He muttered in Japanese, his native tongue. He didn't really have time to process what she was doing by the lake, since she started to shout at him. By instinct, he dropped the pebbles in his hand and covered his ears, hoping she wouldn't notice, but deep down, he knew that she would be judging him. Everyone always did.

He silently picked up the pebbles scattered across the ground as she asked him what he was doing, much quieter this time. When she noticed that he was skimming stones, he noticed that she simply grabbed one and started it for herself.

It now came to the point where Larino had absolutely no idea what to say now. So much had gone on (mainly involving her), that he wasn't too sure if he should mention it or not. He looked down into his palm, trying to find one of his rocks to comfort him. He was so sure he was holding a smaller one, unlike his usual one. In his right hand, so he could skim some across the water's surface with his left. Oh no... she didn't... did she? But he knew it: accidentally, Thorn had skimmed a stone from his rather expansive collection.

"That stone you just skimmed..." he paused for a moment, looking at her, "...what did it look like? And where did it land?"

Larino noticed Thorn Cullen, who yelled at him for accidentally splashing her, then came over, grabbed a pebble from in his hand, and skimmed it, just like he was doing. What she didn't know, was that she had accidentally skimmed a piece of his collection. And so, he asked her what it looked like, and where it landed, not knowing if she'd be able to give an answer or not.

OOC NOTE: the pebble will look completely ordinary, so just say that it's smooth and flat, ideal for skimming.
