Friendships over breakfast
Waaaaaa!
Conan stretched out in bed and ruffled his thick black hair. He looked around. There were only a few students left asleep in their beds, but most of them were already in the great hall, having breakfast.
Thinking of the bacon and porridge waiting for him downstairs, he had to summon up all his courage to get up, put on his cloak (it was far too cold to stay in the short-sleeved shirt he wore as pyjamas) and get out of bed. The boy put on his slippers and slowly began to dress, his eyes still closed, in the silence of a cold late night. Shirt, trousers, cloak, wand, socks, shoes... once he was ready, and after a quick trip to the bathroom, he went back to his dormitory to grab a book and finally went outside.
In the great hall, his poor sleeping ears were attacked by the sounds of cutlery, voices, clinking dishes and thunderous laughter.
He saw students who must have been in the fifth year playing magical chess and others helping themselves, refilling and re-filling with porridge and eggs and other delicious food that was on offer.
At the Gryffindor table, the students were talking loudly, excited about the new day ahead of them. He sat down in a small empty seat, filled his plate with egg, fried bacon and toast with marmalade. Contemplating his dish, he thought that it would be enough to last a whole day. So he opened his book, with its maroon cover, and plunged into his reading, despite the surrounding noise.
It was then that a young girl with blonde hair who looked about his age approached him.

Friendships over breakfast
Word Count: 216, @Canon Clarck
"Hi. May I sit here?" She asked, tucking in her blondish hair behind her ear. Her eyes twinkled as she met the boys and looked at him, tilting her head slightly. In her hands, she was holding a plate of sausages, which were splitting open (just the way she liked them) and an egg on toast. He noticed that she also had slices of avacado on the plate and was holding a cup of fresh pumpkin juice.
Her shrewd expression tried to read his thoughts. Does he like me? Will he just call me "mudblood" and stalk away? Now that was obvious, something that she had seen many people do. Mudblood. Well, she was certainly a muggle born witch and proud of it! But somehow, she argued with herself. The boy certainly looked kind - that was why she had approached him. She was getting desperate to find anyone who wanted and was willing to have her sitting with them. Still, as the morning sun stabbed the windows she felt as though anything could happen.
She was wearing her sweeping black robes, with embroidered copper and red on the corners. She was wearing a Gryffindor tie and her bag slung over her shoulder carrying a huge load of books.
"Like reading as well?" She asked curiously.

Friendships over breakfast
Conan, pausing in his reading, saw a young girl with blonde hair and sparkling eyes. He smiled gently at her:
- Of course you can sit here. What is your name? My name is Conan Clarck.
The boy wondered if he wasn't going a bit fast with the introductions. Swallowing an egg, he gave her time to breathe. The girl asked him if he liked to read. Looking at the cover, the boy replied:
- It depends what, where and when. But in general, yes, I like to read. Do you like to read? By the way, are you in first grade too? I'm in first grade.
The boy swallowed a slice of bacon, wiped his hands and ran them through his black hair. He looked around for a friend, but couldn't find one. Perhaps he had already left.
He took some time to look at the girl in front of him. She had long, beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes like his, only a little lighter. She was wearing a Gryffindor uniform, with a skirt.
- By the way," he asked her, "what blood are you? Half-blood, wizard-born, or Muggle-born? I'm wizard-born, for one, and probably the first in my family in a few generations to be in Gryffindor! But don't worry, I'm not the type of person to denigrate people because of their origins. I'm not that sort of person.
He smiled reassuringly at her before putting his live one next to his plate and starting to eat again.
Just then a flock of birds flew into the castle and letters began to rain down from all sides. One letter fell right onto Conan's plate, getting soaked in bacon fat.
- Oh, disgusting!" he exclaimed as he picked it up, dripping with fat, between his thumb and forefinger with a look of disgust. They really should change their shift system, or at least hire some owls with good eyesight.
Then he looked at the girl, who seemed impressed by all the commotion, or so he thought.
