Why, why, why?

Kayla was in the library. Yes, she hated them that much. Libraries gave her a headache. But her mind was leading her to tne place of books. And Kayla never doubted the universal meaning, something special must have been there! Perhaps a quest to find out how to learn a spell in less than an hour. Because less than an hour was all the time she was going to give for practicing magic.

Kayla went into the library and caught the familiar smell of ink, quills and parchment. And books. Books. Kayla sighed and looked around the shelves, seeing what would catch her sharp blue eyes. She frowned at an emerald book, it was a beautifully covered book and the title read: 'The True Bloods'. Kayla sighed before taking it down from the shelf. Is this what the universe was leading her to? A beautiful book with a weird title? Perhaps. Kayla took the book and walked to a table to read. She turned the book around to read on the back.
"'The True Bloods'is a book devoted to telling people where their prioreties lie in who should really be rulling the wizarding world. This is devoted to saying which blood is truly superior and why they are. Discover why you shouldn't befriend half-blood or half-breeds for that matter.'"

Kayla felt like she was going to be sick reading that. The superior blood? Kayla scoffed. A whole lot of dung, thats what she thought. She glared at the roof, thinking, "Really, universe?"

Just before she could scold the roof some more, a girl in crutches approached her table. Kayla put on a brighter expression as she asked if Kayla was studying and Kayla shook her head no. But she let the girl sit down.
"Sure, why not?" Kayla said and the girl took a seat across from her, setting her crutches on the other seat.
"Its great to meet you, Astra. I'm Kayla Realma, what're you studying?" she zsked curiously. While waiting for Astra to answer, Kayla turned a few pages in the book she was reading. She caught a few words like 'mudblood' and 'half-breeds' and Kayla wasn't enjoying the book. She knitted her eyebrows at the book as she waited for Astra's answer.

Kayla looked up from her book, glad to hear Astra answer. Kayla was also grateful for a reason to look up. She didn't want to continue reading but the book had her hooked.
"Astronomy eh?" she repeated with a small smile. Kayla didn't like astronomy much; oh yes, the proffesor was great! The subject however, not so much. "what does your name mean?" she added curiously, since Astra mentioned that her name was, well, Astra, Kayla could swear it was the name of either a star, planet or moon. As Astra asked Kayla what she was studying, Kayla smiled a bit.
"Not studying. Just doing a bit of light reading," Kayla informed Astra. Light reading? What a joke. The book was HUGE. Kayla hoped Astra wouldn't get the wrong idea that Kayla enjoyed reading, because it wasn't Kayla's thing...she was more of an outside girl.

Astra leaned over a bit to check the title of her book and Kayla could swear she was smiling. Who would be smiling at this kind of thing? Maybe it was amusement. Kayla couldn't read people that well, it was more of her brother's thing.
"So... Kayla you are into this kind of thing ? Just letting you know right of the bat that I am a pure blood t..."

Astra let the sentence hang in the air and Kayla didn't give it much thought.
"No, this book makes me sick, in all honesty," Kayla admitted. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat before continuing, "I just- I'm half-blood. I just picked this off the shelf and I get a load of this. How can someone judge another because of their blood? Its wrong. I just hate discrimination, especially towards blood." Kayla finished her statement and sighed.
"It just makes me sad for people who think like this," Kayla said, flipping a page on the book and wincing a bit at the first sentance. She stood by her opinion. It was wrong.

"Shoulda thought so, Astra sounds like astronaut. Can I call you Astronaut?" Kayla asked. She studied Astra for a few moments before speaking again, "I think the name suits you." It was a very vague answer, but hopefully Astra got the memo. Kayla thought Astra was bright, like a star. Bright as in clever.

As Kayla ranted about her dislike for people who disregard people because of their blood, Astra agreed rather quickly.
"Equal," Kayla repeated, "yeah, I like that. Equal. I wish everyone thought like you and me, Astra. I really wish." Kayla didn't mean to bring tension into the conversation with such a nice person, but the book being in her presence kind of ruined that. But Astra redirected the conversation like a pro.
"Anyway, what do you prefer?" Astra asked her, "muggle life or wizard life?" Kayla was about to answer, "wizard life, of course!" but that wasn't true. She loved her muggle family and her muggle life. Speaking of such, she started missing Sam. It was the saddest thing, leaving Sam, her BMBF, best muggle best friend.
"Honestly? I love the wizarding world, but I don't know how I could stand a day without my phone," she laughed. Yes, her phone. One of the many pieces of technology Kayla missed most. "You said your pureblood, right? Have you ever had taste of muggle life?" Kayla was curious, did all purebloods live without muggle technology? Without spotify? Without the fastest way of communication muggle life has ever seen?

Apon seeing the shock on her new friends face, Kayla laughed.
"Astra, means star, correct? You, my friend, are definatly a star," she explained to Astra, "plus, Astronaut rhymes with Astra. Have you ever wanted to go into space, Astronaut?" she specifically added the nickname, just to tease her friend.

As Kayla mentioned she missed her phone, Astra asked what a phone was. Whats a phone? Kayla could hardly believe she didn't know what a phone was. But Kayla was patient.
"Oh, well, a phone is sort of muggle technology. Its used for communication, mostly. But you can check social media, listen to music, play games." Kayla had that blissful look on her face whenever she talked about muggle related things, stuff she knew a lot about. The things that people achieved were wonderful! Especially the creation of phones, whoever created phones was a genius, despite her father constantly saying phones were a bad thing for kids her age. It wasn't her fault Liam bought her a phone. Kayla snapped out of muggle-thoughts when Astra asked if Kayla could teach her these things. Kayla smiled brightly, she was glad Astra had made this request.
"Yeah, of course! I wish I brought my phone here, I could've shown you how they work!" she cursed herself. But phones didn't work at Hogwarts because there was no signal, and mostly electrical devices shut down in the presence of the magical aura. It was sad. Kayla already learnt that when she brought her electrical alarm clock. All she could say was it didn't last long.
"Anything specific you wanna know? Sports? Science. I hate science, nevermind you don't wanna know that." a smile crept up her face. "astronauts maybe?"
