Bread, Jam, & Company: House Cup Party
Ravenclaw Only
This thread is a flood - the 200 word minimum is not required.
The young students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had been a surprise, that much was for certain. From their unexpected eagerness to learn to their snatching of the House Cup from ambitious Slytherin; it was clear to the professor, even after only a single month of teaching, that there was a certain pride to be had as a member of the blue and bronze.
Recognition for Ravenclaw for a change was long overdue.
There was a bit of discussion with her fellow professors on what exactly the theme of the party could be. Back in Uagadou, there were no such things as Houses; the school's large student population were massed together as one for centuries. Professor Benoit was not afraid to admit that she had a bit of adjusting to do the moment she stepped into Hogwarts - to divide students based off of a few personality quirks was unheard of to the Divination professor, but nevertheless, she did not dare question the Hogwarts tradition.
After brainstorming, it was decided. The House of the Wise; unabashed bookworms, introverts, and eccentrics? Not to worry - a tea party was far from intimidating and would get those little wallflowers engaging in no time.
The Divination classroom was perfect for the occasion. The room's largest window was slid ajar to allow in fresh and cool air. The number of students invited was a large bunch and the room was notorious for often feeling stuffy. The previously purple draperies now turned blue to match the group's house colours. The velvet tablecloths had also been altered to a beautiful bronze and the surfaces otherwise laid bare yet inviting for guests - two per table. Near the farthest corner of the room, stood a long table containing a variety of sweets and teas, along with plates, teacups, and tea kettles to dine with. The set was new and self-purchased for her classes. Only the best of material would be used for her lessons.
Once the last student arrived and the chatter died down, Professor Benoit spoke to the crowd standing in front of her.
"Congratulations, students. Words cannot explain how proud I am of each and every one of you. This," she paused, bringing the silver trophy under her chin to show off. "This is what hard work can achieve. I expect more great accomplishments in the future."
Nadège adored children and found it difficult to hold grudges despite their impressionable and mistake-prone minds. She hoped her pep-talk and heartfelt (yet realistic) praises would inspire them to persevere through their studies. Like every professor, she too was once a pupil and knew how helpful just a few caring words could be.
With a turn, Benoit gently placed their trophy on a roundtable behind her where it would sit, gleaming, for all to appreciate. It would return to its permanent home in the trophy room after the tea party, but the woman thought it nice to actually see the results of their studying, even if for a short while. Looking back to the group in front of her, she clasped her manicured hands to speak again.
"Go on! Eat, drink, socialize - you've earned it. Don't be shy."

Bread, Jam, & Company: House Cup Party
Rylet stood awkwardly in the corner as the Divination teacher Nadege Benoit addressed the Ravenclaw house. They won the house cup! Not that she had really contributed much, mostly keeping too herself and all. Shifting from foot too foot Rylet studied the food with a critical eye. Was that cake?? Oooh ya that was so cake. She could't wait to eat it, holy wizarding world she was so ready too chow down. Maybe she would sneak off with a couple of pieces to eat by herself somewhere less crowded. She hated eating in front of people, no matter how often she wiped her mouth with a napkin icing always sneaked its way onto her chin. But, it was a hardship she was willing to live with.
Eyes darting around Rylet started inching forwards, looking too position herself strategically so that she could head up the soon too be forming food line. She needed first crack at that cake, before anyone else got their gruby fingers on it. As she moved through the crowd, hands in her robe pockets and face carefully blank and innocent, she tried to ignore the fact that she kept nocking into people. A stepped on toe here, an elbow too the stomach there... If it was any other time she would have skulked back too the back, but this was cake we were talking about here, cake. That always took precedence. So for now she would ignore the embarrassment of her clumsiness and just focus on the prize, focus Rylet, focus. Pay no mind too the person your just tripped into... just... focus.

They had won the House Cup. They had actually won! Amanda wasn’t exactly sure why she was surprised. I guess it’s just too good to be true. she thought as she walked into the Divination classroom. This was the first time that she had ever been in this classroom and she rather liked the atmosphere. Amanda went over to the food table and made herself some tea. Ooh yum, she thought when she spotted the cake. Amanda was making her way over to the cake when a girl bumped into her. Amanda recognized the girl from the Ravenclaw table. What was her name again? Riley? Amanda walked up to the girl. “Hey there. I’m Amanda. You’re a new first year, right?” she asked, smiling at the girl.Interactions: Rylet Lynch

I’m sorry I know it’s not my best writing. I’m not really in the good writing groove today, sadly.

As Rylet was enjoying her spoils another Ravenclaw witch came up too her with her own little plate of food and an introduction. Amanda was her name, and the question was; was cake her game?? Rylet was no fool, she saw the way the other girl had been eyeing the cake display, that's right, she recognized that hungry glint in her eyes! Just in case Rylet possessively cuddled her plate of cake closer to herself, no need to take any chances. Still however, her mouth currently full of cake. Cake Rylet attempted too swallow down in one gulp without chocking. After smiling through the pain, of not getting too savor her cake of course, Rylet nodded polity back at her fellow Ravenclaw.Interaction: Amanda Sparrow
"Um, nice too meet you," She murmured a bit shyly, her hands discretely brushing across her mouth in case of any pesky residue of the cake persuasion. "I'm Rylet, your very own resident first year!" She chirped, hopping her joke, was it really a joke? Didn't fall flat. Hmmm there wasn't any lead up, than a witty punch line, so it may not be a joke... a funny statement than? Either way, she hoped her whatever it was, wasn't too indicating of her lack of social skills. For goodness sake she wasn't even sure if she had cracked a joke or not! Not that she wasn't amazing at jokes, she totally was, sometimes they just went over peoples heads. Not her fault they weren't up too date on what was funny.

Ford sat at the far end of the banquet table, shoving various pastries into his mouth. For such a well-trained young man, he had little control over his notorious sweet tooth. He had wondered at first if it was a good idea to come here. He cared little for the petty competition surrounding this place. In fact he hadn't earned a single point for their house this month- or ever really. Of course he hadn't lost any either, so that put him above a few others in the rankings he supposed. His main issue with attending the party actually had nothing to do with house points though. It was simply the fact that it was... well, a party. Ford was not one for socialization.
He had eventually come after hearing that there would be cake, and was quite surprised to find that it was actually rather quiet. There were only two people here so far, a couple of girls whom he was fairly certain he'd seen around the common room. One of them he actually knew pretty well. Amanda Sparrow- a kindred spirit he'd found on his first day here at Hogwarts. He had enough in common with her that he even considered going over and talking to her. But she was busy, and that wasn't what he was here for anyway. His current mission: each as much free dessert as possible before the crowd showed up to ruin everything.

Luna arrived at the party, happy about her own contribution to the house which had helped them win a House Cup. Having earned a total of 88 points so far wasn't too bad. She was far from the highest earner, yet she had still put in quite a few points toward this cup. But the ever-pragmatic Ravenclaw had brought books with her. Just because they had won one cup didn't mean they could rest on their laurels. Her shoulder bag was gracing her, bouncing happily as she moved to the back table of the room. She observed the sweets and quickly moved on. She had no love of sugar. But the teas had her attention. She selected a cup, treating it delicately, and poured out the lovely liquid.
She walked over to one of the tables, carrying her tea as if it may drop at any moment. She sat gently at the table, letting the cup rest on a platter. She quickly pulled up her bag, withdrawing the History of Magic book, letting it fall open to her bookmark. Her amber eyes began scanning and absorbing the information of the book. At this point in time, socialization had always come to her. It was time to see if it would once again.

Robin entered the party, feeling a sense of pride that there was a party dedicated to her house. She was a Ravenclaw and it felt good to be one. She had even earned herself 10 points so far, which she felt prideful to have earned as a first year. Robin smiled at everyone she saw, recognizing a few fellow students. To be honest, she was drawn to the idea of eating cake. Cake was her favorite dessert after all. Grabbing a slice of cake, and pouring a cup of tea, with 3 sugars, Robin took a seat by a boy and smiled at him.Interaction: Ford Farquad
"Enjoying the sweets huh?" she giggled. She took a sip of her tea and placed the cup on the table. Taking a bite of cake, she closed her eyes as the flavors took over her senses. This has been the most delicious cake she's had in a while. "My apologies. I forgot to mention my name. I'm Robin Dream."

Bread, Jam, & Company: House Cup Party
As Adam looked around at the mystic decor of the Divination classroom, he was reminded of just how much he had been surprised this year. It had all started at the Sorting Ceremony itself, where he had expected to join the ranks of Gryffindor at the sound of the hat's echoing voice. When the Sorting was completed, however, he wasn't sitting with the red and gold, nor the yellow and black, his second guess. Out of the blue, he had been named a Ravenclaw, and the year had begun.
In those first few months of school, he'd met many of his Ravenclaw leaders. Professor Saiseri Blevins had passed on the mantle of Head of House to Transfiguration professor Sergei Yornikovych. He'd been welcomed and helped along by Prefects Bloom Silverton, Ben Eckenrode, and Reed Wesley, and by that time he'd even made a few friends of his own. Kaegen Deathmote had come along first; they'd met on the train, and Adam had been excited when he realized that the two boys had both been sorted with the same result. There'd been some conflict, of course: namely, a skirmish at the Ravenclaw table that he preferred not to reflect on. Cecily Quinn was the next of his housemates to really become a friend, and they'd had many adventures celebrating BlossomFest together. Soon, Adam himself had risen to the Prefect position, a job that he wouldn't trade for the world.
Sure, there had been some moments where he'd regretted filling out his application: the impending threat of the Masked Man and the subsequent reveal of his identity as Ben Eckenrode had been hell to deal with, especially since he had been walking among the Ravenclaws since the year began. He had played Quidditch with them, led them as Prefect -- and then he had cut their schoolmates down from the shadows. Adam knew that it wasn't Ben's fault, but he couldn't help feeling betrayed.
This was a party, though, and there was no room for such feelings in a party. This was a day to celebrate Ravenclaw as a whole, admire their accomplishments, and acknowledge their frankly miraculous rise to glory in the taking of last month's House Cup. Professors Yornikovych, Wright, and Benoit had worked hard to allow the students into the Divination classroom and set up the festivities just for them, and it had paid off. Listening to the woman's proud voice as she displayed the trophy for all to see, Adam felt his own rush of pride. This was his house, and for the next six years, they'd be something of his family. At the close of Professor Benoit's introduction, Adam helped himself to a cup of tea from the front of the room and a small plate of food. Taking a seat at an empty table, he took a moment to thoroughly enjoy it all. He'd go out and socialize before long, of course. But for now, he'd enjoy the silence, the atmosphere, and the victory.

Amanda grinned as she reached for a piece of cake. Rylet seemed friendly. Out of the corner of her eye, Amanda noticed Ford Farquad sitting in the corner. A girl walked up to him and introduced herself. Oh dear. That girl has no idea what she’s getting herself into. Amanda thought that Ford was nice, but she knew that he could be rather haughty and stuffy. She turned her attention back to Rylet. “So, what do you think about Hogwarts? Pretty awesome, huh?”Mentions: Ford Farquad, Robin Dream

Bread, Jam, & Company: House Cup Party
From the background watched the aged Professor, looking a little more cheery than usual. Though he still held onto that steel-faced demeanor he was well known for. Cup or not, he was proud of his house. Sergei had grown a silent fondness for the small eagles since he had taken the residence of Saiseri. It might not be always that the house won the cup, but he had always been proud of the toil that the students went through. There was no doubt that some of the brilliant witches and wizards in Ravenclaw he had seen so far could outmatch students from schools such as Durmstrang or Beauxbaton any day.
A faint smile cracked ever so briefly on the stern man's face, one that someone might find rare. Once the Divination professor had spoken to the children, he steadily approached the young woman and came to stand beside her. "You have my deepest gratitude for hosting the party, Professor Benoit - and on such short notice." he softly spoke. The man had kept his eye on the mingling students, happy to see that some of them had reached out to their peers already. The grizzled man glanced at Nadège, "I would like to also personally say, welcome to Hogwarts."
The chattering students caught his ear once more, it was a perfect time for them to get to know their future Professor. "Perhaps the students might wish to meet you, if you are in need of me - I will just be at one of the tables. I do not wish to scare them away." There was a slight laugh in his voice, one that was quickly overshadowed by the sound of his throat being cleared. Sergei broke from her side with a few quick strides, affixing himself to one of the tables. The man sat down and simply watched, he did not want to admit it, but he was tired himself. Things did not come any easier with age.
He's just idle, if you wish to interact, just simply approach him.
