Gavin laughed openly at the comment. "I guess that makes sense. And, well, I'm also a 'mysterious tree guy,'" he added with a grin. He had to admit, it was a pretty funny nickname.

When she introduced himself, the blonde nodded. "Nah, I get it. I would probably react that way too if I were in your position." He was always the one being sarcastic, surprising people. He was always the one in the trees.

When the other girl introduced herself as Kayla, the blonde gave a nod of acknowledgement. “Yeah. I don’t tend to have trouble with the spells, but I prefer to know what I need to know abou them in advance. I learn best through experience, which is why you found me trying the spell up in a tree,” he explained. Charms came easily to him, actually. He just chose to go over the ones he found most practical. The unlocking charm was among them. His next goal was going to be colloportus, as that was the antithesis of alohomora. “Frankly, all I was doing when you came up was making sure I wouldn’t fumble the pronunciation.” That was generally a problem for him. He was more focused on it with spells, but he would often fumble his words when he was talking to people normally. He was just bad at communication in general.

"You concentrate well up a tree?" she asked curiously. She wasn't moking him or anything, she was just curious. Many people had their own study methods, some chose to study up trees. Others, chose to study where their was a lot of noise. And Kayla just didn't like studying at all, but she didn't have much of a choice.

"Me and studying don't agree with eachother, so when theres class and I forgot to study I kind of just wing it," she shrugged. "I mean- the only subjects I've ever done bad in is transfiguration and potions, so its never too bad. I like charms though, what subjects do you guys like?"

That, was true. If there was a practical lesson in transfiguration, forget it. Kayla was going to skip. She might blow something up! Or worse, someone. This was why Kayla usually chose to keep her wand to herself.

She swayed on the spot while she awaited her friend's answered. Or atleast friend and soon to be friend.
"So, uh, we friends?" Kayla directed this question more towards the tree boy, who she wasn't sure whether to be intimidated by or simply amused. Anyone who spent their time practicing the pronunciation of spells was dangerous.
