2022, Stage 1 Slytherin vs. Hufflepuff, Match 1

Decidedly this was going well, she was succeeding in casting her spell. The Slytherins weren’t moving at all, in fact they didn’t seem to remember that they were still in a game, and Lindsey blinked. Huh, this wasn’t very snake-like. But anyway, she focused on her own Fire-Making spell, something known as the favourite of badgers, and she proved that she was indeed a qualified little arsonist. A swirl of wand and the fire emerged, making her lips curl up a bit. As for Autumn…ah, she had to say that Autumn was doing very well even she didn’t really want to admit that, but hey, this was a good thing for Hufflepuff, right? Though if Autumn was someone else she might give them an encouragement to show the affection between teammates, but this was Autumn. And so Lindsey keeper quiet with just a simple nod, and twirled her wand in her fingers ready for her next act.

It seemed her fellow Hufflepuff was set on knocking on death's door and running away. Clearly taunting the possibility of leaving the stage unconscious was working for them- both that and the Slytherins' apparent lack of care for sustaining their current upper hand. Autumn, the ever-judgemental strategist sure did have opinions on that course of action, but, having seen what being too talk and no action in a duel could do to someone- in this case being Tone- she remained silent, only returning Springhall's nod.

Getting the hit was good, but too little and too late. If they still wanted a chance at victory, Autumn would have to step up her game, and fast. Though she would have required a will of steel to remove the smug smirk now fixed on her face.

She was a creature of pride at heart, and who as she to deny her nature?

It was a bad idea to look at Illowy. Hanako should’nt have let his ego take over his logic. Yea sure, charming the Hufflepuffs enough to make one of them forget their spells a couple of times ( his own personal delusions and yet a story he wanted to stick with ) was a good thing. But forgetting his own weakness towards lovely faces? Temporarily mesmerised by Illowy’s features had costed him. Ouch.

This round was not in the slytherins favour, not only did Illowy have a bit of a delayed reaction time but Hanako got hit not once, but twice. Just as one flame was starting to die down, Lindsey sent another one flying this way, also it only grazed him, it was enough to catch his robes alight. Meanwhile Hanako had some even more awful luck, as he sent a spell Lindseys way, it went so skew-iff that it headed towards Illowy instead! Luckily her instincts were good enough to dodge out of the way before it hit her.

They were doing it well, throwing spells at the poor Slytherin. A swirl of wand, Lindsey casted another Fire-Making Spell at Hanako, capturing the end of his robe. Far from perfect, but not bad either. She watched the flames dancing on the boy, when Autumn’s solid Knockback Jinx hit him right in the chest. And Hanako himself? He seemed to be targeting his own teammate (though Illowy stepped out of its way), and Lindsey shrugged at the sight. It’s a signal of him not feeling well - which, for the badgers, was certainly a good thing to learn.

With her ego beaten and bruised- and her body left surprisingly unscathed-, Autumn hadn't actually expected the stepping up her game thing to work out. But it seemed that finally luck was on their side, unless the universe was, as always, getting her hopes up before ultimately crushing them.

Hanako's spell flew out with some clear struggles in the aim department, much to Autumn's delight. To miss was bad, but to turn your magic on your teammate instead? (Not that Autumn hadn't been sorely tempted, of course.) Even better, he had missed even that. Truly an embarrassing display, and maybe Autumn was getting too prideful too quick but she tried less than usual to hide the bark of laughter her body begged to mock the Slytherin with.

Illowy seemed trapped in whatever trance she had been in earlier, which was for the best, probably.

The same fortunately could not be said for her or Lindsey. While Lindsey's spell only hit barely- as if now was the time to be getting sloppy, for Merlin's sake-, hers landed easily and seemed to do enough damage to keep her temporarily satisfied with her duelling abilities.

She'd have to avoid getting distracted by the flames licking up Hanako's uniform, because what was fire if not the kind of beautiful that needed one's full attention? Another time, she told herself internally.

This tide was certainly turning. If he were one of the spectators of the duel, he would’ve been deeply interested in the theatrics that were happening. Cold feets, totally missed aims, robes on fire, lovely creatures distracting each other at every turn… goddess- the drama! Alas, he found it difficult to enjoy considering he was the one with burning robes and aching from the hurl of flipendos that hit him square. Nothing was worse than hitting your own teammate. Wasn’t this the second time he failed to even aim properly? This was terribly rich considering he had just made fun of Autumn for the same thing. “ Um… there was a spider” he explained to Illowy straightforwardly. Suddenly he found it more difficult to look her in the eye.

So what was the next course of action for the cute slytherin whose robes are on fire? A cough escaped him. Shoulders tensed from the brutal pain he had just endured. Once he stood up on his feet, he took a deep breath hoping to put his mind elsewhere. You know- anywhere but the instructing amount of pain he’s in. The time to whine will be another time, day and place.

He showed the Hufflepuff’s a weak smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “ Aight aight~ I admit it’s no fun being this popular. I suppose the least I can do for you cuties is to take you seriously. You both would like that won’t you~? “ playful mockery was evident in his tone. He had severely underestimated the Hufflepuffs. And he’d be damned if he’d be the first Slytherin to lose to a bunch of Hufflepuffs, though attractive as they may be.

It wasn't long before we had our first KO, upon being hit by Lindsey, despite the lesser power of her wand because of her own ally's demeanor, poor Hanako was out for the count. Quickly taken out of the way by somebody who could take him to the medical wing.

Before he was knocked out though, he was able to cast a large cloud of fog to settle on the duelling ground, making it difficult for both of the hufflepuffs to see their target.
