For all that Auggie despises it, she looks just like her father. She's all high cheekbones, defined nose, eyes that look like they stare right through a person. Traits of a stereotypical Delahaye. And while yes, she takes after her mother in the little things, in the smattering of freckles along the bridge of her nose, in the long eyelashes, she can't escape her father's influence.

It's there in the dimple on the right side of her mouth, in the hair that fades from a dark brown to caramel, hair that touches the line between wavy and straight, hair that nearly goes golden in the sun.

But worst of all, she hates her height. She's tall, 5 foot nothing, just 2 inches below her dearest mum (who comes from rather diminutive stock). She got her father's swimmer's shoulders, a lean and agile body, all things Auggie hates (while simultaneously loving).

But her dressing style? Well- that's all her mother, tank tops layered with oversized shirts, flared jeans, combat boots, draped necklaces. Auggie takes pride in her appearance, so even if the outfit should by all means appear grungy, it still manages to make her glow.

'By all rights, Auggie is a daredevil. Perhaps not just in the fact that she tends to stay out all day in London with her friends on the weekends, skateboarding and charming stables into letting them go on on trail rides. But also, the girl's a daredevil in the way that she just doesn't stop, when it comes to it, whether it's baking something new or researching a spell in the library down the hall.

So with all that knowledge, it's not quite surprising that her hands are perpetually inkstained, her bedroom a mess of parchment and ink and textbooks spread across a bed with unmade sheets.

That being said, August is merely eleven, so these traits are sometimes masked (or rather amplified) by an excess of energy or a perceptive glance. So while she can be intense, and hyper focused, Auggie is fairly mischevious, which perhaps is a trait that shall stick throughout her years at Hogwarts.
first magic.
The problem was that August grew up surrounded by magic. Unconsciously her mother would turn pages, and move spices, and turn on the stove, both without her wand and with. So August's first instance magic started in a kitchen.

She was around 6 years at the time, haphazardly stirring a bowl of pie batter (it wasn't for customers, her mother wanted her to have something to do), and being six years old, August, darling August saw a stray kitten out the window (a cat that would ultimately become theirs), and decided to open it to let it in.

However, August was also very little. So in stretching over the the counter to open up the window, she knocked the bowl over. And then miraculously, all that happened was the bowl righting itself midair and bouncing on the ground. And try as she might, whether knocking over spices or another bowl on the ground, Auggie could never recreate that moment.
history.
August was born, not in a manor by the sea like her father or a cottage in a village like her mother, in an apartment above a little bakery in Diagon Alley, to Virginia Stapeley and Anton Delahaye, the product of an unlikely union (and romance) the previous summer.

That being said, like most summer romances, her parents union did not last. Even though Virginia was a pureblood, the child was born out of an unmarried couple, a stain the Delahaye family did not wish upon their eldest, and only, son. And as for her mother's parents, well, Viriginia was disowned, her fortune left to her sister.

So August never met her grandparents, or her father that she manages to hold great disdain for (after all how can she not, he left her mother on her own). But that was okay! Because Anton had an aunt who adored Virginia, an aunt that kept in touch with her great niece and practically became her grandmother.

And with that, August grew up above a bakery, in the streets of London, with inkstained fingers, and scraped knees, and the hum of magic all around her.

And when the admissions letter for Hogwarts arrives in the mail, Auggie is going to absolutely rule the school, one way or another. After all, it's what her father would have wanted.
