Ice, Ice, Baby

Gabriel was eager to jump at the opportunity to jump into the cold waters of the lake...again. He had heard of the errand from a friend, who obviously didn't know he had done the same a day before. The thrill of the dumb idea had gotten to his brain too early, and he'd already thought of plunging into the water before others. When he first heard of it, he cussed under his breath. He could've avoided the chilling experience on his day off since it was going to actually be allowed just the next day.Date: January 7th. Outfit:x
No one else would be able to say they'd swam in freezing water two days in a row, at the beginning of the year. If he couldn't say this after today, he would've blown off the chance. Anyone could think of this challenge, so it wasn't very creative, but he'd go anyways.
Unlike the day before, people would expect him to wear swimming wear instead of casual clothes. This would potentially form a problem since he was still recovering and sick, but he didn't care. Life was full of chances, now he'd be special and more awesome.
He grinned, strutting out of the castle and towards the great lake. He saw that many other people were there, writing or preparing for the thrill. It was already pretty chilly outside and he stood shivering, watching everyone else. He had only done it to be cool and check off something on his list. This seemed to have a different approach though. Like the popular "Ice Bucket" challenge, it's supposed to refresh you or clear your mind and stress away. He didn't believe cold water helped with any of those, those theories were just a bunch of rubbish. Who came up with it anyways?
Before getting in the water, they were told to write a new year's resolution on a piece of parchment. He turned away from all the others, scribbling his resolution on the parchment. "Break more rules with new people." Careful no one saw him writing, he turned back towards the lake. He wanted a flashy entrance; show them he wasn't scared. Other people were hesitating to jump in, but he would do no such thing. Getting a running start, he sprinted towards the unfrozen part of the lake and dived in.
You'd think one could get used the sensation of the water, but it was definitely always a shock. The water hit him like a punch of small needles. The goosebumps became more obvious on his legs and arms. He dived a tad bit more underwater before resurfacing. The chilly wind hit his face hard after the immense pressure of the water on his face, making him shake. He shredded water a bit, making sure his parchment was disintegrated under water. The five minutes in the lake felt like five hours. When the time was finally up, he climbed out and wrapped a towel around himself.
As he stood there, telling a fake resolution that was on the disappeared parchment, he thought what Pandora would think of this. Probably that he was crazy. He made a mental note to tell her when he next saw her, imagining the look on her face.
Still chattering, he sat there for a moment observing other people. Alas it became too cold out for him, he was going straight to his dorm to change and take the hottest shower known to man. As he was walking back towards the castle, a very small looking child that he didn't recognize sprinted past him. He looked absolutely terrified, as if being chased. Besides his unusual height, the one thing that stuck out about him was his funny clothes.wc:609Mentioning: @Clark William Baird-Carter

notes: OPEN TO INTERACTIONSThe wintry sun is the brightness of the cold winter day, shining so bright and lively, taking center stage as the blooms of the summertime become a part of the soil. The sunshine and cold, the sparkle and the ice, somehow warm even when the north wind bites.
Ayuna liked swimming. As a girl who excelled in sports, what's the big deal about plunging into a winter lake? She had done this many times before, jumping into the icy lake from the banks. Still, she had to admit that the weather was cold, very cold. The air is frozen lace on her skin, delicate and cold, like winter waves on sallow sand. The sky is washed with grey, watery light illuminating thin patches to brilliance. For some reason her mind conjures a stone mosaic made beautiful by the shards of a mirror and she wants to keep her eyes heaven bound while the imagination makes them one thing. Only the blowing of the wind brings her attention earthward once more, the need to stay upright pulling her mind into the present, looking at icy waters in front of her.
For this occasion, the girl was wearing a blue polka dot swimsuit with a large warm towel around. An enchanted satchel lied beside her, filled with warm clothes to change after the swim. On her feet, she wore white flip flops with blue linings.
When handed the piece of parchment, Ayuna smiled and wrote in her best handwriting:She folded the parchment and took a few step towards the water, shaking off the towel and tying her hair into a bun. Brrr... was it freezing! Her breath rises with a jocund vibe to greet the wintry cloud, to become a tiny part of warming up the cold. All around her, students were dipping there feet into the lake. That isn't the correct way to open up winter swimming. What fun is it if you go into the icy water bit by bit? she thought, I'll show them.Today is January 7th, 2023. It's the start of a new year and I would like to become more mischievous and not like a stupid know-it-all. I will get a detention at least once and become witty. When I am arguing with people, I will be quick with my mouth and think of insulting and intimidating comments to fire back instantly. Hope to make it to the Quidditch team and become a great seeker, the best in all the houses! I really want the History of Magic to be not as boring and will get an O in every subject. Perhaps I'll go home for the holidays, see Gran and Tom and Snow!
SPLASH! Ayuna jumped into the lake with no hesitation. At first she felt numb, seconds later, the feeling got back. Freeze, piercing her skin. The cold moves in only to meet the warmth of her blood, her defense against such ice. She felt it wash over her skin, again and again, only to be met by the beat of her heart, again and again.
About five minutes passed so Ayuna returned to the banks, water dripping of her skin and body. Shivering, the girl scurried to the place where she put her towel and rubbed her body dry. Looks like a hot shower will be a good idea. She'll need it.

A polar plunge in the Great Lake. That is what she and Simon, and a good many other equally insane Hogwartsians, would be doing this fine Saturday afternoon. She looked over at him and began to hop step in place.... more eager to do this than she could have imagined. As she did so, the crochet tie string from her polar bear hat thwacked her across the face. Did she look silly? Probably. Did she care? Not a whit. Besides, this would help keep her warm after she made it back to land.
She reached over and grasped Simon's hand. "This is crazy... we are crazy for doing this. Do you think your competitive swimming skills will in any way help you in that frigid water? I wonder if Herman is going to reach out and grab a human... or dhampir... frozen delight for an easy snack," and she smirked.
Students were still making their way to the shore, so she decided she should start getting ready. She quickly took off her coat and asked Simon to hold it for a moment. She then proceeded to take off her fleece sweatshirt exposing her yellow t-shirt beneath it. Next to come off were her sweat pants, exposing her black and yellow plaid shorts. She had entertained the idea of wearing her swim suit, but they were hard to get out of when wet, and AngelFyre did not plan to stay in her wet things long after leaving the frigid waters. She would keep her shoes on until the last minute. It was not a race after all.
Hmmmmm. A race.
"Want to make this even more interesting, Mr. Kincaid? What if we race to the rope barrier and back? Winner gets say, two kisses and loser gets one kiss... you know, a participation consolation prize of sorts," and she giggled. She knew he would win hands down but she also knew her suggested prizes meant there was no way she could really lose. It was a loss that produced a win win. Genius!
She took her coat back from him and put it back on. Then she stuffed her dry, warm clothes into her satchel and set it by the logs that came together in a "V". It was where she and Simon always sat when at the lake together.
Just as she turned her full attention back to Simon, caretaker Greer explained the rules and started passing out enchanted parchments to each student. Ahhhhhh. A sort of new year's resolution by any other name is still a rose, to badly paraphrase the Bard. She smiled as she accepted the parchment and thought for a moment about what to write.
Things were really wonderful with Simon. She felt like they had come to an understanding not only about how to deal lovingly and respectfully when the subject of Adrian would surface, but more importantly, how to disagree with each other. That was a critical life skill they could work to perfect for decades to come.
But what had surfaced recently was a niggling of doubt about her faithfulness to God. Her love for both Simon and Grandma Ruth catalyzed those worries. She would begin there.
ReducioWhat I pray to see manifest in me this year is a strengthening of my faith and a realignment of my priorities, if they truly are out of whack. Simon then God, or God then Simon. I need this settled. My head knows the answer, but my heart is struggling, or it seems as such.
And then there is Grandma Ruth. I pray for peace and strength when the time to say goodbye arrives. I know where she is going, but I hope not to be angry. I will be sad, but I want to feel acceptance and trust that Your plan is greater and more perfect than I am capable of understanding while in this plane of existence. Help me grow in Your love, and help me to always love Simon better.
When they both finished writing and she had folded her parchment in half 2 times over, she kicked off her shoes and dropped her coat and hat on top of them. Reaching for Simon's hand, she looked up at him and smiled.
"Hey, love... what do the they call a dhampir, who is the future father of 12, coming out of a frigid lake?" and then Caretaker Greer shouted for them to "Go!" Just before they reached the edge and plunged into the icy waters hand in hand, she yelled the answer while she still had the breath and presence of mind to be able to do so. "Popsicle!"
And then the cold hit her like a freight train. All reason left her as the immediate shock and a burning sting that was followed by heavy numbness enveloped her. Her parchment was released unnoticed.
She may have YAWPED involuntarily.
She may even have forgotten she was in a race.
Dang this was colllllllllllllllllllld. Was she even still holding Simon's hand? She did not know why, but she kept moving forward to a point where it was still shallow, but deep enough to swim. Something about a kiss made it seem important to reach the barrier, but she stopped and realized she did not know where Simon was in that moment.
She frantically began to turn in a circle, looking for him, but did not see him. Her teeth were chattering so loudly it sounded like dice being shaken together for a game of Yahtzee. She was trying not to panic. Maybe he was doing some fancy, submerged swim move trying to beat her to the barrier. Still....
She called out feebly, "Sssss - ssssiiiiii-mon?"

Bailey had noticed the posted for the newest errand a few days prior, just after her return from the Holiday. Bailey had attended several holiday parties and celebrations with her best friend, Kim. She followed Kim around, as he seemed to know his way about parties better than she did.
They were both quite social and popular, and between the two of them, they probably knew most of the people in the castle.
Changing into a black and modest swim suit, Bailey pulled on some swim shorts, and then a matching tan sweat set. Pulling on her black converses and her tan beanie, Bailey started wondering what she should bring.
im going to need something to bribe Kim with aren't i.. she thought as she packed her bag. Bailey put her wand, a notebook - journal, her water bottle, a thermos of hot tea, and a package of cookies and treats her mum had sent her for christmas. They were all homemade, and Bailey had been saving it - and now she had an excuse to open it - to bribe Kim!
With that thought, Bailey went to find Kim.
Bailey started with the great hall- lunch was probably finishing, so he would probably be there.
Bailey had eaten lunch when it was first served, and then had gone back to her dorm to change quickly. Now she was returning, not for food, but for her best friend.
Bailey spotted Kim’s blue haired head in the crowed, and snuck up behind him.
She grabbed his hand and started pulling him to the errand, which was located at the Great Lake.
Bailey smiled up at Kim, who was probably quite surprised. he didn’t think he was going to not get pulled to this errand, he should be used to it by now
Reaching the front lawn, Bailey relaxed her pace. “If you haven’t guessed, I’m taking you to the newest errand! It’s something about New Year’s resolutions and and ice plunge- it sounds like fun!!!
I won’t be offended if you don’t want to jump into the freezing lake, but I’m going to. It honestly sounds so refreshing!”
Barely wasn’t lying, she was actually honestly excited about jumping into freezing waters.
As they arrived at the great lake, they joined the crowd that was already there.
Listening to the instructions, Bailey smiled at the concern in Nurse Frogge‘s voice. Bailey thanked the caretaker, @Finley Greer, for the parchment.
Sitting on her heels, Bailey wrote down her resolutions for the year.Finishing her paper, Bailey pulled off her shoes, sweat pants and sweat shirt. She still had her swim shorts on and she was going to keep them on- the air had a definite cold bite to it.
1. Take more time for me. Take care of myself, read more. Don’t forget who I am
2. Spend more time with important friends- ie. Kim, Colin, ….
3. Find some close girl friends (cause apparently all of my close friends are guys.. hu…
4. Spend more time with dorm mates
5. Pray more often. Find a church in Hogsmead? Maybe take coco with me…
6. Write home more often
7. Be there for my friends. Be there for Kim, since he’s going through something, though he won’t saw what.
8. Enjoy life![]()

Bailey was still quite tan from her summer in Poland, from spending all summer outside in the sun. Her swimsuit showed her tan shoulders, arms, legs and back. Her hair was also pulled up and braided, leaving her back more exposed than usual.
Running into the lake, Bailey smiled, and closed her mouth as she dunked herself.
Immersing, Bailey let go of her piece of parchment. Emerging from the water again, Bailey wiped her eyes and watched as the paper disintegrated.
Bailey was shivering, the water was cold. But it was also refreshing, and she was enjoying her time in the water.
Bailey was called out, by someone.
probably a staff member, making sure I’m not freezing.
Looking around, Bailey couldn't find her towel.
i literly just had it... i swear i had it!! bailey thought, shivering. She could not find Kim either, looking around for him.

Ice, Ice, Baby
If someone had told Koko she would one day jump into the lake at Hogwarts, she would have laughed in their face no matter how rude the action might have made her seem.
Me? she might ask them. Me, jump in a lake? Are you serious?
She used to be a prefect, which meant she was a stickler for the rules because she had been one of those prefects who did not take rule-breaks lightly... But even before that, Koko had not necessarily been one to do anything daring. The closest she had come was her stint in the Astronomy Tower and the Headmaster's office in, what, her first year?
Suffice to say, it had been years since Koko had done anything daring with no purpose. Years since the small blonde had even faced danger outside of the stray bludger in quidditch. Thus... When she heard about a staff-sponsored leap in the lake, the idea was rather tempting. Despite the frigid air, despite Koko's lack of aptitude for survival in the face of danger, she was certain there was no greater way to prove that she was a new person than to jump in the lake.
Think of it as a Slytherin's baptism, if you will. If you wish. A careful dunk in the water, a brush of icy liquid across her forehead, perhaps the mumbling of words that could be a curse or a blessing, and it could be a ceremony. A form of renewal. A challenge.
And so Koko made her way to the grounds, wearing clothes she wouldn't be too upset about getting wet. Her feet ached at their lack of socks inside of crocs that would later squeak with every step Koko would take back to the castle. She thought for a moment about what she might look like to an onlooker, and she smirked, giving herself a small chuckle before remembering that no one ever quite looked at her, so no one would notice her strange appearance.
Besides, Koko thought as she drew nearer to the lake, it's not like anyone else is wearing their best clothes. I look perfectly normal.
Finally, she arrived. Perhaps she had walked too slowly, which had drawn out the time needed to arrive at the lake, but she was there, and that was what mattered. Already, Koko was beginning to grow cold, but she gritted her teeth and lifted her chin. She was strong. The growing number of students around the lake made her pull her arms closer to her, but she refused to lower her chin despite her growing discomfort. This was a renewal, a rebirth. She could do this. She had to do this, had to steel herself for the discomfort that would surely grow, especially once she did make the dip in the lake. But that was what life was about, Koko was beginning to learn. Life was simply taking the cards you were dealt and working with them, manipulating them, perhaps even trading them in so that you could work with them.
And that was what she was doing. She was trading in a hand of cards, one that wasn't particularly lousy but couldn't be used in whatever game she was trying to play, and perhaps she wanted something else. Perhaps, she thought, being quiet and sitting on the sidelines wasn't quite doing it for her anymore.
Koko smiled when the caretaker handed her a slip of parchment, and she listened to the instructions intently, although perhaps she was also focusing on keeping her breathing steady, on trying to look like the other students, who looked to Koko as if they were excited to jump in a lake full of ice and other people.
Taking a deep breath, Koko raised her hand and began to write gently on the parchment, her slightly-messy handwriting starting and stopping as she realised that this was, in fact, exactly what she wished to see from herself this year. She wanted to push herself; she wanted to see herself grow into a stronger person, one that she suddenly (despite her own past doubts) had confidence she could grow into.Koko stopped writing mostly because she was worried she would start crying if she continued. She could already feel tears, those warm, salty traitors, brewing behind her eyes, and she sighed, lowering her hand and staring at what she had written. It was as good as anything she might have come up with. In fact, she thought it was better, mostly because she wasn't that good at writing and she probably gave the editors at the Headliner such headaches, but also because it was raw yet somewhat to the point. Somewhat. She frowned and added one more thing.Dear future self,
I think you should take more chances. You should get out there more. It's good for you, you know. Not hiding in your dormitory with your cat and a cup of tea. That's not good for you. Socialisation, this thing you've been missing for who knows how long, might help you smile more, and maybe you won't find yourself being so scared all the time.
You might miss me—you know,me, your past self—but I assure you, you'll be fine. Absolutely fine. You might even find yourself doing well. So smile. Keep your chin raised, just a little but not too much, not so much that you seem smug because you're not. Well. I hope you're not. You shouldn't be.With that, Koko stared at the lake, the icy lake, and she took a deep breath. She thought about holding it, she really did, and maybe she meant to, but all of a sudden she was running and she couldn't quite stop. Maybe she jumped into the lake. Maybe it was more of a calculated fall. Maybe it wasn't calculated at all. Nonetheless, she ended up in the lake, and she gasped, no words coming out aside from incoherent utterances as her nerves came to terms with just how cold the water really was. What you SHOULD be is a new you. But not so different from me that people don't recognise you. Just different enough to be comfortable in your own skin. That's all I want from you.
She didn't notice that her paper was gone from its spot between her fingers, completely dissolved in the water. She lifted her head, realising the spot wasn't too deep, and she lifted herself out of the lake, shivering, but something was different. Her lips curved upwards at the edges, not with menace or arrogance but with functional joy, a giddy sort of joy that Koko hadn't felt since her first year at Hogwarts, since her exploration in the Astronomy Tower. She accepted the coat offered by one of the instructors, shuddering with discomfort as her clothes stuck to her, but she still smiled. This was new. This was the new her.WC: 1152

Outfit: great kilt and a green towel!

No one ever had to ask Colin twice if he wanted to go swimming in the lake! For that matter, no one had to ask Colin at all! The lake was one of his favourite spots on the Hogwarts grounds, and he'd been swimming several times already. Usually, though, he just jumped in for a bit of cooling off after a run, but today was quite different! First off, it was the beginning of winter and it was cold. Second off, Caretaker Greer was in charge!
Colin wrapped himself up in his feileadh mòr, or greatkilt, which was really nothing more or less than a whopping long bit of wool cloth, and charged out of the Slytherin common room with a loud and energetic whoop of excitement for any catatonic older students who preferred to remain holed up in the dim dungeon that was House Slytherin. He dashed up all forty seven crore eight hundred ninety thousand two hundred score and eighty eight steps that led up from his home near the centre of the Earth all the way up to the ground floor and flew out into the crisp Highland air.
"YAWOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!" he yowled as he flat out ran down towards the lake side. There were a bunch of kids there already and Colin was excited to get this going! He skipped up towards the table and undid his kilt. He tossed the towel on top, leaving him in nought but his Ravenclaw boxers, wolf fang necklace and a cloth drawstring pouch for his wand tied to his right arm. He cried out: "YyaAayY! Let's go for a swiiiiimmmmm!!"
But before he could leap into the water, Caretaker Greer came along giving everyone small bits of paper. "Hiya! This is for you, write something on it that you would like to do or see in yourself this year. Like a vision board or something," she said. Colin had no idea what a vision board was, but writing something down that he'd like to do for the new year sounded fun!
Borrowing a quill and ink, he sprawled out on the grass and wrote out the following:
"WHEW!! That's a lot!" he said as he got ready to take the plunge! And as soon as the signal was given, Colin let out a howl: "OWOOOOOOOOO!!" He took off at a run and soon left the cool grass behind for the cold sand and mud of the shore. PLISH - PLASH!! his bare feet hit the cold water of the lake and with a yeep of excitement he dove leapt and dove into the water with a huge splash! "WOOO!!" he took a breath and dove under. He could see that the bit of paper with his list on it disintegrated, just as Caretaker Greer had said it would!1. Get to know CLAAAIIIRRR better!
2. Try to be a good leader for the Pack
3. Find out what's wrong with Kim (and what's up with him and Bailey!!
4. Try to stay out of trouble!
5. Find out what's been going on at home.
After a few strokes he surfaced again. "WHOA! It's a bit nippy in here, eh Bails?" He shouted over towards Bailey, but he wasn't sure if she heard him. Oh well! Have to catch up with her later! His polar wolf swim done, he stood up and waded back towards the shore, thankfully remembering to make sure he hadn't lost his boxers somewhere along the way. They were riding a bit low as Colin waded the last couple yards, but that was easily fixed and with a cry of "THAT WAS SOOO MUCH FUN!" he ran back over to find his things.
"Best clean up first, lad!" he said, shivering a bit. He'd managed to pick up some sand and weed debris and quite likely some small fish in his hair. He sighed. He got out his wand and quickly cast the adventurer's best friend, scourgify, over himself before wringing out his hair and grabbing his towel. Once reasonably dried off, Colin wrapped up in his kilt again and went over to fetch a rather spiffy looking dark green and black winter coat. He put that on, and found that it was rather warm! "Thanks Nurse Froggo and Caretaker Greer! This is nice!"
Turning back towards the castle, Colin laughed! He'd just plunged into the winter cold lake! As he ran back up to the gates, his towel flapping from his upraised arm like a battle falg, he wondered if the Merfolk ever got cold down where they lived deep under the water. He also wondered if Clair had taken the plunge! He didn't see her there, but it was possible she had already gone and now sipping hot choco high up in her tower home!
Colin shrugged as charged through the courtyard and back into the castle. He'd definitely have to find Clair later and have a chat with her! Especially after what they'd talked about the other day. And after all, she was Number One on his list!

Swimwear(with Aurora wearing it, person included):
Reducio

I was about to solidify my New Year's resolution. By jumping into the Great Lake. In January. With nothing but a swimsuit on, a swimsuit that was made for summer weather. Oh, and let's not forget that we are in Scotland, where the winters seem to be freezing. But, I decided to do this because it would be fun. And I wanted to start off the new year with a fresh start. But I was ready to do this. Who knows, maybe it won't be as bad as I thought? It could be like clearing your mind by splashing your face with below-freezing cold water, just worse...thinking about that didn't make me feel better.
So now here I was, standing by the Great Lake, in a one-piece blue and red swimsuit, shivering. A lot. I proceeded to pull my hair back into a bun as the chilly wind showed no mercy to my bare feet, arms, and legs. The cold made me sniff. Soon, the caretaker, the same person I had met when I was sailing across this very lake about 4 months ago, on my first day at Hogwarts. She passed around small pieces of parchment, telling us to write our "vision" for 2023. I thought for a moment, then started writing.
For 2023, I have a multitude of goals and things I want to do. For one, I actually want to start studying instead of pretending to. I tried starting that early last December, but it didn't really work. But I'll keep trying! I also plan to be nicer to my brother this year. He's an obnoxious 4th year Hufflepuff, and he sometimes ticks me off completely. My mum suggested this one, not me, but I plan to try and live up to it. Will it work? I'm not sure...yet. Hopefully, it will, or I'll be in trouble. This is kind of an everybody thing, I want to get good grades this year and help my house win the House Cup. And then there's sports...I'll try to join one of the sports teams by December, preferably broom racing. I'm still trying to learn Irish, and I'm close to fluent in Scottish, but since I don't speak those languages very much, I still have to work to remember them. Plus, I want to start learning French, something that I've always wanted to do, and maybe later, go to France! Or Quebec. Anywhere they speak French. There's a bunch more things I want to do, personal goals I've set for myself, but I'm running out of room, but at least I'll remember everything...hopefully.
After finishing, I heard the caretaker's signal to go. I ran as fast as I could and jumped. I hoped to look(and land)as graceful as a gazelle or ballerina, but sadly, this was not the case. I landed with an almighty splash, even though it wasn't that deep, and I felt the sensation that the water was giving me a wedgie of sorts, or slapping me. When I landed in the water, I nearly screamed. "Oh my GOD! Cold, cold, COLD!!!" I yelled, splashing around for about 2 minutes before I decided that I didn't want to transform into an ice cube.
I quickly got out of the water and was met with the bitter cold winds, and I felt like my skin would literally freeze. I almost forgot to toss in my parchment, so I quickly tossed it in the lake and ran over to Nurse Frogge and the caretaker. I was no courageous, lion-hearted Gryffindor, but I didn't have to be to do that! I was sure that a lot of people wouldn't want to ever do that again, but to be honest, I certainly would! In fact, I was smiling as I wrapped myself in a towel and said to myself, "What I would give to do that again someday!" Preferably with the certainty of hot chocolate, along with the warmest coat in Great Britain, but I was pretty sure that wasn't gonna happen. I gave myself a pat on the back for completing the errand...and for packing swimwear in my trunk.

The one thing that Cash did not miss the most was how crowded and loudly the castle can be when another school year had begun. Throughout the Christmas and Winter holidays, the young Ironwoods had spent their free time roaming around the school. It was a wise decision in their own opinion.
Cash could think more clearly without the bustling sound of their peers. But just like many other occurrences, good things must come to an end. It was fun while it lasted the Headliner's writer thought to themselves. And so, as the new year rolled in, so does a new errand that had been announced and posted.
At first, Cash had no intention to join the frat but as soon they heard it was an opportunity to take a plunge in the deadly cold weather or winter, who was them to pass it up? Cash had no opportunity to send an owl to ask for their swimwear to be sent to school and so Cash walked up to the Great Lake with what they wore.
Once Cash arrived at the Great Lake when they thought there was not much of a daredevil amongst the students, the group of people who already gathered surrounded the two supervisors for the day proved them wrong. Cash stood a bit far from the crowd but still could hear Professor Greer's instructions very clearly.
When Professor Greer distributes the necessary utensils, they thanks the Professor. This is the first time they met the Caretaker and the School Nurse. Since often these days the staff team of the schools keep changing, Cash could not keep up with the trend. Once the parchment and the quill were in their hand, Cash looked down at the blank paper.
While others were firm believers of New Year's resolution, the young Beater did not share the sentiment. But still, Cash need to write something if they wanted to join the errand. They tapped the feather of the quill against their cheek as they think it through. For a while, Cash's mind came up blank.
Wishes only lead to heart break the fourth year thought cynically. They looked to their left and right, their peers already write down something on their pieces of parchment and take the plunge. The wind picked up and it made Cash shiver on their spot. Several minutes have passed and yet Cash's parchment is still empty.
They almost gave up and want to return the writing tools back to Professor Greer but they did not want to miss the fun. And so, Cash wrote a simple wish that perhaps they wanted to see happen. Be your authentic self and show your true color. It is slightly ambiguous, short, and vague. As they said, Cash was not the kind of person that was big on wishes or wishful thinking.
And so, after Cash write down their short wishes, they took off the outer layer of their clothing and left the black thermal outfit as their 'swimwear'. They unclipped the wand holster that contained their wand from their upper left arm. Once it was unclipped, Cash put it down on the cold grassy ground near their pile of clothes.
The gust of cold air blew the bare skin that was not covered and Cash had to jump up and down to fight the cold. "Bloody hell! why am I doing this in the first place?"They said to no one in particular. And after Professor Greer gave the go signal, Cash dived into the icy lake without thinking much about it.
The parchment was balled up on their fist and when the paper met the icy water, it dissolved quickly. "Joder! hace un frío de cojones fuck! it is cold as hell!"The Cuban descendant let out a protest when the icy water met their warm skin. As soon as the paper had been dissolved into the water, Cash hurriedly get out from the cold inferno.
They once again jumped up and down to shake out the cold. Cash then picked up their wand and make a perfect movement and said the correct incantation for the hot air spell and pointed their wand at themselves. Since the angle of their wand is kind of bent and their hands still shaking from the cold, the gust of warm air did not warm their entire body as much as they like.
But still, a hot air spell is a hot air spell. And not so long after that the cold that Cash felt subsided but not so much. Once Cash dried enough, they put on their clothes that were piled up on the ground earlier. The clothing gave some warmth but their entire body was still cold as ice.
They were about to call it a day and walked to where both Professor Greer and Nurse Frogge were situated to receive the winter coat from either one of them but their eyes caught sight of one Bailey Glade. "Looking for something, Glade?"They asked the young Ravenclaw. "I can help dry you out with a hot air spell and give you a bit of warmth if you want,"The Prefect said as they shake their wand with their still cold but slowly gained warm hands.

| ─── | It was a cold January afternoon.
One could almost identify this time as being sometime in late December due to the absolute coldness. He wouldn't even have been surprised if it suddenly started to snow outside. This particular errand was one Kim had actually decided to go to on his own. Most of the time whenever errands tended to pop up, Bailey would seek him out and drag him off to participate in them. It had gotten to be a trend for them and something he'd come to depend upon, although he'd never admit that to himself or to others. Especially not to Bailey. Kim didn't want to be seen with a weakness, his parents had drilled that into him over and over..... It was one of the main reasons why he'd been so reluctant at the beginning to make true friends. Kim didn't want to get betrayed by them, or worse lose them. Bailey was different. Only Sophia and Bailey had connected to him on a level that went beyond just friendship. Gia, Eun-ji and Andre didn't count because they were more like family to him. A sigh escaped his lips as he got up from the end of the Gryffindor table to head towards the entrance. Maybe this time he'd go find Bailey for once for the errand. But Kim was too late. A small crowd appeared. Thankfully, his nerves weren't frayed right now and it didn't bother him at the moment, for now at least. As long as the crowd dissipated within a minute, he'd be fine. It was around this time that someone grabbed his hand and although his first instinct was to yank it away, the grip felt familiar. Almost soothing and comforting and his brow furrowed as he looked down through the sea of faces. Kim was pulled out of the crowd and towards the door and as soon as he'd made it through, Bailey's lovely face presented itself to him. Of course. It was her. Miss Ray of Sunshine. Maybe he'd start calling her that from now on, as a cute name. What was it they called it? Right, a pet name. Sunshine did fit her, although at the same time a lot of other people already called her that and Kim made a face. He didn't want to call her by a name everyone else did if he was going to give her a nickname. Kim decided he'd have to give it a bit more thought before coming up with one as nicknames were important to him. It meant he felt comfortable enough to be relatively close to someone. He'd start out by calling them by their first or last name, depending on their preference to them. Over time he'd graduate to giving them a nickname. If the two of them managed to get close. But that was hard to do as Kim didn't tend to trust others easily. As he was pulled out of the castle by Bailey, Kim was glad he'd already worn his swim trunks beneath his clothes. Or else he'd have been unable to participate in the errand, as he didn't want to get his outfit wet. Yes, there were spells and towels to dry off and warm them afterward. But Kim was quite particular about his outfits. He was currently dressed in a white T, a long-sleeved pastel green nature designed shirt, blue jeans and a multi-colored fur jacket, because he'd been prepared to go outside to participate in the errand. Of course, Bailey gave him a smile, probably hoping that her smile would get her out of a grumpy look from him. But that didn't work on him! Kim wouldn't be swayed by this, although this time was different. He'd actually known about this errand and had intended on going there even before Bailey had accosted and dragged him off to it. Not that he'd tell her that, he'd let her stew, wondering if he was mad at her about pulling him to the place. An idle thought came to mind, what if he pulled a prank at the errand? A fun one. He crushed the thought as soon as it came. Pulling a prank at an errand was the worst possible place to do it at. Prefects and staff would be there. But the prankster inside him wouldn't quit wondering how it would go over and what it was he would do if he did play one. Perhaps not this time but during another event maybe? Kim toyed with the idea but was abruptly distracted when the caretaker started to explain what the errand was about. Soon after, she handed out pieces of enchanted parchment paper to each of them. New Year's resolutions. Kim would have written down generic things if it hadn't been enchanted to dissipate. But since it wouldn't be seen by other people..... He'd be truthful for once about his own inner feelings. Like the diary he'd started to keep ever since coming to Hogwarts. Technically, it hadn't started upon his first year there. Kim had kept a detailed account of things inside his journal ever since he'd learned how to write in the first place. But he'd always been secretive about it and no one had ever known he'd been doing it all his life. A yawn escaped his lips again, he hadn't gotten sleep last night again courtesy of his insomnia. Maybe stress was making it come back lately. Kim focused on writing down some resolutions. 1) Continue getting O's in all my classes but Flying Class. 2) Try and get a D in Flying Class and work my way up to an A grade. 3) Get better at dueling and win at least one match during my 2nd year. 4) Keep the current members of my clubs and get some new ones. 5) Keep busy so I have no free time outside of classes, homework, clubs. 6) Do something that makes my father proud of me. 7) Try not to think about Sophia and hope no one asks about her. There. Seven resolutions should be enough to write down. It wasn't as if anyone was ever going to read it. Kim looked up just as Bailey started to strip in front of him. The blue haired teen's eyes widened and his lips parted, as almost her entire back was exposed to him. It was the first time he'd seen this sight and his heart skipped a beat, a foreign thought coming into his mind. Since when had she gotten so attractive? Kim's eyes flickered from her shoulder blades, up to her braided hair, done in a fashion he'd never seen before. Once more, his eyes dipped downward to her exposed skin again. He'd gotten caught off guard, that was for sure. What was this attack?! He was only able to close his mouth when Bailey emerged from the water. But that didn't help him. Seeing her all dripping wet made him feel rather strange. Kim shook his head, trying to banish such thoughts and pulled a rolled up towel from where he'd stored it before. Earlier, he'd stuck one into his waistband, so he didn't need to bring his satchel to the errand. Ironically, it was a dark blue towel, which matched Bailey's House color and Kim's current hair color of the month. Kim moved over to Bailey. Drawing closer to the girl, Kim abruptly raised the dark blue towel and lowered it down onto her head. Part of it draped onto her shoulders, while the rest remained on top of her head as Kim started to gently move his hand back and forth. "Silly girl, don't ever forget your towel when you do something like this. Can't have you get sick, can we?" He commented and continued to dry Bailey's hair for a few seconds. "Dry yourself off while I go finish the errand and we can head out." Kim told her after some time. The blue haired teen started to strip off his own clothes now. But it took a lot longer for him to do, as he was wearing three layers of them, instead of Bailey's one layer. As soon as the fur jacket, long-sleeved shirt, whiteT and blue jeans came off, a pair of pastel orange swim trunks that stopped right beneath his knees was revealed to anyone who happened to be watching him. Kim folded each set of clothes and placed them neatly off to the side. This way when he emerged from the freezing water and used the towel to dry off, he could instantly put on his clothes again. Goosebumps rose on his skin as the cold air hit it but Kim didn't let it bother him. As long as he did it quick, it would all be good. Kim grabbed the piece of enchanted parchment paper and strode into the water. Yes, it really was COLD but he didn't let a single sound escape his lips. He clenched his teeth together and submerged himself into the waters. A memory of swimming with his friends when he'd been a child surfaced into his mind, that was back when he'd been happy and thought his friends were actually friends. Innocence. He'd once had it. Once he was sure the parchment had disintegrated, he came to the surface and swam back towards the shoreline. |

Bailey smiled, and dove forwards into the water. It was cold, but so nice and refreshing.
bailey laughed when she saw Coco enter.
Colin seemed to enjoy everything, and to put all of his enthusiasm and happiness into everything, and bailey could not resist smiling every time she saw him.
He called over to Bailey, and she smiled wider. She called out back to him, saying "Ay, it is a tad cold - though i am enjoy it!"
Bailey exited the lake, and started shivering as her bare skin met the chilly air. She went back to where she had left her clothes, and more importantly, her towel, only to find it missing. Bailey was standing there shivering when the Slytherin prefect asked if she was missing something, and offered to help.
Bailey started replying, and had said "yes, im missing my towel and i don't know where it went " when Kim surprised her, by laying a towel over her head, and shoulders. He rubbed her hair with the towel to dry it, and Bailey blushed as he almost teased her, saying that she should be more careful, and not to forget things, otherwise she could get sick.
what... just... happened... she thought, her brain stuttering.
Kim stopped drying her hair, but it had been long enough for Bailey's brain to restart and for her to properly function again.
Bailey turned to look at Kim, and somehow the combination of sight of him, with the added fact that he had just been so close, caused her heart to skip a beat.
"Ok!" bailey said to kim, and then turned to Cassandra and said "never mind, thank you for your offer, it looks like Kim has my back"
Bailey then got distracted, watching kim remove his layers of clothing.
i don't think i've ever seen kim without a jacket before, let alone shirtless.. Bailey thought, watching as Kim strode into the water.
Bailey shook herself mentally, and finished drying off. After pulling on her sweat set again, bailey pulled out her wand and cast the hot air charm to dry the towel off.
thank you cass bailey thought gratefully. i never would have thought to do that... sometimes i forget i am a witch
when Kim would return for his clothes, bailey would wrap the towel over his sholders.
"thanks for having my back - here's your towel back!" Bailey said, with a little smile. It was a special smile, different somehow from her usual infectious and purely joyful smiles.
