Whoo boy. This would be a fun one.

First of all, what sort of professor kept a box specifically for things as mundane as hammers and glasses? He hadn't seen many kids around the halls wearing glasses, so every moment he sat there in silence, the more curious the Prefect grew.

After bangs of the hammer, cracks of the glass, and a completely normal lecture like any Professor would give, Anatole finally opened his well-shielded eyes to discover the tragedy of the..."shade glasses". It really was sad that there was a spell just for this purpose. Then again...when would he need this? It was almost like some Muggle school subjects - entirely useless. Apparently the Wizarding World wasn't very different.

Carefully following in line to the desk, Anatole grabbed himself a hammer that was all too heavy for him and a pair of thick-rimmed glasses. The perfect victim had a thicker rim, he pondered. More stuff to break!

The hammer required two hands from the tanned boy, so he dropped it on the stone floors for a few moments to toss the glasses on his face. Instantly, his vision grew a little blurry. Barely keeping his balance, he moseyed over toward the back of the class and shook his head, the glasses falling onto the stone floor. They were already loose, so Anatole took a striking blow to the bridge of them with his hammer. The pathetic glasses snapped in half and the left lens cracked.

And the sight of this made Anatole smile. A prime target for the spell.

Steadying his stance, Anatole moved the glasses to his desk (leaving his hammer on the floor) and attempted to cast the spell. "Oculus Reparo!" Carefully avoiding the desk, Anatole jerked his wand at the mangled mess of glasses. Like glass and plastic did, it just sat there. Nothing had happened.

"You've got to be kidding." His glance flickered over to the hammer he had left, and for a moment, he contemplated picking up the hammer again and smashing the glasses more, but instead, he decided to give it another go. Clearing his throat and rolling his shoulders back, he scooted closer to the desk and tried it again, tapping the eyeglasses. "OCK-you-liss Re-PAH-roh," he casted, noticing other students had overexaggerated their speech.

Well, maybe that was the trick. Anatole tore his eyes away from the glasses for one moment as the red light flashed, and when he turned back, they were whole again. Pumping his fist and then nervously looking around at the others, he slunk back into his chair, eyeing the hammer once more before folding the glasses up and pushing them away from himself. They were nice, yes, but not...his style. Just like the spell.

"Nice one, Anatole," Alpheus said as he nodded at the boy's efforts, noting the repaired glasses. "Keep up the great work!"

Professor Wordsworth's exceedingly exciting classes were making him a significant competitor when it came to the best teacher at Hogwarts. Professor Henley had given them chocolate chip cookies.. but bubbles and smashing things really had boosted the man's chances.

Scott was over the moon.

He hurried up to the front, happy with having taken a seat closer to the teacher's desk this time, and grabbed himself a pair of shade glasses along with a hammer the size of the boy's forearm. He also took this opportunity to grin greatly over to the professor, as if calling out a silent Yes! Thank you! before returning. A big hammer was perhaps what Scott had always wanted.

Well back behind his desk, Scott laid his object to be be destroyed before him carefully, not rushing to have the pair damaged by his hands instead of the instrument to his service.

Looking around, and seeing people already at hilarious work, he gripped the shaft with two hands so not to miss, and hit the pair right on the bridge to snap it in half. The glass, of course, cracked furiously- but it was the violent split of the two parts that thrilled him the most, and he smiled around the room as if only to share the incredible feeling of destroying things. Never had he known he was so ruthless.

But now it was time for the actual work.

Laying the hammer down (for now, this was something he could repeat over and over), he gripped his wand instead. One of the best things about this charm was the lack of a precise wand gesture, the end of the long wood should simply be tapped against the glasses. So with his free hand Scott pushed the two pieces together again, and swept the biggest fractures of glass closer, so not to have too much flying around.
Then, with a light touch of his wand to the black frame, Scott incanted "Oculus Reparo!", to have a red flash of light erupt from the tip before the item quickly had itself repaired. The bridge as if glued itself back shut, the small pieces of glass flew into place and had the cracks slim into nothingness.

Scott didn't know anyone who wore glasses, except for Ben when their mother was around to tell him to, but the potential use of a spell meant nothing to a boy who had just gotten to smash a pair of shade glasses.

"Professor! Are we allowed to keep these?" He grinned as his eyes were hidden behind the shades now, but he knew there was no doubt he was talking about the hammers.

You've learned the spell!

"Amazing, Scott," Alpheus said as he nodded at the boy's efforts, noting the repaired glasses. "You got the hang of it now! You can keep the shades, yeah, but the hammers... sure why not?"

The Professor grinned as he moved around the class.

EYEGLASSES REPAIR CHARM

Dorothy traced the head of the hammer with her finger as she stared at the teacher.  The girl was hunched over on her desk, and looking very disgruntled.  Normally, new teachers were fun and exciting.  This one was too much so.  Not only was he wearing muggle things, but a flashy cape rested over his shoulders.  His nails were painted, and his hair was long and curly.  His lockhartesqe smile finished off the look of a very silly man.

Dorothy frowned as he mentioned a spell.  The 'Shadeglasses repair spell'?  Dorothy hadn't seen nor heard of these 'shadeglasses'.  She came to the conclusion that they were some sort of muggle invention, and gingerly picked them up for inspection.  They were black and shiny, with long legs and curved feet.  They looked like some sort of strangle, fashion accessory.  Did they do anything? Dorothy glanced around at the others before giving the glasses a hesitant shake.  Nothing happened.

The strange little man asked them to smash the muggle relics.  Dorothy complied only too willingly.  Her hand wobbled a bit when she picked up the hammer, and she had to grip it with both to hold it comfortably.  The blonde raised it to eye-level before bringing it down at an arduous speed.  Spiderweb cracks appeared all over the shadeglasses before they fragmented off like a melting iceberg.  Dorothy brought the hammer down on the things once more, before giving a satisfied smirk.  The once flashy shadeglasses looked more like chunky black dust now.   Served them right, filthy things.

"Oculus Reparo! Oh, if you get it right, you'll notice a flash of red light, followed by snazzy repaired glasses... and if you do it wrong, well, nothing happens. Basically."  Dorothy shot the professor an agitated look at the words 'snazzy repaired glasses' and yanked a polished wand out of her robe pocket.  Turning to the shattered glass, she gently tapped a particularly long shard with the tip of her wand.  "Ocoolous Reparo."  Nothing happened.  The frustrated Hufflepuff gripped her wand so her knuckles turned white, before giving the spell another go.  "Oculus Reparo!"

The pieces of the glasses trembled, before zooming into action.  They rapidly began piecing themselves together, like a puzzle solving itself.  Snap, crackle, click, ding!  In no time at all, a perfectly boring normal pair of shadeglasses sat on the table.  Dorothy picked them up and held them out for the teacher to see.  "I did it, Professor Alfalfa.  Where's the wastebasket?"  She dangled the glasses by their feet and glanced around for a trashcan.  Why would a pureblood like her want this muggle junk?  She didn't even know what they were for!

"Very cool, Dorothy," Alpheus said as looked down at the repaired glasses, noting the disregard for the item. "Feel free to leave them on the desk if you don't want them, I'll collect any left behind!"

The Professor grinned as he moved around the class.

Oculus Reparo was the spell Verla had to try. She was slightly confused as to how to pronounce it, but after a few students setting an example of how to do it, Verla felt confident for the first time at creating a charm.

This would come in handy since she was so clumsy. Breaking a window at home or in the school, this lesson was worth learning. Verla's turn had come to preform the spell. So she stood up in her spot, and looked at her broken piece of glass, and said "Oculus Reparo!" Nothing. She straightened her position as some kids giggled at her attempted failure. She didn't try to fail, she was trying hard, maybe too hard?

She raised her hand, and said "Oculus Reparo! Oculus Reparo! Ugh! Oculus Reparo!" After several attempts, Verla wanted to give up, until she heard her mother in the back of her head "give up Verla, and you'll never achieve anything in life." Her last attempt since students had only done it so many times until they'd given up, she hoped would work.

So, Verla gripped her wand tightly and closed her eyes, and imagined the glasses being repaired. She opened her eyes and calmly said "Oculus Reparo." A flash of red came from her wand, and seconds later, the glasses repaired itself into a fixed object. Verla was so proud of herself. She couldn't believe she'd learned a new spell, hopefully. She remembered asking the professor about Oliver, and once the rest of the class was done, she walked up to him and asked "professor? Have you spoken to the others about Oliver? If not then I understand, you've been busy I'm sure."

"Good work, Verla," Alpheus said with a grin, before his expression became a little more wry. "I, uh, don't think discussing ruling matters is appropriate in class... but, since you asked, the Professors didn't change their minds, sorry."

The Professor offered a sympathetic expression before he gave a thumbs up.

"Still, you did great with the spell!"

Iterum qum WizKids!

Again with the Wizkids, was the meaning of the errant thought that made its way not lazily as most thoughts but as a streak of light, irritated orange. And again an interestingly hands-on lesson, a far better notion than the phrase WizKids... and best of all, she could see hammers in the room!

Hammers tended to stay low on her list of preferred weapons if the knife still tucked in her sash was any indication. She much preferred blades to hammer, wit to brute force. Perhaps brute force would accomplish most things, but it was a matter of how much force one had in reserve and whether or not brute force was the most efficient-- to be fair, at times it was, even though it usually, almost always wasn't.

Today did not involve brute force... or so she thought until she had the pleasure of grimacing as Professor Wordsworth raised the hammer. A barely noticeable cringe was all the movement she made before the hammer came down to tap the sunglasses-- shade glasses, sunglasses, did it matter so?-- and the glass, or plastic, in them shattered. As soon as he said the word spell, something clicked in her mind-- there was barely a spell existent that she did now already know existed, and the Eyeglass Repair Charm was not quite different. Oculus Reparo, she mouthed along with the History of Magic professor as he spoke, the words rolling off her tongue.

Suddenly, unexpectedly, it was her turn-- their turn-- to break the glasses, perform the spell. Learn the spell. Carefully and a little pensively, the girl lifted the hammer delicately in her slender fingers. Most kids her age, especially the boys, would delight in the prospect of being instructed to destroy in class-- she, alas, was not quite most kids her age.

Tap. Tap... CRACK. Hmm... perhaps destroying things were, admittedly, a little satisfying. A beautiful spider web of cracks had been spun across the glass, a couple of tiny pieces falling out from the lens-- just right for practice. Now came the even better part-- spellcasting.

Drawing the wand from out of her sleeve with two fingers, her left hand curled into a loose grip on the polished chestnut. Most of the time she would waver between using her left or right hand, not sure which to choose, but the wand had been stowed in her right sleeve today-- using her left would be more convenient. The perks, of course, of being ambidextrous.

Studying the sunglasses, the young Ravenclaw stuck the tip of her tongue out at it for a moment. It was a pretty pair of sunglasses, too, with the simple, thin silver frame thickening and turning up to a double cat's eye end. The slightly iridescent glass was cracked and broken now, of course, but it was her job the fix it. At least this spell did not require a complicated gesture like the Knockback Jinx had-- it'd taken her so many, too many tries to master that one. Hopefully, this one wouldn't be the same. OK-yoo-lis ri-PAH-row. Oculus Reparo. She cleared her throat, not bothering with repeating the words to herself aloud.

"Oculus Reparo," she intoned, rapping the bridge of the sunglasses sharply. A short moment passed as her eyebrows arched thinly, barely enough to be noticed, in expectancy of a reaction. Unfortunately, she was not privileged with one quite yet-- the glass did nothing at all. Were the pieces arranged mockingly? Could shattered pieces of sunglasses be described as mocking? Alas, Cel did not know the answers.

Frowning, the girl rushed to detect her error. From her own ears, she could not deduce anything wrong with her pronunciation, which was not unusual. Her focus-- perhaps it had been dragged off course? It didn't seem like the main problem. But what about her wand gesture...? True it was that it was one of the simplest gestures that one could perform, but whilst her own tap had been a sharp, hard knock on the bridge of the glasses, perhaps she was meant to do it more softly, like the professor had, a gentle tap in the likes of tapping the keys of a xylophone.

Mimicking the idea in her mind to the best of her ability, Cel cleared her throat again-- it felt a little strange today-- and spoke. "Oculus Reparo." Not loud, not soft-- the combination she'd grown to learn was the best for spellcasting, although she still tended to err on the soft side. Succeed she did, however, when a muted flash of red rewarded her efforts, and the pieces of glass clicked together, one piece sliding to meet another. The glasses had shifted barely a centimeter from their former position, and she set her wand on the table to run a finger over the immaculate, unsullied surface of the left lens. She tossed it from her left hand to her right, examining its arms and silver frame-- literally throwing shade, the absolutely immature, quirky part of her brain giggled. The rest of her brain replied with a well-worded shut up.

Sunglasses was not her usual accessory, but these seemed to fit her moderately well. Hesitantly she slid them onto her face, green and brown irises blocked by the dark lenses. A few moments of admiring her pale reflection in the window was all she took before turning away again, allowing the glasses to fall slightly down her nose bridge from her line of sight. "Professor-- we are meant to keep these, right? And from where did you acquire them?" The latter question was added a little more quietly than the prior-- it was, nonetheless, a legitimate one.

"Excellent as always, Celynne," Alpheus said as he observed the repaired shade glasses - or sunglasses, or whatever they were called. It didn't matter to him. "And you can certainly keep them if you want. If not, leave them on the desk and I'll collect them later."

The Professor grinned and lowered his own voice to answer her question...

"I like to venture out and go on fashion raids to Muggle stores... and in this one place, called a convenient shop, I found rows and rows of shade glasses. So, I bought them all. Same with the hammers!"

This felt wrong. Frost's slender fingers wrapped around the handle of the hammer. Breaking glasses on purpose felt so terribly wrong to her. How could she break them when she wore her own pair every single day? It just felt wrong.

Professor Wordsworth was a peculiar man in Frost's eyes. Not a bad kind of peculiar, just quite strange. The blonde man wore a cape, which in her opinion was super cool, and he seemed to know much about muggle fashion. And he had been a Hufflepuff when he was growing up in Hogwarts. Frost had never known a man like him. She quite liked him and all his quirks.

Shadeglasses? Wow! The girl had never seen so many in one place before. Some of her fellow students had corrected the professor, telling him that they were "sunglasses". But Frost very much agreed that they were "shadeglasses", as she had called them that her whole life.

"Oh? Sunglasses? I've always called them shadeglasses. But it's a shame I could never find a pair big enough to fit over my actual glasses." The ginger pushed up her glasses back as she said this.

The "sunglasses" sat on her desk, awaiting the hammer to be brought upon them. Destroying things, especially when they didn't belong to her, was something Frost was taught to never do. She was always taught to treat absolutely everything and everyone with respect. If mother could see her now.

The short girl raised the hammer above her head. "I'm so sorry, you beautiful shadeglasses." She pouted and closed her eyes before bringing the hammer down with a large THUD!

Frost started to inadvertently panic. What if she couldn't perform the spell? What if she had broken the poor shadeglasses for nothing?

No no. You will be able to do the spell. Just believe in yourself now. Or else those poor shadeglasses will be mad at you!

The ginger pulled out her wand from her leather boot and raised it to meet the shattered glass. "Oculus Repario!"

Nothing happened. Hmm. Was it not "repario"? How about "reparo"?

"Oculus Reparo?"

Sound sure of yourself! That'll surely work! Frost straightened her back and looked directly into the shade's "eyes".

"Oculus Reparo!"

A bright red light shot from her wand. Had she done it? I mean, she saw the light, right?

The Hufflepuff's hazel eyes went wide. In front of her, on the desk, sat perfectly unbroken shades.

"Ooooh!" The girl grabbed them and slid them onto her face. These ones actually fit over her regular glasses!

With a big goofy grin, she smiled at the blonde professor. "Professor, can this spell be used on regular glasses? It would be quite helpful in case mine broke." Her voice grew softer and her smile faded a little. "Professor, do you think the shadeglasses are angry at me for smashing them?"

She just had to know. After all, in her eyes everything had feelings.

You've learned the spell!
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

"You're doing well, Frost!" Alpheus said as nodded, seeing her wearing the shade glasses comfortably on her face. "Anything involving ocular glasses of any type, shape or size, yes, even monocles!"

The Professor smirked at the follow up question, giving a thumbs up.

"Don't worry, I'm sure you didn't hurt their feel-lens..."

Smash things! He said it with such excitement. Cecily was terrified. How he sounded so excited! Why was smashing glasses so exciting! It certainly wasn't to Cecily. She raised her eyebrows as she held a hammer in her hand. She hated to break something that she wore almost every day in the summer. Her muggle father probably would have scolded her for breaking such a nice pair of sunglasses. The more Cecily looked at the sunglasses, the more she thought that they weren't the nicest sunglasses ever. What was the point anyway if they were just going to be smashed?

Cecily kept her attention on her sunglasses for a while. She wasn't really thinking about anything except what she would say to the poor sunglasses that would get smashed in a few moments.

Cecily chuckled a little when he called sunglasses "shade glasses". Cecily always thought it was funny how purebloods got confused with Muggle objects. As a half-blood, Cecily thought it was always fun to live in a muggle world and wizard world.

Cecily focused her attention back on the Professor. As he explained the spell further, this intrigued her more than having to smash a pair of perfectly good sunglasses.

"Oh, if you get it right, you'll notice a flash of red light, followed by snazzy repaired glasses... and if you do it wrong, well, nothing happens. Basically," was what the Professor finished with.
Cecily, hammer held tight in her hands, repeated under her breath the correct incantation for the Charm.
"Ock-you-liss reh-pah-ROH," Cecily said for the fifth time.

Hands shaking a little, Cecily made a move to break her glasses. She was really looking forward to saying the incantation and doing the Charm, but not smashing the glasses. A couple times Cecily made a move to smash them, but then stopped herself. She couldn't do it. She wasn't that kind of person.
Do it Cecily. Just do it! Do it. DO IT! A voice inside her head screamed, as she, eyes squeezed shut, held up her hammer a couple inches away from her unsmashed glasses.

Cecily shook her head. Why was it so hard for her? All she had to do was smash simple, ordinary, sunglasses. No, smash wasn't the right word. Break. She only had to break sunglasses, and then she would repair them soon after. Cecily opened her eyes and looked around the room. At first, she looked at the Professor for help but then noticed pretty much everyone in the room had already broken their sunglasses and were already trying to repair them. This was what got Cecily going. If she had trouble with the Charm and hadn't broken the glasses yet, people may be staring at her for a while.

She squeezed her eyes shut again as she made a move to break the sunglasses. She would do it this time, she was definitely sure of it. This was it. This was the time she would do it.

Crack.

It was done. Cecily still had her eyes shut but quickly reopened them. She had done it!

That took way too long, Cecily, Cecily scolded herself as she put the hammer down. Now it was the time Cecily was waiting for. Actually doing the Charm.

"Ock-you-liss-reh-pah-ROH," Cecily said again. She had it. There was no way she could mess up now.

Closing her eyes, Cecily focused all her thoughts on the charm.

"Acuklus Reeparo!" Cecily said, tapping the sunglasses with her wand.

Nothing happened.
"I definitely did not do something right. Let's see, Ock-you-liss-reh-pah-roh. I definitely did the incantation wrong. It's OCK, not ACK. And it's Reh, not ree."

Pronouncing the "Reh" in Reparo was the thing Cecily found most difficult. Whenever she practiced the Mending Charm she always had a tendency to say "Ree, as in renew" instead of "Reh".

Shaking her head, Cecily tried again. "Oculus Reparo."

She didn't make any wand movement. She had totally forgotten about that. She was too focused on the incantation. Cecily looked up. Most of the people had successfully repaired their sunglasses.
Feeling pressured to finish faster, Cecily focused again.
"Oculus Reparo!" She said with confidence. She tapped her wand on the sunglasses this time. She would not do the same mistake twice in a row.

It had worked! There was a flash of red light and the next thing she knew she had a freshly new pair of sunglasses. Cecily smiled. She had done it. It had taken a little longer than she would have wanted, but she had done it.

She waited for everyone else to successfully repair their sunglasses, and went up to the Professor.

"These are very perfectly fine sunglasses, Professor. I almost wasn't able to complete the task of smashing them. Do you think this is normal? Everyone else in the classroom broke it with no difficulty, but it took me a while. I do hope it wasn't too painful for these poor glasses. Oh, I also wanted to let you know, sir, that they are called sunglasses," Cecily said as she returned them. She smiled as widely and politely as she could. She never wanted to be disrespectful to Professors. The last thing she wanted to do was end up in detention.

Daniel watched the professor with, well, mild disinterest. He didn't really care about what the Professor was acting like, or if he was just zany in the first place. He did care, though, about the lessons being taught. The pair of glasses that he had retrieved were, frankly put, outlandish. They were neon red, with little sequins embedded in the frame. The lenses themselves weren't quite dark like the ones the Professor wore, but they were darker than, say, normal glasses. He tapped his fingers as he paid attention. All he had to do was fix them.

He studied the glasses. They were broken in many places along the frame after he had finished "smashing" them. The left side that hooked over the ear was extremely lose, the right lens was cracked in several places, and the bridge of the nose was literally hanging together with the thinnest piece of material ever. He figured it was either well worn, or purposely put like that, just so that people could practice their charm. He tapped his fingers idly against the desk beneath the glasses as he rolled the words around on his tongue.

"Occulus Reparo."

It felt weird to say; a foreign language he didn't quite understand the concept of. He knew the end part - Reparo, based as a mending charm. Occulus... glasses? Seeing? He rubbed his forehead and flipped through his book until he was on the right page. Right, right. Occulus, eye. Weird that it only repaired glasses. He pondered if there were other versions of the Reparo spell. It was something he'd have to look into - maybe he'd go bother Professor Henley. He jotted it down quickly in the corner of his book so he wouldn't forget for later.

Moving back into focusing, he picked up his wand and practiced the movement two times before he relaxed his shoulders. Focus. Enunciation. Deep breath. He let the tip of his wand tap on the bridge of the glasses before he clearly stated, "Occulus Reparo." Amazingly, and more out of amusement than anything, he watched the bridge seem to materialize plastic to stitch itself back together, and as he tapped it again, revisiting the verbal spell, the lens seemed to repair itself, too. One more time and the loose side was back in a firm place, and the glasses didn't look really all that bad.

"Professor, do you mind if I keep these?" Daniel quipped as he placed his wand down and studied the new glasses. Now, if only he could change them to bright green...

Wow... muggles were pretty clever - inventing glasses to stop the sun annoying you?? Hestia made a mental note to purchase some next time she was in London. Hopefully they'd have some, Hestia figured that the muggles made quite a few of these glasses as they all looked the same.

Turning to the pair in front of her, Hestia picked up the hammer on the desk and smashed the glasses on the bridge, wincing slightly as the plastic splintered. Grimacing as she looked at the newly destroyed glasses, she rolled up her sleeves and reached for her wand, which was stowed in the pocket of her cloak.

With a deep breath in, Hestia began to speak. "Oculus rep... reparo," she said, instantly realising she shouldn't have stopped half way through saying the spell. The charms professor had always said that saying the spell correctly was incredibly important, and Hestia had messed up. The two parts of the glasses fidgeted slightly close to each other, but gave up after a few seconds.

Furrowing her brows, Hestia tried again. "Oculus reparo!" she stated confidently, watching the glasses expectantly. The two halves moved together quickly, and Hestia grinned to herself, picking the pair up and inspecting them closely.

"Sir," she raised her hand. "What muggle shops sell these?"

The blonde didn't like the idea of smashing anything. Sure, she was still a kid but she didn't have that wildness to her that most kids had. The closest she had come to playing in the mud was a sandbox. She didn't like to get messy and certainly didn't like to smash things to bits. Not without a good purpose for doing so. Now what was this about shade glasses?

Dymphna leaned forward in her seat, focusing intently. She wasn't completely clueless about the Muggle world as some Pureblood families were. Her father worked in the heart of London, in a magical museum but he still interacted with muggles whenever he took his lunch break. One thing she was certain of was that shade glasses was wrong but she couldn't for the life of her remember what it was actually called. Oh well.

Despite the Muggle knowledge that she had acquired over the years, she didn't know what was going to happen next. It was uneventful, not being smashed to pieces like she had thought. Doing as she was told, she took the heavy hammer and shades, waiting for further instruction. Ah, everything was starting to make sense now! An Eyeglass Repair Charm would come in quite handy indeed.

The hammer was let go from above the glasses, smashing the lenses out of the frames. It didn't look the same as the Professors but it was all for the sake of learning. Hopefully she wouldn't have to use a hammer again. "Oculus Reparo," she repeated alongside the rest of the class, then for real with a light tap of her wand. "Oculus Reparo," the glasses started piecing back together and soon, it was as though she hadn't dropped a hammer on them at all.

Triumph!
