The Gryffindor Table 2022-2023
I happily filled my plate with any food within reaching distance, excitedly looking around at my happily chatting house.
My eye caught on another first year sitting opposite me, nervously poking food around his plate and fiddling distractedly with his wand under his robes. The wand appeared momentarily and I had an a good enough glimpse to see it was made from walnut . . . just like mine! My curiosity and sympathy for the boy grew as well as a vague hope of friendship. My heart ached to see him like this and I automatically wanted to talk to him, help erase the fear from his face. This desire erased my own doubt from the sorting, about whether I had been placed in the right house, and I continued to watch him curiously. But DAMN if helping someone erased my own fears, why was I in Gryffindor? I rolled my eyes and shoved the doubts deeper into my mind. I couldn’t do anything to change the situation and someone needed my help . . . So clearly the only course of action was to make friends with the other kid.
He suddenly grinned to himself and began eating more enthusiastically. It made me smile to see him happier.
I leaned across the table and held out my hand, giving a broad grin and saying, “Heya! Irina Shevel, nice to meet you. What’s your name?”

I don't have a train of thought. I have 7 trains on 4 tracks, all narrowly avoiding each other when the paths cross, all the passengers are screaming and there's that annoyingly calm female conductors voice in the background.

The Gryffindor Table 2022-2023
After being sorted Astra was still in shock, she got the Gryffindor table hearing claps and lots of people talking at the same time, not succeeding in making sense of all those sentences.
She took a while to process it and when she finally did she was able to enjoy herself, taking some food to eat and looking at people around her.
She took her breath, and spoke out loud.
-This got to be a mistake ! I am not meant to be here I am meant to be in Ravenclaw, the girl complained.
-Can't I redo the test or change house or something ? She asked.
Astra knew the answer and it did not please her, it did not please her at all. She ended up sighing
- Arg nevermind !
So out of the blue, out of frustration Astra Ingebrigtsen stood up, and gave a middle finger to the sorting hat. After that she sat down, and calmed herself. It was not going her way and she really hated that, but as it was she could not do anything.
-Anyway nice to meet you all guys, seems like I'm one of yours, so let's get along ! She said to the group as a whole.

The Gryffindor Table 2022-2023
[315 words]Oh lord. The loud shout of the hat on top of him made him stand up almost imminently. He truly didn't expect the Sorting Hat to be as loud as it was. But, the new Gryffindor turned on his heels to give a small bow to the hat and the teachers to then sit down. Jay was a muggle-born, but he had heard on the ride to the large school about the main traits you have to have to get into each house. All he was hoping was to not be put into Ravenclaw. The house seemed like they were full of academic prodigies, and the young boy certainly wasn't that.
He watched as the table filled up with first-years, being quite early in the alphabet for sorting. While doing this, the noise started to get to him. Every time a student got sorted, the whole school would scream in the celebration. "Ay dios mio; can't they tone it down like two notches?" Jay mumbled, using his hands to cover his ears. Even if he was used to loud cheering from sport games, it doesn't mean he liked it. And usually, the cheering wasn't right next to him at full volume. The only expectation of this would be his music, which doesn't work here.
Finally, the food came. It was all you can dream of and more. The noise level turned down to a school cafeteria level, and so Jay was able to start eating with his peers. Others looked to be trying to have conversations, some already pretty deep into theirs. The person that intriged him the most was the temperamental Ingebrigtsen, who decided to flip off the Sorting Hat at the beginning of the feast. He leaned over and tapped her on the shoulder, giving a huge grin. "Ello there! You're Astra Ingebrigtsen, correct? I'm Jay. Jay Divus. It's nice to meet you."

Astra was a bit suprised by the tap on her shoulder, it seemed like her behavior had attracted a brown haired wizard, who greeted her.
-Yup right, Nice to meet you too Jay, she said while blushing a bit.
What she previously did wasn't something she was used to do so it still felt a bit embarrassing to her, specially since she immediately believed the boy was talking to her because of her previous tantrum.
-This place is dope isn't it ? I mean we only saw a little bit of it and it's already incredible. She said to try to immediately direct the conversation to anything but that middle finger she did.
Ingebrigtsen took a drink, and looked more in details at her conversation partner.
He looked like the kind of guy it was fun to be with, maybe with a little bit of a trouble maker in him. At least that was her first impression of him judging solely on his look and face.
Thinking of it, he did talk to me because I did a middle finger so that would make sense,
she thought.
So Astra wanted to try and see if her first impression was correct, she tried testing the boy.
-By the way wanna make revenge on the sorting hat ? She asked trying to tone it as if she was just trying being funny.

[240 words]He gave a nod to the comment about Hogwarts being pretty grand. It was an actual castle! Coming from a pretty modest family, he was in a public school most of his life, and it wasn't that big. He was sure what it was even bigger then it looked, which could make going to classes a bit harder than just walking ten feet to the classroom across the hallway. "Yeah, I'd say so! This room alone is ginormous! I mean, look at all this space. You can just have a whole basketball game in here if you take out the tables."
Take revenge on the Sorting Hat? Why would anyone want to do that? On second thought, a lot of people would want to do that. Say they got in a house they didn't want, like Astra over here, then they would be pretty spiteful. But flipping off the entire school staff? That takes guts, so it's no wonder why she was sorted into Gryffindor. "It's a hat at the front of the room. How do you suggest we take revenge? Walk up to the Headmaster and stomp on the hat? In front of the whole school?" He laughed at the idea, making it painfully obvious that he too was somewhat messing around. But even thinking about it gave anyone some sense of him being serious. Taking a bite of the ribs he has, he again turns to the girl.

The Gryffindor Table 2022-2023
He made his way towards the Gryffindor table and looked at the kids that were all there waiting for him they all had smiles on there faces and greeting me with happy faces. They all greeted him with "Welcome to Gryffindor house". He sat down and all the older boys were there asking him questions all about how he felt about being here and being in Gryffindor house. Raven thought about it long and hard his answer was "He finally felt better to be in a place that is warm and welcoming as this place is to him and that let's him be himself" they all lifted the glasses up and made a toast to the newcomers in Gryffindor. He heard the new roars for someone else being sorted into Gryffindor after him and they greeted them one by one after and it was all over they celebrated us all. Raven felt pretty good after the ceremony was over and he could just relax about being sorted into the most wonderful house. Raven started sorting out his plate and everyone started eating and thought to himself "This is going to be the best years yet and hopefully he will meet new friends".

Rhys took a moment to steel themself before they walked over to the Gryffindor table, pointedly ignoring both of their brothers, Rhain and Rhun, as they walked past them to an empty spot at the table and sat down.ReducioDialogue|| open to interactions, despite Rhys's apparent dislike of people, lol
Gryffindor? Of all the houses they could've been sorted into, Gryffindor? The one everyone associated the famous Harry Potter with, the one that was probably the wish of magical children all over who didn't already have a preference for any of the other three houses due to family or personal wishes.
Rhys's father had been a Gryffindor when he was at Hogwarts, and both of their brothers were Gryffindor, so they guessed it was just in their genes if they had Gryffindor traits, but they would have much preferred to get Slytherin or Ravenclaw, just to spite their family and cause a commotion to be the first of either house in their family. It would have been quite amusing to write home, all I got sorted into (any house other than Gryffindor)!
But, no. They got Gryffindor, and now they had to accept it. Because the sorting hat always knew better, despite all the personal preference taken into account crap they'd heard. They'd been sorted into Gryffindor, and so they had to deal with it now.
But before they accepted it, they could at least sulk.
Still ignoring their brothers, Rhys silently picked up their fork and dug into a pile of mashed potatoes and gravy, making a point not to look around at anyone else at the table, so as not to encourage interaction.

Astra's test was not exactly a success, nor was it a failure, she managed to grasp a little bit who she was dealing with. The way the boy replied deeply annoyed Astra, she took his absurd suggestion as a mockery of what she told him previously. He did not make a good first impression, the disable girl already did not like him.
-Why not ? You do it, just go throw some food on him or something and I will make a decoy. She said sounding as serious as she could.
She knew he would not do it, she just took the occasion to try and get him in trouble the first day at hogwarts.
Ingebrigtsen took a bite from a sandwitch that was nearby, and observed Jay.
- I am not a ravenclaw okay doesn't mean I am an idiot you goblin ! She retort internally.
-Lot's of people hate the sorting hat, I'm sure that if you do it they will like you, aren't we gryffindor after all ? Come on ! She added.
Maybe Astra was just still being angry at the sorting hat's decision and found any ways to flush out her frustration to someone unconsciously. She did not exactly hate him yet, she just really disliked the way he said what he said.

[269 words]“The students may like me, sure. I have major doubt to that, but sure. The teachers however would hate me. And then they would tell my parents and my parents would yell at me. It’ll be this whole thing.” He didn’t necessarily like how it sounded like she was taunting him, and so he started to eat again. Hogwarts was already quite the difference from his muggle school back in England. Damn, was he just solving his problems with food? It looked pathetic in his eyes. But still the matter of the being is that it’s fest. They eat at a fest.
He narrowed his eyes at the girl. Yeah, not the type of kid he wanted to hang around with during school. Sadly, they were in the same house. Jays head tilted down, casting a shadow over his eyes. What was she trying to do? Start a food fight? If not, that was the perfect way to start it. He would know, he started a few that way. “We may be in Gryffindor, Ingebrigtsen, but that doesn’t mean we are stupid. Blind bravery is just a person being an idiot. No point to start a food fight, lass.”
There ya go, he said it. Jay hated her guts for trying to gaslight him, and hated her attitude. She’ll see what happens when you mess with a Divus. There is of course, a small judgment period for Jay, and it was almost over. Keep going like this and she wouldn’t find herself in a nice situation. “Lo juro, es como si quisieras ser expulsado en tu primera noche aquí.”

That boy dared to give her this kind of speech, Ingebrigtsen did not have enemies, she did not want any either but it did not mean that some people did not piss her off. And that boy did, so she decided to take her leave at least from her current seat on the table. But she would not do it without first annoying the boy, for the pleasure of it. So while eating her food she plan something out. Once she was done she was ready to take action.
Astra stood up and accidentally or so it seem fell because of her disability, she grabbed the food and drinks in front of her and splashed it all over Jay.
-Oh I'm so sorry Jay ! That was an accident ! If I knew this would happen to you I would not have tried to grab something to stop my fall ! Astra said apologizing.
Astra stood up properly and added:
-I'm going to the toilet, I am really really sorry Jay, it was an accident
While turning back to leave she smirked heading toward the direction of the toilet.
Take that ! Hope you like it lol She thought to herself.
