Her back pulsed painfully from the recent blow, she could have sworn she slammed her head on the muddy ground. Continuing to dust her self off with her left hand, holding her wand in her right, she stared Josephine right into the eye.
"What, tired of lying to me? Trying to change the subject to earn some mercy?"
Mercy from what exactly? Emma thought to herself, but still, pretending as if she hadn't heard her question she continued on with her question. She pushed a strand of brown hair from out of her face and dropped her hand back down to her side.

"Ever heard of the spell," she paused drawing her white colored wand. "Rictusempra?" She gestured her hand in a form of a leaf, blocking out all her emotions, well, except for the fact that she wanted Josephine to die from laughter, whether optimistically or pessimistically.  A bright grey light sputtered from her wand, though unsure of the effects of her own spell. Was she going to be tickled in all places, or perhaps just one?

The Ravenclaw lowered her wand and dropped it back into her pocket, feeling extremely fulfilled with herself. It was not as simple as a mere push or assaulting with hammering words that may or may not have been true. Actions speak louder than words.

"Rictusempra?" Jo instantly came to hate that word. More than she hated most thing. That spell should have been unforgivable. It was to her at least. As soon as the spell hit she could have sworn time slowed down. A loud laugh erupted from her as she collapsed to the ground. It was too much. Too powerful. She tried everything she could to get it to stop. Even rolling around in the dirt. Maybe that would somehow shake it off.

"Merlin" she pleaded between laughes, "Make it stop! Mercy" she swore a few times too. She would have rather wrestled a dementor, snogged an inferius, danced with an acromantula, anything other than this. Her only thoughts were making it end, and making her attacker pay. No more where her calculated, curious thoughts. No plan. No logic. Just raw anger and vengeance.

But the spell did eventually wear off. She wasn't sure how long, she could have sworn it was years. But she found herself in a rather new position. Where she had flailed and rolled, she now had the older girl with her back to the lake. At that moment, she acted. A primal screech erupted from Jo and she lunged forward. Fully committed to tackling her foe straight into the water. She didn't even bother trying to stop herself from going down with Emma in the process

Emma smirked as she watched the Ravenclaw hit the ground in giggles and laughs. It had been a while since she had wanted to use spells on her enemies, but she had been begging for her vengeance. She kept her wand her even after the pleads and curses of the girl. She wouldn't have dared used such language in public, nor by herself.

She held back her diminutive amount of guilt back, wondering how long her spell would last. Nothing ran through her head, just her retaliation. She had shocked herself when the wand issued the silver jet of light, it was almost as if she hadn't said the spell herself.

The brunette had been pushed before, but not into the water. When she had planned to take a swim in the water, she generally wore a swimming suit. Why had she turned her back to the water? She had obviously not been thinking properly. She was taken aback by the yell of the younger girl and found herself being directly charged for.

"Whoa!" She cried seeing nothing back the sky. Her wand was gripped tightly in her hand, thank Merlin the wand had been waterproof. Weren't all wands waterproof? She closed her eyes tightly as her back hit the water with a rather severe crash. Getting a mouthful of indefinite water, she found herself coughing, sitting up only to be tackled again. "Are you mad?" She coughed up, after spitting up the murky water. What a splendid way to end the year.

Splash! It was a very satisfying sound. She watched with no small amount of glee as Emma tumbled into the water. It almost made up for the tickling. Almost. She could have stood there forever watching Emma in the water. Sure it wasn't a very elegant way, or even flashy. But it go the job done very well. Maybe water was her calling. It did seem a rather easy way to punish lying and disrespect. "Feeling a little washed up are we?" she cackled, clearly entertained at her own joke, "Is it time to hit the showers, love? Feeling a little drowned under the pressure?"

She stood proudly at the water's edge. But her arrogance caused her to let her guard down. With a sudden squeal she found herself slipping and falling into the water herself. Right on top of Emma. With a loud splash of herself she landed on the older girl and rolled off of her. Jo spent a moment sputtering and spitting out water before trying to keep her now soaked hair out of her face.

"Are you mad?" Jo looked over at the older girl fuming. But after a second her face broke and she started cackling, mostly at the absurdity of the situation. "You look like a bloody mess! That's what you get for using that bloody curse on me,"

Emma exhaled through her nose loudly, it could have easily been mistaken for a bull's grunt. She wasn't about to be outsmarted by a female younger than her, more or less from her on house. She didn't care about using her wand now.

Her parents would have never let her fight her siblings, well if she had one. The closest thing to a brother or sister she had was her cousins, but they hadn't attended Hogwarts. Sometimes, she wished she had an older brother, one that could be there for her whenever she needed him. Well, not to protect herself, she was doing quite fine with that already. "Cut the crap, I'm showing you mercy right now," she growled at her.

Ignoring her comments, she pushed herself up from the murky waters and stared the younger girl directly into the eye. She blocked out so many capable things she could do with her wand. Cutting her robes, an irritating runny nose, lighting her robes on fire.

"I'll show you a curse," she said lunging for Josephine and tackling her by the shoulders and wrestling her on the ground. She didn't care about her waterlogged robes, nor her grass-stained pants. She hadn't even minded the dripping hair down her back and face.

Something about the whole ordeal was exhilarating to Jo. She couldn't explain it, but deep inside she felt a strong sense of enjoyment out of her situation. She wasn't sure if it was the thrill of overcoming a rival, the rush of breaking rules, or something else entirely. All she knew was that wasn't the worst thing ever. Years later, in retrospect, she would even argue it was a little fun.

She stood slowly and tried in vain to control her hair. That was the thing she was upset about the most. She was rather proud of her hair. Now it was covered in water and who knows what. It was even worse than the sorting hat. She was going to spend all night washing her hair and nails. There really needed to be a spell for that.

"I'll show you a curse," Was all she heard before she felt herself being grabbed. She liked to think she fought valiantly. That it was a struggle for the ages. That the two of them stood there for ages, using all of their might and dexterity to gain control. That she put up a good fight and barely came out on the wrong end.

But what really happened was she let out a little squeak as she was grabbed, and a loud grunt as her back hit the ground. She struggled for a second to try and reverse the situation, but found herself lacking the strength to do so.  "Lemme go!" she grunted as she continued wiggling. She felt very much at the other girl's mercy, but Jo was determined to not make whatever she had planned an easy fight...even if all she could do right now was wiggle and whine.

Emma couldn't explain the rush of power she had just experienced. Tackling her antagonist felt rejuvenating. The grass crunching underneath her, the wind running softly through her hair. If only it weren't wet now. She generally didn't care about breaking the rules, nor standing up to those that seemed threatening, Josephine definitely fit the criteria.

Just for fun, she shook her wet hair absentmindedly. Though her veins pumped with rage, she figured a little fun wouldn't have hurt her, well, it wouldn't have hurt her. A painful pulse flowed through her body, through her head, giving her a terrible headache. Hair stuck to her face, but she didn't care, it was the least of her problems.

That was a bad idea, the pulse sped its pace, she couldn't take much more. It was hard to tell if it was her heart or her head. There was one thing she had to admit, she was much faster, faster than she had anticipated, for a first year at the least.
"Lemme go!"
"Begging for mercy now, are you? You'll always be daddy's little child," the brunette hissed at Josephine, trying to pin her arms into the ground. Still, she knew that wouldn't stop her feet from wiggling around.

For once, getting distracted, she snuck a glance at her wand. Thoughts popped in and out of her head, but she couldn't go and grab her wand. She wasn't quick enough, the younger girl would surely have the upper hand. Well, as long as she didn't come near her feet.

Jo was starting to get desperate. She was getting tired with all of her wiggling and flailing. This type of muggle fighting wasn't exactly something father had every talked about. It was dirty too. All the water clinging to her was just making the grass and dirt stick even easier. She would have to remember to send this girl the bill for her new robes. Maybe a nice howler to go with it. She was very sure she would be getting one from her father anyway. He would not be happy with her over this.

But just as Jo was starting to wear down, Emma said something to her that reignited her inner fire.  "You'll always be daddy's little child," Every fiber in her being was suddenly overcome with defiance and rage. It then occurred to her that her legs where much more free than her arms. With renewed vigor she started using her legs in every way should could, including using her knees as weapons.

"You don't know my family, you don't know my father," she growled as she stared trying to slam her knees into the girl on top of her.  She was going to at least go down with a fight, even if she was at a disadvantage. "You especially don't know me!"

The grip on her arms had been started to wear off, but thankfully, judging from her appearance, she couldn't go on much longer anyway. The fight had been enjoyable and most pleasant in her favors, but even the greatest boxers needed to take a break. Surely, after the first blow to the head, they called timeout, but she had been relying on her mere instincts. What if she should have been sorted into the house of bravery?

"Don't come crying back when your papa sends you an owl. With the truth. I know more about your family than you would. My grandparents played Quidditch for Merlin's sake!" Emma said pushing her arms massively one last time deeper into the ground. She stood up, though once more had been interrupted by rear end and she was sent hurling forward.

Another blow to the head, but she continued to persist. Still struggling to keep her balance, she walked over to her wand. It was still slippery from the murky waters of the Black Lake, but still, she could hold it, though she was unsure if it'd be called 'acceptable'.

Emma relished the feeling the water gave her hair. It was no longer wavy and light, more heavy and straight, but she didn't like the feeling robe wet robes. She'd be needing a nice, long shower after the frivolous fight.

"And don't think about touching me," she said pointing her wand directly at her.
