Playing at the piano for @Adelaide Barlowe

"Yea, sometimes I'll share with you one or two I've written. I mean, they're not the best things ever but, you know, not terrible. I work on perfecting them nearly every day," he said as he turned forward to face the piano so he could play her something.

It was one of his pieces and not his best, but it had been on his mind for awhile and probably his most current work in progress. Simon had that melody through his head so often that he didn't even need his notebook with the staff and notes in front of him.

"Dueling is wicked," he said with a laugh, but also thought if someone liked casting spells and was good at it that it would be a fun sport. Apparently dhampirs weren't the best at charms and incantations, so he had read up in his books. "I've gone and watched my girlfriend a couple of times in the matches." They could get pretty vicious. Simon would definitely stick with broom racing.

"Uh, there's a few clubs out there... I'm part of the Frog Choir and the Theatre Club and I know there's a book club that meets sometime. Not sure who leads that up though." That seemed right up a knowledge seeking Ravenclaw's alley. "Archery sounds fun. Shame it's not held in the Room of Requirement and is outdoors though."

"Well you know what they say, practice makes perfect! I'm sure they're really good though," she gave him an encouraging smile as he got ready to play a piece on the piano. Adelaide devoted her full attention to him as he played the piece, and in all honesty, it was absolutely beautiful. Mesmerizing, ethereal, gorgeous. The blonde stood in awe as she listened, Simon clearly was extremely talented at the piano.

"Woah," was all she could utter after he finished, "I mean, that was wonderful! I thought you said they weren't the best? Well, I certainly think that was a pretty good piece. It was beautiful, honestly, I was mesmerized!" The Ravenclaw could definitely see how the two of them would make a good pair. Simon could play one of his beautiful pieces on the piano and Adelaide could dance an equally beautiful routine to match.

"I agree! Though I haven't actually been to one of the matches, I should probably do that, but I definitely do want to become a Duellist. It would be fun and also a great way to practice my spell casting outside of the classroom," she said. What Simon said next caught Adelaide's attention a great amount. Girlfriend? Interesting. "You have a girlfriend?" she asked before she could think twice, and then immediately regretted it, "sorry, I'm just curious. Or more like nosey, honestly, but that's cool," sometimes Adelaide really hated when her mouth seemed to move on it's own and produce words that she really did not want to say. Now Simon's probably going to think she fancies him or something stupid even though she really, truly doesn't. Ew.

"Anyway," she said, in an attempt to quickly change the topic, "you said you were on the Broom Racing team, is it fun? I haven't been to any Quidditch matches or Broom Racing matches, I'm not really a fan of either sport if I'm being honest. Too high and too dangerous for me, though I guess Duelling is also pretty dangerous," she shrugged.

She mentally took note of the clubs Simon had mentioned, "Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely look more into the book club, it sounds fun, and yes, Archery does sound fun, but we haven't had a meeting yet, though I'm looking forward to it!" Adelaide should probably make it a challenge for herself to join more clubs that interest her and, in her mother's words, 'get out there more'. Later today, she'll definitely remember to look more into the book club Simon had mentioned.

Talks with @Adelaide Barlowe
"Thanks, I've been working on that piece for awhile now so it's been stuck in my head. It's almost there, there's just a few places here and there that need perfected," and it was those places that drove him completely mental! Someday though he would get it where he wanted to be - he was certain, and then, then it would be perfect! Sometimes he would sit down for hours at a time and just work on it and other times inspiration would hit in the middle of a lesson or another activity and he'd jot down a couple notes in a notebook before he forgot his idea.

"Maybe we can set up joint times in here to practice. I can play whatever you'd like and then you and then you can dance."
Sounded like a pretty good partnership to him. "Do you dance for you?" Simon asked, being a little blunt. "I've got a friend back home and she dances, does ballet - but her passion waivers. Sometimes she's dancing for herself and because she loves it and sometimes it's more of an expectation of her mother's."

Simon probably shouldn't have asked that, not when the two barely knew each other. It was kind of generalizing and he quickly felt bad for having done so.

Adelaide completely understood where Simon was coming from. Having to practice something over and over again to perfect it, because there was always that one little thing that could be improved, that one little thing that you could make better. "Oh yeah, I get that. It's already amazing right now, but I completely get needing to practice and refine something over and over again to perfect it." At least she didn't seem to be the only one who had that same mentality, because her sister certainly thought she was the only one who needed everything she done to be perfect. Even though Eloise didn't feel the same and settled for average grades doesn't mean it makes Adelaide weird for needing to be perfect. She really should rub that in her sister's face sometime in the future.

Her face brightened at the idea of a joint practice time for the two, "Yeah, I like that idea! It'd definitely be a great opportunity for both of us to practice and would mean I don't have to replay the same music on the gramophone over and over again or else practice in silence." She blinked in surprise at Simon's next question, being taken aback slightly. "What?" She asked in surprise before recollecting herself. The story of Simon's friend creepily sounded a lot like Adelaide, and it unnerved her. Of course, Adelaide loved ballet. She was very passionate about it, and it was definitely something she loved doing, but that didn't dismiss the fact that the only reason she started ballet was because of her mother. Her mother done ballet during her teenage years and so had enrolled both of her daughters into ballet lessons. Eloise had ended up quitting because she didn't enjoy it, but Adelaide stuck with it because she did enjoy it. But she couldn't shake the feeling that sometimes she was doing it just to make her mother proud, even though she knew her mother wouldn't mind if Adelaide wanted to quit.

"Oh, uh, yeah, I do dance for myself. I love it, and I'm very passionate about it. I do it because I enjoy it." She settled on saying, not wanting to overshare with Simon and tell him her confusing feelings that yes, she did dance for herself but also wanted to make her mother proud even though she knew deep down her mother would still be proud of her even if she stopped doing ballet. Her mind was a confusing mess sometimes, and she didn't feel comfortable sharing that with someone she barely even knew, even if Simon did seem like a nice guy.

Offering to be @Adelaide Barlowe's music lackey

"Good. It's good to have things you enjoy around here but when they align with music it can be rather difficult. It's not like we can flip on the radio and guarantee they'll be playing the Top Number One Hits within minutes or slap on what we want to hear on our Apple Music." Hogwarts, and I suppose the wizarding world in general, makes music a bit more difficult to come by." He was probably not making some sense to Adelaide depending on how pureblood her lifestyle was, but it didn't occur to him that he might be. He was making sense in his mind.

"Or you know, not even just playing for you, which - totally don't mind - but maybe we can have sessions that if you're wanting to work on your craft, I could come and do the gramophone for you so you don't have to stop each time. I wouldn't mind helping out a friend." Yes, he tossed that word out there. Everyone could use some more friends.

If she took him up on that offer, maybe in those sessions they would start talking more and form a bond. Maybe she would just want the solitude to help her focus on her dancing. Either way was fine. He wanted to help her first and foremost so if she just needed him as a mechanism to keep the music going, he'd be there.

Top Number One Hits? Apple Music? Apple Music? Clearly, Simon had to be a Muggle-born or a Half-blood, and everything he was saying wasn't making any sense to Adelaide. It did intrigue her, though, and she wasn't sure whether Apple Music had something to do with those phones she had learnt about a couple months ago, or whether Muggles had apples that actually played music. Logically, it probably wouldn't be the latter, since that didn't even make any sense. "So, I'm going to guess that everything you just said was something Muggle related because it made absolutely zero sense to me," she laughed, "what is Apple Music? And Top Number One Hits? Are they Muggle radio stations like the Wizarding Wireless Network? Because I doubt apples actually play music."

Adelaide was excited about Simon's offer to help each other with their craft. Despite preferring to be independent, she's definitely open to the idea of Simon playing the piano for her or working the gramophone for her when she's practicing. He is right in the sense that it would be more useful for her if she had someone to work the gramophone during her practice sessions, and therefore it would be more productive and give her more time to perfect her dance. Overall, it doesn't seem that bad of an idea, and gaining a friend would be an added benefit of it. Friends were always nice.

"Yeah," she nodded after thinking about it for a couple of minutes, "that definitely seems like a good idea! It'd be more useful if I had someone there to play with me or do the gramophone, and I'd have more time to perfect my craft. Plus, gaining a friend also wouldn't be bad." She smiled. Even if they only met up to work together, it definitely didn't seem like a bad idea, and she was down for having someone help her while she practiced. It would be beneficial for both of them, and Adelaide would always be onboard if something benefitted her.
