Though they were not to remain on the piste victorious, the only act of dignity she had left was being able to leave on her own terms. Weary she was, Astrea knew first-hand the brutality of duelling. There was a different system now than at her peak, but the round limit could not remove the unyielding endurance of duels past. If not liberty from opponent shackles, then a resistant death.

The last round of the duel was certainly an interesting one. Two of the duellists would help out their teammates and heal them. Ileen's healing spell looked really powerful like it was cast perfectly. Alan's wand was aimed at his partner, giving Nicky a boost. While her partner healed her, Nicky tried to set Astrea on fire but missed the older student.

In the end, Alan's healing wasn't enough for the powerful flipendo that Astrea cast toward the young Gryffindor. The popular spell stuck Nicky right between her ribs and was clearly stronger than most spells, as it blasted the young girl off her feet. With a loud bang, Nicky hit the ground.

"Everybody stop!" Samantha yelled to the duellists. "The time limit has been reached," she informed them, as she tried to get a better look at Nicky. It didn't seem like the girl was moving, so the dueling captain concluded that she must be unconscious. After ordering the house elves to take Nicky to the hospital wing, Samantha took a good look at the duelists.

Both Slytherins seemed exhausted, a little flame still burning in Ileen's sleeve. If Astrea hadn't been healed a few seconds ago, a little push would have probably knocked her out. On the other end of the stage stood Alan, who looked like he could duel for 12 more rounds. He seemed perfectly fine, only being hit once during the whole duel. After thinking for a few seconds, Samantha determined the winner. "Gryffindor wins this duel!" she announced loudly. "Even though both duelists of Slytherin are still standing, Gryffindor is in a much better shape."
