Conan was born in Sheffield two minutes later than his twin brother, Draco, before moving straight away to the family manor. Their father was not present at their birth.
At the manor are his brother Norman, then eight, his paternal grandparents, Harold and Gina Clarck, and the servants who work for the family.

Conan's sister Ruby Clarck is born. Her mother falls very ill after giving birth and her health weakens day by day.
Gina wants to make Ruby a lady, but Harold convinces her to wait a little.

Conan and Draco start taking dance lessons with a specialist master, Laurie. But the twins spend their time playing tricks on her, which wears the teacher out.
Gina forces them to learn manners from another teacher, Erik Jonhson.
Norman enters his second year at Hogwarts and almost gets kicked out for climbing one of the castle towers.

Conan manifested his magic for the first time the previous year, so his father became more interested in him and started coming back to the manor more often. Draco still hasn't manifested his powers, but the two boys remain very close.

Conan gets into more and more trouble with his brothers and sister, and to calm them down, his grandfather teaches them science. Gina doesn't want Ruby to study science and replaces the hour with an embroidery lesson.
Conan is immediately taken with the lessons and follows them with enormous interest, but Draco is not at all interested and prefers to get into mischief around town. So he often disappears during science time.

Conan receives his letter for Hogwarts, but Draco does not. Everyone expected it with despair, Draco is a squib. His father disowns him and forbids Conan to see him. He decides to take Conan's education into his own hands and make him a real wizard. But Conan is sad that he can no longer see his brother. His father also forbids him to go out with Norman. Instead, he has to attend balls, from which he often runs away.
Norman, who is eighteen, also has less and less time to spend with his brother, as his father wants him to marry a rich witch and also sends him to many balls.
At the start of the school year, Conan goes to Hogwarts and Draco is put in a strict boarding school in Oxford.
