Mentioning:@Renée Danvers @Matthew Robertson@James Chapman@Ayuna Baudelaire@Lizzie McGregorHe smirked at Ayuna, finding her tone funny. "Think what you want, Gabriel is a fine name!" He grinned at her, overlapping his hands and resting them on the back of his head. He looked back at Matt and raised an eyebrow but keeping his usual grin. "Make sure to add in your letter that you'll be too busy doing an extra week of a lessons homework to write too much." He snickered confidently. It was all fun and games, but he was excited to take on a challenge from him. He was just about to be called a chicken, but Matt stopped short due to another boy walking up to them.
He welcomed the newcomer, who was another Gryffindor. He could tell Matt, not unlike himself, was a tad disappointed their set was not completed with a Hufflepuff. The conversation turned yet again to Quidditch, they all seemed to have a common interest in the sport. It was quite obvious each person wanted their own house to win but there would be no hostilities or anger if another team were to win. He liked this group that happened to join in. They seemed like perfect friend material. The new boy introduced himself as James, as Matt recognized him as a future asset to the Gryffindor team.
"I'm Gabriel, nice to meet you, James. We're just talking about a variety of things, mainly Quidditch though. Many of us are thinking of signing up for the house teams in the future. All nice fun rivalry." Before they could talk too much more, Gabe was one of the first to spot yet another new person.
It was a Ravenclaw, who was beaming. She seemed to hear their comments on Quidditch. Gabriel had not realized what a popular game it was until he met many people who LOVED it. He gave a whole-hearted smile at her, waving as she made her way over. "It's good to meet you, Lizzie. I'm Gabriel, and I think you are rather wrong abbot Ravenclaw. Me and my new buddies..." He gestured to Matt and James, "We will blow you out of the sky. I am looking forward to the first match of course."
He absolutely loved how big the group was getting, lots of people seeming to want to make friends on their first day. They all were exciting people, but it would take time to get to actually know each one's personalities. He hoped they were as good as they seemed, bad people made for bad friends.

Making Friends and First Steps!
Liam Bennet walked out and into the courtyard, things were going well for him. He was here, in Hogwarts, and ready to start his real wizarding journey within the castle. There must have been a plethora of secrets that he had no idea about, though eventually he would strive to uncover them. However, now was not the time he thought to himself as he continued to stride onwards. On occasion he smiled at another passing student, waving at a couple others whom he knew through some old family connection or another. That was all well and good, but he had no real friends just yet and, in truth, he was starting to miss his younger siblings. It would be a few years until the first of the two arrived, so in the meantime Liam’s task was to get settled and find some like minded students.
He looked up and beamed at what looked to be a group forming in healthy numbers with a relatively good mixture of students from different houses. As he approached with a confident stride he noticed one individual who looked extremely similar to him unhook his arm from another boy and leave. Liam took the opportunity to slot into the conversation, wrapping his arm similarly around Matthew - ironically that name was shared with his brother. In the moment that Liam joined the conversation he was able to hear at least part of the recap that was being given by another Gryffindor who introduced himself as Gabriel.
“Well,” Liam spoke up, “I’ll take that guy’s place and join you lads as Gryffindor’s new talent. Me, I’m either a beater or a chaser depending on the day. I’d say the three of us can take on almost anyone.” The blonde boy spoke with a confident grin on his face. "I’m yet to see anyone who can really take on Gryffindor and come out victorious in a serious game.”
He paused, running his free hand through his golden-blonde hair to clear a path for his brown eyes to look out onto the group. Thankfully he was able to catch the tail end of one of the Ravenclaw girls introducing herself so he decided to jump onto the end of Gabriel’s welcome. “Yeah it’s good to meet you Lizzie. I’m Liam.” He gave a smile before patting both Matthew and Gabriel on the back. “These here are my new pals and we are a damn good half of a quidditch team! Don’t think there is another group more ready for the start of the new season.” The boy nodded to the rest of the group, inviting them with his smile to join in with the banter.
“I’m guessing you are all ready for classes to start too? Got to say I’m looking forward to charms, and who hasn’t heard the stories about defence against the dark arts - that’ll be fun.”

Just to clarify, I needed to retire James for the sake of the plot making sense chronologically so James has left the scene and this is the replacement character who is almost exactly the same.

interacting with: @Liam Bennet @Lizzie McGregor @James ChapmanShe smirked at James and raised an eyebrow, "Hiya James!" she said, her eyes glinting with challenge, "Although you're definitely wrong in thinking you could win Ravenclaws. We have the strongest team and will probably beat the Lions in seconds." Her eyes met James and she grinned, "I hope you can do that when you're really playing Quidditch. It's no use talking about strategies when you can't use them in real battle you know." the girl said a bit sarcastically, but in a good way.
Just then, another Ravenclaw joined the group. ”Finally, the girl said with a wide smile, "Another Ravenclaw! Hi Lizzie! I'm Ayuna Baudelaire,
a fellow Ravenclaw." she grinned excitedly, "And you're definitely right about the Ravenclaws winning! The eagles rules the sky!"
Calling Ayuna an outdoors type of person is an understatement. The girl loves breathing the fresh air and playing sports. She was a baseball expert in her hometown and excelled in most sports. That was probably the main reason why she wanted to be a seeker for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. To win games of course! And hear the cheers and shouts of fellow students.
And now, another Gryffindor joined the group. It was getting crowded! Hi Liam, she said smiling, I'm Ayuna and I'm sure the Ravenclaw team is much more ready than the Lions!" she smirked, "I'm looking forwards to class, especially Flying and Herbology!"

Matt smirked in Gabe's direction, though leaves the subject of gobstones for now as others arrive and join the group. If this got much bigger, they might as well start a club.
He felt a passionate grin form on his face as Lizzie made a rather bold comment about the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, keeping an arm around James as he listened to Lizzie introduce herself, and then after Gabe made his own introduction, Matt chimed in. "Good to meet you Lizzie, another Ravenclaw, I'm sorry but that just means one more disappointed face when Gryffindor take the Quidditch cup this year!" He beamed, though the smile fades as James leaves the group only to be replaced by another. This time, it was a boy he recognised, they'd sat together on the train. He didn't say anything at first as Liam spouted off about Gryffindor. Finally, when there was an opening he spoke. "Well well, seems I have a stalker. Good to see you Liam. There's a reason you've not seen a team that has put up a fight against Gryffindor, and that's because it's the start of term, idiot." He started laughing, seemingly happy for the extra company.
He looked back to Gabe now. "You can trust Liam, as soon as the try-outs appear on the notice board, the three of us will rock the team. Even if we end up being benched, it's a start!"

Andrea wished to go down to the courtyards. She was a bit lost, so she had to ask a 4th year slytherin where she could find it. Unfortunately, it was a group of 14 year old boys that thought it would be hilarious to point her to the dungeons. After stumbling around the darkness for a bit, she found someone to ask for directions. She staggered into the courtyard and fell onto the grass. She glanced around to see if there were any familiar faces there. Maybe someone from her muggle school that had just found out about their magic abilities, too. But she didn't see anyone she knew. As she looked around she felt a sickening feeling in her stomach. She was surrounded by complete, and total strangers. She started yearning for her friends back home, and her loving family. She even missed her bed. After fighting back the tears for a moment. She couldn't hold it in any longer. She started crying soft, silent tears. Hoping no one would see her, she hurriedly wiped her eyes. She would be here until the holidays. So there was no point in crying anyways, it wouldn't bring her back home. She sat there, wishing someone would come over and break the ice. So maybe she would find a friend and feel less lonely.

Mentioning: @Liam Bennet @Lizzie McGregor @Ayuna Baudelaire @Matthew Robertson @Andrea DanielsGabriel smirked at Matt's comment towards the new Ravenclaw that joined their group. Soon after Lizzie appeared and Gabe made introductions, James left. Perhaps he was bored, but it was whatever. They were joined by a new Gryffindor called Liam. Like James, he seemed to have the confidence about Quidditch which he joined in on. He repressed a grin at Matt's comment regarding James take on who can or cannot beat Gryffindor. "The lad is right, James, the first match between Gryffindor hasn't happened yet how would you know?"
He took a moment to look and glance at everyone in their growing group. It was weird how they all seem attracted to one another (attracted as in the feeling to get to know), and they all bonded over their likeness of Quidditch. He was glad he'd have some friendly faces and friends to look forward to seeing if and when he decided to join the team.
"Indeed, I think us three together would be unstoppable and rather challenging to whatever team takes us on. That goes for the Ravens and Snakes!" He beamed at the others, joining in on the overconfidence in the team's abilities.
Just as he finished his bold statement, he spotted a girl sitting on the ground. She seemed upset, and from what he could see on her robes she was probably a hufflepuff and a firstie like himself. He watched her for a moment before getting an idea. He focused on the group again and got their attention.
"Don't all look at the same time, since I know that's what you'd do. But there's another kid over there seemingly upset. D'ya think we could potentially happen to walk over there? That's what this is about right? Making new friends, I don't think it's right to leave her lying there alone. Plus, we'll have ourselves our first hufflepuff."

Liam continued to hold his arm around Matt as he listened to Ayuna introduce herself, though he couldn't help but quirk his eyebrow at her suggestion that Ravenclaw was more prepared than Gryffindor for Quidditch. He couldn't deny that Ravenclaw had a strong team from what he’d heard, but he had trust in his own house's players and their ability to come out on top. With a playful smirk on his face, Liam readied his response. "Want to make a bet on that?" he challenged, his voice laced with jestful conviction. "I have faith that Gryffindor will win their next encounter with Ravenclaw." As he spoke, his smirk broke out into a full-fledged, confident smile. He chuckled at the thought of the next match between the two houses, excited to see how it would play out. He had no doubt that Gryffindor would come out on top, and he was more than willing to put a little bit of money on it or face a potential forfeit to prove it.
Of course Matt and Gabriel chirped up soon after, pointing out the logical flaw in Liam’s previous statement - it wasn’t literal but he couldn’t fault his fellow Gryffindors' observation. All he could do in response was lift the hand that was wrapped around Matthew’s shoulder and run it through the northerner’s hair in the opposite direction to the way it was already sitting. He also turned his head towards Gabriel in tat moment “I know I haven’t actually watched one of the games, but I’ve heard a lot from family and friends who have been here before. Next time you guys should just go with it, now we don't seem cohesive.” He rolled his eyes again and returned his hand to its previous location on his friend’s shoulder, joining with the laughter in the moments after. A subtle wave of embarrassment passed over his stomach, but it wasn’t physically noticeable - hopefully this wouldn’t develop into a habit. “But yeah, the tryouts are basically already over with the three of us in the running.”
A figure crossed his vision, first falling to the ground and then breaking out into tears. While Gabriel appeared to advise a subtle approach, Liam immediately untethered himself from Matt and strode towards the figure soon revealed to be a member of Hufflepuff house. The blonde boy cleared his throat and brushed his hair back over his head as he approached the girl, trying to exude a sense of calm and comfort. It was pretty clear that there was nobody else out there with her at that moment. He could see the remnants of tears both in her eyes and on her cheeks, she must have been feeling overwhelmed which was fair. The Gryffindor extended his right arm out to her with hand open invitingly. “Hey, I’m Liam. Are you alright? There’s a group of us just over here if you want to come over and join us?”

I clutched the tattered book of 'Fantastic Beasts and where to find them" tight in my hands. My eyes scanned over the words quickly, absorbing every word, as images of Thunderbirds and Nifflers danced through my head. But the courtyard seemed to echo with a gradual stream of chatter growing louder and louder.
Looking up, I saw an incredibly large group of first years, gathered around a seemingly discarded game of gobstones. They were all laughing happily and one guy, a gryffindor boy who I think was called Liam, was even inviting a small hufflepuff girl to join them. The images of Fantastic animals dissolved and new pictures formed in my head - pictures of friends.
This was incredibly unusual for me. I knew I was probably the most extroverted and bubbly kid in the school! But since the sorting, since the doubt that had been planted in my head, I was uneasy about associating with anyone from Gryffindor. What if they saw I was in the wrong house? I rolled my eyes and looked down at my book again. Worrying wasn't going to change anything.
I tucked my crazy hair behind my shoulder and continued to read . . . though the images started twirling through my head again, half of my brain seemed to be peering towards the group, wondering if they would want me as a friend.

I don't have a train of thought. I have 7 trains on 4 tracks, all narrowly avoiding each other when the paths cross, all the passengers are screaming and there's that annoyingly calm female conductors voice in the background.

Andrea looked up, a boy was approaching her. She could guess he was a gryffindor. The next thing she knew, he was inviting her to join him and his group. Andrea wiped at her face, embarrassed. She smiled at Liam. "I'm Andrea. Sure, I'd love to join!" She got to her feet and walked to the rest of the group. She admired his bravery, she could never just walk up to whoever she saw that was lonely and just talk to them. But then again, isn't that what gryffindor's all about, daring? Andrea observed all the rest of the people in the group. "Hey, I'm Andrea." She said, remembering to introduce herself. She stole glances at Liam when he wasn't looking. It wasn't in a romantic way, she just wanted to look closer at the boy who saved her from loneliness. He was quite handsome, he had beautiful brown eyes and blonde, curly hair. She glanced at the rest of the group. Deciding she had to say something else, she said, "Sorry," She points to her face, gesturing that she was apologizing for crying. "Hogwarts is just a lot, I'm muggleborn." She shyly smiled. I saw that the group had a wide varieity, slytherins, gryffindors, a ravenclaw and now her. She didn't know what else to say, so she waited for someone else to speak.

He'd just finished speaking when Liam took a much different approach to talking to the distressed girl. Gabriel pretended not to take notice but watched them through the corner of his eyes. He admired the way Liam handled it, suppressing a smile at his new friend's willingness to help out. He had obvious qualities of Gryffindor.
Hoping Liam would catch his eye at some point, Gabe gave a subtle thumbs up. His eyes glimmered with pride at Liam's success as he walked back towards the group with the new girl. "That was much easier than I suspected, great job Liam." He patted Liam heartedly on the back as he glanced at the newcomer.
"I think this is the biggest group of kids I've seen together in the same place. Glad you can be a part of it." He reached a handout to Andrea. It was such a common gesture he made when meeting new people, especially if they looked respectable. "Gabriel Palmer. Pleasure to meet your acquaintance. And don't worry about it, we understand how hard it can be." He dismissed her apology, smiling warmly at her. He quite understood how it felt to feel alone here, he was sure he would meet no friends before today. Everyday there were new worries, nothings worse than embarrassment of breaking down in front of people. He certainly wouldn't want anyone feel like that if he could help it.
