The Great Hall was bustling like usual.

Kim sighed as he looked around at all the people gathered together in the large room. He didn't care for it.

Large crowds weren't his thing and he was debating about getting up and going outside to finish his meal. But at the same time, that would require some effort on his part. Grabbing some food, storing it into a container and then finding a place to sit down and eat it later on. Or he could just suck it up and try and ignore the people around him and finish his meal as soon as possible. Kim was currently wearing a red shirt and black pants combination. It was pretty warm inside, so he could afford to dress comfortably right now.

But if he went outside, he'd have to grab a jacket or change his outfit entirely to do so. Deciding on just sticking it out in the Great Hall, Kim focused on eating and attempted to ignore the chatter around him. It worked for a few minutes until someone came over to his table and spoke to him. Kim looked up to see a Hufflepuff standing there. Not someone he recognized at first glance. It looked like a first year. Upon closer inspection, he had black hair and brown eyes. They went together well. But his words were a bit surprising.

Kim regarded him for a moment.

"That's me. Do I know you?" Kim asked, letting his blue eyes flicker over him.

The duelist assumed he was a Hufflepuff because he'd come from the direction of that table. But he could have been wrong because just because you sat at a certain table didn't necessarily mean you belonged to that House. After all, sometimes Kim found himself sitting at the Slytherin table every now and then. Unintentionally. It was just that his body seemed to instinctively go there for some reason. Maybe his body avoided the Ravenclaw table simply because the teen didn't want to be reminded of a certain carrot-top girl.

One who had turned into a blueberry cupcake on the first day of her second year.

André hoped that the person he walked up to knew who he was or at least were he would be. But when he said 'that's me' André could feel his face heat up. This was embarrassing... Asking Kim who Kim was...

"No you don't know me... I think? My Name is André Lebedev, my mother told me that were somehow related. And she wanted me to talk to you, Soo- um hi?" He tried to explain, but he sounded more awkward then anything. He thought so at least. The great hall was very full, full of people and chatter about there classes and friends. Or various other things. Like it always was, this would be André's first time at the Gryffindor table. He normally stayed at his own table with a few exceptions.

Even with him sitting down he could tell they were about the same height, witch was a bit surprising as he had been taller then almost everyone around his age. His eyes kept on flickering up too his red hair. Couldn't be natural? Right? "I like your hair, did you dye it to show house pride?" He asked. André couldn't help but be a bit curious, Who wouldn't be?

The boy's face suddenly became a tomato.

Kim raised a brow as he continued to gaze at the person who had chosen to come over and interrupt him.

But as he started to speak, revealing why he'd come over to find him, Kim's brow furrowed and creased as he tried to make sense of this. Wait, related to him? What? He blinked, trying to make some sense of this. The teen didn't recognize the name Andre but... Lebedev... that sounded vaguely familiar to him for some reason. Kim was silent for a few minutes and then it hit him where he'd heard the name before. "Ah! You're my uncle's nephew, aren't you? You're um... Celine's son! Right?" Kim exclaimed, looking up at him...

The redhead's blue eyes flickered over him for confirmation. If this was true, then Andre was his uncle's nephew, who had no blood relation to Kim's own family, but was still treated as a family member. Back in the past, the children (Kim and Andre) had both been told that they could refer to themselves as cousins. Mostly because it was too confusing for younger children to wrap their minds around the complexities of family relationships and having them think of themselves as cousins was much easier. Kim regarded Andre.

He hadn't seen him in ages.

If this was his cousin (who was not his cousin at the same time), then he'd have to look out for him.

"Take a seat. You don't want to wear out your legs standing there. Unless, you're trying to gain some stamina in them." Kim remarked and patted the seat next to him. Thankfully, there weren't many sitting at the table right now around him. They were all crowded together at the main portion of the table. Kim had specifically taken a seat at the end of the table, all the way near the back to avoid as many people as possible. But he'd also made sure to not sit directly at the end of the table. Yes, there were risks.....

Someone could come over and take a seat there. But Kim had already considered that and had intentionally made sure there wasn't enough space for someone to do that. And if they tried to, without asking for permission, Kim would literally shove them off the end..... He wasn't a violent person, most of the time, but when it came to personal space, he was adamant about not being crowded. When Kim had encouraged Andre to sit down, he had specifically patted the seat next to him. Not the one at the very end of the table......

"It's been awhile... cousin." Kim remarked.

Andre's attention was drawn to his hair and just as Kim was about to speak about it, he was beat to the punch. A faint smirk came to his lips. "Nah. It's something I've done all my life, my parents did it too when they were younger. I change my hair color once a month to mix things up a little. This month is red, next month... I'm thinking... orange maybe? What about you? Have you ever tried dyeing your hair before? With spells or the old fashioned slow way?" Kim asked.

"If you're interested, I could show you how to do it. Or you could do it yourself." He suggested, curious about what Andre's take on all this would be.

"Yes she's my mother!" The boy responded to Kim's question on his mother. So he dose know. At least a little bit. He was still a bit embarrassed about not recognizing him at first but that was slowly going away. Thankfully.

André took up his relatives offer for the seat, made sure to sit far away enough they weren't were touching and had some breathing room, but close enough so they could still have a nice conversation! He really wanted it to be a nice conversation. But then again how many ways could in go wrong? Not many right? Just focus on a nice an pleasant conversation and nothing could easily go wrong.

With his focus back on Kim he nodded quite a bit at his remark at how it had been a while. As it have indeed been a while. "It really has" he gave voice to his thoughts.

He listened intently at the older teens explanation on his hair dye schedule. He found it quite interesting, a new color each month. And the red was not for house pride. "I think orange would look good on you! And no I haven't tried to dye my hair yet, I think it would be interesting though!" he paused to think for a spilt moment. "If I did I think it would only be a little bit, not my whole head like you have" He gestured to his hair with a slight nod of head.

"I might have to take you up on that offer Kim! Probably latter though, when I've had time to think about color and what not.." Completely unaware that in a few months he would be getting his hair dyed, not by Kim but a Ravenclaw.

Andre's response was expected by him.

Of course he would react affirmatively, if he hadn't Kim would have become suspicious of his relationship.

Kim nodded as Andre spoke of how he thought orange would look good on him. "I think so too." He'd already done it before last year. But this year he hadn't used the color and there was always a chance he could mess up the coloring this time. After all, Kim was using muggle dyes. Yes, there were color-changing spells specifically designed for changing hair color but what was the point in using spells to change your hair color? It would be done within a matter of seconds. At least with muggle dyes, it tended to take some time....

Mainly for the color to take effect on your hair. But that was the best part, the anticipation of seeing how things would turn out, rather than it just turning out instantly through a spell. Still, if Kim didn't have much time to change his hair color, he'd use a spell but most of the time he preferred the muggle dyes. As Andre expressed his interest in possibly coloring his hair later but not the entire head, Kim nodded. "You'd probably look good with some highlights or streaks. What kind of person are you?" Kim asked.

Sometimes a person's personality might bring out certain colors.

"If you ever get into dyeing on a regular basis, definitely come see me. I'd love to help."

Kim told him and let his blue eyes flicker over the younger boy before him. "After all, we're family. I feel the need to look out for you since you're at the same school now." He added and a smirk came to his lips. "Even though you're in the Badger House." Kim teased him a little and tried not to think about Rabbit... "How are you doing so far at the castle?" The redhead asked, as he munched on some mashed potatoes and steak. Some caramelized carrots also quickly went into his mouth a few seconds later...

Kim's next question thoroughly stumped him, not because it was hard or anything. It was just unexpected, and he wasn't asked anything like it before really. "um well, I get lost kinda easily.. I like to joke around, I'm like Five two.." he paused to think foe a moment. "Sometimes when I'm happy ill start speaking French, or Russian." was he doing this right?

André nodded at his offer for help, "I appreciate it!" the hufflepuff smiled. He looked at Kim we he said that they were Cousins, even if they weren't really. It was still nice to have someone who wasn't his sister.

"hey! Hufflepuffs are very nice thank you. And baggers are super cool!" he joked with a smile. "I think I'm doing well, it is quite huge though.. And the classes are hard but Exciting you know? I'm trying to get every spell I can out if it." he responded to his question with a question. and a shrug at the end.

He wondered if he felt the same way when he first got here, or his sister. Well he knew a bit about what his sister was thinking from the letters she had sent the family, and the ones specifically addressed to André.

Kim thought for a few seconds.

"Hm. Maybe some white streaks would look good on you. Or perhaps some gold ones."

"You have a preference to either one? White would go well with your personality but gold would represent your House colors." Kim said as he let his blue eyes flicker over him for a moment. "It'll be easier once you reach year 2 as you'll learn how to use color-changing spells but I do prefer the muggle way to dye your hair as it's more hands-on." The teen told him with a shrug of his shoulders. "Ah, you speak French and Russian? I don't know those languages yet." Kim said.

"Although, they're on my list of languages to learn sometime. I only know Japanese, Korean, English and Mandarin." Kim confessed. "Mandarin being the latest one I've learned and am fluent in." He'd learned it directly before attending Hogwarts a year ago and had adopted the Mandarin word for goodbye as his trademark farewell to others. "How did you learn the two?" Kim asked, curious. Of course, the French was probably from his family, but what about the Russian? Was it self-taught or not??

Kim tilted his head to the side.

Baggers? Ooo, that must be a cute nickname Hufflepuffs tended to call eachother all the time!

"That's cute. Baggers. Kind of like how Lions tend to say 'roar' all the time." Kim didn't know much about Hufflepuffs. Other than they had one of the prettiest, rudest, vanilla caramel skinned pretty boy within their ranks. But it wasn't as if he thought about that often. Not at all. Nope. The thought hadn't even occurred to him. Of course not. Kim's attention was drawn back to his cousin's words. "Mm. It's pretty big at first when you're not used to it. But after awhile, you'll get to feeling as if it's really small..."

"It even becomes like a second home." Kim reassured Andre.

"If you ever need some help, feel free to send me an owl and I'll help you out." He told him.

"White streaks would be cool! So would gold.. Hmm" White and gold did remind him of Christmas though, only if they were together. If he did do it, he would have to do them apart. So he didn't look like a Christmas tree."No, I don't really have a preference for either. Booth of them are pretty colors." How could a color go with his personality? It was a but confusing to understand. But he could see it. Color changing spells? That would be something! All the fun you could have with that. He was a way a way from being in second year though.

André listened as Kim spoke about all the languages he could speak and wanting to learn French and Russian. "French is from.my mom, she taught me and my sister. And Russian is from my dad, we visit my family in Russia sometimes and the don't really speak much English so its best for me to know both." he answered Kim's question. "And you? How did you learn all of those?" He asked in return.

It was André's turn to tilt his head, "They do? I know that actual Lions say 'roar' but Gryffindor dose the same?" Badgers was just a nickname he had for hufflepuff, so he didn't have to say tit every single time he talked about his house. Was roar the same thing for the gryffs? André had plenty of doubts that the school would ever feel small. But the second home, that was something he felt could definitely happen! Pretty much everyone he had met so far had been extremely nice, and the classes were going good. For the most part.

"ill definitely keel that in mind! Warning in advance though, my owl tends to be a tad stubborn" he let out a small laugh.
