Bailey liked to think that she knew her best friend well, better than most people.
well duh I am his best friend she thought, smiling at him.
“That makes sense- we both know so many people. I would much rather spend time with just you than a whole crowd of people- I know I can just be me around you, all emotions and feelings and not having to hide anything. I hope… I hope I can do the same for you <3 .” Bailey said.
She smiled sadly when Kim mentioned people not wanting to interfere with their lives.
“I am sure people do want you in their lives- everyone needs a Kim in their lives. I know I do, I know I would not be who I am without you. You are the reason I am who I am- thank you.”
Bailey hugged Kim, for thanks and for comfort.
If someone’s safe space could be a person, Baileys was Kim.
well.. that and the library she thought, to herself.

Later, when Kim had finished his hot dog and Bailey had finished hers, he asked to see her notebook.
Bailey had not shown this notebook to anyone, but if she wanted to show anyone, Kim would be her first pick.
He said they were pretty for sketches, and she smiled. The complement wasn’t much, but she could see the ghost of a true Kim smile, which was the cause of her happiness.
“Have you ever tried to design new foods or deserts before?” Bailey asked curiously.

Lily was excited for today for many reasons. One, she was going to meet her quill pal, Irina Sousa. And two, she was going to go watch the first task for the Hexiwizard Tournament. Lily wasn’t sure who she was going to support. Hogwarts or Ilvermony. Probably Hogwarts. It depends really. Anyway Lily was practically jumping from foot to foot.
Then her cousin popped in her mind and her excitement dimmed. Her and Colin had not been speaking to each other for several days. Lily had accidentally outed his lycanthropy to her friend, Oliver Brown. And Colin hadn’t taking it well. Like any reasonable person would. But she wasn’t going to let that spoil her day. And Irina knew Colin so maybe she could get him calmed down enough so Lily can apologize. Or Lily could not tell Irina and let Colin come around. That might work. Hopefully.
And she wanted to try Butterbeer. Colin told her that was really good. And Colin’s tastes are pretty good. As far as she’s seen.
She walked into the ballroom and looked around for her quill pal. Her eyes fell on Bailey Glade a girl Lily had recently met at a party. And then Colin. Oh lord. Then last but not least Irina! Walking over to her Lily smiled. “Are you Irina Sousa?”[\color]

Kim nodded.

He wasn't surprised Bailey felt more comfortable with him than with anyone else, truthfully he did too.

Not that Kim would ever admit this to her, or for that matter to anyone else. As his parents had drummed into him, admitting such a thing would be considered a weakness that could be exploited by others. Especially if they found out his true last name and tried to get closer to him because of this, like what had happened back in the past. Such a thing could happen again in the present, it wasn't too farfetched an idea. But for now, Kim was safe. He'd tried to spread around the Aoki name to cover his bases with other people.

And it seemed to be working for the most part, as no one had seemed to approach him to be friends because they knew who his family were. That or they were doing one hell of a job acting as if they didn't know. Bailey hugged him again and Kim gazed down at her for a few seconds. She reminded him of Sophia at the moment and a shadow crossed his face momentarily but disappeared when she lifted her head again. Kim gave her a half-smile and devoted himself to eating his food and watching the matches. That was why they were here...

Bailey's question made him ponder.

"I've dabbled in a few things but mostly I tend to make recipes I already know." Kim told her.

"I don't really have much time to come up with creations of my own. Classes, homework, clubs and dueling tend to occupy most of my time. The free time I have I tend to spend sleeping, doing artwork, writing songs or... other things..." Kim trailed off, not about to tell Bailey these 'other things' had to do with pranks he tended to pull on others. He had a feeling she probably wouldn't like knowing about his extracurricular activities. The crowd suddenly exploded with loud cheers......

Kim looked over and saw that one of the matches, the one between Mahoutokoro and Ilvermorny had just reached its conclusion. Mahoutokoro had won. The underdog that no one had thought would pose a threat had taken out its first school to claim the win. Kim was surprised by this, he hadn't thought Mahoutokoro would destroy the other team, he'd thought it would have been a close match. Now, there was only one team left remaining to see who would come out on top. Once that had been decided, the first task would be over.

Right?

Kim was curious to see what the second task would be and when it would be held at Hogwarts.

Well, at least the ones that were being a bit more noisy than usual had a bit of self-awareness of their volume. As Piérre let down his guard a little bit in trying to keep an eye on Figaro, he instead turned his attentions towards the newcomers who had spoken to him; a bring young lady with blonde hair and blue eyes as and her pale comrade with more honey-like hair. Piérre smiled a little bit as he observed those blue eyes. His brother had blue eyes... and such blonde hair and blue eye combination was a rare sight in Italy, often considered a beauty to many a young man. He remembered when he had been younger how some of the young men around the cities would sometimes tease their foreign tourists who had such traits, especially during their wine celebrations: the Sagra dell’Uva in Marino Rome. He remembered with a small internal chuckle one time he witnessed a handful of them set up position on a rooftop waiting for a blonde young lady to step outside, thereupon they dumped a basin of wine onto her light hair in a game of jest and celebration. Seeing the tourist a day later, Piérre remembered that her hair had turned pink thanks to the impromptu wine dye job.

In the present day now, his emerald eyes would pick up a very fond sparkle; a good memory striking him despite the recent ill fortune that he had been running headlong into. The boy would let a small smile cross his features. Of course, house pride and all. Hogwarts' champion was a Hufflepuff after all; with these two such patriotism only made sense. "Of course, of course. Naturally." He replied gracefully, nodding along while still not quite able to entirely draw his eyes away from the girl's blue eyes. Blue like deep water, something you could drown in...

And it was that thought, that of drowning, that finally turned the boy away from being enthralled by the eyes and instead simply awed by them. Eyes were pretty, after all. Piérre was more than fond of making almost uncomfortable eye contact just so that he could see those small details in the iris of a person's eye, that specific pattern that seemed symmetrical and yet unique. Instead, the boy busied himself over the fact that this girl seemed interested in initiating a conversation, or at least was interested in exchanging pleasantries. She mentioned Colin... that fun kid that he had met waaaaaay back at the creative arts place... and one that he had actually kissed... That was a fun recent memory.

So, was AngelFyre McCubbin (as she called herself) with her compatriot Simon Kincaid also friends of Colin? The claim that she herself was a 'pal' of his seemed to imply it... but one could never be too careful as to who you considered a friend and who was someone you should try to keep a little distance away from.

"Nice to meet both of ya. I haven't seen either of you around, really... But, you're a duelist, right?" Piérre asked of the Hufflepuff girl. "Heard that you won your first game yesterday. Was it fun?" Piérre attempted to make his own tries at conversation. He himself had also had a match the day before... though his had not gone nearly as well; himself unconscious with what he was told later to be a concussion, a dislocated shoulder, light burn injuries, and a heaping helping of disorientation and delusion. Naturally he had done the only sane thing imaginable and had left the wing as soon as he had woken up even in a remotely stable state with his arm back in socket. No way did he trust anyone in the Hospital Wing to do their job, he would have much rather tried to take care of things himself (including the extensive physical therapy he would need to make sure that there was no lingering damage to his shoulder). "Just recently got into dueling... and, well, it's not my strong suit just yet." Came the slightly sheepish confession.

His keen eye appraised the other boy for a second as well. "Kincaid... Broom Racer, right? Can't say I have any love for it myself; Quidditch was my preference of the broom sports, to be honest."

He was curiously withholding his name thus far... but there was a reason for that; he was trying to scout for personality, for intention. What kind of people were these individuals, exactly? Were they looking for something or were they legitimate? Call him suspicious, but Piérre liked to make sure that he wasn't the one being played in any given situation. It was a horrible feeling, that sensation of being used for someone else's agenda...

"Friends of Colin? He talked about me? Huh, I guess I'm not used to that sort of thing. I'm Pietro, but you can call me Pi." A small smile. Of course, if they had spoken with Colin, they could have known his true name... but if they didn't... then Pi would appear to fit the bill whether his name was Pietro or Piérre. It was a half-truth... they didn't have to know, and what they didn't happen to know didn't hurt them. And if they did eventually learn?

Well, that bridge would be crossed when Piérre came to it.

A hush came over the crowd, and Piérre's attention was drawn back to the game that he had been watching just in time to witness his brother speed across the board and towards an unmoving body on the ground. Eyes widening slightly, Piérre stood up from his seat in the stands so that he could get a better look at what was going on. Mouth slightly open as if by tilting his chin upwards he would be able to somehow see what was going on better, mild worry began to percolate in his mind. "Hey... do you think that people should be starting to... uh... hand out medical attention to the people that got knocked out by now?"

Because... nobody was moving to help at all... and the ones that had been revived by their own teammates looked... not quite right. It seemed as if the only person trying to call for medical help was his own brother, a lower pitched voice that easily cut through the whispers and the idle drivel of nearby conversations.

Was he supposed to just stand idly by while all of this happened?

If that was the case, then clearly nobody knew the kid named Piérre Marchonné.

Kim nodded to her saying that she was more comfortable around him than any other person, like he knew that already.
She hugged him away, and when she pulled away he gave her a soft half smile.
Bailey honestly was not super interested in the matches, despite that they were the reason she was there. More interested in her sketches, she shared with Kim when he asked about them.
“I usually make new recipes when home, and with mum or my grandmothers.” Bailey said.
She smiled when Kim said ‘other things.’
“I have a sneaking suspicion that I know what some of those ‘other things’ are.” Bailey said with a laugh. She knew Kim could be quite a prankster, and had a feeling that may have been what he was referring to.
Cheers startled Bailey, and she glanced over to see that the match between Mahoutokoro and Ilvermorny had just finished.
Mahoutokoro had won, and that made Bailey wonder if her friend Hiro was in the crowd somewhere.
Scanning the crowd, Bailey spotted more than a few people that she recognized.
@Simon Kincaid and @AngelFyre McCubbin talking to @Piérre Marchonné. Bailey also spotted @Lily Brown talking to one of baileys friends, @Irina Sousa.

The games kept running and every time someone got hit Irina squeezed and grimaced with the sight of it. How in hell people decide to go it that willingly? Perhaps this people have some such adoration for fame that would do anything to accomplish it? Maybe besides being hit by metal, rocks and spells is still being fun to participate? Irina took a mental note of everything that happened so far so she could remember it in the future, don't ever cross her mind to sign up for such a thing!

Two of the games where over now, Mahoutokoro and won to Ilvermorny and Durmstrang to Beauxbatons. Just only one game was still in progress, Hogwarts against Koldovstoretz and our team was playing well so far. Rina was pretty excited see Hogwarts players giving their best at it, she didn't knew any of them personally, the only person she had seen before was Opeila Winters one of her house's prefects. She was focused in following the latest moves with her eyes when she noticed that someone had approached her on the bench, it was a red haired girl with green eyes, green eyes that somehow felt familiar. “Are you Irina Sousa?” The girl asked smiling at her, and Irina knew immediately who she was, "Hi! Lily?" Rina replied to her quill pal, "Nice to meet you finally!" She said, "Come, take a seat!" Irina said sliding a bit on her seat and pushing Lucian aside with her, "This one is Lucian," she said pointing with her thumb behind her back, "And this is Avery!" Irina gestured towards the friendly girl seated on her other side. "Lily Brown" She finished indicating the new arriving girl.

Kim nodded.

It wasn't surprising to him that the girl made up new recipes at home with her family, it made sense.

At Hogwarts, there was so much to do, classes, studies, clubs, events, errands etc... there wasn't even enough time in the day to do them all. Plus, they weren't allowed in the main kitchens until their fourth year or something along those lines. Sure, they could sneak in, but that was risky as detention would result in this should they be caught in the process. Sneaking into the kitchens was a higher risk than breaking other rules. Because someone or something would inevitably see you inside and there was no excuse you could make up.

No excuse that would be reasonable and believable that is. There was also no good way to explain your presence inside the kitchen, as there could only be one reason why you were there in the first place. Other things, like being out after curfew, playing pranks on others, sneaking out to Hogsmeade, dueling outside of the dueling club, fighting, skipping classes and eating and drinking in the library...well, they were all flexible. And by flexible, Kim meant he had no issues doing them and had done them before on quite a regular basis.

Maybe he would even keep on doing them.

Those types of things were also harder to get caught and even if you did get caught redhanded...

It was easier to come up with a reasonable excuse, which could allow you to escape detention if you managed to convince the one who caught you to let you go. Kim had a tendency to work alone and had never gotten caught once up until this point in time. But that was because he picked and chose his pranks well and was extremely careful about the time and things that he did. For him, it wasn't so much breaking the rules as it was playing pranks on others. If he'd been able to play pranks without breaking rules, Kim would've done it.

The teen's attention was drawn back to the present when Bailey spoke. Kim glanced down at her and raised a brow at her words. "Oh? What do you think they are?" He asked, wondering what was going through her mind right now. It wasn't as if he advertised the fact that he liked playing pranks on people all the time. Most of the time no one even knew who was responsible for most of the pranks he'd pulled, as unlike most pranksters, Kim didn't tend to stick around to see whether his prank ended up being successful or a failure.

He never had.

It was how he'd managed to stay under the radar for so long and never get caught in the process.

Sure, when he collaborated on a prank things might stray from his usual type of method. But that was a different matter, as it wasn't one that he created or did on his own. Sometimes he played a minor, harmless prank on his friends now and then. But that also wasn't really a prank, it was more of a thing he did to tease them. Once more his thoughts strayed to Sophia and the nose-biting teacup trick he'd played on her at the Blossom Ball. Yet another shadow crossed his face for a moment but vanished soon after with all the cheers.

He gave the notebook back to her and then stood up for a moment. "I'm gonna go grab some dessert. Be back in a second." Kim told Bailey and then left to do just that, trying to distract himself from his thoughts. There was only one match remaining that had yet to be finished and then the first task of the Hexwizard Tournament would be done. It had definitely been quite a battle from start to finish. If he'd had to guess, Kim would 'put his money' on Hogwarts to win the last ongoing match. But then, that was obvious.

If Hogwarts didn't win this battle and they were hosting the tournament...

Well that would look really bad. It couldn't happen at any cost, no matter what had to happen here.

When Kim returned, he was carrying another two hot dogs and hamburgers in his hands. He took a seat and offered one of each to Bailey again. "...don't ask." The orange haired teen said, knowing that these two items were definitely not what he had said he was going to grab for them. They were as far from sweets and desserts as possible. They were savory items. Ones they'd already eaten. But Kim had been so distracted by his thoughts that he'd forgotten he'd brought some chocolate frogs with him in his satchel, back at his seat...

Not wanting to admit that he hadn't been thinking at the time, Kim had bought savory items.

Setting his own food down on the seat, he leaned down to pluck out two chocolate frog boxes from his satchel. Puffie squeaked from his current sitting position on the back of the chair and Kim bent down again to pick out a pygmy treat too. "Yes, I forgot! I have it now!" He exclaimed and handed the treat up to Puffie's current location. Kim glanced back over at the last remaining ongoing match. "How long do you think it'll take for Hogwarts to win?" He asked. There was no question as to who the winner would be.

Banner made by the wonderful @Simon Kincaid

The boy, the upperclassman AngelFyre had addressed, actually responded to her. For some reason that surprised her. If she had put any real thought into it, she would have discovered the reason she found it to be surprising was because she operated from the belief that most older students would just rather not be bothered by the younger ones. And again, if she had put any thought into it... which she had not... she would have wound her way somewhere along her mind's meandering trail to see the folly in that belief system. True, some upperclassmen... and upperclasswomen, thankyouverymuch.... did not and could not be bothered by the subset scourge of peons amassing in the dormitories and hallways to which they themselves once belonged.... and still did, actually, unless they were 7th years. Then, from that pinnacle peak of illuminated thinking, she would have finally found herself confronting her enormous gratitude that Simon had never been of that mindset. Had he been, she and he would not be sitting there together, six ridiculously euphoric months into their relationship. Without even being aware she was doing it in that moment, she squeezed his hand three times while still looking to the boy she had come to think of as Pi.

He did smile when he addressed her, but AngelFyre’s years of sidelining herself in social situations to observe as opposed to interacting had not entirely left her simply because her boyfriend was a social butterfly. No, she was who she was still, and who she was at her core was an observer. She could handle large groups, when necessary, in very small doses. But this was different. There were lots of people around, but she was not expected to interact with all of them, and therein lay the difference. So, she smiled openly and genuinely at him, and why would she not? But his smile was guarded and there was no mistaking a hesitancy radiating off him.

Still smiling, she met his gaze, which she had to admit, carried on slightly longer than such initial gazes normally would. She in no way picked up a spark coming from the boy towards her like she had picked up from Simon, but still, there was something going on behind those piercing green eyes. Possibly he was an observer as well and was trying to size her up and the situation.

AngelFyre could immediately feel her cheeks begin to warm from her embarrassed blush at the mention of her duel the day before, but then she relaxed a bit when he mentioned his had not gone well. “Yes, I do have a win to my credit, however, it was only my second duel and it ended with me in the Hospital Wing,” and she rolled her eyes as she chuckled. “You asked if I had fun with it? I did indeed. Right up to the point where I was set ablaze for what felt like f o r e v e r and then,” and she stopped to laugh a little more, “the pièce de résistance just had to be the moment when my Flipendo critically failed and I knocked myself out of my own match! Oh, the sheer humiliation of it!” AngelFyre grinned at him while shaking her head in disbelief at that embarrassing bit of dueling theatrics. Eyes sparkling with her suppressed laughter she tried to cheer him up with, “So take heart. Nothing that happened to you up on that piste yesterday could have been anything near as embarrassing. Besides, we can only get better, right? Hospital or not, I still played a vital role in my match. That is how I choose to see it anyway.” she finished encouragingly.

She was about to turn back around and leave the fellow in peace… well, in as much peace as one could get in a ball room set up as a stadium, holding hundreds? thousands? of souls cheering on their favored teams, when he addressed Simon and mentioned he preferred Quidditch. Most people did, she discovered, but not AngelFyre, and it honestly had nothing to do with Simon being on the team. She had thought it a nice mix of Dueling and Quidditch, up until Hufflepuff’s opening game of the season. It was just brutal. And to her amazement, the brutality came from her beloved badgers. She was still processing everything she felt about that. A win was a win, but still….

Her thoughts turned immediately back to the current situation when the boy introduced himself as Pietro, but then added that they could call him Pi. “A point of clarification as I misspoke or gave the wrong impression. I am indeed great friends with Colin. He is my best friend, in fact,” and she cocked her head Simon’s way, “right after this chap, of course,” and she turned her full gaze to Simon and smiled at him, before continuing. “And no, Colin and I have not spoken of you. I happened to be nearby last spring when you both were having a glitter battle. Nice to officially meet you, Pi. Though my name is AngelFyre, most folks do call me AF.”

And in that moment, there was an odd murmur that moved through the crowd. AngelFyre had been turned to her side, not looking at the board, but she could see a look of concern and confusion on Pi’s face. She turned back around to see what was happening in the matches and sat momentarily stunned. Leaning closer to whisper in his ear, she asked Simon, “This does not feel right, does it? Something seems very… very… wrong down there.”

Hearing distant, yet similar concern coming from Pi, AngelFyre said with a great deal of her own concern in a slightly wavering voice while pointing to a revived player, “Simon, does that person even seem human to you right now?”

Kim nodded, seeming to think that her making up recipes or at least her own variations of them was normal. And for Bailey, it was normal! Something she had don’t her wholes life, or had at least watched her family do her whole life.
Bailey and Kim chatted more, and then Kim asked a question in reply to one of her comments.
“haha it’s we’ll know- we’ll at least well know by me, that you’re a prankster….”
Bailey didn’t elaborate, more than a sly wink in Kim’s direction, followed by a laugh.
A minute later Kim excused himself to go get dessert, and Bailey smiled. She kept writing and sketching, waiting for Kim to return.
Kim returned, with another round of hamburgers and hot dogs. Bailey smiled, trying not to laugh. Savory was not what Kim had said he was gonna get, but she was not complaining. Food was food, and the food here was good.
“Don’t worry, I’m not asking questions- and definitely not complaining!” Bailey said cheerfully, biting into her hamburger.
Kim pulled two chocolate frogs from his Bailey, and it clicked- Kim had forgotten he had a sweet treat in his bag, and had bought the savory dishes so it didn’t seem weird.
Kim dropped a Puffie treat, and Bailey heard Puffie squeak- Bailey smiled and said after swallowing “Puffie! I had almost forgotten you were here!”

Puffie gave Bailey a look when Bailey spoke.

It was almost as if Puffie was trying to say, 'Really? You forgot about me?' without saying it in words.

The pink puffball's eyes went from being wide bug-eyes to narrower slits, as if he was sulking a little. He loved Bailey, almost as much as he loved Kim, but of course Kim was his number one. Always and forever. But he was pouting now because she'd forgotten about his presence! It was kind of amusing to see a tiny little pink puffball perched on the edge of a chair, sulking about being forgotten. Kim glanced over at Bailey as the girl took the pro-offered chocolate frog box and regarded her for a moment. Did she really know a lot?

About him being a prankster... Did she know he and Sia teamed up together to pull of a great number of pranks? Or did she think he was just doing it solo? "How did you find out?" Kim asked, curious, trying to get her to spill where she'd heard about this or how she'd found out. He hadn't told her and as far as he knew, no one else knew either. Which meant either someone involved had spilled the beans and she'd heard about it later on, or she'd witnessed one of his pranks herself. Hopefully, it was the former and not the latter.

Sia and he were already thinking about their next prank.

They were trying to decide if they should pull an elaborate one off at the next Hogwarts event, or not.

After all, it would be a challenge to do so. And there might be some competition in this regard in the form of a certain trickster, as Kim liked to call him. SiaKim (Kim and Elsian's ship name) were still trying to figure out what would be the best course of action, as nothing had been set in stone yet. Kim opened his chocolate frog box and bit off the head of the treat as soon as it tried to jump out. He waited for Bailey to respond to his words and glanced out at the match still going on. How much longer would it take for Hogwarts to win?
