A Strange Encounter
Liliafax sheepishly entered the lavatory. She needed some time alone. She entered a stall and sat. She let her mind wander, her train of thought loose. A tear rolled down her eye. She didn't belong here. She didn't deserve this wonderful place full of magic. She knew she would have to work hard to find her place at Hogwarts. "So that's what I'm going to do." She whispered. Liliafax was a determined girl, and she was going to become a witch! Her mind raced with new hopes and plans. She still trembled, but she had new confidence. Her jovial mood was diminished as she heard a piercing moan. She jumped to her feet. Did she imagine it? She carefully stepped out of the stall. Soon she heard the moans again. Someone was crying. She looked around, trying to find the source. Then she saw her. A girl was curled up in a ball, sobbing. But this wasn't a regular girl, it was a ghost! Liliafax trembled in fear. 'A ghost? But ghosts aren't real! Or are they? This magic thing is so confusing. I really am such a muggle. Wait, is she going to haunt me?!?!' Liliafax 's mind raced. ' What do I do? Do I attack? Flee? Hide?' Liliafax Timberly then fainted away in fear. Her body hit the cold floor with a soft thump. Moaning Myrtle screamed as she flew away, sobbing. And so Liliafax had her first encounter with a magical being.

A Strange Encounter
Verla walked in to have her usual meeting with Myrtle when she saw a living girl there instead. Myrtle screamed as she disappeared and Verla went red right away. The girl was crying, and that made Verla blush even more with wide eyes. "Um, are you- are you alright? What's the matter? I'm a very good listener if you need to talk, I've never seen you around before, I'm Verla, just Verla. So sit, what's wrong?" Verla asked the girl, not giving her much of a choice, but she meant well, and the girl could still refuse if she wanted.
Oliver poked his little head out of her hood, the bowtruckle always checked out new people before he let Verla speak to them any further than she already had. He was too tired to care about her now, so he nodded and dozed back into a sleep.
Verla sat there, waiting to listen to the girls problem. She loved to help people, and she loved it when people trusted her with personal information. She was always a good and will continue to be a good friend, no matter who it is. Even Aravis Escanora, and she wasn't much of a fan of her either, but if she saw her crying, she'd still be willing to listen if Aravis ever let her.

A Strange Encounter
Liliafax only passed out for a second before waking up in tears. A girl was sitting next to her. "I-I 'm sorry. I thought I saw a ghost! My eyes must be playing tricks on me..." Liliafax quietly stated. She felt her forehead, and a small trickle of blood dripped from where she hit her head during the fall. It wasn't much, but there would definitely be a bruise there soon. She really didn't belong here. She knew nothing about magic. But this girl seemed nice, maybe she could trust her. "Um, I'm Liliafax. I just got here. Do you know what happened? Am I just going crazy? " Well, it's nice to meet you, Verla. " The girl had a soft, calm expression on her face. There was something strange about Verla. It was a good kind of strange, though. Liliafax was comforted by her presence. Just then, she saw a strange creature poking out of Verla's hood. It looked to be made of bark, but also seemed to have razor sharp claws. "What is that! Or am I imagining that, too?" She burst into tears again. What was she going to do? She considered running out of the lavatory, but stayed as the girl seemed friendly.

A Strange Encounter
"Myrtle? She's a ghost, they're real here at Hogwarts. And Oliver? He's a bowtruckle. Look you're not going crazy. I'm guessing you're muggle born? Which is okay, I have nothing against that, unless you're a half-blood like me. Look, this is Hogwarts, a place for witches and wizards. People with magical blood in their veins. I'm here to help you okay? But I promise you, you're not going crazy. Okay? I'm Verla and let's jsut sit and chat okay?" The girl was clearly distraught, and Verla treated her like a kid about to lose it, because that was the last thing she needed was a distraught crying person.
So she offered to help the distraught girl, just to sit and talk before the girl lost it.
Verla sat down and gave the girl a tissue and waited for the girl to sit down and begin to talk. Verla meant well, so she tried hard not to treat the distraught girl as a baby. Or a mental person, she just tried to keep both of them calm.
Oliver walked over to the girl slowly, trying to see if it was okay with her every time he got closer. When she didn't move, Oliver got closer and sat on her lap and gave her a smile. He was such a good boy. "You see? He's harmless, but there a lot of other beasts in the magical world, he's one of them, but he doesn't hurt people, he never would." Verla knew this would be therapeutic for her, she needed something cute and cuddly to snuggle while talking, which was exactly what she needed.
Oliver crawled onto her shoulder and patted her cheek lightly and looked at her with his cute brown eyes. Verla smiled lightly at her, hoping she wouldn't shoo him off. "Oh, and don't mind the ghosts here, they're harmless, besides Peeves. I hate Peeves."

A Strange Encounter
Liliafax listened to the girl. She really was nice, and so was her- what did she call it?- bowtruckle. She smiled as the little creature crawled towards her. He seemed very friendly. 'Oh, ghosts are real. I guess I'm not going crazy! But I don't know the first thing about this world...' She thought. "I'm sorry about that. Sometimes I can overreact and will freak out. Yeah, I am muggle-born. My stepfather is a wizard, but he doesn't have time for me. That's why I know nothing about this world. D-do you think you could explain things to me?" Liliafax asked. 'Oh, this little guy is so cute!' She thought to herself. 'Well, I better give this girl a proper introduction, maybe start a conversation. "I'm Liliafax Tinderly but you can- " Liliafax hesitated. 'I just met Verla... Should I let her call me by a nickname?' She pondered. "You can call me Lily" she finished. She did trust Verla, or at the very least, she trusted Oliver. "I'm in Ravenclaw, what about you?" She asked. " Are there any more animals like Oliver? " "And who's Myrtle? Why's she so sad? And who is Peeves? " Liliafax bombarded the girl with questions.

"Moaning Myrtle is her title, she was murdered in these very bathrooms. Dreadful thing it was. And yes there are loads of Bowtruckles, Oliver is just one of a kind, and it is very nice to meet you Lily. I can answer any questions you have about Hogwarts." Verla said, trying to seem nice and friendly. She sat down as Oliver hopped onto Lily's shoulder and rests his head on her jaw. Verla hoped she wouldn't get scared. A lot of people were.
Verla smiled and Lily, happy to be of help, then she remembered her question about Peeves. "Peeves is like a poltergeist I think, he's a trickster. And he's rather mean." Verla suggested to stay away from him if she could, she didn't like Peeves. She liked Myrtle though.
*cough cough cough* "I hope you hadn't forgotten me Vvverla." Verla turned and Myrtle was right there.
She liked Myrtle but she hated the way she said her name. "It's Verla Myrtle, not Vvvverla. It's rather annoying." Myrtle screeched as Verla has just called her annoying "Myrtle I'm sorry, but please stop. Here, I brought you another book." Verla took out her book she'd written and opened it and set it on a spot for her to read. She enjoyed reading, but hated when no one was there to turn the pages.

A Strange Encounter
Liliafax 's eyes widened at the thought of a murder. How terrible! Poor Myrtle... The little bowtruckle came up to her again. "Aw, sorry I was scared of you at first. I'd never seen one of you before. You are such a sweetie. " Lily cooed. She listened to Verla and decided to keep her distance from this 'Peeves' . Just then, Myrtle came back. She watched as she and Verla interacted. Myrtle did seem to be quite annoying. And very sensitive. But she also seemed harmless. Lily couldn't help but feel sympathetic for the ghost. Oliver climbed down from her and curled in Verla 's lap. Maybe this strange world wasn't so scary after all. Seeing Verla and Myrtle together, Lily thought they would like some time alone. But before she left, Lily knew she had to apologize to Myrtle. "I'm sorry that I got scared of you, Myrtle. I've never seen a ghost before, and you startled me. I suppose you want some time alone with Verla, so I'll let you two be." She said politely . Lily then turned to Verla. "I'm going back to my dorm to read up on this world. Thanks for calming me down. I really appreciate it. Will I be able to see you again soon? " Lily questioned.

"Of course, maybe meet me at the great lake for lunch? Tomorrow? If you have time that is. And I was just about to head out too." Verla cupped Oliver in her hand and put him in her hood. She smiled at Lily and was happy to make a new friend.
She picked up her bag and began walking toward the exit, she said to Lily if she ever needed anything, just to find her or look for Oliver. He likes to run around. Though she rarely lets him. Verla smiled again and exited. She was glad to make a new friend, and she was glad she helped someone and make their day. She was tired of Myrtle, which was another reason why she left.
Verla checked her neck for her necklace and realized she'd taken it off. She rushed back inside and saw that Lily had found it, she thanked her and took it from her. She slipped it on and explained that her mother had given it to her before she left for Hogwarts, and since her parents didn't want her anymore, she cherished it, and she rarely took it off unless the ticking in it got annoying, the shape of it was an angel, so it was like a clockwork angel.

A Strange Encounter
"Yeah, the Great Lake sounds great. I'll see you there!" Liliafax said cheerfully. She waved good-bye to Verla and Oliver. She also made sure to say farewell to Myrtle. She stood up and headed off to her dorm. 'Did I just make a friend? I've never had a friend before!' she thought. Just as Verla left, she noticed Verla had left her necklace. It looked like an angel, but it also made a ticking noise, like a clock. She handed it over to Verla as she came rushing back into the lavatory. Lily couldn't help but feel sympathetic for Verla. It was terrible that her parents didn't want her anymore. After Verla left, Lily stood up. She decided to explore Hogwarts some more, so she could get used to her new home. But first, she went back to her dorm. She ought to be more friendly with her roommates. As well as take her owl, Lumina, out. No doubt she was itching to stretch her wings. 'I'll bring her to the great lake tomorrow,' she thought. 'I'd like her to meet Oliver and Verla.' And with that, she left the lavatory with new confidence. Liliafax had a new friend, learned a lot more about the magical world, and was ready for anything!
