History Excursion Part 1 PV Finished

Violet Henley did not often 'adventure'. A woman more accustomed to baking than spelunking and heels to hiking boots, there was little appeal in the idea of traipsing through the unknown and mysterious landscapes of the world. Not when she had warm tea and scones in her cozy nook by the fire to look forward to. She was a generally a social creature, by nature, but comfort often won out over excitement, and the only long, perilous journies she usually endeavored to go on were in the form of fictional novels.

But Alpheus had asked, and despite her apprehensions, she had nevertheless agreed to the venture. He was a new professor to Hogwarts, same as her and for all his excitement and ambition and quirkiness, she knew he was likely anixous about meeting the students and getting along with them. Or at least... That's how she imagined he might feel. But then again, it was Alfie... He had never been anything short of unique, and seemed to take life in with every possible ounce of energy he possessed. She was an eternal optimist, with an open heart and a strong sense of appreciation for the wonder that was living, and Alpheus often made her look dour by comparison.

Incidentally, there was also safety in numbers. With everything they had discussed with Quillius at the Three Broomsticks, regarding the man in the mask, it made sense that they should stick together, particularly when it involved taking students out of Hogwarts. Protecting their charges was the most important part of their new positions, and there was no where Violet wouldn't go to keep the students safe.

That... and Alpheus was decidedly amusing, so any excursion with the man ought to be quite entertaining... Provided he wasn't wearing a robe and a towel on his head.

So finding a comfortable pair of boots (though decidedly less inclined for hiking), an airy silk blouse and khaki medi skirt, and packing a bag with her necessities, she made her way from her office and through the school, to the meeting spot in the grounds.

When she arrived, it seemed the vast majority of the student participants had turned up. They were largely unfamiliar, and she found a bubbling excitement at getting to know so many new faces. Approaching the crowd, she tucked back a loose strand of hair into one of the duel braids she'd fashioned, and setting down her bag, curled her hands around her hips, "Morning, Little Ducks. Alpheus."

ALPHEUS smiled as the tired students arrived, each offering a greeting and offering their slips from parents or guardians. The Professor nodded as they did so, offering hellos and greetings himself, before the entire group was gathered and the adventure ready to begin!

"Welcome all, to our first historic excursion," Alpheus said, as he looked to the other Professor with a grin. "Professor Henley has been kind enough to join us, and will be assisting with faculty duties. Please give her the respect and consideration you'd give me, and whatever she says goes."

Alpheus reached into his pocket, producing a small object. It was a little statue of some large eyed, weird creature. Holding it up for the group to see, the Professor spoke in a somewhat serious tone, making sure to get the attention of each student, so his words weren't ignored.

"This is a portkey, and it is used to transport us rapidly over long distances," Alpheus said as he moved it around for all to see. "Each of us will hold it, and we will begin spinning like we're on a Muggle rollercoaster. It is vital that you do not let go, or you could end up anywhere in the world. I have never had a student go missing, so I'd like to keep that record today... so again, do not let go."

Granted, this is the first group of students to use a portkey with me, so...

The portkey began to glow, which indicated it was nearing the activation time. Thankfully everyone had been on time, save one student, which meant she would miss out. As each of the kids stepped forward and placed a hand on the item, Alpheus couldn't help but smile broadly. This was going to be fun, and he wondered if any of them would be sick...

"Quickly, everyone touch the statue. And whatever you do: Do not let go."

Alpheus grinned, as the portkey activated, and the group began spinning rapidly up into the sky, the world becoming a swirling mass of movement, as they transported across the globe...
