Closed Unexpected Friends

I wonder what people were thinking, fear, excitement, curiosity did not know. It was a choice that would change her life. According to his mother, a hat called a voting hat would be put on their heads and that house would be determined.

Pandora didn't know how to feel, should she be excited or scared. She was alone at school because she had no older sister or brother. If I socialized, nothing would happen, he said to herself.

She glanced around quickly and walked over to the two girls who thought he was about to meet. "Hello, are you both excited? Which house do you think you'll be in? I'm Pandora, by the way, you can call it Dora for short. What's your name."

Again, Pandora had talked too much, but at least she understood that she was excited. She looked at the two girls. She couldn't understand a feeling from the eyes of the two of them.

"What are you feeling right now? I just realized that I was feeling excited. 'Cause I talk too fast and too much." Pandora looked at the two of them curiously. She looked a little like a child. She knew it was childish but she loved it.

Ava shook herself in anticipation. Valarie answered with her name.

“Nice name Valarie. Say, could I call you Val?”

Valarie messed with her braid—if you could call it that. Strands of red-brown hair were loose and the hairband seemed to be no help. Valarie offered her a seat and Ava took it, not able to stand anymore without moving around and fidgeting. The moment Ava sat, another girl joined the conversation. Before even telling them her name, she asked what house they thought they would be.

“Not slytherin for me. I heard they’re mean. And they only accept Pureblood. Do they accept people, I really don't know. I’m pretty new to this all. Maybe Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. Isn’t Hufflepuff basically for all the outcasts?”

Then she introduced herself as Pandora, or just Dora.

“I’m Ava! If you, uh, see me around a lot, you might notice I can be kinda, er—moody. My step-mum is moody too, and she’s usually kinda mean. So if you see me being mean it’s not like, totally my fault. I have mood swings.”

Ava felt like she was over sharing and she blushed. It felt good to admit to her mood swings though. Maybe she would be able to make a few close friends. Ava realized she had cut into what Pandora had finished saying. Ava blushed hard.

“I’m feeling kind of nervous, but really excited. And embarrassed becuase I interrupted you.”

Ava felt weird talking about her feelings. It wasn’t something she did at home, or with her muggle friends. It felt strange at first, but it felt better once she had finished sharing. Like some of those yucky feelings weren’t as important anymore.

“You sure do talk pretty fast. And a lot.”

Ava didn’t say it mean, she said it with a smile and a laugh at the end.

Hearing the other girl talking about buildings, she listened with great attention. Were the Slytherins bad? And only purebreds could enter there, he had a lot of question marks in her mind.

"I think it's silly to judge by the. So it only determines your house, not your character."

She couldn't say anything on the purebred side. She didn't know that much.

Ava. It's a beautiful name. It sounds good, too. Did you know that the name means melody, tone of voice?

She had only found the meaning of his name while searching for names for book fiction. She liked to come up with meaningful names for her story.

"Vala, that's such a weird nickname. I love it."

She was standing, but he was happy. After all, time passed quickly when she spoke.

"It's not like reading a fantasy book, not at all. Much more exciting."

She thought she was talking too much and kept quiet so as not to bore her friends. He started to look around again. There was no longer any need to look into their eyes to see that everyone was even more nervous and excited. After all, it would be clear which house they would belong to for 7 years.

“What a colorful family you have. My mother is a witch and my f deedsather is a muggle. My mother is Ravenclaw."

Vala was right. The election ceremony had started and the student whose name was read was going towards the direction of the voter's hat and the hat was starting to speak.

When it was Vala's turn, she saw that her friend was having a hard time calming down. Ravenclaw was chosen, Vala. Pandora cheered

Hearing her name being called, he sat on the stool with a mixture of joy and excitement. As soon as the hat was placed on her head, he began to speak.

The hat was removed from her head and she walked towards the Ravenclaw table in both joy and surprise. In fact, she didn't know whether she should be happy or not.

She sat next to her friend Vala. They were in the same house now. She was very happy about it. She waited for Ava to arrive. I wonder where he will be chosen, she said to herself.

Ava listened to pandora as she asked more about the houses.

“I honestly don’t know. I only know this from a girl I met on a train. I wonder where she went…”

Ava craned her head to see if she could spot Charlie, to no avail. Maybe she was with other friends. Ava shrugged and went back to being with her current possible friends.
Valarie listened to them speak as the other kids came in. They seemed to have been some of the first in. When Valarie spoke up, she agreed that they could call her Val or Vala.

“Val it is, Val. I think Vala sounds like Veema. Don’t you think so Dora?”

Ava looked at Pandora to see if she thought so.

“I read about Veema in a book, but I cant remember if it was veema or dhapir that’s a vampire. Names are usually easy for me to remember. Maybe it’s because I read about it in a book?”

Pandora commented on her name. It meant moldy or tone of voice. Ava was surprised. She had never heard of this.

“Wow, that’s pretty cool, I didn’t know that! Does your name mean something?”

Ava looked imploringly at Pandora to see her response.
Valarie spoke up again on the topic of houses. Apparently she had a completely mixed family.

“So what house do you think you’ll be in? Clearly is could be any.”

Soon, it was time to start, which Valarie was quick to point out. Because Ava’s last name started with ‘W’, she would be close to last, or last. She payed attention to the first few sorts but quickly tuned it out. With how many names she was hearing, it would be impossible to remember any of them. Even though it was boring, she did her best to scribble down the names in a tiny notebook. The reason was unknown to her friends, and a secret to everyone. She stopped the mindless scribbling when it was Valarie’s turn. Ava watched contentedly as Valarie went. Val slowly crossed the room to the hat. The hat was placed on her head, and soon after the hat shouted one word. “RAVENCLAW!” Ava smiled. That would mean that Val’s family had one of each house. Even though Ava had barely known Valarie for an hour, Ava thought this house suited her well. Then Dora stepped up. It took a few seconds before a word was repeated. “RAVENCLAW!” After a few (or a lot) more people, it was finally Ava’s turn. Seeing that Val and Dora, and Charlie had been sorted into Ravenclaw, Ava hoped she would be too. She walked pretty quickly up to the hat, slipping her notebook into a robe pocket. Ava sat, and the hat was placed on her head. Interesting… quite interesting… I see many possibilities for you, but it best be…

“SLYTHERIN!”

Ava tried not to show her disappointment as she watched her friends faces as she walked to the slytherin table. Maybe they would have class together? Ava pouted.
