The imagery was magnificent: encircled by a black fog, splitting twin bolts of darkness towards two targets, Pericles had embraced his role in the game to its fullest. Yet Rodion was swept to safety, making his strike on the Bishop Kamila bittersweet. The strategist knew which of the two he would have *preferred* to strike. The lidded leer he sent towards the two encroaching on their team was indicator enough: Pericles wasn't about to let them slip away scot free.

One step at a time. Maybe he was rushing things, this wouldn’t be great for him or the team. From the outside looking in, perhaps people thought Koldovstoretz had the lamest, weakest team. They didn’t know how much they were trying just to be there, he was trying so hard at least. Kamila was moving too far, what was she thinking? From that angle, she couldn’t hit anyone. And why was he moving towards the enemy, making him the perfect target for the knight. He was losing his teammates, his sanity soon.

For the first time since the chess game had begun Kamila looked over to the other matches. It seemed that Drumstrang had already won against Beauxbatons. Well if Koldovstoretz lost at least they wouldn’t be the first. Mahoutokoro and Ilvermorny still seemed pretty close; it was hard to tell which school was ahead.

Nothing. More nothing.
And slowly, very slowly Opeila almost felt a little bored. Her initial panic seemed silly all of a sudden. She was ready to get back into fighting, but... couldn't now.

Instead she held her ground, prepared to jump at the chance to get back into the game. Patience.

The minute Bloom had tried to attack her opponent, they suddenly went out of range. Bloom bit her lip in missing another time. At least she got one hit in during the game, but she was hoping for more. Getting one made her feel a rush of adrenaline. Taking a deep breath in, she would keep her ears open for Howard's instructions who was nearby her, but still faraway. Unfortunately, it was Serena that was closest to her on the board.

Five down, three to go - honestly, this match was over. Koldovstoretz had lost all their strong attackers, and no matter how often Rodion and Maksim jumped back and forth, it was only a matter of time before they got caught. Their last remaining bishop was now on the other side of the field, where she was unable to heal, shield, or attack anyone.

Dee sighed, directing her gaze to the audience. In her opinion, Rodion should just give up, spare himself and his teammates the pain and humiliation of being hunted down like prey. She hadn't expected this much stubbornness from him.

T hey were dwindling down to practically nothing! One collective hit on their king and it might be all over, that wasn’t what Maksim wished to be known for! Clearly he had shown his abilities by still being one of the last people standing g, but that wasn’t enough! He wanted to me known as the person that kept his team going, even getting bumped out for doing just that!

So at the top of the next round Maksim took Rodion by the waist, leaning in to his ear, “happy flight!” Before hoisting the boy up and tossing him off to the side, and luckily out of harms way from a spell spray! Maksim let out a smirk before moving himself to a better position.

Alan looked around to see how his own team mates were doing and where they were located. Then he checked where he would find the other team as he tried to consider how to proceed in this situation, still waiting for a sign from Howard as well. What would they do next?

Prefacing this post with an apology. Due to another matter on site requiring my attention followed by ocular surgery preventing me from being able to read. I am able to do now with effort. That said, the delay was extensive and wholly my fault and responsibility.

King

@Dealla Prince, the Black King would make no action on the board. The perfectionist would rather watch her friends and allies take down Koldovstoretz. The battle was hard fought and ultimately won, but Rodion's team did not give up util the very end.

It was going to be a surprise attack from Rodion (@Aurora Ranvier). Maksim would lift the boy from the ground and trade spaces with the teen, likely knowing that this was going to be the end for him if not Rodion as well. It was a numbers game after all, how many would be left standing? They might be able to take someone down. Even if not, Rodion was going to go down fighting. A reckless barrage against @Bloom Silverton, the Hogwarts Knight as well as @Pericles Dralt, the dark Queen.

Kamila (@Marina Oriel) was not going to make another attack. She was perhaps saving her strength or preparing herself to carry off whatever might be left of her teammates when this match was over.

Rook

Maksim (@Monica Evans) was about to do two things with a single act. They were going to protect Rodion with their very existence. By lifting the teen and moving him aside, to the space he had once occupied. The likely safer space as Hogwarts focused on the champion. Also, he was giving Rodion perhaps unknowingly an opening to attack. To go down in a blaze of glory or at least prideful defiance.

@Howard White, the Hogwarts champion had the dullest role humanly possible -- do not die. He was doing this well enough, behind his line of stalwart defenders. He was not the sort of guy to normally sit on the sidelines, however winning was more important than the incredible violence he was capable of. Howard would grab Alan Vanes around the waist and lift him up. The agile boy was light enough in the dhampir's grip, so he easily moved the metamorphmagus to the side, allowing Alan an opening to take down Maksim (who would become Rodion).

@Bloom Silverton was prepared to take down Maksim, leaving Rodin vulnerable. However, an audacious action by Rodion to hit bac put the champion in reach of Bloom's slayer.

@Serena Towers, the shortest member of probably any team, packed a punch. Well, the armor-wear part goblin was probably going to profusely apologize after. She was going too go for the enemy champion, Rodion. He was almost out and if she made one solid hit it would be game over. Only, Maksim would take his place at the very last moment.

@Alan Vanes would find himself being touched by a man that was not @George Henry. The likely reason for their break-up. Howard the homewrecker had a terrible but true ring. From his new vantage point, Alan would be able to target Maksim (or rather Rodion once the swap took place). In the confusion, Rodion would be venturing into a firing squad.

That is until the movement phase. Pericles would march forward, their very glamorous dress as in the way as it was damn lovely. He would step on Nikolai's body, kicking it aside, the pureblood heir would find himself face to face with Rodion. This is bad... real bad. A dark miasma escaping beneath his hem, Rodion would choke on the noxious essence.

Howard's head spun as team Koldovstoretz continued to move about the board. Their Bishop took to one corner, while their remaining Rook ran to the other. What were they doing? What trick did they have up their sleeve to speed out like this. Howard would have to watch his back as he now felt pressure from the opposing team building around him. Yet as distracting and concerning as it may be, his crimson eyes would find their way back to the only target that really mattered. King Rodion stood before his team, ready to give it all. "Hogwarts! Attack!" Howard gave his command.
