It seemed that the Slytherins did not intend on letting up, attacking Lindsey with a series of blows. Hanako and Illowy executed a simultaneous, tag-team Flipendo against the Hufflepuff. It was a wonder that the girl was not knocked clean off her feet! Or perhaps it was not wonder, but by design, as Lindsey cast a Reparifors on herself to hold her over and push back against her looming injuries. The effects of the previous round's Cheering Charm seemed to have bolstered her spellcasting abilities... All the while, Autumn thought it wise to take a play out of the Slytherin's handbook, but her Flipendo never came; the spell refusing to be cast.OOC Info

Oh yea, like - thanks for the much needed reminder. As if the wind blowing against his whole body wasn’t enough to seal themselves in his memory. If the 5th year chose to observe her struggling partner, she’d be met with a short dirty look that could give her a good idea about what was going through his mind. Before he rolled his eyes away. What he lacked in evasion, could be compensated by a successful hit (tbh he was surprised himself) on their target, despite the wind. Clearly, praise was in order. A quick expectant look was given to his partner alongside a cheeky grin. ‘Come on, where’s my well deserved compliments?’
As if this wasn’t enough to fill up his ego, Autumn had the same idea as the slytherins. Only she failed even before his ability to evade was put to the test. And worst of all- Hanako managed to glimpse who her target was. Oh boy. It was as if the wind didn’t matter much anymore, for he grinned like he was the happiest boy alive. Autumn clearly (and most unfortunately ) been distracted by Hanako’s innate charm. Even if she tries to deny it so hard. Hanako wanted to remind her that she ought to focus on her partner if she finds Hanako too irresistible to even focus on her spellcasting. Fortunate for everyone, her - the wind was still in progress and doing their best to knock him off his feet. But the Hufflepuffs could take a few guesses as to why the boy looked to be in a far better mood than the previous round. How long could he stay in this giddy mood, though?

Slytherin vs. Hufflepuff, Match 1
Okay, she wasn’t feeling so good - having two Knockback jinxes directed to you while you were hopelessly trapped in a gust of wind wasn’t the best thing in the world, and especially when both spells hit. Lindsey felt the ache in her chest and managed to steal a breath, while giving herself a heal to ease the pain. She wasn’t sure what exactly had Autumn been doing when she got stuck in the Slytherins attacks and healed herself, but her partner seemed still - okay, it’s a little bit unfair to say that Autumn was still, because Lindsey thought she did attempt - only, there wasn’t any spell coming out from the tip of her wand. Lindsey didn’t feel like being sarcastic now however, she was far too weak to manage all the bickering. And they must rally now, whatever. The Slytherins were gaining the upper hand, which was the exact thing Lindsey did not want to see.

Illowy hadn't needed to pass a look at her partner after she'd said what she did. Call it a bit of payback from his comments earlier in the match. She could figure well enough without looking at him that he was staring daggers at her for her words; probably deserved but she wasn't sorry.
As her spell left her wand to collide with Springhall, there was a spark of pride. That spark was only fanned when Tone quickly met after her with the successful landing of his own spell against the girl, who looked much worse for the wear despite her pitiful attempts to keep on her feet. Obviously her words must've lit some kind of a fire under her partner's ass to land a spell so beautifully, and she definitely wouldn't be sorry for that. Though despite Tone's attempts to try to mentally will her to praise him for his good work, the most he'd see from her mid-duel was a hint of a smirk on her lips.
One should never be too quick to start celebrating a victory not yet won, lest one become overly cocky and thus, sloppy. She couldn't be sure of every trick the Puffballs might have up their pretty little sleeves. Regardless, her confidence in their prospect of victory was growing.

Oh. Okay. So that's how it was. Autumn may as well have been wearing a giant sign reading "incompetent failure". Though clearly the visual aid was unnecessary.
She watched as her (simple, easy, first year) spell fizzled and died without leaving her wand. It would have been terribly mortifying on its own, even if Autumn wasn't already digging her way into an insecure pit of self-hate and pity.
Before, she'd been happy that she hadn't gotten a scratch on her, while Lindsey was clearly being targeted. Now, she realised the true reason of the fact: she simply wasn't enough of a threat for their opponents to even try to hurt her.
And that was on her, wasn't it? She was the one proving them correct, one missed spell at a time. She was the one helping someone she hated because she knew that on her own, she had no chance. How sad.
She didn't know whether her sister was in the spectator's area, watching. She desperately hoped she wasn't. Naomi shouldn't see her like this, weak and useless and stupid. Neither should anybody else, for that matter. She suddenly became unsettlingly aware of the eyes on her, like pins and needles.
The realisation that this would be like any other of her duels sat heavy and painful in her stomach.health / 800/800

It was a moment of swings and misses for all involved int his particular duel, with not a single finding its mark. Hanako and Illowy, keen on knocking out Lindsey would find themselves no closer to such a goal as both of their spells went wide. Likewise, Lindsey's attempts to earn her team some reprieve from the older Slytherin and Autumn's attempts to quiet the rather chatty younger Slytherin failed all the same. Thor himself must have decided that the inaction by the duelists on the piste was unacceptable, as the raging storm cloud above the Slytherin team struck Illowy.OOC Info- The minimum WC for this duel is 50 words.- Hey all! It was such a joyful thing to dodge two spells in a row and survive yet another round, and even though her own spell missed its target, Lindsey felt worth it. Especially when she watched the raging storm she conjured prior struck Illowy, Lindsey knew that they still had a chance. Though she wasn’t feeling so well now - the ache in her chest made it quite difficult to breathe, and she had to focus to properly cast a spell. How long still could she survive? Could she last to the very end? Lindsey wasn’t sure. Maybe Autumn would be the one who’d bring glory to Hufflepuff. But…oh, she wasn’t so sure. She just hoped everything would go well. Please.

Would it seem weird if she laughed? Autumn felt like laughing.
Maybe in all her misery, in all her hopelessness, she had still thought she could land one hit before the Slytherins finished off Springhall and moved on to her. And Springhall was still here, which was fine, she supposed, which was good, but also who gave a damn about Springhall when their defeat was so inevitable?
Were congratulations in order for surviving another round when she was so clearly hanging on by a thread? Maybe if Lindsey were anybody else, Autumn would give a nod, or something that said "hey, good job, now keep dodging like that and maybe we'll gave a chance", but Lindsey wasn't and their situation was the way it was.
Thank Merlin for lightning, Autumn supposed. Storms had always been her favourite.health / 800/800

Quite a funny round, this one. At the very least, Autumn would received a dramatically impressed look from the boy. Like- wow! You actually managed to almost hit me! The mockery behind his expression was as clear as day. It was rich coming from someone who also didn't manage to hit his target, but he basked in the achievement that at least h e - never failed a spell so far. All that studying was finalllllyy paying off.
Though it seemed someone else had a more embarrassing round other than Autumn. His own partner, as if stage fright was suddenly a thing for her- has frozen not once, but twice. Why that happened so often was unknown to Hanako. Illowy was one of the last people he thought would freeze up.
A taunt was just at the tip of his tongue. Alas, he acknowledged the older year had done considerable contribution to their duel, and she was spared. He also reckon she wouldn't be in a good mood after freezing up and being hit by lightning. He'd rather not test the limit of her patience. Not yet at least.
