Breath, Relax
Hestia had had a long day of classes, and just needed some time to relax. So here she was, at the great lake. She glanced out at the view, and couldn’t help but think to herself how if she had been in Slytherin like she wanted to be she would be able to see under the great lake. She sighed softly, her brain continually thinking about the houses. “Why am I in Ravenclaw?” She asked herself. “I should probably be in Hufflepuff if I’m honest… I’m not bookish in the slightest. Or brave. Or cunning really.” This was the first time in Hestia’s life she had doubted herself. Her parents raised a very proud child, but now her parents weren’t here to help her out of this ditch she had dug for herself. It all started at the sorting ceremony. She was so sure she’d get into Slytherin, so excited about the new friends she would make. But then the at called out “Ravenclaw!” and her face fell.
Hestia shook her head to get those thoughts out of her head. She was suddenly determined again. “No, I’ve been put in Ravenclaw and I will be the best Ravenclaw Hogwarts has ever seen!” She took a deep breath and fell backwards into the grass, her messy hair spreading out perfectly around her head. She let out a sigh and folded her hands on her stomach, staring up at the sky. She breathed in, taking in the cool air that travelled over the lake. She relaxed, her eyes fluttering shut. Maybe she’d just take a nap here… That would be nice.

Kat had walked out of the Hogwarts castle and was making a trip to the Great Lake. While she could see under the lake from her common room, she liked to sit by the lake and stare at it, watching as the giant squid would sometimes go above the surface slightly or graze the top.
How much homework do we have? Asked the voice in Kats' head, causing her to frown.
I don't wanna think about that right now, ill do it later. She said to it, the male's voice huffed and went silent. She knew it was extremely abnormal and maybe even dangerous to have voices in your head, even in the wizarding world, which Kat understood and never spoke about the voice with anyone besides her mother who understood why it had developed but refused to tell though Kat figured it out on her own.
As Kat walked to the Great Lake she saw another student laying down on the lush green grass, her hands folded on her stomach as her red hair was spread around her causing Kat to tilt her head, knowing the girl couldn't see her since her eyes were closed and she was likely asleep. Kats black eye examined the girl while her right eye which was red that cycled between being a crimson shade to bright red that Kat despised since it made it easier for others to see her eye when it was at that stage.
She sat down on the grass a fair distance away from the girl, not wanting to get too close since she didn't know how she would react to someone else sitting next to her when she woke up. She wondered how long the girl had been laying there. A few minutes? Half an hour? A whole hour? Kat had come out to the lake an hour after the teacher had let them all go and was wanting answers to her questions. She moved towards the girl, poking her gently with her wand "Wake up sleeping beauty," She said, her voice slightly dull yet still had that childish charm to it.

Her eyes glittered with peculiar amazement, steps slowing down to appreciate the large spread of water with a ghost of a smile tugging at her lips. Cory had seen many lakes in her time; she had watched the sun set over the sea but that wasn't what gave her this feeling of pleasant surprise. No. It wasn't that, it was simply how peaceful it all seemed. How something so gentle and serene could be found amidst the stress and chaos she had felt in the few weeks she had settled down at Hogwarts. Whether she was slightly over exaggerating would be drowned in mystery as she crept closer to the lake. It seemed to beckon her, the promise of peace and privacy being one she wouldn't give up for anything at this moment.
Wait.
She tensed. Two figures were already situated quite comfortably by the water's edge and her hopes melted into nonexistence. She was already here, no point in turning back now. As quietly as she could, Cory made her way closer to the water, keeping a reasonable distance between the two as she chose her spot. Now what? She stole a few glances at the two girls, hardly getting a good look at their faces at the flurry to hide her eyes from view. Don't want them to know I'm staring.

Hestia's eyes snapped open when she felt a poke and heard a voice. She looked up at the girl that was now sitting next to her. How had she not heard the other's footsteps in the grass? Had she really fallen asleep that quickly? She sat up and looked at the other girl with a slightly confused face. "Hello..." she whispered, unsure of why the other had approached her. She glanced around to see if there were any others she hadn't noticed and caught sight of a second girl glancing over at them. She decided to wave at the girl and smile a little, again not sure why she was here. The two were probably just here to relax, like Hestia was. She turned her attention back to the girl sitting next to her. She tried to think of something to say without sounding rude. "Um... did you need something?" She asked, tilting her head, her hair, which was usually messy but was now much messier due to lying in the grass, falling to one side. "If it's homework help I'm afraid I won't of much use." She said, a small frown pulling at her lips. She opened her mouth to say something else, but decided to not barrage this stranger with her usual babbling.

Kats' hair was swept over her red eye, her black one was staring at the girl, though dull, it showed her curiosity. She shook her head gently "No, you fell asleep I'm guessing. Its been about an hour since classes ended, why aren't you studying or something? Isn't that what most students do?" she asked before realising that it could be misinterpreted as being rude "Sorry if that came off as rude but a lot of students are trying to study or playing... Whatever it is that normal people play." She smiled "And homework isn't gonna be an issue. I don't need the help." With that, she stuck her hand out towards the girl, staring lazily at the girl's hair, "I'm Kat Leeway, Slytherin." She added, looking back at the girls face before glancing at the other girl, flashing a small, unimpressive smile towards her before looking back at the girl whose name she did not yet know yet was hoping to find out soon.
I'm craving pumpkin.
You're only saying that 'cause her hair is red.
And it reminds me of pumpkin pie. I want some.
Shut up, I wanna hear what her name is when she tells us. She snapped, giving the girl her undivided attention.

Hestia tentatively took Kat’s hand and shook it. “Hestia White. Uh.. Ravenclaw.” She replied, firmly shaking the girl’s hand. “Like uh… Like the greek goddess, y’know? Hestia.” She liked slipping that in every time she told someone her name, as she was rather proud of it. She also thought that was a clever way to remember it. She tilted her head slightly and pulled her hand back to her side, leaning on it so she was in a more relaxed position.
“I… You’re probably right. I should be studying. Or doing homework or something. Not very Ravenclaw-like to not be studying...” Hestia glanced downwards, a small frown on her face. She furrowed her eyebrows and glanced around. “There’s no saying I can’t do it out here though.” She said, a bit happier this time. She pulled out some homework from her charms class from earlier. She had so far proven to be not very good in magic heavy classes like charms and transfiguration, probably since her parents hadn’t taught her too much when it came to magic. She flipped through one of her notebooks until she landed on her notes from class today and glanced up at Kat. “We can study together if you want. I’m no good at magic at the moment, but other things I can do fairly well! What do you say, study buddies?” She then glanced at the third girl that was sitting a short distance away and called out to her. “You can join us too if you want!”

"Hestia," Kat repeated, nodding her head slightly. "That's very Ravenclaw-like, to carry your work with you everywhere." She chuckled, her hand still wrapped around her wand from when she poked the woman awake "I don't have mine and I'm not going back down into the dungeons to get it. There was that one spell..." She mumbled to herself, smiling "How about a lesson in charms?" She asked sarcastically yet the smile on her face said how she wasn't completely joking as she spun her wand in her hand, a small smirk playing on her lips.
What was the spell again?
It started with an A... I don't remember.
Acia... No... Accio! That's it.
Right!
Kat shook her head, looking over at the other girl that was sitting alone before turning back to the girl in front of her "My mum had taught me a spell... well she taught me how to say the spell." She stood up, twirling her wand in her fingers before saying the spell, knowing that it was likely not going to work completely as she would like but it wouldn't completely backfire. "Accio homework," She said, waiting a second before her homework landed a few feet from her feet and she walked over to it, picking it up since it had scattered slightly and she needed it anyway.

She smiled when the other girl said it was Ravenclaw-like to be carrying her homework. As much as her parents had raised her to be proud, she couldn't help but sit uncomfortably at the Ravenclaw table. "Wow!" Hestia brightened up at the spell. It always amazed her when other people could do magic correctly, even though her father had been doing little tricks for her her entire life. "That was really good!" She smiled, clapping her hands a bit. "I still can't even get Wingardium Leviosa to work right..." She frowned at herself but quickly shook the thought away.
"So what have you got to work on? I need to do this charms worksheet the professor handed out. Really boring if I'm honest." She said with a laugh, turning to the papers in her lap. She fished through her bag and pulled out a quill, the feather ruffled from sitting in her pocket and underneath things in her bag. She frowned at it for a second, then got to work, leaning back and filling out the worksheet she had been given. "Hey do you remember what Alo-ho-mo-ra does?" Hestia sounded the word out, just slightly pronouncing the charm wrong. "No wait.... Alo-ha-mo-ra?" she tried again, glancing up at Kat for reassurance that she was indeed pronouncing it right.

Kat grabbed the quill and ink that was sitting next to her work before sitting down next to the Ravenclaw "Yea, that's how you pronounce it, and Alohomora is the thief's friend, it opens locks... I've used it to get into the cupboard where they hold the broomsticks with James," She said nonchalantly, looking down at her homework "I have to do a history of magic homework... do you know who was the Gyriffindor that founded Hogwarts with all the others?" She asked, looking down at her papers. She was fairly good at charms and potions, and with potions came herbology even if it wasn't her best subject, but she failed miserably when it came to history, muggle schools and obviously even with wizard history. She glanced at the girl, dipping her quill into her ink as she filled in the few things that she did know on the paper, her eyebrows pulled together as she focused, having the worst memory when it came to trivial things that she didn't enjoy and she hated history so to say that she was clueless wouldn't be too far of a stretch from the truth.
Would we get points for just putting his last name?
I don't think so... I don't even remember his last name.

"Oh that one's Godric Gryffindor! I read that in Hogwarts, a History. I'm better at memorizing things than I am at actually casting spells." She said proudly. "And the others are Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff." Hestia seemed very proud of herself for knowing this information. As she said, where she failed in her magic heavy classes, she excelled in her classes like Herbology and History of Magic and Astronomy. She nodded and worked on her own homework, slowly filling out the worksheet on her lap. She pushed some hair that fell into her face behind her ear, then ran her fingers through the red mess she called her hair. If her mother were here she would surely be scolding Hestia for having it so unkempt. But, her mother wasn't here, and the consequences of not brushing her hair every day would be something Hestia would have to learn on her own.
"So... what's your family like? Are your parents both wizards too? I don't mean to be rude or pry or anything, I'm just curious is all. My dad's a wizard, mum's a muggle. Even though dad's a proud wizard, I haven't seen much magic in my life. Mum insisted on a muggle upbringing. But dad showed me a couple tricks here and there. I always found it fascinating, magic. I am really excited to learn more about it!" Hestia spoke rather quickly, growing a bit more comfortable around Kat.
