Exploring the Corridors...
Ben was about to scream, but he stopped himself. He was about to scold himself for having the urge to scream, but he stopped himself. "Anybody would be terrified if a staircase moves when you are not expecting it for the first time, even if they knew it would..." He looked at the walls. All the portraits were coming to life. Some were crying, some were crying, and some were even dancing. He decided to turn these moving staircases into a game. He hopped on a staircase which moved to the right just after he hopped onto the staircase. He saw a few students moving around, minding their own business. A few ghosts were moving around. Ben made a mental note not to jump 3 feet into the air when a portrait or ghost speaks to him. Even though he is a wizard-born and knew these things existed, he was a bit over-sensitive (or he over-reacts, according to his brother,) to sudden sounds. He spotted another staircase which just stopped moving and jumped, trying to land on the staircase. That staircase moved to the left suddenly. He marvelled at the staircase another time. "I wonder what magic they use," Ben wondered as a thought interrupted his thinking. "If that staircase is moving, then, I do not have a place to land!" He frantically searched for another staircase to land on as he wen down. Time seemed to slow down. "Am I going to die?" He asked himself. That's when it hit him. A staircase from the right. On the right side of his stomach. He flew towards his left and fell on a staircase that was not moving. He lay on the ground and just appreciated the fact that he was on something solid. His stomach was aching a bit, but not that much. And his backside too. He got up. "Just hope no one saw that," He thought. But if anyone did, that he or she could be a future friend. But that would be unlikely as he had forgotten to scream.

Checking up on @Benjamin Detmerr
Clumsiness was something that Simon never had to really worry about. Maybe it was because he had played sports since about the age of four and therefore had good coordination and spacial reasoning. Maybe it was because he was a dhampir and had that dhampir quick reflexes. Maybe it was luck. Perhaps it was a combination of all of the above.
Still he was far enough down the corridor and distracted by searching the space for a friend that he didn't notice the staircase coming for the boy until the boy was hit and collided down to the ground. That movement was what caught his attention and therefore he couldn't stop it from happening - but he could offer his help now that it had.
"Oy, mate!" he said as he quickened his pace to weave in and out of some other Hogwarts students. "Are you alright?" he reached him just as the Ravenclaw was getting up. "These staircases can be brutal. There's been a time or two that I've been stuck on them. Doesn't happen often, but now and again they'll just freeze as if there's no where to go, but they don't connect on their one side and they don't connect to the other so you're just up there, suspended in air, and at their mercy. I've never known one to attack a student before. You're the first for that," he was trying to be playful and lighthearted, to lighten the mood and be friendly. "Congratulations!" He flashed a smile.

Ben's head was spinning. What just happened? Did he just fall from a staircase? He touched his stomach. "Ouch..." He looked up. A boy who was very well a head taller than him was looking at him with concerned eyes and a flashy smile. "Do not blame the staircases, I was the one who was trying to jump from one moving corridor to the other. I am never gonna try that again. So, I am the first one that got hit by a staircase? Wow! Thanks for coming to my aid. I thought no one was going to notice me falling as I forgot to scream. " The boy in front of him had brown hair. His brown eyes twinkled, indicating that he was an easy-going person. He hoped the boy wasn't going to drag him to the nurse. The nurse will be mad at him if she found out how he got hit by a staircase. "Who are you, by the way? I'm Ben. I was just bored and decided to play a game with these corridors. " He wasn't worried about talking too much or blabbering as he just fell a..."How many feet did I fall, by the way?" That question was important. If he fell only a couple of feet, then it's not a miracle that only his stomach was aching. If he fell 100 feet, then he must have some kind of superpower.

Introductions with @Benjamin Detmerr
"First that I know of, anyway. One never quite knows what this school is capable of," he said, still slightly concerned for the boy as he did express an 'ouch' still. "I swear some of the rooms shift somehow...." he wasn't quite sure how to explain that, sort of - change size and shape. If he were to use his British Boy Scout senses and attempt to make a map of the school he wasn't sure that would be possible. This was especially true when it came to the broom closets. And then there was also the room that could appear at will if one knew the right way in which to open it....
"Pleasure to meet you, Ben," he said as he extended out a hand to shake for a proper greeting. "I'm Simon, Simon Kincaid. Third year Hufflepuff." Of course he was a Hufflepuff. That wasn't really needed in his statement, as he was wearing his Hufflepuff tie and cloak. Even his Hufflepuff prefect pin was in sight.
If Ben should shake his hand, he might realize the slightly coldness that Simon always exhibited, perhaps due to his dhampir nature. "Wish we met under better circumstances though. Need me to take a look at it? I'm part of the healing internship."

"Pleasure to meet you Simon. You can take a look, but no going to the nurse, I am pretty sure she will scold me for sure." Ben looked at Simon and decided to analyse his behaviour. He still hasn't offered to give a handshake as all good-mannered teens usually do. That means he is hiding something. He was smiling all through the conversation because he wanted to lighten the mood. Conclusion: he is a big brother kind of person who is hiding something. He decided to continue as he wanted. After all, he did not care about his deduction. They were not useful most of the time. "So, where were you going? I definitely do not have anything at the moment, so can I walk with you? You are literally the first person who is friendly to me after I got into Hogwarts. I came here, like, a few hours before." He wanted to know how life is at Hogwarts. How people live together in a school of magic. And this is the perfect chance. A person who has lived at Hogwarts for 3 years can tell something. He can also show something too...But he stopped himself before he can ask. He can ask those questions afterwards. He felt his stomach. It was still paining a bit. But some weird reason, that pain felt...nice. That's when a question popped in his mind."What do you guys learn in the healing internship?"

Ready to walk wherever @Benjamin Detmerr wants to go
"Oh, just trying to meet up with some friends," Simon replied. He wanted to hear all about their Summers and was looking forward to seeing them after being away from most of them all Summer. He hadn't seen any of them, with the exception of Clair Fernandez and AngelFyre McCubbin. Still, meeting up with friends also included getting to know new friends as well so this wasn't a bother in the slightest. He was glad he met Ben.
"First year, yea...buckle up, it'll be a ride," Simon said with a laugh. At least he had thought so. Everything about magic and Hogwarts was just so grand and he loved it. He came without knowing any of it, but it was his thoughts that even if someone was halfblood or pureblooded, that Hogwarts would still offer them quite the adventure.
"But hey, you needn't worry about Nurse Frogge," Simon said, defending the disposition of their school nurse. "He's cool. I mean, not cool cool but cool in the sense that you wouldn't be scolded. Trust me, students do far worse. This place can be a right mess at times." Especially when it came to sports. Or school dances. Oh, Ben was in for a ride.
"Tell me what you like and we'll head there. The Courtyard, the Grounds, the Lake, the Library." He would have already seen the Great Hall. "We will stay clear of the Hospital Wing but, trust me, no reason to worry about it there. The healing intersnhip? Oh, we learn some of the basic spells so that we can help out Frogge and the elves with some of the stuff - not the major stuff, of course. Bandaging and that sort of thing. I dunno, I went to this medical museum over Summer break and the whole world of it - magical or not - is pretty fascinating." Medicine had become an interest to Simon.
"Congratulations on Ravenclaw, by the way," he said with another encouraging smile. "Think it was the right house for you to be sorted into?"

"Ravenclaw is a pretty good house. I think the sorting hat knew what it was doing, as I am a person who loves reading. My father works at the Daily Prophet, so I read the newspaper a lot." Ben was starting to enjoy Simon's company. "The reason I do not want to go to the hospital wing is that the nurse can scold me for playing around with the staircases even though I knew those things are unpredictable. But Nurse Frogge seems like a guy who understands a kid's curiosity. You can take me to a place that is always teeming with people. I want to meet as many people as possible today." Ben smiled, remembering a time when his brother teased him about how he always wants to meet new people. Ben loved meeting new people and learning about them. He didn't know why he does, and he doesn't mind. The only drawback is, he tends to get overexcited sometimes. Some people appreciate it, but some don't.
" I prefer learning on what is there in the sky rather than what is inside our bodies and how to fix it. It's not like I hate the subject, I just prefer astronomy rather than any other subject. You are in Hufflepuff. Do you think the Sorting Hat did the right choice?

I have a crazy I dea that we can both try out and I want to see how this will turn out. Basically, you act as a guide for me, a student who is new to the school. You take me to a place and call students from all years and introduce me to them. Sound good?

Walking with @Benjamin Detmerr and meeting up with @Ayuna Baudelaire
With it being the first of the school year, Simon had his eye out for some people in particular. There was, first and foremost, his girlfriend, AngelFyre McCubbin. She ran off a bit ago to do something 'real quick' and he knew that she'd find him soon enough. She was a fellow Hufflepuff, but one year behind him.
He also kept his eye out for some Ravenclaws. There was Second Year Clair Fernandez who was his best friend and fellow Third Year Samantha Salwis.
He also kept a look out for Bailey Glade or Della Barfield and even perhaps Haley Rose.
"Ah, Astronomy is quite fascinating. I've been to a good many shows at the Royal Observatory," which was located in London. "I think, if I lived out far enough, I would have really enjoyed the stars. I like hearing about the mythological stories behind the celestial objects. It's fun to think that our ancestors, when they didn't have the countless numbers of hobbies that we can do, could still find a way to playfully pass the time," he said and smiled.
Simon was glad that Ben seemed to think Ravenclaw was a good choice for him. Ravenclaw was a great house to be in and he should be proud. Some of the best people that Simon knew were Ravenclaws. "Oh yea, I think the Sorting Hat did a perfect job with my sorting. I feel that Hufflepuff and I align quite well. My mum, she went here to Hogwarts. She was a Gryffindor."
And just then Simon spotted another student wearing Ravenclaw colors and in not recognizing her, concluded that she too was probably a first year like Ben. She was looking around and he wasn't sure if she was lost or just wishing she had someone to connect to. "Student of Ravenclaw, hello!" he said and smiled kindly to the girl. "Unofficial Tour Guide, Simon Kincaid. Third Year Hufflepuff Prefect at your duty, m'lady. Might I interest you to join us on our voyage through the corridors with Sir Benjamin Detmerr, a fellow Ravenclaw of yours, and myself?"

interacting with: @Simon Kincaid @Benjamin DetmerrAyuna had never been this surprised in her whole life. Hogwarts proved to be a place filled with magic and occasionally, surprises. Okay, not occasionally, every time the girl saw something new, she will either be surprised, or very surprised.
This was probably the case now, Ayuna thought. She had just came back from the courtyard and was going to travel up to a random place when a ghost spoke to her and made her jump three feet into the air. And if that wasn't enough, painting hung on the wall frequently talked and moved, the girl had never seen these things before. And if that was the most frightening thing of all, the staircase she was standing on creaked suddenly and moved away from the platform and to somewhere else. Talk about frightening!
When the staircase finally stopped, the girl walked up and looked around, confused. Where was she? Suddenly, a voice interrupted her thoughts. Surprised yet again, Ayuna jumped and turned around. A boy who was supposedly older than her smiled kindly, "Student of Ravenclaw, hello!" he said.
The girl giggled shyly, Simon was quite handsome and if she may say so, like a prince. "Sure!" she said and tried to keep a straight face, "I'd love to! My name is Ayuna, Ayuna Baudelaire and you can just call me Yuri." Turning to the boy beside him, apparently called Benjamin, she said, "Hi Benjamin! Nice to meet you."

"Hey Yuri, " Ben waved his hand. "Welcome aboard on this unofficial tour with Simon Kinnari as your unofficial host and tour guide. " He turned to Simon. "By the way, that introduction was too formal. And funny."
It was funny, actually. He had to try hard not to laugh when Simon referred to him as 'Sir Benjamin Detmerr', which, for some reason, sounded like royalty. He just now realised that he'd never thought somebody else would actually join the tour. Not that he didn't like it, he absolutely loved the idea. He looked at the girl. She had dark hair and eyebrows, confusion and gladness clearly visible on her face. When she liked at Simon, though, it was obvious, at least to him, that she was trying not to giggle. He could relate. So now, they were three people on this tour. Perfect. For some reason, a trio always seemed...perfect. 2 boys and 1 girl, or 2 girls and 1 boy, each having different traits, just seemed perfect. But that was not year applicable in his case as he just met no getting his hopes up.
''What is our first stop, Simon?'' Ben looked at the moving staircases and touched his stomach. Was he imagining it, or did his stomach swell a bit? ''But if you say we have to take the staircases again, I am going to run the opposite way, really fast.'' He looked towards Yuri. ''Watch where you go, Yuri, those things can kill. And I know that because of experience.''
