Mika grew up in a tiny little village near London.
The house he grew up in was a modest, upper-class home of two stories. Some of the shudders that lined the window had traces of golden patterns, worn away due to weather. A tiny fountain stood next to the porch, a round bird spilling crystal clean water out its mouth into the basin below.
Growing up, Mika had a love for quidditch. Seeing birds flying against the blue sky like shooting stars gave birth to an urge to become a seeker. He learned to ride a toy broom at the same age he learned to walk and he spent his days flying, chasing (but not catching, as that was illegal) the local birds. He did this alone, however. He is very quiet and actively avoids making friends.
Although his interest in Quidditch brought him outdoors, during the times he was too tired, grounded, or of bad weather, he would be inside reading a book, whether it be magical or, in rare cases, muggle.
Don't be tricked by his quiet and calm demeanor, however, because that's how he tricks you. When he isn't reading or riding a broom, Mika plays jokes and pranks on his family (mostly his siblings). Rarely is he ever caught. Why would quiet, well-mannered Mika play such childish pranks?
It was no wonder he was sorted into Slytherin, his plans and foresight make him the most cunning of his family.
Both of his parents work for Gringotts. His father, Marcus Xerphonius (Gryffindor), works as a security wizard, protecting high-value vaults from thieves. His mother, Maria Xerphonius (Ravenclaw), works as a Curse-Breaker. Most of the time, it would just be his father, siblings, and him since the job of Curse-Breaker entails travel, making it hard to spend quality time with his mother. Letters are always sent and received, however, and when Mika was little, he knew his mother's handwriting more than he knew her face.
He has two older siblings, fraternal twins named Robin and Jamie.
Robin was a Gryffindor and valued bravery above all else. This makes him a perfect candidate for jokes and pranks in Mika's opinion. He is always serious and follows rules to a T. The frustration that Robin emits when Mika's mischievous plans go as they should fuel the fire and make it even more entertaining. He graduated the year before Mika started at Hogwarts and is training to be an Auror.
Jamie was also a Gryffindor but more lacking in seriousness and rule-following. She is kind and often joins in on Mika when he is planning something. Mika enjoys her company more than the others and will share problems with her for guidance. Her empathetic aura and kind nature made her choose to train to be a Healer. Her choice was highly influenced by their Godmother, Rosemary, who is a full-time Healer and taught Jamie some healing spells in her 7th year. Jamie graduated at the same time as Robin.
Rosemary is Mika's mother's best friend from when they went to Hogwarts. She is a muggle-born and they became close during the 2nd Wizarding War when muggle-borns were practically being hunted by death eaters. She never had kids and lives in London near Mika's current residence. Just like his mother, Mika never really sees her because of her job.
A year before Mika started Hogwarts, his family moved from the small town to a wizarding community in London. Mika wished they could go back. There, he could fly on his broom whenever he wanted. Now, flying was limited.
The neighborhood kids tried and failed to make friends with him, eventually calling him "weird" and leaving him alone. Mika was thankful they stopped trying.
He doesn't have social anxiety nor is he shy. He simply dislikes talking with people and prefers to be alone. The only joy he could get from others is messing with them either with pranks or by intensely staring at them until they go away (he thinks the look on their face is priceless).
His Hogwarts letter arrived via owl at the London flat on July 4th, 2022. His father collected the post and gave it to him, calling in his siblings for him to read it. His mother was away at the time, but a letter that arrived a day later congratulate him and included a pumpkin pasty, Mika's favorite.
This letter was expected. His first instance of accidental magic was when he was 4. He was playing on a toy broom outside. It was during the rare times his mother got to spend time with him and she was watching him in the back garden. It was winter at the time, so as he took off and landed, the frost on the yellowed grass crunched under his feet. He started being reckless, falling and not caring about hurting himself. His mother saw this and took away the broom saying that if he can't be careful with it, he can't play. Mika got angry at her, throwing a tantrum and stomping his foot. Instead of the usual crunch of the dead lawn, however, the frost instead instantly melted in a 3-foot (about a meter) radius around him. Forgetting her anger, his mother celebrated and hugged him, always claiming that she was unbelievably glad she was there to witness his first magic since she had missed his first words and steps.
Mika is about 4'10" (147 cm) and is thin, but healthy. He has light brown/olive skin and chocolate brown eyes. His hair is black and curly, constantly falling into his eyes as he reads. His father always had trouble styling it not only because of the unruly curls but the consistency of how much Mika is on a broom. It has always been and always will be unmanageable. His face is constantly in a neutral expression, only smiling when someone falls for his tricks or finds a book he enjoys. Part of why he is so unsettling when he is starting at you is that his resting expression looks unfriendly, deterring people from approaching him (older kids and adults aren't so affected).
