Another turn, and another time that Dee did... well, it came down to nothing. A glorified Nothing, to be fair, as there was still purple fog rolling off of her and dancing around her allies, but keeping up the Aura did not require much focus. She sighed, feeling the strong urge to inspect her fingernails to demonstrate her boredom. This was hardly a challenge, in truth, her allies did not really need her support. The Koldovstoretz team was a group of children, more so now that Irina was out, which even deprived her of the opportunity to taunt the girl further.

It was time this came to an end.

Howard's prompt was answered with a terse nod. Raising his scepter, Pericles' Rebuke manifested, a dark fog which proved noxious to any enemy unfortunate enough to enter it. The mist swirled and built beneath his combat boots, spilling out from the hem of his dress like a diffuser from hell. The princely Queen piece started to stride forward, into the fray, a leer of cold calculation set on his nearest opponent.

Alan had not managed to do much this round, but he wasn't upset by his failure during this round, somewhat used to his ideas backfiring on him regularly when duelling as well. Luckily it hadn't been a Flipendo or something very damaging so he would remain standing, facing their opponent as if awaiting their next move, while also waiting for a signal from Howard. Though George was watching this time, so it was slightly more embarrassing perhaps after all.

No, actually, that was a big lie, everything was happening, but all around her. It felt like she was in a calm spot, no one was paying attention to her, nor anyone in reach for her to hit.
Opeila was fine now. She was prepared. And now there was no one she could fight?

It always seemed to be the case during their play: she was either missing their opponent or nothing seemed to happen at all. Bloom was, by far, just up there to look pretty. If that was the case, at least there was something going for her. Although often looking ahead, she did look behind her to see where Howard was. Long and behold, it was Serena who was directly behind her. Yup. That was not what she wanted to see. She wanted to see her Damphir and instead, Serena was in the way. Bloom turned back around, ignoring her presence. She did want to become friends again, but after their conversation during the Fall Ball, it seemed that it would always be unlikely so.

Kamila just hoped that the remaining Koldovstoretz team members could beat the odds and win. It was not impossible. Well, it might actually be impossible, but Kamila didn’t want to believe that.

It was more than clear if Koldovstoretz had any chance of winning in the future tasks, they would need to seriously up their game. Perhaps there would have to be more strategy work after this, because Maksim would not be made the fool of again! It was one thing to loose to a worthy competitor, it was another matter entirely to loose to inferior players, and he was humiliated to be loosing as badly as they were. He gazed up at the onlookers, praying that Monet wasn't here to see such utter failure. Still the game wasn't over yet... And Maksim was never known to be a quitter. His next move, he came next to his king, tossing him with great strength and will, hopefully saving him for any attack, before making some advancement on the board. If these brits wanted victory, they would have to snatch it from Maksim's knocked out body!

Rodion (@Aurora Ranvier) was still standing. Most of his team had already went down. Only Kamila and Maksim remained. Fyodor would lift Rodion and toss him aside. By moving him aside, perhaps he would buy himself more time. His aura that would bolster friend and foe alike would end.

@Dealla Prince was bolstering the violent potential of her allies. There was little else to do at this very moment unless she wanted to take an audacious risk that might cost the girl her health and pride in front of thousands of spectators. So she did nothing.

Rooks

Toss Aside: exchanges places with an adjacent piece. Cannot be done on the diagonal. This involves a contested strength check and on success the Castle exchanges places with another piece. No contested strength is necessary of the piece is allies/wiling. This is done on the action phase which is before the movement phase which means that a statement movement action by an opponent might be impossible (and therefore lost), however the piece will attempt to move the same spaces in the same direction as previously declared.

Rooks were rare at this point, chariot driven defenders Percival and Oksana were both unconscious. Maksim Levin (@Monica Evans) was waning in strength. With the last of his, he would place his hands around Rodion's waist and lift the boy in the air. A far cry from figure skating, the rushed move was far from romanticized as he faked whatever would have come for Rodion head-on.

@Howard White, the Hogwarts champion was standing on the backlines as the rest of his team stood on the forefront. Their line of defense was still intact and from the relative safety of the backlines he would watch the scenario play out. He was going to miss out on the excitement but savor the glory if they took home the win.

Bishop

@Alan Vanes was still standing, it would take a lot to take the teen down. Opeila, on the other hand, was almost downed. A good hit and they might take the girl out if he did not intervene. So he would say a little prayer or magical platitude and bestow healing on his teammate.

Opeila would be bolstered by the Bishop Alan Vanes. With his help she would survive the onslaught.

@Serena Towers was stuck next to eww... Bloom, the man-stealer. Could she deny her teammate healing out of spite? Yes, probably. It would be a bad look on her, but she would be able to.

Who was anyone kidding, her writer's version of vengeance is not sending a handwritten holiday card to her enemies, she would do store-bought instead. She would mutter a few healing words and renew her teammate.

@Bloom Silverton prepared herself to cast Eagle Eye on Rodin and end this match. However, Rodion was saved by Maksim who had swapped positions with the champion. Rodion was out of range.

@Opeila Winters also prepared herself to cast Eagle Eye if anyone came into range. None did. So she would remain there unmoving, out of range of any healing and/or King Dee's powerful regal aura.

Queen @Pericles Dralt, was probably going to end this for another Koldovstoretz student. His plan was to take down Kamila and spread to Rodion, but Maksim had moved him out of harm's way. it would have been an incredible moment, earning the pride sons spend a lifetime seeking, only to have it torn away at the last moment.

She would take a full hit and the crowd would expect her to crumble. Kamila would not kneel, she would not fall. the crowd would go wild, but the room would spin for the girl. It hurt, she really felt that.

A terrible darkness would start to roll off the Ravenclaw youth as he made it dangerous for the opposition to cluster together. He would make his move and if he encroached upon their safe space, there was a real chance that this war would be won by attrition alone.

In a sick twist of fate, Serena found herself moving to the position right behind Bloom's back. She stood, quite literally protecting the back of the girl who had - metaphorically - stabbed her own back. She should not be angry about it. She should have forgiven her by now, she knew this. But it was so much easier to say get over the heartbreak of being backstabbed by her friend than to truly manage to forgive and forget.

Serena stared at her back. She was not going to stab her in the same way she had been stabbed but boy, oh boy, did she wish she had the guts to. Or perhaps it was not a lack of guts. Who knew what she lacked? The ability to be truly vengeful? The heart to seek out revenge? Care for a former friend - deep deep down, even if she did not want to admit it? Who knew? Not her.

But she told herself it was not worth it. Sure, she could not heal Bloom. Sure, she could even cast a spell to hurt her instead and harm her physically as she hurt her emotionally. But this tournament was not about the two of them. It was bigger than their rivalry. There were far more important things in the world right now. She rationed that was the only reason she did not hurt Bloom back.

With that, she quietly healed Bloom as she fought the inner conflict in her heart.

Howard kept his crimson eyes locked on the White Knight. For the entirety of the match she had been maiming his teammates. Percival had even been wiped from the board because of her, but now she was weakened and with a shout he gave his command. "Peri! Wipe her out!" The dark blast from his scepter would see the end of Irina.

That left three. Kamila would swing around to the far end of the board. A distraction? Circling around for a lethal blow? As much as Howard wanted to see what she was doing, it would be Rodion and Maksim that would catch his steely gaze. Could team Hogwarts finally end this match. It seemed almost too good to be true. Koldovstoretz had put up quite the fight and what Howard had thought would be a push over had dragged out into a long and bloody battle. If this were to be the end, one thing was for sure, he had a newfound respect for them all.
