A Spider-y Fright
Midas walked down the dim, dark, streets of London, having gone shopping for Muggle clothing and items. He was getting bored of all the walking, as he had been for quite some time now. He looked around and made sure there wasn't anyone around, and he cut into an alleyway. "This should be a shortcut!" he thought as he walked into the alleyway. He was tired and wasn't in the mood for walking that much. "Jeez! This had to end up being shorter!" It was a rather dark alleyway and seemed like it would make sense for a mugging.
Midas wasn't worried about a human threat, however. He was much more worried about creatures that were in the dark. There could be bats... or even worse, spiders! He walked further into the alleyway when he came across a fence. He looked through it, and saw lights flashing - presumably the road. "This really is a shortcut! I'll be out of here in no time!"
He began trying to climb the fence. It was a rather tall fence, around 8 feet tall, much taller than Midas. He put one foot on a nearby dumpster and hoisted himself up by grabbing the top of the fence. Thankfully, there was no barbed wire at the top, keeping Midas's hands intact. He began climbing the fence when he saw something move near his face. He instinctively jumped back - only he was climbing something. Midas crashed into the ground with a groan. He looked up, and saw a rather small spider - the size of a teacup saucer or so - but it scared him nonetheless. He began screaming out loud when he saw the spider.

A Spider-y Fright
Nighttime was obviously the ideal time to be wandering around the streets of urban London. Sleep insomnia, however, seemed to be kicking her harder than ever during the hot, humid nights of August, basically screaming for her to get out of her room. As always. Seriously, it was really becoming quite the problem.
Skateboard rolling against the gravel and wholly unnecessary face mask on, Ami sped down the street, zigzagging between the two sides. Maybe the mall would still be open? She was itching to get another piercing on her ears, and doing so at night would help her avoid the judgment of her mother.
Her ride to the mall was rudely interrupted, however, by a piercing shriek, shrill against the silence of the night. Hopping off of her skateboard and coming to a walking stop, the redhead decided that the sound was coming from behind that fence. Tossing her skateboard over the fence first rather carelessly, the wiry youth hauled her stick body over the obstacle with the air and ease of someone who had done so many, many times before, in another life.
The sight that greeted her wasn't exactly the most impressive- just a scrawny kid lying on his back like a turtle, screaming his head off at nothing. "Hey, kid, quit it," she grumbled, and when he didn't, she walked over, prodding at his stomach with her toe. "Shut up."
The blond just wouldn't stop shrieking. It was like he was in a constant state of terror. "Hey, just shut it, would you?"Ami snapped, the noise really beginning to bug her now. Before she could think too much about it, she crouched down, lifting his head up and putting a hand over his mouth to muffle the noise. Not two seconds had passed, however, before Ami gasped from shock, dropping his head back against the hard concrete ground.
"Midas?" she laughed, in complete disbelief. "Ravenclaw, right? What are you doing?"

A Spider-y Fright
As he lay there screaming his head off, Midas thought about the spider. Was it larger than he thought? Or did he suddenly have an irrational fear of spiders? What else would explain his continuous screaming? He couldn't even see the spider now... It was probably waiting in the dark... laughing at his pitiful figure that was just laying on the ground.
Midas blinked, and quickly slapped himself inside his mind. "You didn't even see the spider clearly... Maybe it's just an eensy teensy tiny spider... It couldn't hurt anyone..." While Midas was contemplating this, he thought he saw movement above him. His screaming became even louder as he jerked away from the shadows.
Midas was so "busy" screaming he didn't notice someone else join him in the alleyway. A shadowy figure jumped a fence and landed next to him. Midas didn't notice the figure until after it had kicked him. His eyes turned to the figure, but he wouldn't stop screaming. He realized it was a girl around his age, and listened to her say "Hey, just shut it, would you?". He wouldn't shut up until she clamped her hand over his mouth. He tried to mumble, but he quickly shut up.
He looked back at the figure and realized it was another Hogwarts student - her name was Ami! It seemed she recognized him as well, as she called out "Midas? Ravenclaw, right? What are you doing?".
"Umm..." What was he doing? Screaming at a spider? That would sound really, really weird. "I was... s-spooked by - there was this - it like -" he stuttered out. He looked around for anything which could change the topic, and thought he saw something move in the shadows again. "There!" he shouted while reaching into his jacket for his wand. "There was a h-huge spider!" he yelled out, slightly less enthusiastic about the size of the spider. He drew his wand, and pointed it at the shadows.

A Spider-y Fright
Were all Ravenclaws scaredy cats? If they were, Ami was really going to be disappointed in the house, because really, spiders? Arachnids, of all things? They kept the mosquito population in check, for cripes sake, what was so utterly terrifying about that?
Really, as a Ravenclaw, he should've known better.
Was she being stereotypical? Probably. But surely, no one ever made any progress without assuming a little bit here and there. Midas, it seemed, was just a massive scaredy cat. A dumb one at that, as he immediately drew his wand after his spluttered sentences.
Dude, it's not like the spider's gonna fight back.
Ami reached out reflexively, snatching his wand out of his hand before he could do anything too drastic. How daft could he possibly be? "Are you crazy?" she hissed, shooting him a dark glare. "Why the hell would you draw your wand?" Ooh, profanity. She was going to have to start keeping it in check. "You can't use it, remember?" Reluctantly handing his wand back to him (it was rightfully his, after all), she said rather forcefully, "No underage magic outside of Hogwarts."
She was no figure of authority, and she certainly wasn't the best at following the rules, but this was a heavily emphasized rule that basically screamed, Break this rule and die. She didn't want to die.
"What are you so scared of, anyway? It's just a spider, it's not going to bite you." As if to prove her point, Ami strode confidently into the shadows, scanning the ground until she spotted the arachnid Midas had been freaking out about. "See? No biggie."
Fearlessly, Ami managed to coax the spider onto her hand, and slowly made her way back towards Midas, presenting him with the black figure, making a show out of it like it was some grandiose gift or something.
