Whatever Did The Water Do?
Serena frowned as the Professor spoke. She had been talking about a boy who she called 'Parasite' on basis that she could not remember his rather long name and he was definitely bugging her. His long name started with Para but for the life of her, she could not remember it. And he had failed to properly introduce himself to her, more recently. However, as the Professor spoke, she thought the words applied much more to another situation too. Silently, she listened to everything that Violet had to say on the matter. A grin broke out on her face as the newly appointed Charms Professor encouraged her to smack the boy if he tried anything. Well, it certainly made her feel less bad for slapping Siege when he had tried. Violet's advice was solid. It would definitely be words of wisdom that she would have to remember, should something like this ever occur again. Perhaps she ought to have smacked the Gryffindor boy who did kiss her several more times, whilst she had the chance.
"No- no, I don't think-" Serena shook her head quickly as she tried to correct the Professor, who may have misunderstood her, "I don't think this boy wants to do anything. More... He's uh worried I do, I guess?" She tried to explain, though she did not fully understand herself. Sighing, she decided to start from the beginning, "So a while back, I was helping with the Duelling Club practices. He was there and he seemed hurt. So I wanted to make sure he was okay. I don't really understand what happened. I just remember him because well... he looked really scared of me and then uh shouted that urm he... he wouldn't uh you know, do that. But like, I didn't even know him? He just said it and ran off. And uh well I thought maybe he got hit on the head and was sprouting out nonsense for no reason but..." Serena explained to the Professor, attempting to understand and make sense of the situation. In the duel, Paracelsus had genuinely looked at her like she was going to attack him or something. Of course, he had also been hit by a spell that was in the middle of a sneezing fit when all of it happened. Serena concluded everything had simply just become too much for him to handle. All she wanted to do was get him to the hospital. How he got from her worry to him worrying about her kissing him was beyond her.
She did not think upon it further. It was a memory that stuck in her mind simply because it was so random and unusual. However, she did not see the boy again and thought nothing of it. Until she came across him in the cabin and he proceeded to immediately talk about cooties and act as though he was still under the same misconception. "But... I dunno. I guess I just like... He brought it up again... And I think he still thinks that but like... I haven't done anything, you know?" Serena said sighing and looking at the Professor. There was a hint of sadness in her eyes that seemed to struggle to keep the waterworks in. Looking up at the sky, Serena attempted to force herself to not cry.
Why did he even think she would ever do something like that? Hell, she would be terrified if he tried - why would she put someone else through that pain too?
Serena suddenly hit her closed fist against the ground, in a moment of rage as it just became too frustration, "Argh, I bet it was that stupid Siege. He told him. He must have done. Why else would that parasite boy even think I would do such a gross thing? Stupid Siege. I hate him." Serena complained to the Professor, who had absolutely no idea who this 'Siege' or this 'parasite boy' even was. One had left the school and moved to Durmstrang at the end of the year and the other was definitely not known by that name to anyone other than herself. Although her words may have made little sense to Violet, they made sense to her. She was mostly just ranting out allowed. Both Siege and Paracelsus shared a house together, perhaps they were friends. Serena most definitely did not intend to kiss anyone. She hated the fact that someone had tried that already - there was no way she was going to let another try it nor was it something she even considered doing herself.
The Hufflepuff sighed as she listened to the old saying. All princes start as frogs and all gentlemen as dogs, and most boys do become men... just don't kiss them until then... Yeah, it made no sense to her. Why would you want to kiss them in the first place? It always just led to pain and heartache. She had already lost a close friend to that in the first place... She did not wish to lose any more, ever again.

Whatever Did The Water Do?

[quote]It was a little like hearing a person speak an unfamiliar language, when Serena launched into her explanation of all that had happened. Normally, Violet could keep up with just about every manner of conversation, but between her somewhat frantic pacing and half finished statements and the use of what might have been names but perhaps not... The Charms professor was left a little in the dark. For a moment she feared she had passed that age where she could still relate to youth, but this seemed to be more a case of just... rampant emotions than anything else.
Taking it all in, Violet turned her eyes to the prefect and smiled gingerly, "Sometimes, what seems loke the absolute worst thing in the world... In just a sort amount of time can seem so small and insignificant. These complicated emotions and feelings and fears... Someday you'll understand all of them, and you won't be so confused. But for now, it sounds like maybe your best course of action... which really goes for all of us, is to just be honest with this boy. If he's unsure or afraid, you may just need to let him know his fears are unfounded."
For all the girl's rambling, the last bit... which should have made the least amount of sense out of all of it... Actually seemed clearer than anything else she'd said. Boys could be cruel, sometimes. Especially about feelings...
Sitting up straighter, she shrugged, "The first boy I ever kissed... well, that is, the first boy who kissed me, missed completely and ended up kissing my eye. I was so embarrassed, I hid in my dorm for an entire day. Thought for sure it was the end of everything, and true to life it felt like it. But someday, Serena... Believe it or not, you won't even remember it until someone brings it up or something reminds you of it. Because you will run into a lot of moments that feel absolutely horrible and life altering... But then you will have moments that make it all fade away. And those are the moments.... The memories you'll hold onto. I promise."

Whatever Did The Water Do?
Serena rubbed her nose harshly, in an irritated manner as though she was taking her frustration out on the top of her nose instead of the boys that deserved it. The Hufflepuff Prefect sighed as she looked out to the lake. The water reflected beautifully in the sunlight. If she was in a better mood, perhaps she would have appreciated it a little more. But she was not in such a mood. The Professor's wisdom, however, was something she was appreciating.
Glancing over to the older woman, she listened as the lady spoke about emotions and fears. She claimed that all of the emotions that Serena was currently feeling would become small and insignificant soon. Sighing, "I hope so..." She replied, not very hopeful because it was hard to believe that when you were feeling so overwhelmed with emotions. She did wish that it was something she would forget about soon enough. The Professor gave her some solid advice: be honest with the boy. She had already done that and it had costed her a friendship with the boy but at least, she felt a lot more comfortable in herself and did not have to experience the awkwardness or anger that she would feel around him any more. This Parasite boy was not even her friend to begin with. There was nothing to lose.
But it was just hard to be honest with a random stranger that was judging you for no reason. She did not even know his name and yet, he seemed adamant that she was going to try and kiss him? It was ridiculous, if nothing else. Nodding, "I guess so... I'll try." She promised the Professor. She would try to remove his fears, if she could but she was not sure how she would go about approaching the topic. The boy would probably run away from fear as soon as she entered the room! If she knew his name, perhaps she could have written a letter but alas, she did not.
Serena sighed softly, letting her mind wander about the ways she might do this or what she would say to him. 'Oi you random boy - I don't like you, stop thinking I do'? Was that an appropriate thing for her to say? Who knows... At least she had the permission to give him a good smack if he tried anything funny - which was Professor Henley's words, not hers!
Speaking of the Professor, she told Serena a story from her own experience. The small Indian girl looked at her and blinked. The boy kissed her eye? She blinked a little. A small grin broke out on her face as that sounded kind of amusing, to be quite truthful. "I guess.. It's just... It's frustrating." She explained, "This frien- well, former friend of mine. Siege. He well uh... he you know... kissed me. I don't know why. I slapped him for it. Both times. And no one saw it so I didn't think anyone knew but like he must have told this Parasite guy? How else would he have known? It's just like... I trusted him. And then he broke that trust and... Eurgh, I just didn't think he'd tell people, you know? I clearly wasn't happy with it so why would he..." She continued, hitting her balled up fist against the ground again, "Boys are stupid. Was he trying to blame me for it?! Like how else would the-" Serena ranted before suddenly stopping. Her face paled a little, as realisation fell onto her.
"It was him?" She questioned to herself, suddenly recalling the appearance of a small person in the Hospital Wing. Serena did not know who it was but before she had the chance to figure it out, Siege had kissed her. The figure looked like a student, based solely on the height, that must have been breaking curfew. "That kid! He appeared after curfew in the hospital... Maybe that guy was Parasite?" the Hufflepuff continued, "I didn't see his face though, so I don't know. He was short. An- oh- there was a mask- he covered his face. That's why!" Serena continued, suddenly clicking her fingers as she sat upright a little more. She remembered that the figure's face was covered by some sort of mask. Perhaps this was his way of not getting caught for breaking curfew. "Maybe he saw..."
Lost in thought, she mumbled words out that were loud enough for Professor Henley to hear them, even though she was not actually intending to tell her everything. It was more just her way of processing the information. Everything had happened so quickly that night. She had been in so much pain, she had not even had the time to realise what was going on...

Whatever Did The Water Do?

[quote]She hadn't anticipated quite so vivid a recollection from the girl, and certainly not so confusing, and yet it was still with a mild sense of amusement that Violet listened. It wasn't, perhaps, a typical tale on an eleven year old's woes, but there was something so incredibly innocent about it all, and it reminded Violet, for a moment at least, that not every child would endure great hardships the way she and so many others had... It was nice, for a change, to hear about a set of circumstances that were, while certainly emotionally significant, still quite ordinary. For a moment, she was content to let the girl vent out her frustrations, her confusion and leave it at that.
But then Serena continued and the smile faded, as Violet straightened upright a bit, the color leeched from her skin by the unnerving words the girl had said. There was a mask.
"Dear Heavens..." Violet whispered, shaking her head. She had been informed by Ackerley and Quillius of the incidents involving the masked figure, but until now she hadn't yet spoke to anyone who had actually encountered him. It was chilling, to put it mildly, to think that Serena had come so close to someone so dangerous, and had no real idea about what exactly the situation meant for her or anyone else involved.
"...Is this the first time you've mentioned this to anyone, Serena?" She asked, her voice taking on a note of deep concern, "You aren't in trouble, but there have been incidents throughout the school now, and the more information that we have, the better off we'll be in ensuring these sorts of things don't ever occur, again. Please... tell me everything that happened to the best of your memory. I promise, no detail is unimportant..."
