Prior to Hogwarts, Sebastian was raised by his mother and father Caroline and Peter. Growing up as their only child his parents wanted him to receive the best start in life, and in their opinion, the best start meant the most thorough education possible, even if that came at the expense of their relationship with him. The family wasn't naturally well off but his parents worked many long hours and took overtime to provide him with various educational tools and reading material to supplement his schoolwork.
His accidental magic started early on. At around the age of four, he would often be found in places that should have been inaccessible to him, examples include him being found in a locked attic or appearing in the library 5 miles from home. Fortunately, he visited it regularly and was recognized or the situation could have become a lot worse. While worried his parents felt unable to watch him full time due to their work, preferring to constantly find new childcare and invest in more reading materials in an attempt to entertain their son, in the case he was somehow left on his own.
This lead to Sebastian developing a wide array of knowledge, as well as a strong sense of curiosity. As he grew older he became somewhat aware that some of his actions weren't considered normal or even physically possible. After all, the fire bell ringing after he'd stared at it out of boredom could be put down to coincidence, but it was highly unlikely that the teachers would fill the swimming pool with chocolate when they had a lesson planned in an hour, one that he specifically wanted to get out of, and teleportation to the local library should be impossible!
The incidents led him to develop an interest in fantasy and sci-fi books. While he wasn't sure he believed in the type of magic in fairy tales he did believe that there must be an unknown universal force behind what was happening, everything happens for a reason after all. He theorized that the authors of these books may have experienced the same thing, or know someone who had, and privately read many of them carefully. After all, according to most of these books, possessing some form of supernatural power at a young age could make him some kind of chosen one or set him on the path of a deadly quest. While he didn't want the responsibility of being a hero, he did want to prepare for the worst possible outcome. Of course, this all changed one December morning, when an owl somehow managed to get to the letterbox before the postman arrived.
At first, his parents were adamantly against him going. They didn't understand the world and didn't want their son to face unknown risk, as well as jeopardizing his future career by studying magic, rather than math and science. However, after some consideration, they knew that they had also become increasingly confused by their son's unexplained magical outbursts. Worried that the outbursts would become out of control without the proper training and with Sebastian's promise to supplement his muggle education in the summer break they once again entrusted the son they never truly took the time to understand care with others.
Sebastian was both excited and relieved to visit this new world that had opened up to him. He finally had some kind of answer to the questions he had been studying for so long. He was also glad that there were other children like him as he hadn't wanted to be burdened as the only one with this type of power, he never wanted to be a hero. He also took an interest in the ways wizards use magic to substitute muggle technology and wants to explore the history of how both of these advanced together in the future.

Personality
General
Sebastian is a naturally curious boy who enjoys learning about others and the world around him. To him knowledge is power, he considers the world a vastly unexplored place and wants to figure out as much as he possibly can. He has a strong sense of ambition, believing that the only person that can stop you achieving your dreams is yourself. He is willing to motivate others and wants to see his friends achieve all their goals.
He can come across as a distant and private person despite being social at first glance, although this is more of a subconscious habit due to lack of close relationships growing up, due to the lack of contact with his family and a more purposeful effort on his part at school. While he was able to get along with his classmates on a casual basis, as he also enjoyed joking around with others in lessons, he was also considered somewhat odd due to his intelligence and distant demeanor. He was typically considered the weird but funny boy by his classmates and was usually left alone outside of class unless he approached them. This will typically be shown by him not going into depth about his real emotions or details about his childhood until he grows closer to an individual.
He personally feels the need to keep his classmates at a distance due to what he suspected about the mysterious instances around him. While he wasn't particularly close to them he didn't wish for them to be hurt unnecessarily by whichever mysterious force had chosen him. This also leads him to hide any negative emotions he felt below the surface, fearing that they may cause him whatever power he had to become dangerous or out of control, something he subconsciously holds up to this day.
If you take the time to get him to open up he will become an extremely supportive, if blunt friend. He can also be very generous with his time, being especially happy to help with (and possibly complete) any homework you may have.
He definitely has a cunning streak, especially when it comes to causing some trouble. At primary school he was the boy that would remind the teacher of any upcoming homework while also completing his classmate’s homework for them, to test his workload ability and to see how long it took the teachers to catch on. As long as you don’t expect him to take the lead (and leaving him out of the spotlight if caught) he’ll be happy to assist in any pranking endeavors you may have.

- He loves sweets, especially white chocolate. If you want to get on his good side giving him some is a quick start.
- He’s a big fan of fish and has a tropical tank set up in his room at home. He will avoid eating fish when possible. His pets will probably be the thing he ends up missing the most while away.
- He hates any form of physical activity beyond walking, he’ll try to get out of it however possible.
- Saves up jokes and puns in his head in case the right situation comes around.
- Other than science, his favourite subjects were math and astronomy, he was really happy to hear that Hogwarts also has astronomy on the syllabus.
- He enjoys cold weather and the latter half of the season much more than the summer months. High temperatures just tire him out.
- He’s grown to enjoy classical music, due to it often being played while at home. It helps him to study.
- While he greatly enjoys the company of others he's used to the solitude and quiet of his home life. Therefore he will take a few moments every day to read or listen to music alone.
Physical Appearance
Standing at around 4" 6, and skinny due to being a picky eater. He has a fair complexion, short, poker straight light brown hair and large hazel eyes. His mouth is naturally drawn upwards into a relaxed smile or a smirk depending on the situation. He also has the habit of raising an eyebrow if something intriguing occurs.
His hair and clothes are always extremely neat as he cares a lot about his appearance and likes to make a good first impression, at least in terms of looks. In contrast, his posture tends to be fairly relaxed, he can usually be found slouching outside of lessons, where he will make an attempt to correct this to show (or feign) his level of interest.

Peter and Caroline Boyd: Sebastian's relationship with both of his parents is distant, due to the lack of direct attention he received growing up. Despite this, he doesn't hold any ill will towards them and figures that at the end of the day they raised him with his best interests in mind. While growing up he was also somewhat grateful for the distance, due to his fear of his magic hurting others. As he had no close friends growing up he isn't familiar with a more typical family dynamic and therefore they come across as strange to him.
