╔════════════════════════════════════════════╗

As far as this adventure went and the thoughts of every individual present, he and Max were on a similar wavelength.

They viewed this the way it deserved to be seen; as a challenge that they must overcome. For Dorian, his belief was that he had come too far and endured too much to simply turn tail and run because the going got a little tougher than expected. They were already here suffering through the professors' sick games, so why not make the most of it? Magic was happening before him as he and Max held the fallen pieces of the statue together, and Dorian couldn't help the playful smirk that formed on his bruised face when Eris retorted with some choice words of her own. "Woah there potty mouth! I was just playing." She was a fiery one, and he was thankful that she was here. Her presence along with Max's gave him strength.

And strength was something that he would be needing in spades if he had any hope of surviving what came next.

The statue, the minute both pieces found the right groove, self-repaired and turned from stone to flesh, Dorian taking a step back in shock and staring with wide eyes as the Herculean man shouted something about being free. The boy had no time to react before the man issued his challenge and grabbed his hand, forcing him down against a piece of hard stone where they were, apparently, to arm wrestle. It was a whirlwind of activity that Dorian had no time to prepare for, and it was all he could do to control the passionate beating of his heart in his chest. There was a lump forming in his throat that made it hard to swallow, and he was awash with cold sweat, mainly from the loss of blood whose flow had yet to be staunched. None of that mattered. This was a do or die situation, and there was no other choice but to do.

Something as unmagical as arm wrestling was something Dorian knew well, and the adrenaline pumping through his veins was a welcome asset that he intended to use.

He got into position while sifting through his memories of things he had learned in the not so distant past that could help him now. His mother had believed his time could have been better spent doing things that are more worthwhile than practising to be a brute, but Dorian had made the time to do just that and he hoped it would pay off now. Technique. Most people believed arm wrestling was about nothing more than brute strength, but Dorian knew that technique had as much if not more a part to play. The blonde who was to be his contender seemed fixated on his brawn, and from a few discreet assessments with his eyes, he noted that aside from a kneeling position, the man had not taken the time to assume any subtle shifts in body language. Power was the name of his game. Dorian made sure his right foot was ahead of his left to allow the weight to shift to the latter. He was thankful for the man's sudden grasp of his hand, for it held his thumb between his and the man's fingers. He pressed himself closer to the rock and descended further, lowering his centre of gravity while also pressing his upper arm closer to himself.

He didn't forget to breathe.

Dorian ensured he had a high grip, and the moment the game started, he pulled with all his strength rather than the general push that most would expect. His wrist was raised, his hand curved inward, which would push the meathead's own wrist forward in an uncomfortable position. His thumb between their fingers was a strategy, one he used in an attempt to loosen if not force the man's fingers apart while he pulled the man's hand away from his body. Dorian rotated his body and tilted his right shoulder to the left, using his shoulder strength and body weight to act in tandem with his own physical strength in an attempt to overpower the man. Instead of trying to bring the man's own hand to the left to slam it against the table, as most traditional displays of arm wrestling went, Dorian was trying to get the man's elbow to straighten as he pulled the arm away. The result would be the same with the man's hand on the table, and if all went well, Dorian would emerge the victor.

The man was strong, the angry bruises that would form along Dorian's hand during the exchange would prove this, but the boy would not relent.

✸ Quietly accept the arm wrestling challenge as if he had a choice rip.
✸ Position himself in such a way as to lower his centre of gravity, put his dominant leg forward, and press his torso against the edge of the stone to exert more pressure from his toes up.
✸ Curl his thumb underneath his fingers, putting it between his own and the opponent's.
✸ While wrestling, he pushes against the opponent's fingers with his thumb as he twists the other's thumb away, loosening the man's grip.
✸ Employs a technique known as the top roll, pulling the man's arm towards himself and to the left, lessening the man's own show of brute force while pulling the man's wrist back.
✸ Uses body weight and shoulder strength to assist arm strength to make the final pull, which should slam the man's hand against the table.

Witnessing the dragon emerge from the pool of lava confirmed her suspicions about the pool of water.  Since a dragon appeared from the lava when they placed the letters in the grooves, then she was positive that a kelpie would have appeared if they had placed those letters into the grooves in the floor.  In her personal opinion, Cynthia would rather deal with a dragon instead of a kelpie.
After listening to Reid trying to be brave, Cynthia watched silently as Frost approached the dragon and started talking to it.  Was the dragon magical?  She didn't know.  She gave a small sigh of relief when she saw that what she thought was a big enormous dragon was actually a smaller sized dragon.  She smiled ever so slightly as she watched the little dragon climb up onto Serena's shoulder and perch there before puffing out his chest and spreading his wings in an attempt to make himself appear bigger than he really was.  He proceeded to introduce himself as Mushu.
Mushu looked a bit insulted at being called cute by Serena.  She watched as Mushu spread out his wings and took flight...only to crash into the ground.  "Are you alright, Mushu? Cynthia asked, concerned he had hurt himself by crashing into the ground.

"Wait! Wait! I'm coming!"

Heels in hand, Anatole struggled up the stairs like he was a frail old woman. It was laughable from behind, but at the same time entirely serious. This whole Lock-In had been extremely serious and a matter of life or very grave injury. The former was preferable.

Leaping up the top stair, his ankle still burning, the Gryffindor boy saw the girl's light in the distance. She wasn't far, and he had to keep up with her or else the demons in the shadows could snatch the smol shy thing Prefect away and into whatever more misery these caverns had up their dastardly sleeve. By now, he had given up on looking back on what the Huffrindors ft. Ami were up to. He had to see if the Professors could help him.

"Aurelia!"

Slowly, other familiar voices rang out from above him. These, for once, sounded nothing like 12-year-olds. It was nice to hear, but at the same time, they could bring more danger. Everything brought danger.

"Oh God, it got me...MY ARM! Get the kids and tell my ex-wife I sometimes might love her! ARRRRRAAAAGH!"

Did beasts have ex-wives or kids? Or even arms?!?!?!

Anatole froze in place as he began to contemplate life and these desperate cries from above. There was really nothing he could do with a wand, a pair of high heels and a sprained ankle, but if he got to Aurelia, maybe they could put their heads together. "Wait up!"

"ARRRRRRAAAAAAAAGH!"

"...or...you know what, I got the kids. Hold them off, Solomon buddy!"

Solomon...it sounded familiar.

CRASH! Anatole jumped as he heard some clamour and began to panic more, letting out another small scream. Sucking in breath, he continued to move toward the light, this time faster. He scrambled toward it, slamming his heels on the stone ground, now lying on his back. "PLEASEDON'TSTEPONME!" Anatole was drenched in sweat now and looking up at the girl, exhausted and breaking the silence. "D-Did you hear that? Please tell me you heard that. It can't just be me!"

It was weird and somewhat ironic, but wherever he was, Aurelia always held the light.

Aurelia walked, the small flame of the magical candle barely lighting the way. It was pregador to the torch she had left behind, with less flames and a smaller chance of her being burned again. She was finally far from the group - and the boy who had burned her - even if she had only been with them for only a few minutes, she didn’t quite appreciate having the skin on her back burnt bare nor finding a couple of Hufflepuffs in the coffin when she had expected a few treats.

She was isolated, at least for now and was enjoying the silence. There was no longer a Gryffindor accidentally burning her or a hufflepuff wanting to hug her. She was surrounded by darkness, a candle and silence. The girl couldn’t have wanted more during that instance.

A familiar voice pierced through the precious silence. It was proffesor Cazarez, she would recognise the voice of the Gryffindor head of house and that Spanish accent of his.
”What. What is that?” Great. The professors were still there, she would be able to get aid for her back. She picked up her pace up the steps but froze, as she heard someone - most likely Proffesor Lear - had screamed “Basilisk!”. She stood on the steps and strained as if to determine wether she had heard right. It couldn’t be possible a Basilisk. She lifted her foot up to cautiously take another step but was startled when she heard a screamed followed by another. The sounds of distress sounded painstaking gruesome. Someone which went by the name Solomon, seemed to something to do with his arm. Aurelia took a step back, wondering wether she should venture into the main area, who knows what it might hold. She was about to take another step back when a distressed cry sounded. “PLEASEDON'TSTEPONME!” She jumped once again a hand flew up to her chest, pressing against where her heart was. Aurelia might have done so if the boy hadn’t announce his presence so obnoxiously loud.

You scared the day lights out of me!” The girl exclaimed. There on the cobblestone ground, beside the last of the steps laid a figure. He hadn’t had a source of light with him and had probably followed her because she had one. The pretty features on her face twisted into a scowl. He was the last person she wanted to be following her, he was the one who had burned her and was one of the reasons she wanted to leave the group.

"D-Did you hear that? Please tell me you heard that. It can't just be me!" His voice sounded afraid. Sweat glistened on his forehead. Not to mention he was with his back on the ground - who knows why- just laying there. Strange boy.

The Proffesor are in trouble. Come on, stop being weird and get up, we need to help them.” She said a little too forcefully. She was carrying the light with her. If he chose not to tag along to see what was happening in the halls, he would be left in the dark. She tightened her grip on her wand as she took a few steps cautiously forward. She was a Gryffindor, she wasn’t supposed to be afraid, but all that she felt in her gut was Fear. The screams didn’t sound pleasant at all. Who knew what might be in the main area? She glanced back at Anatole.

Come on Anatole.” She beckoned. It would be a slight reassurance for her to travel with someone else.

Interactions: Amadea, Howie, John, Rosie (?)

Yes! Ami's "noodle arms" didn't let her down, not today. After the Hufflepuff [JOHN] had brushed all the rocks off the lid (smart idea), Amadea and Ami were able to lift the lid together, no problem. What would be waiting for them underneath? A ghost? A puppy? A... Howie?

"Hey, dude," she said with a smile, offering a hand to help him up. "Nice to see ya." Noticing her dimming light out of the corner of her eye, she narrowed her eyes at her wand, focusing more of her energy and attention on the spell. Come on, don't give up on me now...

Staring at Howie, checking to see if he was visibly, physically hurt, Ami spotted the gaudy, tacky necklace around his neck. "Wow, okay, um..." Reaching into her own pocket, she pulled out her own gaudy, tacky necklace. It was nearly identical to Howie's, save for the fact that hers wasn't around her neck. "I guess we've got matching friendship necklaces, now? Are we really that tight, yet?"

Now that the other coffin was taken care of, Ami glanced around the room, finally taking everything in. Aurelia and Anatole had disappeared to who knew where, probably looking for the professors. Leslez seemed to be dead in the coffin, but really, it was his problem if he couldn't even step out of a coffin. Howie seemed alright and intact, and Amadea- oh, Amadea!

"Hey, good to see you," Ami said with a wide smile, pulling Amadea into a hug. Friends helped friends, Amadea had just proved that. Wait, who was that, crumpled in the corner?

"Rosie?" Running over to the girl, Ami reached for her wrist, checking if there was a pulse. What was that, a faint pulsing? Yes, so she was still alive. "Hey, someone with basic medical knowledge, come here and check her out," Ami called out to the surrounding group. "Don't just stand there like idiots, please- she needs medical attention, and fast."

Ami worked with pets, not humans, but maybe some of the knowledge would still apply. It seemed she was burnt a little bit, and unconscious. She'd probably be alright... but where were the professors? What on earth was going on? Was Lear insane?

Those were all good questions, yes, but there was another more important one- where the heck were the bathrooms?

With the combined effort of Ami's strength and Amadea's twig arms, they managed to push the lid off of the coffin to uncover another student. Amadea had no idea who it was, but Ami seemed to recognize the person. It wasn't surprising though, as Ami seemed to know everyone. Maybe it was because she was so outgoing.

It was interesting how both Howie and Ami had come out of coffins with matching necklaces. Amadea made a mental note to ask them about it later. None of her previous questions had been answered, so she continued to be left in the dark (thankfully not literally). She turned back toward John, who had remained fairly silent through the whole ordeal.

"So what happened to you when we got split up?" Amadea asked. If Ami wasn't going to answer her questions, maybe John would. She was trying to piece together the timeline of events that had transpired and hopefully figure out what all of it meant. So far, she wasn't doing so well, though that was mostly because no one was answering her questions. Given, there was Rosie still lying unconscious on the floor. That was something they should probably attend to first.

Amadea had already checked out the girl earlier. While she had a pulse, she wasn't looking too good. "Should we bring her to the professors?" Amadea asked as Ami inquired about someone with basic medical knowledge. They were all first years with almost no knowledge of any healing spells that could be useful in this situation. The professors, on the other hand, had years of experience that might be able to save Rosie's life. While it would put off their searching or a little while, Amadea didn't mind. She wanted to help Rosie, and also wouldn't mind a break from the ominous vibes of this room. Maybe then they could meet up with Anatole and Aurelia and continue on the adventure. After all, traveling in a big group would be less dangerous than being alone. Hopefully.
ACTIONS:

Without any sort of context, Anatole's current situation would be incredibly challenging to describe. Why was he lying on the stone ground with a girl towering above him with a hand clutched to her heart and everything else around them being silence? And why...why had he decided to come on this trip?

Aurelia's expression was brief and to the point. It had left both of them jittery and surprised, which isn't what Anatole was going for, but it ended up happening. At least she knew where he was.

It was hard to hide her grimace, even in the low light. Clearly, this wasn't an act she would be forgetting about anytime soon. The pain still stuck with both of them. "I-I'm sorry! Just didn't want you to step on me..."

He placed his hands on the ground and pushed himself up to sitting, but was all too afraid to get to his full height. His ankle was still weak and his feet were burning. Whether Aurelia liked it or not, Anatole was good as going nowhere without her. It was either using this tall, burly girl as a makeshift crutch or crawling with heels in his hand for the rest of this...adventure. The makeshift crutch sounded much better...but would she oblige?

"The Professors are in trouble. Come on, stop being weird and get up, we need to help them." Her quote was laced with nothing but truth.

"Alright, alright! I'll come with you!" He scanned his surroundings and then peered back up to her. "Just one problem. I...uh...can't get up on my own. Can you help me? I...uh...might need to use you as a crutch." Breathing a shaky sigh, Anatole outstretched his hand for her to possibly help her up. "Then we'll go after those Professors!" He needed to lighten the mood but not light anything else badly. Really badly. "Alright, you and me." He tried to grin at her as he wiped the perspiration off his forehead. "We've got this."

Gosh, that stung.  The boy, called Dorian, had her arm.  It was on fire.  Hufflepuffs and fire often mixed for some reason, but this was different.  It was like hitting your head hard, so it ached and clouded, only it was her arm.  And he was touching it.  Dorothy bit her lip and silently allowed Dorian to guide her to the scarlet cup.  The pungent, coppery smell of blood stung her nostrils.  Dorothy raised her chin and closed her eyes as the blood dripped into the teacup.  It was easier to look at the ceiling.  Her eyes opened, allowing a single tear to roll down the side of her face and tickle her ear.  She quickly wiped it away with her left hand.  This was not the time for weakness.

They were asking her if she was ok.  Ha.  It was slightly amusing that the very people who had shunned her were asking about her well-being.  Trauma could always bring people together.  Dorothy knew they felt it too.  The pain, the fear, the pressure.  Some handled it better than others.  Dorian had cried, Eris had cried, Dorothy had almost cried.  Max hadn't. Why would he? He wasn't bleeding, he wasn't hurting, and he probably didn't care if they were.  Or he had just shut everything out.  It didn't matter.  Those with brittle minds had to break, eventually.

"It's fine,"  she whispered with a sharp exhale, speaking to both the redhead and the boy.  "Doesn't even hurt."  Max, the resident psycho, began to harshly educate the others on 'being a Gryffindor'.  He wanted to keep going, to finish what they started.  Dorian dropped her arm, which fell limply to her side, and moved to lift the stone arm of the statue.  She was being told she could leave.  That she, Dorothy Shafiq, could turn tail and let this adventure slip away before it even happened.  No.  Not her. "I'm staying.  But this prize better be bloody valuable, or I swear those professors will-"

Before she could finish, another boy flung himself onto Max like a damsel in distress.  Dorothy was taken aback by the boys' actions and the absurdity of the situation.  The redhead, who apparently was named Eris, began to harshly question the blonde haired boy.  His strange actions led Dorothy to a sudden realization.  "Eris, wait.  It was the door.  It was the bloody door.  Whoever walked through it had some sort of spell cast on them.  It made me weird too... I think. He's been cursed by it, or something. It's not his fault." She paused.  Well, the girl ought to know..  "You've got a mustache, by the way.  Also from the door."

The boys had finished putting the statue together.  Dorothy watched, horrified, as rock turned to flesh.  A hulking man stood before them, guffawing loudly.  So this is what she had bled for?  A freaking bodybuilder!? The flaxen buffoon grabbed Dorian and flung him around like a rag doll before seating him roughly at a stone table.  This was a test of strength.  An arm wrestle.  One Dorothy doubted Dorian could win.  Really!  The man had massive muscles, some of which shouldn't have been visible.  Dorian, though athletic, would be no match for this mutant.

How could they win?  "Wait a minute.  Everyone just... Just slow down!  This is crazy!  He's a human muscle.  We're twelve! There's no way-" Dorothy stopped.  The statue-man was still there.  "Mr.  Statue-human-thing.  You are very impressive, and we may be a bit out of your, um, weight class. He's hurt.  I'm hurt." The bloody girl held out her arm for him to see, before brashly continuing.  "I propose a different challenge.  A battle of wit.  Physical strength isn't everything, you know.  To truly be the strongest, sharpness of mind must be present."  She paused, glancing nervously at the others.  Hopefully, they were smarter than they looked.  "A game of riddles.  If we win, you give us the treasure.  If we lose, you arm wrestle, or we leave.  Whichever you want.  Deal?"

Dorothy dropped her eyes to her arm.  It was still bleeding.  She took a handkerchief out of her pocket and attempted to cover the wound with it.  Tying the ends in a loose knot, she glanced back up at the statue-mutant-thing.  "You first?" Had he agreed?  Dorothy didn't care.  She wanted to ask her question before blood loss made her forget.  "What word... What word looks the same upside down and backward.. When- when all the letter are capitalized?" The Hufflepuff stumbled on her words as she phrased the riddle.  Madam Shafiq had forced Aljasus to play riddles with her when she was little.  It was supposed to 'keep her mind sharp'.  The house-elf was surprisingly good at them.  Hopefully, the statue man wasn't.

"be brave. take risks. nothing can substitute experience."

At this point, Rosie couldn't have cared less about the prize.Whatever it was, it would probably fill her ego for two seconds before she was over it. And honestly, she was too upset and scared to even care about what half-assed prize the professors had offered for them. It wasn't worth the betrayal, humiliation, and PTSD-educing events that Rosie's twelve year old self was forced to go through. There was someone in trouble, someone scared, someone calling for help. And Rosie was going to try to help, no matter what.

She glanced behind her to see if Lucy was still following, and granted, she was. Rosie appreciated the company, she might not be able to do a lot on her own. Besides, Rosie couldn't really trust any of her friends at that moment, God knew that they'd just leave her again.

Speaking of Gryffindors...

When Rosie turned back around she saw a boy reaching down and picking something up. He was near her when Rosie was struggling to get free, and he glanced at her, and didn't even try to help. He seemed to be overcome with determination, but more specifically, greed. He looked confused, but relieved, Rosie couldn't even see that much in the dark. But it didn't matter.

Because Rosie had no sympathy for those who chose personal gain over those who are in trouble.

She turned back around and made her way to the noise of running water, and Rosie almost felt a calm surge of relaxation fill her body, and she let out a sigh of relief. She closed her eyes for just a moment, just a second, Rosie tried to act like nothing was wrong. That all she could hear was the calm crashes of a waterfall.

And that lasted a good few seconds before Rosie's furry ears picked up a scream.

Rosie's eyes fluttered open and she turned towards the source of the noise. She saw faintly, a silhouette calling for help. And Rosie could've taken the situation a few different ways. She could've thought it through, talked about it with Lucy, went back to get more help for the injured house elf. But there was no time.

Rosie picked up her chain off the ground and ran forward. "I-It's okay!" She called to the house elf, raising on hand in reassurance that she wouldn't hurt them. "It's okay, I'm here. You're safe. We're gonna get you somewhere safe, and everything is going to be fine." Rosie said, ignoring the water that started to splash onto her face. "Here, actually." Rosie let her robe fall down her shoulders as she set it to the side, luckily she had a white buttonup and a skirt under it just it got too hot. She kicked off her shoes and held up her chain, slowly walking into the water. It wasn't that high up, but it would soak the ends of her robe. She walked over to where the house elf was and held out her hand. "It's okay, you're okay. Are you hurt? I'm gonna get you somewhere safe. Promise." She said, a reassuring grin on her face.[/color]

It wasn't time to win anymore, it was time for everyone to be safe, student or not.

Interacts with Rosie Parker and Parcel Myth
"Bollocks," Lucy hissed as her wand went out. She hadn't been focusing, obviously. There was a cat-girl next to her that had kind of demanded all of her attention. But wait - she could still see. Strange. The sound of water was nearly overwhelming now, and she peered forward. The room was slowly becoming more and more illuminated, and she looked around for the source of the light. Oh! It was Parcel! Bless him - he still had the torch. "Parcel!" she called with a cheer and a wave, grinning at the boy. Unlike most of the other students, Lucy was still relatively carefree. Sure, there had been a scary snake and a swarm of bats, but both had conveniently disappeared. Out of sight, out of mind.

It was at that moment that a sound reached her ears. Was this what Rosie was hearing before? Rather than continue into the unknown dark, Lucy paused, waiting for Parcel to catch up and pass her before continuing. She had moved into the new area enough to realize that they were not in the main room anymore. There was dirt now instead of paving stones. And the water... it was so loud. It wasn't long until Lucy could see why. A gushing stream poured through the area, and on the other side... was that a house elf?

Lucy gasped, ready to spring into action, but Rosie was faster. The cat-girl had been ahead of her this whole time, and now she was quickly disrobing and wading through the fast water to get to the creature. "We have to help them," Lucy called to Parcel, gesturing toward Rosie and the pitiful creature. She didn't wait to see if he would agree - she just naturally assumed that anyone would jump in if someone needed help. Rosie had already started the rescue effort. If she has to transport the house elf back to the professors, she'll need help carrying him. Especially through the water, Lucy noted, casting a worried glance at the girl. If she fell in the water, the chain around her neck could become a deadly liability.

Lucy followed Rosie's example and dropped her school robe on the ground. Free of the bulky clothing and now in a well-worn pair of jeans and a simple gray t-shirt, Lucy glanced down at her sneakers and decided to keep them on. Her tactic was a bit different than Rosie's, but the intent was the same: help the poor thing that was calling out for help. The stream didn't look too wide... and it would probably be best to avoid getting wet. Wet shoes were no fun to walk in. I could probably jump that, she thought, building up her courage. Yeah. It's jumpable. And even if I fall short, I'll just get a little wet. Come on! The house elf needs help!

The wand in her hand was a distracting weight. Lucy didn't dare leave it behind, but she also didn't like the idea of jumping across the stream with it in her hand. What if she had to catch her fall and she dropped it in the water? What if she broke it by landing on it? With these thoughts in mind, she brought the carved cherry wood up to her mouth and clenched it between her teeth. There. The wand was secure and now her hands were free.

Backing up a little bit, she took a couple of breaths. Just run as fast as you can and then jump. Come on. Help the elf. Help Rosie. Biting down on the wood, Lucy took off toward the stream. Instinctively, she found herself aiming for the narrowest part of the channel. Arms pumping, hair flying, teeth clenching, she watched the bank come closer and closer. Just a little farther --- NOW! She pushed off of her right foot with all of her might, stretching her left toward the far bank as she soared through the air. With any luck, she would land on the far bank and be there just in time to help Rosie out on the other side.
