Aravis had been walking around the grounds aimlessly looking for something to cure her boredom. She got bored extremely easy which made it harder to find something entertaining. Her day had seemed to be going on forever which made it even worse than it already was. Birds seemed to chirp as they fluttered around in the sky. She looked up at the sky which was a bit cloudy until she heard someone call her name. She looked behind her to see the one person she absolutely hated.

A girl she couldn't stand was currently running towards her was waving and calling out to her. Aravis looked around as if she didn't see or hear the other girl. She spotted a boy who had dark blonde hair that was in near proximity. She walked up to him before tapping on his shoulder to get his attention. "Hey I haven't seen you since the ceremony! How have you been?" She said tilting her head back slightly to gesture at the girl behind her hoping he would understand her situation. She was trying not to laugh at how stupid she looked. Her eyes were practically begging for him to go along with it and act as if he knew her. She hoped her plan didn't fail for the sake of her pride.

It seemed like there couldn't be one day where Max went on a leisurely stroll without getting interrupted. Today he'd been interrupted twice, once to be told off severely by some girl for being a bully and another time to help some second year find his missing cat. The latter hadn't been too bad, but he was sick and tired of this 'bully' rumour going around. He wasn't pushing around helpless kids - he was speaking his mind and getting in trouble for it. Jeez. People were annoying and prone to overreaction.

Speaking of overreaction, the third time someone interrupted him (this time by physically tapping him on the shoulder), he was ready to explode. He turned with a slowness that was insolent and gave the random girl a flat stare, waiting for her to berate him too. "What." It was said under his breath, but his question was answered a second later when she spoke. His eyes narrowed for a second as he tried to place her, then widened marginally when he realized she was trying to avoid some girl behind her.

"I - " He paused, assessing the situation further. He'd been about to shut her down, say that he had no idea what she was talking about, but a quick drop of the eyes to her robes revealed the green he coveted so much. A Slytherin. Well now. Who was he to mess up her ploy? Letting a polite smile grow over his face, he nodded with a touch too much enthusiasm. "I'm great, thanks! What an amazing school this is. How have you been?"

Aravis sighed in relief at the fact he went along with it. She turned her head a bit to notice the girl still waiting to talk to her from afar. Apparently she was persistent on talking to Aravis. The black haired girl knew she'd have to talk to the other sooner or later though. "I know right, it's simply divine. I truly couldn't be any happier here." She said with an extremely fake smile. In all honesty the only thing she liked about the school was that it was huge and easy to get lost in, and the fact she was in Slytherin.

Aravis tilted her head to the side to see the other girl walk away in defeat. With a proud smile she turned back to the male in front of her. "Sorry about that, I've been avoiding that girl since I got here. She's driving me insane." She said dropping her smile. Too much smiling- whether it be fake or not- hurt her face. "I should probably introduce myself seeing as it's apparently proper according to my Aunt. I'm Aravis Escanora, a pure-blood. Pleasure to meet you." She said with a rather blank face. She wasn't fond of showing emotion to people she didn't know.

The girl bothering the Slytherin clearly wasn't getting the hint, so Max kept his smile plastered on as he barely listened to the fake pleasantries he was receiving. It was beyond irritating to have someone persist on talking to you when you didn't want them to, and he mentally sent out vibes to the girl to go away. Finally, seemingly reluctantly, she did leave and Max let the smile slide from his mouth to roll his eyes.

"No worries," he said, taking in the way the Slytherin's expression had changed. She knew how to play a part of the game then, at least. He was further impressed when she introduced herself as a pure-blood before anything else - people who took pride in their bloodlines were the the kind of people he wanted to know. He let his friendly posture change into one more formal as he tipped his head in a nod, deciding to go along with her way of introductions. "Avery. Max Avery, also a pure-blood."

She'd passed two of the tests for what people had to have if he wanted an alliance with them, but the third remained up in the air. With a smirk that screamed an arrogance he didn't really feel but was good at putting on, he asked, "That girl a mudblood or something?"

Aravis wasn't shocked at the question at all. She has been expecting something of the sort. "No, actually she's a half-blood. Extremely annoying. Muggleborn, Half-blood, Pureblood. It doesn't matter to me. They all annoy me equally." Aravis said with a sigh. She didn't care about blood status when it came to how much someone ticked her off.

The particular girl had been trouble since Aravis had met her, along with a few other students. Aravis found herself reminded of her muggle childhood friend. Troublesome, although she did miss him greatly. After all her father said your first friends never leave you. Her Aunt had decided to change it to 'your first friends never leave you, you leave them' when she had locked Aravis in her room because of her friend.

Not only that but Charo had been her first friend at Hogwarts, she was a half-blood. Aravis shook off her memories quickly. She hoped she hadn't said anything to offend the boy. After all, she was well aware how offended some purebloods could be at the smallest little detail. Or maybe that was just her Aunt and Uncle along with their friends. Who knew, she might have even made a friend today.

"Hm." Max pondered that for a moment before accepting it with a slight nod, his expression sliding into neutral to hide his thoughts. She'd passed pretty much every test he'd set out, but he still wasn't sure if her family cared about the blood status people had and so would be beneficial for his family to know. Escanora... did he know that name? He hadn't had time to do quite as much research on families as he usually liked to do, what with the homework and newfound friendships taking up his time, but just knowing someone in Slytherin would be a relief. Besides, she also hadn't seemed offended at his use of the derogatory term, so he figured her family couldn't be all that bad.

"A lot of the children here are pretty immature, I have to admit," he allowed, shifting his weight on his feet to assume a sort of insolent slouch his mother would slap him for. That immaturity had made him angry on numerous occasions, that Parker girl the first coming to mind and then that other boy, James, whom he'd fought with even worse. Naivety was something he didn't respect, and a lack of respect was similar to dislike in his books. "Though a few of them are okay. I have yet to meet many of this year's students from your House, if I'm being honest, but they seem much better than the other ones."

If he had to rate them, Slytherin would certainly be at the top. His kind of people, the House of the ambitious. Gryffindors were okay, the one Ravenclaw he'd met had gotten under his skin, and Hufflepuffs... ugh. Yes, he certainly needed more green friends. "What's it like being a snake, anyhow? The Common Room nice?"

Aravis almost rolled her eyes at the though of an immature person- almost. "Oh, don't even get me started on those types of people- I've met this one Hufflepuff and I've been so tempted to feed her to anything lurking in the forbidden forest. I've met some nice people but most of them are oblivious to everything around them. The Slytherin's this year seem mostly decent, a few I believe lean toward the Hufflepuff side of the scale but apparently the sorting hat is never wrong." She said a little bit more chatty than she normally was. Complaining about people was one of her best "skills." Or at least thats what she had been told.

Being asked about her house made her smile. "It's nice. Being put with people that are like-minded is fun for the most part, some don't belong in the house currently but perhaps they will make better Slytherins in the near future. Or at least I hope so. The common room is lovely. It's mostly dark in the room with some green lanterns, it's really nice. The couches are extremely comfy when other people don't hog them. How's Gryffindor? Are most of them as bad as they sound or is it just a stereotype?" She asked curiously. She had heard a lot about Gryffindors and so far hadn't met any that she got along with.
