'You're probably wondering how I got here...' Hugh thought to himself as if an audience was watching this sitcom of a race transpire whilst he was crashing through every obstacle. He was made of tough stuff, but the wear and tear was slowly starting to bite. Not that he was close to stopping, he could crash through this race twice if he wanted to. There was a brief second he allowed himself to just hang around in the vines, his body still smeared with pigeon poo. Then he took a deep breath and started pulling. "Right, let's get this over with then." He groaned as he tried to raise both arms away from him. "C'mon you, vegetal snakes!" His roars would echo across the racing course.

Back on her broom and breathing the fresh air. Della scanned the air. She could only see flurries of blue uniforms around her. Hopefully, that meant the rest of her team was way ahead of her, and she was just playing catch-up. Though she couldn't see far, the dreaded maze loomed over most of her field of vision.

After being ahead in the games with Xailah, Bloom was now falling far behind. Perhaps it was because of the vines, but most likely, it was because she was feeling more and more light headed. She was losing blood, and fast. She needed to get through each unit, but felt like she was slowing down. But that wasn't going to stop her from doing what she wants to do.

Marina manages to find the exit and flies back into view to a cheer from the lion portion of the crowd. Clair makes some progress, following the walls of the inside of the maze, using her massive brain to deduce the remaining paths she has not yet tried. Harper, however, is just lost. It's okay, Harper. They design them so that people get lost in them.

Della: d20 (9) + 10 Wisdom = 19 Success! Barely...

Della is absolutely killing it on the track - unfortunate that she wasn't killing it in the latter half of the track, but beggars can't be choosers, and blatchees can't be bruisers when they have to spend a full round of the race crawling back, defeated, to their broom. Really, it's an impressive performance for someone who has been stuck in the first ten units for so long to just breeze right past the maze like that. Harper and Clair are no doubt miffed as they hear the sounds of anticipation from outside the maze build, then release in a cheer as Della, too, makes it out.

UNIT 14 – Moderate Fog

Della has halved accuracy and evasion until round 11.

Karma works fast, however, and those who managed to escape the maze fall victim to the fog. God, this race is determined to drag itself out as long as possible, simply by ensuring that nobody ever makes it to an obstacle - and if they do, they certainly won't be making it past it.

Thunk-thunk goes the heads of two young racers as they pass through the narrow passageway of the sixteenth unit, cramming past each other and barely managing to fit through without being knocked off their brooms. A few more bruises for the collection to keep the nurse employed.

UNIT 17 – Hard Vines

Hunter is stuck in the vines.

A gentler sort of failure scoops Hunter up off his brooms and tangles him in a twisted snare of vines, leaving him stuck and hanging in the air like some sort of beautiful caterpillar who will no doubt be making a return as a majestic butterfly in the next round. Or maybe he'd be stuck forever, like the rest of the Ravenclaw team. That would be their luck.

UNIT 17 – Nick blatches Bloom

Bloom is blatched and falls from her broom.

To protect Bloom from the vines, Nick rides right past her and slams into the side of her broom, sending her flying safely into a mass of plant matter below. She takes no damage from the fall aside from gaining a few new leaves for her hair, fine accessories that help cover up any natural stench that comes from being a Ravenclaw.

The thorns are no match for the two Gryffindor bruisers, who fly onward toward Xailah, who is finally dredging herself up out of the dirt to perhaps make the final move to cross the finish line and end this race once and for all...

As Bloom was slowly getting herself out of the vines, she did not know that a Gryffindor was on their way past her, and decided to knock her off her broom and into the plant matter, slowly making her way to the grounds. Luckily, from landing on a bunch of plants on the bottom, Bloom did not feel any damage taken. She did still feel, however, extremely light headed as she got up from the ground. Leaves were attached to her seamless and naturally beautiful smelling hair. Bloom had no time to check each part of her scalp for a leaf. She rubbed her hair all over with the palms of her hands, and then reached down for her broom. Her only job now, was to get back into the race.

It was really really frustrating. She could hear what was going on around her, she figured someone was leaving the maze, yet she seemed just as lost in the maze, if not even more lost. The Ravenclaw figured the race would be finished by someone soon, hopefully that someone would happen to be one the Ravenclaw team.

Xailah wiped the muck off Delta's wooden frame in disgruntlement; her fingers curling over its base, freeing the paint of clingy grass and moist dirt. She swore silently; profanities of every color painting the interior walls of her head. When they quietened, she spared a glance over her shoulder. She still couldn't see anyone yet. That was both assuring and concerning- it meant she still had time to maintain lead, but it also implied that the rest of the racers had gotten held up by something. Or someone. Hopefully the only obstacles they were having trouble with were themselves- she wouldn't wish anyone to have the experience she did, with the squid.

Hoisting one leg over her broom, Xailah assumed a position to remount. She stirred a little in an attempt to find a grip through the drying squid slime and muck, that would allow her to remain on her broom; at least until the conclusion of the race. She would settle when satisfied. Redirecting her attention to the goal in front of her, the lioness would lift off. It was only forward from here. Lets end this, what say you?

Harper was very panicked as she was attempting to get out of the maze. She never had a good sense of direction, and this maze was a good reflection of that. She felt a bit nervous with how far behind from the whole Gryffindor team she was. But, she couldn't help it now. She would just focus on getting out of the maze so she was not entirely embarrassed!

The scary cool gryffindor frog choir girl was an inch away from the finish line. Maybe luck wasn’t on the bird’s side in this match, but that was completely fine. Her birds tried with all their might, she just needed to bonk them on their heads one by one later on, perhaps that’ll put some sense on their heads to try harder. There will always be next time.

Action Sad

Violence again, it was the easiest way to support Xailah in her position up in front. Nicholas understood that well enough. He was one of the bigger players on the course, months of summer training had seen to that. Bloom may have been older, but Nicholas was more blood thirsty, and as he burst forth from the maze, his target was clear. The ex-captain blatched her withotu remorse, not bothering to check on her falling trajectory as he continued onward. Hunter and Hugh were near him, but he knew they were far from the lead.

Still, the boy couldn't help but flash a wolfish grin to his half-giant compatriot. Finally, Lowe wasn't the only one who got to crush skulls.
