Ann Madison - First Year - Gryffindor

Her fathers wand raised and pointed at her, glowing with a readily fireable spell. She had heard stories, whispers, of powerful Aurors corrupted by Dark Wizards. Of Aurors who were under the influence of mind-controlling curses such as imperious who were commanded to kill their family and then themselves. The Dark Wizards enjoy this - less work for them and more pain for the one they’re controlling - as Aurors are trained to resist this magic some can remain aware of their actions which the casters simply delight in. Her greatest fear is that these stories could become her reality.

Cold air, maple syrup, shoeshine

Ann has long dirty-blonde hair which falls in waves - stopping midway down her back. Her eyes are a deep brown and she stands at 143cm. Her face has some freckles scattered across her nose but her lightly-tanned skin is bare from marks or dimples.

Ann has always been very sociable however her complex imagination has always led her to be somewhat withdrawn at times.The beauty of the magical world seems to hold infinite possibilities that her mind cannot help but explore sometimes. Ann has always been very determined, even at a young age, whether this be completing puzzles such as jigsaws or scaling the largest tree in her back garden to see her surroundings from a new perspective. Her father had instilled a suspicion of others into her from a young age due to his position as an Auror in The Ministry (the few stories of her Fathers ongoing career that she managed to hear glimpses of, allowed her to construct this suspicion subconsciously as well) leading her to be immediately distrustful of people however this often goes undetected by those this is directed towards.

Ann and her family live in a rural area of Colyton and so her parents were able to introduce her to the magic of the Wizarding World without the awareness of muggles which only furthered Ann’s love of magic. Ann has a very strong relationship with both her parents however with her mother this bond is the strongest, as Ann’s father works in the Ministry of Magic he is often away from home - leaving Ann with her mother. Ann’s father could be perceived as cold and aloof by observers, this is the culmination of a constant stoic nature (which was needed for his role within The Ministry an an Auror), however he is in no way unloving - albeit he displays this love more commonly through actions rather than words which can be less tangible to the receiver (Ann). Ann’s mother is far more physically expressive when it comes to her affection for her daughter, a trait which Ann herself seemingly inherited.

Ann’s first instance of magic occurred just before her 4th birthday, while she was still 3 years old. When Ann was younger she had a crib mobile which consisted of metallic stars and moons which hung above her crib, it was spun to help her sleep. The spinning action was accompanied by the tinkle of metal clipping metal. One night her parents had carried her to, and into, her crib for bed but had forgotten to spin her mobile - just before her parents left the door they heard a loud jingly-clatter which began to slow into a gentle rhythm. Ann had spun her own mobile, by the time her parents creeped over (their faces completely filled with joy and excitement) their child was drifting off into sleep.
