Another Meeting of the Martial Arts Club
When the blonde girl approached her, Daphne smiled and bowed, remembering that it was a customary greeting. There were so many martial arts to learn and while she had some in mind, it was still a lot to take in. Thankfully, this girl seemed sweet and not intimidating at all. She then took her hand, her cheeks flushing a bit as she realized it was probably foolish of her to bow when this girl had offered her hand instead. Shaking it, Daphne just continued to smile, "My name is Daphne Sapphirus! I'm a first year and well, a newbie in everything. I do really want to learn Karate, Kung Fu and Ji Jitsu though!" She responded, letting go of Bailey's hand once she was done with the introduction. "I am not very athletic but I feel that learning self defense will come in handy, I'm sure there's more to defense than just spells, after all right?" Daphne asked, her hands brushing along the rich fabric of her hanfu. "I did not overdress, did I? If so, I did not mean to show off, truly. I told my mother of the clubs that I joined and she convinced my brother to give me his old martial arts robes. He used to do karate in his earlier years. I'll grow into this, eventually." She laughed. "I am a bit shy though. I may not be as good at the sparring aspect but I promise to try! I want to protect others, especially my animal friends from harm."

Bailey smiled as the younger girl, the one who had just shown up, bowed. Bailey bowed in return, and then stuck her hand out for the girl to shake if she chose to. The younger girl chose to shake her hand, and this made Bailey smile even wider. Daphne Sapphirus is how the girl introduced herself, continuing saying that she was a first year, and new at everything. She mentioned wanting to learn Karate, Kung Fu and Ji Jitsu, and then she let go Baileys hand.
“Welcome Daphne to the Martial Artists club! As I said, my name is Bailey Glade, third year Ravenclaw. I am the president of this club, and over there is Kim Aoki- my Vice President for almost every club I’m the head of, and my best friend!”
Then bailey called over to Kim, saying “Kim! Waive to our newest member!”
Turning back to Daphne bailey listened as the girl continued.
Then Daphne said that she wasn’t very athletic, but that self defense had to come in handy.
“Self defense will come in handy, I assure you!” Bailey said. She would continue, saying “No! I welcome anyone, dressed in anything! It’s cool that your brother did Martial Arts- is he a wizard?” Bailey smiled and started to walk deeper into the room, so they weren’t standing by the door anymore.
“oh, and I have a fancier uniform, but I’m dressed so… casual because I find it easier and less intimidating to be in my summer uniform. I hope you don’t mind that-“
The girl continued, saying I am a bit shy though. I may not be as good at the sparring aspect but I promise to try! I want to protect others, especially my animal friends from harm."
This made bailey grin. Turning so that she was walking backwards, Bailey said “Don’t worry- my first year, and half of last year, I was super shy. But Kim over there, and Coco- or Colin McCoire as everyone else calls him, and another friend, Taizu, got me to come out of my shell. Now I’m one of the most sociable and dare I say- friendly people here!”
Pausing, Bailey glanced to see where they were going. They were almost to Kim and Kayla, who were still stretching. Bailey decided to offer Daphne some choices: “Do you want to start with some stretching? If you want, we can also go strait to some drills, or a little form or sparring work. It really depends on what you feel up to, and what you want to try today. I specialize In Taekwondo, but I’ve taken a few judo classes. Kim knows a wider variety, having done MMA or mixed martial arts. So… if you ever have questions ask one of the two of us!”

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Kim couldn't help but smirk. Bailey was someone he felt comfortable with, pretty much all the time. It was a unique kind of relationship. Similar in nature to the one he had with Sophia, although somewhat different at the same time. With Sophia he felt more of a protectiveness over, as if he didn't want her getting hurt by others due to her innocence and naivety. Perhaps the word for it would be a sibling type of relationship. On the other hand, with Bailey he shared a kinship that was different by nature. He and Bailey were a team and they knew eachother quite well, as the two of them had become relatively close over the past year. It kind of helped that Bailey had been one of the first people Kim had met. They'd actually been paired together from the start, as if the universe was trying to get them together in every way possible. But of course, Kim didn't think he was attracted to girls, as he'd never been before. Other than that one moment with Precious. He was into boys, after all Rabbit literally stole his breath every time they got close to eachother. The white haired boy could have sworn he'd even felt his heart stop once. That didn't tend to happen when he was around girls. So, that in turn meant he was gay, right? Or could he possibly be wrong about all of this? He shook his head. There was no point in thinking about this right now, he was at a club meeting and needed to focus right now! Kim was about to return his attention back to Kayla when Bailey called back at him, telling him to wave at the girl a short distance away from them. He'd already done so once when she'd first entered but just in case she hadn't seen, Kim did so again. "Glad to have you with us!" The white haired boy said, raising his voice. He returned his attention to Kayla and offered her a faint smile. Smiles were supposed to be what people gave to make others feel welcome, right? Hopefully he'd learned how to smile in the right manner by now. "How are you feeling now?" He got to his feet and went over to Bailey's gear bag to get out the spare kickpads. Bringing them back over to where Kayla was, Kim gestured for her to rise. "Let's do some drills! Okay, do you know how to do basic punches and kicks? Or do you not know anything at all?" He asked, waiting to see what exactly Kayla knew. If she knew nothing, he'd have to teach her these things first. But he was very patient and knew sometimes it took people some time to learn. There was no need to rush, this club was meant to be able to teach members at their own pace. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

Kayla knew she recognised Kim from somewhere! Or atleast that what her brain was telling her. But she did know him, that was something, wasn't it?
"Yes, Kayla. That's me," she said with a nod. She smiled at Kim's words about the poster. The poster was intreging, yes, but that was not exactly what led her to the club.
She was relived that Kim didnt mind her cluelessness to martial arts, but he was willing to help her figure it out. That thought made her happy she joined the club.
"Okay! Sounds great, how about a medium?" she asked, following him over to where he had instructed.
Kayla kept quiet and listened to his instructions and sat on the mat.
"Yes, I can..." Kayla faltered at her response and started again, "I've done, and I know, some basic stretches; gotta stretch before a run and after." she added, kind of as an afterthought.
Her body felt rather stiff as she stretched her long legs along with Kim, she wasn't very fit, that was a clear. She winced a bit as she moved one of her legs and cursed under her breath, making a small mental note to start doing more sports.
Because, oh my gods, this hurts.
As Kim gestured for her to stand up, Kayla sighed in relived and her legs shook a little as she rose. Kim left for a moment, and took a bag of gear.
"Drills, yes." Kayla had been looking forward to to this part, she really had been. "Punches, yes. Kicks, sort of? Blocks, absolute no."
Kayla didn't like to admit that there was something she didn't know. But she didn't want to delay or embaress herself so she was just going have to be honest.
"I've been better," she admitted, but tried to smile about it and laugh it off.@Kim Sato(Aoki), @Bailey Glade

Daphne turned her head towards Kim's direction, waving back to the white-haired boy. Everyone here sure was nice, and she was incredibly lucky that the president of the club decided to help her out. "Yep! He's a seventh year-and a really big fan of the Karate Kid-I'm lucky that he didn't graduate yet, I really did need help during the first month here. Although I ended up getting it from other students rather than him, including you now. I'm really grateful that I've had only positive experiences so far. And I don't mind at all! It shouldn't matter what you wear unless it's a big championship or official match anyway when you're way more experienced than me!" She continued to follow after Bailey with a big smile on her face. She once more looked at the other members here, she planned to speak with them later. Daphne was still a bit shy and didn't want to overwhelm herself so soon. "Um..well, I did stretch before I got here, so I'd like to learn the form first! That way when we spar I know how to stand at least." She had seen a lot of stances in the movies but she wasn't about to insult Martial Arts by copying fiction, she would be respectful and await Bailey to teach her the proper positioning.

There was a time when Haley wanted to forget a lot of things and in order to do so, she did sports. At some point, Quidditch training was no longer enough for her. She started going running, training with her own weight and had some private boxing lesson with Charles. Haley didn't want to forget anymore, but the love of sport remained and while she vowed never again to rashly break someone's nose, she had her eye on martial arts. The thought, however, quickly faded into oblivion as Haley saw no chance of testing it here at Hogwarts.
But the young Gryffindor was wrong. Kim had put up some posters in the Gryffindor Common room, but Haley had overlooked them all. Luckily for her, he had approached her one day by chance and, completely surprised and happy at the same time, she agreed to his proposal to come and take part. It sounded exactly like what she had been looking for and the desire was back, as if it had never been forgotten.
Haley didn't know how to dress, she probably wouldn't even have the right choice of clothes so she decided to put on her normal sports outfit. Unfortunately for her, she had misplaced the note with the time and place and found it again much too late, she was definitely not on time and was considering not going at all. She didn't want to be late and interrupt the training but she also didn't want to be rude and not accept Kim's invitation. Besides, she WANTED to attend and to learn martial arts. In the end, she decided to attend the meeting anyway, even if she was late.
Cautiously, the red-haired girl entered the room. Her hair was tied in a high braid. It seemed that everyone was already busy training and Haley thought about leaving again, but she forced herself to stay. She cleared her throat before speaking a little louder into the room "Hey guys! I am so so sorry for being late. Is it okay if I still join you?" She looked apologetically at the unfamiliar and familiar faces.
"For those of you who don't know me, I'm Haley Rose by the way." She added quickly with a quick raise of her hand in greeting before nervously waiting for a response.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Kim nodded at Kayla's words. Medium was a good choice. It meant you were seriously interested in pursuing the sport to the best of your ability. But at the same time, you also knew your limits. There were so many rookies who either took on too much at once and burnt out, or didn't do enough and lost interest. Kim nodded as Kayla stated that she knew basic stretches and why it was important to do so. That was a good thing, he didn't need to explain that aspect to her then. Moving onto the idea of doing drills, Kim listened as Kayla spoke, letting him know what kind of experience she had before. Punches she knew how to do. Kicks she kind of did and blocks she didn't know at all. Gotcha. He thought for a little. "Okay. The first thing I'll teach you is the basic stance for defense. You need to know how to do a good defense. It's much the same as with Defense Against the Dark Arts class. You need to learn more about the dark arts in order to be able to protect yourself against them." Kim said and took on a basic guard stance. The boy's left foot was placed forward and his right foot was placed slightly back. "If you are right handed, place your left foot forward and your right foot behind a little." The white haired boy said. This was the first step for her to master. "If you are left handed, please do the opposite." Kim added and then raised his hands up in front of him. "Now curl your hands into fists and raise them up to around your mouth, the left hand a bit in front of the right hand." Kim told Kayla and waited for the girl to follow his instructions. Once she did, he'd take a look and correct her form and stance. It was around this time that the door opened again and a familiar face came into view. A familiar voice was heard a few seconds later and Kim glanced over to see Haley standing there. "Haley! You made it!" He exclaimed, happy she had decided to come. Here was Damion yet again in the same place as Kim. Great! Damion was not subtle about his affections. He had to yet say something about the whole thing. But well he was doing a bang up job on keeping it under the radar. He had always been so open about things that it was hard for him to sometimes be subtle about it. Probably subtlety was not his strong suit. Well he was not being openly gushly about the boy. That was a good thing. He would be embarrassed if he did something to show how he was feeling about Kim. He might not have been ready to admit it to himself.
Yes he had a crush on the guy. And yes he was trying to follow him but no he was not going to tell him that just yet. Well not till he knew how his heart felt about Kim.
Kim! Kim!
He shook his head. He couldn't be thinking about it.
Damn! He was late. He had never been late to something. But well it was good that Kim was talking. He heard what Kim was saying and making a mental note of it. He knew that martial arts was no joke. One wrong move and everything was haywire.
He got into the last line and watched as Kim instructed them. He did his best to follow and try not make googly eyes at Kim.

Bailey and Kim- they were friends. Not dating, not in a romantic relationship like the rumors said. Just best friends. Bailey, after reflecting on this topic, could see why people thought they were dating. They were rarely seen without each other, Bailey could be caught holding his hand- when dragging him places, they hung out together without anyone else, like best friends do. So many things to support the rumors.
Bailey and Daphne were having a lovely conversation. “That’s awesome!! Maybe I could meet him one day, it’s nice to know other people are also fans of Karate Kid!”
Daphne mentioned bailey having more experience than her, and this made Bailey smile and glow with pride.
“I do have the experience and the ability to lead and teach. The only other person I know that’s as skilled or as good at the Martial Arts as I am has to be Kim- I’m so lucky to have him in my life.”
Bailey blushed at that, despite the fact that it was true. She loved Kim as her best friend, nothing more. Though if she went around making comments like that.. people definitely are going to be convinced we’re dating
Daphne mentioned wanting to learn form first, so she’s stand a chance at sparing.
Bailey smiled and was about to start when another person entered - Haley Rose, a fellow third year. Kim seemed to know her, which made sense as they were both Griffindors.
Bailey excused herself, apologizing to Daphne. “I am so sorry- let me welcome her, and ask if she’d like to join us or Kim, and I’ll be right back I promise.”
Bailey approached Haley with a smile. She said “Hey Haley! Welcome! My name is Bailey Glade, a fellow third year? It’s nice to see you here! And don’t worry about being late, people come and go here. We’re a little more relaxed compared to some other clubs.”
A pause, a heartbeat passed, and then bailey continued. “Both Kim and I are instructing, so you can join with one of us. I would love to instruct you, but I am sure Kim is as eager as I am, so I’ll leave the decision up to you!”
Next Damion white, a fourth year Ravenclaw entered and went over to where Kim was. Bailey waived at him, but he seemed zoned in on Kim and what Kim was doing, so she let Kim handle him.
Bailey walked over to Daphne, and said “Are you ready to start?”

Daphne turned to the entrance to see the red haired girl enter the room, not saying anything as she announced herself. She had been a tad bit late herself so obviously she wouldn't judge, the blonde girl smiling a bit as the happy Kim went over to greet the girl. They all seemed to be older years, she wondered what she would be like when she was older...maybe she'd have more friends. Or just stay in the background quiet, nothing was wrong with that.. Daphne then turned her attention back to Bailey, the smile becoming wider on her face. "Definitely! He's around Hogwarts somewhere, probably causing mischief as usual." She chuckled, pausing her next words when Bailey went to greet Haley as well. She watched as another person entered before Bailey walked back over to her. "Yes, I'm ready! It looks like a lot of people are interested in Martial Arts Club. Do you think that there will be tournaments in the future? Big matches similar to Quidditch ones?" She eagerly asked. Daphne wasn't sure how many students were interested in martial arts altogether, but with there being diversity in both houses and years, she was sure word of it would easily spread.
