2022, Stage 1 Ravenclaw vs. Hufflepuff: Match 2

Talk about overkill.

Dori went in search for their wand, finding it quickly enough to where they wouldn't be out of the game that long. They turned back to see their partner, Logan, absolutely covered in flames. Their heart sank as they watched the flames lick up Logan's robes. As Dori slowly watched the small chances of them winning burn away. Could they get a break for once?

This was just ridiculous. Logan could feel the flames licking at her robes, slowly creeping up them as she managed to get the blindfold untangled from her hair. She could already tell it was going to be a mess to get her hair untangled after this, although at this rate it was all going to burn off before she got the chance to. "WHY?" She called out in question as she was hit with Incendio twice. At this point her robes were covered in flames and she was bounced around on her feet, attempting to sooth the severe burning coming through her robes.

While the Hufflepuffs scrambled to regain their footing in this duel, Dee wasn't going to waste the extra free shot they'd been given. A single exchange of spells could prove decisive in a duel, she'd seen it often enough, so she would make use of any opportunity she got.

The stream of flames she conjured struck true, as did the almost identical spell from Callie's wand, and Dee paused for a moment, feeling more fascinated than guilty as she watched Logan's attempt to evade the fire eating at her robes. Why was a silly question in a duel, they'd all signed up for this, the burns and the blows, your peers and friends not letting up until your body gave out. Dee had come out of a month-long coma only two weeks ago, but she didn't expect anyone to give her a break for it. If she did, she wouldn't be on this stage.

"You can always forfeit if you want out," she replied, although she doubted that Logan was expecting an answer. These were words Dee might have spoken in challenge or even mockery in a different situation, but were a perfectly earnest suggestion in this one. If Logan expected them to go easy on her - Dee couldn't see why - this was clearly not the place for her.

Truth be told Callie’s brain was on another planet right now. Rather than being entirely focused on the duel she couldn’t quite stop thinking about various circus acts. There was just something fascinating about acrobatics and clowns in general…wait there was a duel going on! Enough about clowns, she was enough of a clown already.

As it stands, Ravenclaw just couldn't wait to get rid of Logan Baird. In tandem, Dealla and Callie cast different offensive spells of their own, landing both hits on the poor Hufflepuff already cloaked in painful flames.

Logan, though she tried, couldn't handle all her injuries anymore, succumbing to them just as she was able to cast her own spell to retaliate. Unfortunately, it just barely missed its target.

Dorion, seeing this, could not just stand by and watch. Their Flipendo hit Callie square in the chest, dealing considerable damage and closing the gap between the now 2-vs-1 duel.

Will Hufflepuff be able to turn this around?

With Dorion still in peak condition, the answer could still be positive, Dmitri thought.

Logan looked like she was on her last leg, but Dee had also seen how much Dori could heal with just a spell. Better to not take any chances. It seemed Callie had a similar thought, her spell joining Dee's, and both struck true. The Hufflepuffs, on the other hand, had apparently given up on keeping Logan conscious, and neither attempted to heal past the damage.

Dee winced slightly. That might have been overkill, but then, it wasn't like she hadn't suggested that Logan forfeit instead just about a minute ago. Still, Hufflepuff was a duellist down, she was still unscathed, and this was looking really good for them. Had duelling always been this easy, she wondered?

Much like her duelling partner, Callie found herself rather surprised that Logan had seemingly opted to forfeit rather than continue with their rather annoying healing. However she wasn't so surprised that it managed to pull her thoughts away from clowns and the circus in general. Just like usual it was as though a monkey playing the drums was constantly jamming in her head. In fact the drumming was so prominent that Callie had started to hum and occasionally drum her wand against her thigh.

In the wake of Logan going down, the duel calmed down. Ravenclaw took no risks, using the moment to heal Callie. They had the advantage in a two vs one, so they just needed to ensure they could both stay on their feet to keep that advantage.

While they did that, Dorion didn't do much of anything. Perhaps they were dealing with the loss of their teammate, needing the moment to mentally prepare to face two people alone. Perhaps they were working through the pain caused by previous hits. Whatever the case, there would be no spells crossing the platform, Dealla and Callie maneuvering themselves into a better position.

Did they have a love for just…standing there? Callie was a tad baffled by their course of action but at this point she was just glad to no longer feel like she got hit by a truck. Being hit by spells in a duel sucked. Sucked more than those stupid sour gum balls that claim to call themselves sweets. Blasphemy.

A quick healing spell to keep Callie on her feet, then Dee directed her attention back across the stage in case Dorion intended to attack her for a change... but no. Not Callie, either, this time. Nor healing. Huh. Dee gave Callie a confused glance, but shrugged. This duel felt a tad too easy.
