Lilian was born on Halloween in 2010 as the first (and last child) of Samantha White and Ben Lee. She was born in Hamburg, a city in northern Germany. However, she did not grow up as a city girl. Her parents owned a cottage as small as the village it was located in. Lilian was one of very few children in the village and from the very first day of "Kindergarten" (pre-school) she knew every other child her age. Lilian loved growing up running around the fields or exploring the woods with her friends. One of her first memorys is from when she was 5 years old and climbed the highest tree of the forest and looking down on the village. She still remembers the feeling of freedom and pure joy as well as the exhaustion and the burning pain of a bunch of scrapes afterwards. Lilian still holds these memories dear to her heart.
At the age of six, Lilian started school in Germany. The village she lived in didn't have a school so she had to commute by bus everyday. The first day of school was really scary for her, as it was the first time, she met new children her age. Of course, all her friends from "Kindergarten" were there with her, but she was scared nontheless. Luckily, everyone was nice and she made a lot new friends quickly. Lilian wanted her life to never change.
However, without her knowing, her parents fought a lot. Her father had cheated on her mother and when Lilian was 7 years old, he filed for divorce and left. Lilian was devastated as she has always been closer to her Dad. And if that wasn't enough, her mother decided to move back to her home country - England. Lilian didn't even know any English and now she had to move to England with the woman, she blamed for her Dad leaving. Lilian started to resent her mother. She took my Dad from me by driving him away and now she takes my home and my friends away by draging me to a country I can't even understand anyone in?

Lilian stayed at home being home schooled for 5 months learning basic English. Then she returned to school, when year 3 of primary school started. Of course, Lilian was still behind on every topic. She hadn't been to school in too long and had fallen behind on every subject as her mother only taught her English and even that barely helped Lilian in school. Sure, she could communicate with her classmates somehow, but they always made fun of her broken English, even later on, when she hab much improved. Lilian was, from the first day of school, an outcast. Noone spent time with her, most people ignored her altogether. Those were the people Lilian liked, the others often weren't pleasant to be around - pushing her of the swing, throwing snowballs in her face or tripping her. Lilian hated school.
Being at home was barely any better though. Her Mom was often gone, busy with work, so Lilian was left alone. She learned how to take care of herself quickly - she cooked, went grocery shopping, cleaned the house, did her homework, read a lot and drew. She drew a lot, at first only scribbles in a notebook, later she drew on bigger canvases. She would usually paint her home in Germany, the woods and the fields, the cottage, the bus stop and all the animals she spent hours watching. Slowly, she build a new routine in this new home she hated and she was getting used to the idea of being alone forever. She still missed her Dad and the countryside though.

When Lilian was 9 years old, her mother asked her to be home early one day. Lilian didn't think anything of it. That's just how Mom is, always telling me what to do, never asking what I want. She came home straight after school and went to her room to do her homework. At 6pm her mother knocked on her door, asking her to come downstairs. When Lilian arrived in the living room, she was confused, seeing a strange man sitting there. Soon, that confusion turned to anger, when her mother explained to Lilian, that the man - Kyle Parker - was her boyfriend. "Your what? Boyfriend? Since when?", Lilian gasped in shock. "Is he the reason we moved here? Is he the reason Dad left? Did you ruin my life for him?" Lilian screamed the last words at her mother. Her thoughts ran wild and she didn't even hear her mothers answers to all her question. She was too angry to listen, too angry to stop herself from screaming at her mother, that she hated her, that she wished to have a different mother and to leave her alone. Leaving her mother shocked, Lilian then ran up back to her room. She grabed a backpack and started putting clothes in. She wanted to get out of that house, away from her mother, back to Germany where things used to be alright. When her mother showed up in her door and started talking to her, Lilian screamed at her once more: "SHUT UP! GO AWAY!" Then the door all of a sudden slammed shut but Lilian didn't have time to think about the how and why of that happening, she had to get away. So she opened the window, grabbed her backpack and started climbing out. However, she lost her grip on the stones, that had been wet from rain. She fell, but the fall seemed to be really slow and landing on the ground didn't hurt her. Confused but glad, Lilian ran as fast as she could away from the house. She had a good headstart, when her mother could finally get the door to open and found the bedroom empty.
While her mother called the police, Lilian ran and ran until she couldn't run anymore. She hid everytime she saw a person or a car and moved toward the outskirts of the town. She didn't know where to go to but at first she wanted to leave the city she hated. Shortly after she had left the town, it started to rain again and before she knew, she was soaking wet. Freezing she walked on the side of the road, now ignoring the cars in the road. One of the cars was driven by an elderly man who informed the police of a little girl walking in the countryside in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm. Shortly after, the police picked Lilian up and brought her back to her mother, who had been worried sick.
After the policemen had left, Lilians mother sat down with her daughter and for the first time in almost three years, they had a proper talk. Her mother explained to Lilian the reasons for the divorce, why they moved and how the relationship with Kyle started. Lilian on the other hand told her mother how much she missed Germany, her Dad and her friends. She told her about her troubles at school and how lonely she had been. That night, mother and daughter finally got to understand each other.

After that night, life went back to normal - a changed normal. Lilians mother was home more often, spending more time with her daughter, sometimes even bringing her boyfriend over. In the beginning, Lilian wasn't happy about the relationship but she knew Kyle made her Mom happy so she accepted him. And over the course of the next 2 years, she even grew to like him. And when they moved in with him, she was excited to find out, he lived a little southern of Nottingham, near a beautiful park. School was still torture for her, but Lilian was starting to feel home again.
Once more, everything changed for her though. One day, a strangely dressed person knocked on the door and asked to speak to Lilian and her mother. They explained how Lilian was magic and how there is this magical school. Lilian could believe what she was hearing. She hadn't believed in magic in what felt like ages and if she is magic, shouldn't she know? How did they know if she didn't? Her Mom had a bunch of questions as well, but the person took a lot of time to explain everything. They gave them a list of school supplies, and dircetions where they would find them. And before Lilian knew, she was in a magical train on her way to a magical school...
