Closed Exploding Cereal!! PV Rebecca Loops & Taisia Elidine Stroudefielde

The Great Hall was somewhat crowded on the morning of Taisia's prank. She was sitting across from someone she didn't really know, and they both greeted each other with a simple 'morning,' before lapsing into silence. Taisia was rescued by the call of her friend Irina Sousa. She smiled and waved toward the girl. "Hey Nina! I'm pretty good-" before she had the chance to ask her how she had been, Nina told her Loops was calling her, pointing towards the far end of the Slytherin Table. Taisia searched and saw a boy she recognised. He and Irina hung out a lot and she recognised him from the Quidditch Game. Taisia turned around just as Irina mentioned that it must have been her he had been calling. "See you soon Nina!" Taisia just didn't realise how soon it would be.

She was getting a bit cold so she decided to move to the other side of the table. It also meant she could escape from the awkward chatter (or perhaps lack of) with the girl she was in front of. The new position gave her a nice view of Nina and Loops who were laughing. She scooped her cereal and started to chew before feeling some sort of popping sensation in her mouth. Her eyes grew wide. "Oh!" She exclaimed. Taisia hoped it was meant to happen- she had tried a new cereal today. Did it have that popping candy Althea's friend was always talking about? Although it didn't make sense to put candy in cereal. She placed another spoonful. Unbeknownst to her, there were a lot more candies in this bite. Her mouth began to explode before she realised they were exploding bon bons! Someone had put exploding bon bons in her cereal! She had to find out who.

Milk splashed onto her chin as she dropped the spoon in her bowl. Glancing around the hall, Taisia considered her options.

The house elf who had made her breakfast? Too far fetched. The girl she had originally been sitting across from? Too uncomfortable. It wasn’t likely to have been any of the people who she considered her friends. They were close enough.

And then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Irina Sousa. Almost dying of laughter. Seriously, the girl had tears pouring from her eyes.
“Nina!” A few heads from the Ravenclaw table turned towards her, but shortly they turned back around.
Nina must have done it when she came over before. And that boy, Loops, must be her accomplice!

She stood and left her bowl, walking towards the Slytherin table. Irina and Loops watched her- surely they could tell she had realised it was them. However, she acted casual,
“Hey Nina, Loops! What’s up? Enjoying your cereal?”

She emphasised the word cereal, glancing between the two.
“You know, my cereal was rather… exciting today.
She took a seat at the green and silver table. Full of others like them. It would be hard to get two Slytherins back, but she was sure she would think of something- after all, she was a Ravenclaw.

Rebecca watched delightedly as Stroudefielde's cereal bubbled and popped with a loud crack! and hid a smile behind his hand.

In a surreal moment of deja vu he recalled a brand of cereal he'd loved as a kid with a similar effect (snap, crackle, pop!). But of course, with the addition of magic, this was a bit more explosive than Rice Crispies.

"Wicked," he agreed with Rina, but faltered at her next question. On one hand, Stroudefielde could probably put together who'd pranked her, given that he and Irina had warned her at the Quidditch match.

On the other hand... she had no proof. Even if she suspected the pair, she hadn't caught them in the act. They were innocent until proven guilty!

"We probably should, just to be nice," he said slowly. "But it would be kind of funny if--"

Stroudefielde's eyes alighted upon the pair, and he saw them narrow slightly with suspicion.

"Nina!" she called out, and Rebecca kept an innocent smile on fixed firmly on his face as he watched her approach.

"... I think she might know. Deny everything." he hissed quietly into Irina's ear.

Stroudefielde stalked up to the Slytherin table with a practiced air of nonchalance that was almost believable, disregarding the fact that it didn't quite fit someone who'd had their cereal explode in their face a minute ago.

“Hey Nina, Loops! What’s up?" she greeted, smiling. "Enjoying your cereal?”

He didn't miss the emphasis she put on cereal. His own smile didn't waver.

"Taisia! Fancy seeing you here! Mmm yes, we only have the best bog standard cereal, here in Slytherin," he assured her.

He thought he saw her purse her lips.

“You know, my cereal was rather… exciting today."

He looked at Irina with wide innocent eyes. "Oh! We saw! It did look rather combustive over there! Weird, innit? Thank God for Slytherin cereal. Boggiest of standards for us though."

"We probably should, just to be nice. But it would be kind of funny if--" But Loops wasn't able to finish that sentence. He had been interrupted by Tai's sudden call, "Nina!", she was glaring at them from the Ravenclaw's table. Irina that was looking at Rebecca, turned her head quickly to stare at her blonde-haired friend. She kept her smile trying to look innocent, but guessed that the glint in her eyes and her still cheeky expression didn't added much to her play.

Taisia approached their table and she felt Loops leaning his head towards her ear, "... I think she might know. Deny everything." he instructed quietly. Irina felt the urge to flinch and shiver at hearing his voice so close to her. Her keen hearing sometimes doesn't help at all! Loops of course, didn't knew about it and she tried to not show his effects on her.

“Hey Nina, Loops! What’s up?" Tai greeted them with a smile "Enjoying your cereal?” Irina noticed how she said 'cereal' and that, coupled with her forced, casual smile, failed in her attempt to pretend she wasn't accusing them of being responsible for her prank. But Loops was unbreakable keeping his unaltered innocent smile. Irina couldn't help herself from admiring her friend for that! She was struggling to keep a calm smile, as if to say 'she has nothing to do with that!' She wanted to let herself fall into laughing! "Taisia! Fancy seeing you here! Mmm yes, we only have the best bog standard cereal, here in Slytherin," Loops said to her.

"Hey Tai! How are you in this..." she had to purse her lips to keep from laughing and compose herself before continuing,"in this beautiful morning?" again she pretended to cough when she almost let a sound of her amusement left her lips.

“You know, my cereal was rather… exciting today." Taisia revealed to them as she sat down at the Slytherin table in the seat opposite them. Irina took Loops hand underneath the table and squeezed it gently mentioning for his help. She would reveal them sooner or later. It was very difficult to resist the urge to laugh in Tai's face. Loops looked at her with wide innocent eyes like he had understood what was happening in her head, "Oh! We saw! It did look rather combustive over there! Weird, innit? Thank God for Slytherin cereal. Boggiest of standards for us though." Okay...and that was it! Irina exploded into an uncontrollable laughter! Tears filled her eyes and she covered her mouth with one hand and her stomach with the other. "Oh Tai!" she said in a cry, "That was hilarious!! In our defense that bet was your idea birdy!" she confessed with a grin and showing her Ravenclaw friend what was left of the exploding bonbons on her hand, "See? Guilty I am!"

She scowled, glancing at Irina’s reactions.

Rather combustive, boggiest of standards?

Loops was rather good at this game. But Nina? She had just failed, as she exploded into laughter. Taisia frowned at the two of them. Anyone could see she was mad, hear the hardness in her voice. But those emotions masked the giggles that had nearly escaped her moments before.

"In our defense that bet was your idea birdy!"

Yes. Yes it was her idea. But they had to think she was still mad about the whole thing, that she thought they had gone too far.

“I was kinda hungry this morning… now I have nothing to eat!”

If it worked, she would be able to get them back when they least expected. Taisia morphed her face into a frown and sighed deeply like she was thinking things over. Already a plan was forming in her mind on how to get them back. But to ensure they had completely forgotten, she would wait until after the break.

“I mean, do you think I can get seconds?”

When they would both say no, Tai would feign a look of disappointment. But at any moment, she would break out into a set of giggles and they would know it was fake. She had to fight to keep her mouth turned down, probably looking like she was having a lip seizure.

Her lips! She was wearing her colour changing lipstick. Hopefully they didn’t realise it hadn’t changed since the start of breakfast.

Rebecca groaned as Irina folded under pressure like wet tissue paper, but joined in with her laughter as well. He held up his hands in exaggerated surrender. It was all Irina's idea, he mouthed silently to Stroudefielde while Irina's back was turned. Not strictly true, but he wanted to avoid any revenge pranks until at least after Christmas.

Stroudefielde was scowling, but she seemed to be taking it about as well as Rebecca could have hoped. He was proud of this prank, and in the back of his mind he was already devising a few ways that they could repeat it (but BETTER!) in the future.

Rebecca balked a bit as Stroudefielde asked about sharing some of their food. An older Slytherin prefect was eyeing the huddle of first years with some suspicion, and he suddenly realized that he didn't actually know if people from other houses were allowed to eat at different tables. "Er-- maybe not."

He was struck with a horrible thought. If Taisia made a big enough fuss, a prefect might come over to investigate, and she had enough evidence (and Irina's confession-- Merlin he really needed to talk to her about what NOT to do during an interrogation) to land the both of them in a detention. "Feel free though!" he stammered out quickly. "Take anything you fancy, our treat!"

But to Rebecca's immense relief, Stroudefielde had already burst into giggles. He flushed pink as he realized she'd been poking fun, but his embarassment didn't prevent a genuine smile from spreading on his face. Taisia seemed to be one of the good sort of Ravenclaws.
