Why, just why did the two have to leave again? It was work. It was the thing that clung onto their minds every hour of the day. It was merely a moment ago when the two adults had said their goodbyes and vanished into thin air, like how they always did.

Her parents loved to travel and explore various places but work had always gotten in their way. They had picked Falmouth to be the choice of their visit, it was an odd choice but it was one of the very few places in England where the sea was in view. She was promised to be brought to the beach, but now that she was left alone in one of the hotel suites, she doubt the promise would be fulfilled. The young girl didn't mind the least, she was used to them leaving even on such occasions. Others might say it was dangerous to leave a twelve year old by herself. The thing was, her parents had been doing so ever since she was 8 years of age.

Even then, a twelve year old could get bored and restless easily. It had been three hours since they left in the morning and now the sun shone brightly through the glass of the window. It was afternoon and her stomach was feeling it as well as it grumbled for food. She was aware that there was a cafe down at the lobby. She stuffed her phone in her purse as well as two £50 notes and her 28 cm wand which had barely fit. The girl then took the elevator to the lobby.

The doors of the elevator slid open with a ding. The cafe, it was so close to the entrance of the building. She couldn't stand being cooped up in the building forever. Her parents had told her with stern voices not to leave the building, However, being an impulsive Gryffindor, she couldn't help but leave. It would only be less than an hour. They wouldn't return so soon.

It wasn't long before a bustling market was found. It was easy, for the girl, she had followed a middle age woman who was pushing along cart filled with various vegetables. She would probably find something to fill her stomach from the many vendors.

It was obvious that she wasn’t a local. She was different from her accent to how she walked and how she was dressed. She had worn a dress and a pair of flats and her hair was neatly braided down her shoulder. It would seemed odd for someone dressed so formally to be in a marketplace. It didn’t bother her much that she was not from the small town, she was a tourist anyways. The market people seem friendly when she wandered over their stall to inspect the goods they were selling. If the girl hadn’t left the building, she would be dying of boredom already.

Clutched in an arm was a basket of pasteries and snacks and her purse in another. She had almost spent half of what was in her purse. She couldn’t help it, if something caught her eye, it would be hers within a few seconds. Aurelia glanced down at her watch. She gasped. What seemed like twenty minutes had been an hour. For all she knew, her parents might be already back in the hotel.

The marketplace was a confusing maze as she tried to find a way out. With every corner she turned, were more stalls. The crowd was not helping her the very least. After five minutes to no avail of finding an escape, the girl realized she was lost. She had swore she had saw the same shop at least three times. It was as if she had been running in circles. She was not going to stop searching. As she turned around a corner, she ran into something, it caused her to lose her balance and fall backwards. Her head hit the floor with a thud.

Ow,” she mumbled as she sat up and  rubbed the back of her head, wincing.

Clarke's last summer before going off to Hogwarts was supposed to be relaxing. He was supposed to be spending most of his days hanging around his friends, visiting his father, reading in his room, and practicing flying outside. His mother had a different idea though.

He had received an owl that morning from his father who was visiting London with his new girlfriend. The note was rambling, going on and on about the sites and how next time, Clarke should go with him. He couldn't help but roll his eyes fondly at his father's words. He sounded so excited but Clarke know he'd never actually go with his dad to London. It just wouldn't work out. And his mother definitely wouldn't like it.

As he sat at the Kitchen table reading the letter his mom waltzed in with a smiling face. "Oh, Dear," She said in her sing song voice, "Would you go into town? I need a few things and I have just been so busy with my work," she whisked her wand and a tiny scroll grew three sizes and unraveled itself.

"Sure," Clarke said and stood up, he grabbed the scroll where it was floating in the air and unrolled it, reading the items she had on the list. Most were things he could get from the town market but there were one or two things he'd need to visit specific stores for. He sighed.

"It's good to stay busy!" His mom said and gave him a pat on the forehead, "trust me. And the fresh air will be good for you! You need to get out more."

"I get out enough" Silas mumbled petulantly.

His mother just smiled at him and waltzed back out of the kitchen, "thank you again dear!" she called over her shoulder.

Clarke shook his head, deciding to just go out to town like his mom asked. He grabbed his messenger bag from the front room and dropped the scroll unceremoniously in. The town itself was largely full of muggles, but there were a few stores that had back rooms catered to wizards who knew the passwords. Clarke knew basically all of them by heart at this point.

He set out on the main road towards town. It wasn't too bad of a day to go for a walk, the town that was usually cloudy had some spots of sun and so Clarke rejoiced every time he felt the warm sun on his skin. He was almost completely rejuvenated when he got to town. But his mind must have been too far in the clouds because right as he turned the final corner towards the market he felt himself collide with something.

"Oh!" He said in surprise as he saw the girl on the ground. He had barely stumbled himself, and felt terrible as she rubbed the back of her head. "I'm so sorry!" He said, almost pleadingly, reaching down to help her up.

I’m so sorry,
Aurelia looked up only to see a boy around her age reaching to help her up. She had been clumsy not to watch where she was going and now she was on the floor with a bruising head. At least it wasn’t bleeding and she wasn’t in a coma. The hit on her head had been that hard but the girls head had a built in helmet from many bludgers flying at her when she had organised a pick up quidditch game in her first year in Hogwarts. There was also an incident where she was hit in the head by a golf ball in mid air.

I’m fine, ” She had said, as she stood up, not taking the boy’s extended hand to help her. She could stand on her own. She wiped her hand down her skirt to rid of any dirt particles and smoothen out the crumpled hem.

I really should watch where I go.” She laughed slightly.

The boy probably was a local and he would know the direction to the hotel if he was. It didn’t hurt to ask, after all, she desperately needed to get back to the building.

Is there any chance if you could point me to the direction of... She hesitated for a moment. She hadn’t remembered the name of the Hotel. It was by luck if it was the nearest one.

The direction of the nearest Hotel?” She had continued.

Then she noted that her hands left light and that she wasn’t holding on to her purse or the basket of pasteries. She gasped as she saw that on the floor, a distance away was a beige coloured Chanel purse with the tip of her wand sticking out of it.

She scurried to pick it up and forcefully pushed the wand down back into where it should be. She knew that she could get in deep trouble with the ministry of magic if any muggles were to know of magic.

She turned back around to face the boy. Hopefully he hadn’t seen the magical object. She waited for him to show her the way.

Clarke quickly pulled his hand away worrying that he had offended her in anyway. He could be so oblivious sometimes, and he really hated that about himself sometimes. When she told him she was fine he smiled lightly, happy about that at least. The fall seemed like a pretty bad one from his perspective.

When she asked for directions to the nearest hotel he tapped lightly at his chin as he thought about it. He was plotting the quickest route when he saw her react and his eyes followed her as she hurried to pick up a bag that had fallen to the ground. He was stunned to see that there was a wand tip poking out of it.

AS she turned back to him waiting for the directions he couldn't really find the words. What were the odds that he'd run into some stranger from out of town who happened to be a witch. He stood there just staring at her for a few beats, not sure how to really handle this situation. Should he reveal himself too? Should he just ignore it and help her to the hotel? They were still surrounded by muggles out here in the market place so it would be risky but she seemed around his age. And a want meant that she was already in school, maybe Hogwarts!

"What was that?" he asked, pointing towards her bag before shaking his head, that was rude, "I mean, what school do you go to?" he asked, "I'm going to Hogwarts this year." He decided that either she would know exactly what he meant or that she would think he was crazy and walk away.

Aurelia expected the boy to show her the way, but instead, he stood there startled by something. Judging from his expression, the boy had definitely saw a glimpse of her wand. She pressed her her lips slightly into a thin line as the boy asked about what the object was. Aurelia ran through her mind a list of things she could do to avoid telling him what it was. The simpler option was to ignore his question.

The boy asked another odd one, he had asked which school she went to. Ever since she was young, her mother always reminded her not to give any information to strangers not matter how old they were. The boy seemed about his age. But Aurelia wasn’t about to tell him which school he was from. Her school was located in a thousand year old Scottish castle. She could lie to him about it.

Then the boy told her she was going to Hogwarts after summer ended. This in fact startled Aurelia slightly. It wasn’t common to be bumping into another member of the magical community in a muggle filled town. Even then, he was a stranger, a seemingly nice one. He had Aurelia revealed something about himself. Aurelia still needed to get back to the hotel, she still wasn’t sure if she knew the directions. Maybe he knew but was distracted from the sight of the wand which just had to fall from her purse.

Oh, Hogwarts? Blimey, I think you’ve heard me wrong, I’m looking for a Hotel not a school.” She had said. She immediately reconsidered using the word Blimey. It was a word used by muggles. Aurelia didn’t want to hold up time talking about wizarding stuff. She just needed him to simply point him to the direction of the hotel.

Clarke sighed and nodded deciding not to push her any further. His mother always taught him it wasn't polite to prod and he knew how important secrecy was in the wizarding world. And maybe she wasn't a witch at all but he was certain he knew what a wand was when he saw it. The muggles around here were used to some odd things happening because of how many wizards and witches were mixed in but maybe she just had a decorative purse in her bag.

"Yes it's down closer to the water, I can show you the way," He said, "If you ever get lost again trying to find your way back you can just follow the coast line to the left and you'll eventually see it," He said indicating a walk way that was right along the water. "But I know a short cut that'll get us there a lot quicker. It's just right down where the castles are too. You're lucky, I think everyone here knows the way there."

It was true, Falmouth was a fairly big tourist trap. Being on the southern tip meant it had some of the best weather and beaches everywhere, plus the large castles. The hotel he assumed she was staying at was the one everyone stayed at, and he knew exactly where it was. It was the hotel his mother moved into right after the divorce, when she didn't have her own place but didn't want to live with Clarke's father anymore.

Aurelia gave a small polite smile when the boy spoke, she was thankful her hadn’t press further to wether or not she was a witch. The boy began giving her directions about the hotel being along the coast of the beach. As much as she wanted to take a dip into the waters, she also needed to get to the hotelroom as soon as possible. The view of the sandy coasts wouldn’t help at all for she got distracted easily.

Then the boy offered to show her a shortcut cutting across some sort of castles. Castles? Even though she had questions, she pushed them down. She would request to see them when her parents returned later or if they were already in the hotel. She hoped the boy was leading her to the right one as she followed him.

She had followed the boy through the large crowd, and finally escaped the pushing bodies as he had led her down a small alley. Aurelia finally could breathe, there were only both of them there and the shouting and loud bargaining coming from the marketplace slowly faded away as they ventured further. She hoped he knew the way. Down the small alley was a few shops, more like the back of the shops. Aurelia hesitated when they were a few feet infront of the back of what seemed like a bar.

Two men, taller than her own father, were leaning against the cobblestone wall with mugs in hand. They glanced in their direction. It wasn’t a good sign. At the far end of the alley, where light was emitting from, she could see a white building, her hotel. The problem was that these two men were blocking the way.

Are you kids lost?” one of them asked, his voice was low and coarse.

N-no, were just passing.” Aurelia stammered. She glanced towards the boy as if to ask what she should do next.

Then she noticed the other was glancing down at her purse she had clutched in her hands. The golden universal C logo glimmered in the dim light, which had obviously captured their attention. He elbowed the other and said something inaudible in his ear. The smug that appeared after was not a good sign.

That’s a very nice purse you have, girl.” The man said afterwards. He put his almost empty mug on the ground and hobbled towards her and had stopped a few feet away.

T-thanks.” She said gulping.

Clarke gently grabbed her arm and tried to pull her forward, "Let's just go," He murmured. This wasn't usually a bad part of town but he also knew not to make eye contact or talk to strange men standing outside of bars. He had immediately gotten a bad vibe from them when he saw them out of the corner of his eye stepping into the alley way.

He wished he was allowed a wand already he knew magic outside of Hogwarts was forbidden but he also knew there were exceptions and he thought this could quickly turn into one of those exceptions. He just felt so vulnerable like this. They were just two kids and two adult men were staring down at them in a dark alley way.

Clarke just... he wanted to get out of there and was tugging on the girls arm to get out of there as soon as possible. If they just hurried down the street and made it out of the alleyway they'd be in the clear, with people around the men surely wouldn't try anything right? Part of Clarke's mind was telling at him to make a run for it, that even if she didn't follow along at least he'd be safe. But he already knew he couldn't do that, that already was not a possibility. Clarke wasn't the type to abandon anyone to save himself.

Aurelia knew what the men wanted. They wanted her purse. Almost everyone was aware how expensive any item from the brand Chanel was. Every inch of her screamed rich. She didn’t think through before stepping into a market wearing branded goods from her the pendant on her neck to the shoes on her feet. It was obvious that she wasn’t a local and now two men seemed like they were about to rob her.

She felt a gentle tug on her shoulder. The boy wanted her to turn back. Aurelia knew it was the safest thing to do, however. She could see the roof of the hotel peering from the tops of the buildings. She wasn’t going to turn back when she was so close to the hotel.

Maybe if she played it cool, she would be able to pass these men.

We’re in a rush, if you could-

You’re not going anywhere.” the man’s voice boomed as he took a step to his right, blocking the path.

I tell you what, if you hand over the purse and those shoes, we might let you pass.” the other man chuckled.

She knew it, they were about to rob her. Were they so desperate for money that they had to do so? Aurelia’s lips twisted into a scowl. She wasn’t going to give them her shoes or her purse so easily. They didn’t know what she was capable of.

She slipped her hand into the Chanel bag, her fingers fiddling around for the smooth wood of her wand. The man clearly noticed it and started towards her. The boy should run. She could handle them, but what if he got injured because of her. She had only been in Hogwarts for a year and wasn’t an expert in casting spells. A spell could easily go out of control.

Clarke eyed where he hand was in her bag and took a step forward, everything in him screaming to put himself between these men and that girl. Not because he didn't think she could handle herself but because he just couldn't resist being a protector, trying to take control of this situation that was rapidly spinning out of control. Clarke, however, didn't step completely in front of her, unsure of what she was about to do.

"We need to run," He said to her quietly still aware the men could probably hear him just fine, "or do something we can't just stand here."

He was pretty sure she was aware of that fact but now was not the time to really think over their actions. He was already trying to work up an excuse when he had to eventually tell his mom that a muggle attacked him. A muggle? really? bested her pureblood son? Oh she would be so offended by the fact. Even though Clarke didn't have a wand and didn't know any effective magic just yet.

But this girl, she could use magic and surely this fell under using it for self defence. So holding himself ready to jump in front of her if he needed he stared at her hard, willing her to do something, anything, that could give them time to get away.
