After Party
Even though the Pool Party was long over, there were still a few people hanging around. One of these people was Kalani. Her friends had all left to get back to their cabins, but she'd stuck around. Of course she'd stuck around; as long as the swimming section was open, she'd be there from now on. She didn't know if she'd be able to stop swimming in the Great Lake now. It was just so nice and peaceful.
Earlier on in the day, she'd found one of the magic orbs everyone had been talking about. Hers, which she'd found at the bottom of the lake, had given her the awesome power to blast water out of her hands! After twenty minutes of pure fun soaking her friends and blasting them into the water, the liquid in her hand had puttered, stuttered, and shuttered, and stopped coming. With a sigh, she'd resigned herself to soaking her friends normally. The other orbs that she touched from that point on had slipped right through her fingers and drifted off. She guessed that she wasn't allowed any more powers. As gutting as that was, she didn't mind too much. Other people deserved to soak their friends too!
After that she'd played a couple games of volleyball, and then gorged herself at the barbecue. She'd begrudgingly waited a half-hour or so before jumping back into the lake, and had then stayed in the water since then. The swimming area was mostly empty, and Kalani took the chance to fool around. She crawled out onto the bank, gave herself enough of a run up, and then ran at the pool and leaped in, trying to make it a clean dive. It wasn't quite how she wanted it, but now that she was in she swam straight to the bottom. She ran her hands over the sand on the bottom, then came to the top and broke the surface with a gasp. It'd been a good day, but she'd probably leave soon. It wasn't much fun on your own.

After Party
The Pool Party had come to an end after Emma had had an amazing time swimming around, she recalled the satisfying smell of barbequed hamburgers and grilled hotdogs. She hadn't even known there had still been food left, she had spent most of the time plummeting her nose under the water to look for golden enchanted orbs.
The water was nice and refreshing, it had calmed down after the many students had finished frantically searching for the spheres. She had been lucky enough to find an orb and she had been granted the ability to breathe underwater for twenty minutes. Unfortunately, she had discovered this in a not-so-good fashion. After the twenty minutes had subdued itself, she had been at the bottom of the lake. She had gotten a mouthful of water, and she hadn't adjusted her eyes to the water. She hadn't really opened her eyes underwater generally.
Although everyone had left the lake, she decided to leave the pool to get some of the delectable food provided by the professors. The brunette took the plate and ate by the lake, but she was extraordinary careful not to drop her food into the water.
After the twenty minutes, she made her way back into the lake by running and splashing up as much water as she could. It was pretty much soundless, except for one who had looked to have a passion of swimming herself. She made her way over to the raven-haired girl to introduce her, it was the least she could do to make a friend. After all, no one else had stayed to swim.
The young girl made her way over to the swimmer and made sure to wave to introducing herself, it felt right in the occasion. "Hi, I'm Emma." She was sure not to use her actual name, it was extremely tedious to her. The hard part was starting a conversation. "You like swimming to do you? You've got a better dive than me." She tied her hair up into a low ponytail to prevent it from getting in her hair. It was her standard way of letting others know she wasn't as girly as she appeared.

After Party
Kalani was just about to start swimming back to shore when movement caught her eye. She looked, and a girl waved at her from pretty close by. She waved back, smiling, and when she saw the girl was swimming to meet her she decided to meet her half-way. She slipped into a smooth breaststroke as she breached the distance between them, emerging and slicking her hair out of her face with a swipe of her hand. As her feet found the floor beneath her, the water came up to the base of her neck.
She smiled as the girl introduced herself, and visibly glowed at the praise. Her chin tipped up as she beamed at the taller Emma. She'd always been pretty confident in everything she did that had to do with swimming, but it felt nice to have somebody notice it. She watched the girl tie her long brown hair into a low ponytail. Kalani wished she could make something like that look nice; her only option was hair down, really.
Before anything else, she pulled her left arm up out of the water. She tilted so Emma could see, then vaguely gestured to the bracelets on her arm. She just hoped that Emma wouldn't care. When she was sure the girl had read them all she left her arm to fall back into the water. She pointed to Emma, then to the shore, and mimed diving. "Show me yours!" she signed, still beaming from ear to ear. She wanted to see if she was really better than Emma or not.

Emma was slightly confused, though she tried to stay humble. Could she not communicate with others, and how would she even discover her name? You needed to verbally produce something, or you could have spelled it in rocks... but that was tedious. Something had told her she had been communicating with signs, she understood most.
Her eyes watched as the girl lifted her arm up, apparently, she wanted her to read something after pointing to them. She wanted to think to herself, but in this case, she felt it'd be slightly better to speak. "Kalani nice to meet you," she smiled.
The brunette watched as the girl pointed from her to the shore, she wanted her to dive, and truthfully, she had never actually attempted to. Still, she smiled and speed-walked to the shore, slowly breaking into a jog. Here goes nothing, she thought to herself before jumping into the lake. While midst air, she put her hands in front of her and clapped her hands on top of each other. That's what people usually did on her mom's television, right?
Unfortunately, she had forgotten about most of her body. Her legs had been straight, but how did you stop yourself from belly-flopping into the water, and ending up with a gigantic red match on your abdomen? She was almost directly parallel with the water until she landed with a powerful crash. Emma broke the water and gave her a thumbs up, though she plugged her nose and submerged herself again, just to check on her stomach, sure enough, a red throbbing mark stood there.

As soon as the Ravenclaw jumped, Kalani realised that she'd made a mistake in asking. Maybe the girl used to be a good diver, but she'd gotten a little rusty, but the dive that she did wasn't really a dive at all. She fell into the water, sending up a pretty good splash all around her, but that wasn't the point of a dive. When the girl resurfaced, Kalani gave her something that was meant to be a smile, but was definitely more of a grimace.
Kalani slipped back into the water, swimming quickly towards Emma. It was a little deeper here, with the water coming up to her jawline. She was still grimacing, and lifted a hand in an 'okay' sign with a tilt of her head. "That looked sore," she signed, patting her stomach with a hand. It was sort of clear that Emma didn't really know how to dive, but maybe it was just a 'not anymore' situation.
Looking towards the shore, she got an idea. "C'mon, I'll teach you!" She signed enthusiastically. Never one to dislike physical contact - sometimes it was the only way she could communicate - she reached out and grabbed Emma's hand, wading through the water until there was enough of her out of the water to start running. When they were fully out of the water, she stopped. How did she learn to dive?
An old memory resurfaced. Kalani, four or five years old, on a small dock above the sea. Another girl, a few years older, showing her how to crouch on the edge of the water, lift her arms just right, then slip into the water like a dolphin. Kalani gave a determined nod, and still holding Emma's hand, sheshe lead her up onto a slightly higher bit of ground.
She let go of Emma's hand as she shuffled towards the edge. She crouched down and curled her toes around the earth. She tucked in her chin as she lifted her arms above her head into the easily recognisable diving pose. She let her body easily fall forward, and as her legs left the ground she straightened them out. Entering the water from a short height with no run up was nostalgic. She didn't come up from the water until she'd given Emma enough space to follow.

Emma had never really tried diving out for herself, more or less, even swam for a team. She was more of a cannonball type of girl, reckless and loud versus sleek and elegant. One thing was for sure, she wouldn't be attempting that again. The mark pulsed through more places than her stomach, the shock ran through her arms and upper thigh. She was just glad no one else had been there to witness the gigantic crash emitted by herself
As Kalani approached her, she shrugged and laughed. It was quite obvious she had never attempted a dive or even possibly seen one. If she had ever observed a dive for the first time, it'd be coming from the mute tween herself.
The brunette watched as Kalani patted her stomach, did it mean she had once made the same blunder or perhaps it wasn't that at all. Maybe she had just been checking on her current position, both were likely, yet she couldn't see her committing the same mistake she had.
Suddenly, the Gryffindor flashed an excited look on her face, though her expression just remained curious. Her head tilted slightly. "Huh - Whoa!" Her arm had just been snatched by the girl herself. Her legs kicked went instinctive as she tried to catch up to Kalani, though only a few inches behind her. She didn't dare snatch her hand back.
As the two came to a stop, she watched as Kalani took the lead, though hesitant of what her thoughts were. It hadn't even occurred to her that her hand had been freed from her grip as she took a step onto a rock. She looked at Kalani up and down, examining everything about her forthcoming plummet into the water. It didn't look hard to her, so why couldn't she get it correct, or even slightly accurate? Placing your arms in the correct position wasn't hard, it was more of the jump. Was it possible to jump at the correct angle consistently?
Though the Gryffindor hadn't broken surface, she was surely getting close, right? She could still see a faint picture of her still swimming underneath the water. There was no way you could learn to dive in two dives, though she didn't exactly classify her crash as a dive.
"You want me to dive?" Emma shouted. It seemed idiotic judging that Kalani was completely submerged, but there was no way she was going to get an even bigger bruise.

By the time Kalani breached the water and turned around, she'd thought Emma would be in the water. But she was still on the ledge, mouth and throat resting as she finished saying something that Kalani had missed. The Hawaiian had honestly expected Emma to get in and join her pretty quick - she knew that she'd gotten it just like that on her first time - but the girl was still standing there, not even crouched. Kalani just barely muffled a sigh as she once again swam back to the ledge.
The ledge wasn't very high above the water; Kalani very easily pushed her hands against it and pulled herself up next to the other swimmer. From here, she put a hand on Emma's back as she went down into a crouch position. She went back to the pose she'd held the first time; feet nudged to the edge, arms held up in the dive position, then she made a move like she would pitch forward again in the baby-dive. But she pulled herself up and looked back to Emma, trying to see if she was getting it.
"Easy!" she signed with a smile that was definitely trying to be gentle, but was just a bit too enthusiastic. She went back into the baby-dive pose, and let herself fall into the water again. This time she reemerged quickly, right at the base of the ledge. She looked up at Emma, and with a playful grin she gestured to her stomach, showing that she was all fine. She gave a thumbs up, then backed up a few strokes to give Emma a bit of space. She waved her arms like a workman bringing a plane into land, nodding to the swimmer in a sort of reassurance.

Apparently, her question had been answered. Only because she wanted to be nice, she nodded, though she was sure that she didn't want to dive again. Still, she replayed the video of Kalani diving over and over again till it had become a reoccurring thought. Honestly, the ledge next to the lake hadn't been that high from the water, but still, she could always find a way to mess up.
Emma's feet inched itself to the edge, not scared to fall, more like 'afraid to assault her stomach' once more. She tried to mimic the Gryffindor's crouching position, though it wasn't much of an effort. The starting position was nothing to her, it was about the jump. The clip cycled and cycled, trying to recall her arm position. Up, right? She thought to herself, clapping her hands above her head and straightening them as much as she could.
As Kalani showed, she let her body fall into the water, though she had to admit to pushing off a little. She felt her hands impact with the lake's water, and by the feel of it, it hadn't gone smoothly. There was no red mark, and that was an important plus. Breaking the surface of the water, she shrugged, an innocent, though nervous smile flashed on to her face. "Better? I guess," she said before letting out a laugh and breaststroking over to Kalani.

Kalani watched Emma carefully through narrowed eyes. As soon as she crouched, the Hawaiian could tell that this was going to go far better than the last time. She watched the girl tip herself forward, and slip into the water. Easy! Of course it wasn't perfect - it was never perfect first try - but Kalani one: didn't want to point it out, and two: she didn't know how. When Emma resurfaced, she laughed aloud and gave a double thumbs-up. She swam over to her, closing the distance, but as she was halfway there she got an idea.
Once the two were somewhat close, she dipped under the water. For a moment, she would be concealed by the water, before she burst out only a few inches from Emma. She had kicked off the bottom - it was pretty shallow where they were - and pushed herself all the way up. As she emerged, she pushed up a massive bit of water, re-soaking both herself and Emma in one fell swoop.
Once the splash - and any further splashing that happened afterwards as an aftermath - had settled into the water and calmed, she let out a loud laugh, beaming at Emma with all her crooked teeth. She clearly anticipated that Emma would splash back, already holding her hands up to block her face if the retaliation came.

Emma stopped midfield, partly shocked at the number of people still inside of the lake, none. Kalani surely wouldn't have deserted her, right? She couldn't have disappeared thirty seconds after flashing her a sign of good. It was nearly impossible to swim from the middle to the edge so quickly, and even when she had gotten out she should have seen her.
She didn't know how to react, she had been practically abandoned. The only thing to do was to drift around in the water, staring up at the sky that seemed to last forever. Perhaps she could work on diving by herself. Finally, it hit her. The Gryffindor hadn't left the lake, she was somewhere underneath the water, but where exactly, she had no clue.
The brunette hadn't called out her name, instead, she tried to brace for impact. Still, she had been too late, her face had been covered in the same water she had been swimming in. She let out a loud giggle before closing her eyes, despite the goggles strapped on to her face, and pushing her arms in the direction of Kalani.
"Hey!" The Ravenclaw began to splash rapidly. She hadn't been worrying about the wall Kalani had made with her arms, well, that is if she could have seen it. She dove underneath the surface head first and kicked her legs upward, trying to splash as much water as she could. A diving lesson had turned into a full-out water war.
