Opposite Forces

The world was covered in a light coating of white powder, as students walked around lazily. It was a Sunday, and it was snowing. It wasn't the first snow, per say, but it was the first one the Gryffindor noticed. He believed the first snow was somewhere in the last month, but whatever. Jay sat down, watching the flakes of white fly down onto the floor in front of him. It was peaceful, after quite a bit rushing to classes and learning new spells. Soon, it would be time to go back home for Winter Break, and he couldn't wait to see his parents after so long.
Peace was hard to get by in the lions common room, due to rumbustious students. Plus, it was near the holiday, so it was significantly louder in the warm room. December was a time of joy and family for most, so it was only natural that kids would be buzzing with excitement. The afternoon is the worst for him, as he is sensitive to loud noises. Thinking about that, Jay had never gone to a real party. Sure, there were the birthday parties of friends, but they were small.
He closed his eyes and sighed. He just had to wait until break, and then he can go back home. To his parents, and to his brother. It wasn't like he missed him or anything, but he did need someone to talk to. His brother was always non-judging of his problems, and even helped out. He was sure his brother missed him though. What a bozo.

Opposite Forces
Angeline walked out as she looked around, a small notebook in her hand. She looked at the snow and smiled softly to herself. She had always loved the snow, and winter in general. She had somehow manage to forget it was cold outside, and she wasn't really wearing much to keep herself warm. She had her usual robe and skirt. She would normally wear some heavy tights and whatever else she had packed. She was hella cold but she didn't mind, as she was used to it.
She put out her hand and watched as the soft snow landed on her hand. She soon started to remember that they would have to go home, which she wasn't really thrilled about.
She liked her family but she didn't really want to deal with her little brother. She did love him but she thought he was annoying and quite a handful. The young girl sighed softly as she thought about it. She lowered her hand and looked around, soon spotting Jay, her best friend.
She opened her robe and put the notebook in a small hole she had made as a pocket. She started to make her way over to Jay, a small smile plastered on her face.

[216 words]The air changed. It was a weird thing to say, but it did. Jay's eyes opened more from its half-opened position, and he looked around the open space. It was odd, but I didn't concern him that much. With no enemies, he didn't see the point of being scared. Plus, he could hold his own. Noticing the green colored girl, he tensed for a second. He had actual terrible eyesight, so he couldn't tell who it was. Just that she was a Slytherin. But, as she got closer, a light grin rests on his face. It was the smile that most no one saw. Usually, it was the 'popular smile', a smile he used that looked like he was a popular kid.
"Angeline! Nice to notice ya. What'cha doing out here, in only robes?" He tugged on the ends of his winter clothing as he lays back on the wall. It was cold, over here in Hogwarts. Colder than the duo's hometown, even when it was snowing. Maybe it was just where Hogwarts was placed? He didn't know nor care. "It literally below freezing, plus it's snowing like a blizzard." Jay loved to exaggerate things to its max. But since the beginning of this conversation, the snow has started coming down more then previously saw.

Opposite Forces
She stopped when she was in front of him, looking up slightly to stare at him. "I forgot that it was snowing, and I don't feel like going back inside just to change," she said with a small sigh. She had amazing eyesight, but she had a horrible memory. She put her hands in her pockets as she looked around at the snow. "I'm fine, I prefer the cold to the heat in any case," she shrugged before pulling out a small candy.
"How have you been?" she asked as she held out the candy for him to take. She would never tell him to take something; she would just expect him to. She had always done that, for no specific reason. She just did. She put her hand down once he took the candy.
She was shaking slightly as she slowly pulled the bottom of her robes closer to herself for warmth. She did like the cold, but this was a little too cold, even for her. She softly kicked the ground, not really knowing what else to do. She was always awkward, even when she's with Jay. And they've know each other practically all of their lives. She yawned softly as she looked down at the snow. She keeled down and grabbed a hand full.

[213 words]Jay laughed as he took the probably contraband candy. To get candy around here, you would need to either go to Hogsmeade, which first-years couldn't do, or sneak it in from home. Well, meals would probably be an option, but he didn't think of that at first. "To be honest, neither would I if I was in your position. Isn't your Common Room all the way in the dungeons?" Again, he chuckled with fake pity. He was just messing around with her, as he always did. It was nice for them to be talking again, even though they were in polar opposite houses. He honestly though she would've been sorted into Ravenclaw, but that's not the point.
"I'm alright, Angeline. School is school, even if it is a magical school. In Scotland." He stopped for a second, taking this in. "I just realized that we're in Scotland. Scotland. How did I not understand that?" Jay leans his head again, closing his eyes. He gave an annoyed grunt to the Scotland-ness of the school they have been living in for months now. Why oh why did Hogwarts have to be in Scotland? Not that he truly had anything against the place, it's just the fact it didn't sink in until Christmas time. "Aughhhh."
