Bloom was pulling and tugging out of the vines as much as she could. Breathing heavily, she finally got out of the vines and held onto her broom. However, she was not feeling herself at all. Bloom felt like she was going to pass out. NO, KEEP GOING, she said to herself, urging her body to keep going. Bloom held onto the broom handle as tight as she could, and she kept going as fast as she could.

Where was everyone?? Xailah typically didn't express much concern for an absence of racers nearby; but to be fair, she wasn't typically getting manhandled by a squid, and facing the potential threat of being dragged underwater, either.

The metamorph strained against the suction cups encapsulating her frame, bucking and wiggling in hopes of finding a weak point in the leviathans grasp. Nearing the water faster than before, she was sent into a frenzy.

Delta was proving to be truly remarkable- mild sarcasm aside. It was like the broom purposely sought out every obstacle on the course, just to pummel right into it. And- not only that- proceed to slip out of whatever entanglement it got it's racer in. Why go around, when you can go through, seemed to be todays motto. Oddly enough... the method was proving fairly effective. After all, Xailah was leading the race... at the moment.

Like it had done before, Delta would push through relentlessly, shimmying itself and it's rider out of the tentacles grasp... Only to have them immediately caught by another appendage shooting out of the water. Merlin, the squid was not holding back. What did it want with the Gryffindor anyway? Racer and broom sputtered, grating against the slimy hold, like an engine stalling. Come on, come on.

Where Ari's mind had told him he was in the clear, he definitely was not. He had struggled finding his bearings in the waterfall as well as finding his broom. He was now way behind in the race as the lions pushed on. He prayed there was some sort of hope for his team as he righted himself and put himself back in the race.

This was the worst race Marina had been in yet. She had only been in two so that really didn’t mean much. Maybe this was what most races were like. At least she had gotten used to being covered in pigeon poop, but she was still having a harder time dodging the obstacles compared to last time.

As if the higher entity heard her prayer, the boy came out of the maze still looking awesome. “YESSS!!” Aurora was ecstatic knowing that he was safe for now. But then she remembered what he did. The grunt and the lazy wave. Maybe it would be better if the maze kept him there for eternity for doing that.

As already mentioned, the boy's wand typically refused to do as he asked. He had participated in two races, and his wand had already failed him more than 50% of the time. Perhaps it was from all the attention or the amount of focus required to fly and cast spells at the same time. As he was blown away from his failed attempt at a simple umbrella, he could only clutch strongly in anger almost tempted to snap his wand in half at that very moment. Not yet, as he wasn't too blind to remember he'd need his wand to brew his potions. However, there was still a good chance that after this race, he was going to snap his wand and then throw it into the great lake for the great squib as a gift. For now, though, he could only let out an infuriating sigh and continue onward.

Frustration got the better of him, he would be the first to admit it. Well, the first to admit after prodding and a series of prying questions. So when the two younger students barreled through the maze together on their tandem broom, the former captain lashed out, slamming into them with as much force as he could muster. The site of them falling to the ground filled him with a renewed vigour and he expressed it with a leonine roar. He was not about to go and lose this god damn, bloody, shitting race! Mace be damned.

Blood drunk and angry, he shut his rational brain off and merely flew. Instinct, it seemed, lead him true, for soon after the blatch, Nicholas escaped from the maze. Ahead, he couldn't make out much, the fog was dreadful after all, but he knew that he was still in with a chance.
