Another round, another person down. Again, from his team. The brutality of the school full of half breeds was out of this world. The black rook snapped Nikolai’s neck, making Rodion feel the chill on his spine, not in a good way. The sight of him dropped on the floor in such an unusual position raised a question and worries in his head. Is he dead? It was different from Oksana and Rosella, both were clearly passed out with their necks still in their original place. But Nikolai… he was so young and sudden. Somehow he felt bad for placing the young boy in that place, making it easy for that black rook to take him down. Anyone could see the terror in his eyes. “You barbaric piece of shit” he’d mumble in Russian. Perhaps those Brits couldn’t understand it but it was clear that he was scared and irritated.

Percival felt like shit, most of his body hurt from the constant barrage of strikes coming his way. If it wasn't for Serena helping him stay protected who knows what condition he would have been in, it would have been a lie to say the goblin was doing badly. For now, she was proving all the pureblood elites wrong, including Percival himself.

Before long, another enemy piece came right at him and jabbed a lance hard into his side "Arghhh!" Gray yelped in agony, his head looking down to see blood dripping out of the wound soon after. However, if the enemy thought he was going to let him go that easy he was terribly mistaken "You know what!" Gray shouted loudly before suddenly swinging his shield around with brute force, smacking it off his forehead with a sickening clash. The blow was hard enough to force the young boy into a heap on the board, leaving him unnaturally spread out down below.

The pureblood grit his teeth and breathed heavily, almost admiring the handiwork he just did "Any more of you dare to hit me?!" Percival dared them, looking at each one with a smirk that showed a Percival who was relentless in gaining victory.

Another down, and in a brutal way. This game certainly wasn't without it's charm. Maksim couldn't help but grown at the fact that the down player was yet another of their own. He could feel his skin boiling, yet what was he able to do? Arrogant he was, but stupid he was not. He knew his place, and his role, and all he could do is protect his king, and to the best of his abilities, his teammates. Hearing his king shout in Russian, Maksim couldn't help but agree, filthy half-breeds only know one thing, and he would be damned if he let them taste victory! Looking off to his side, he noted Fyodor vulnerable. He looked over his shoulder, taking in everyone's placement.... he would still be able to keep Rodion save, and protect Fyodor, hopefully. Casting Toss Aside on Fyodor, Maksim planed to swap places, hopefully this wouldn't backfire, and be the move that could give his team a leg up.

Bloom couldn't help but to groan at the fact that she had missed her attack on Irina. She was at the perfect angle in aim, but she was not able to get her. Bloom looked at the other players and saw that most were successful in their round. Persing her lips, she looked down at herself in embarrassment. She either missed or had her spell backfire so far. She felt like she was a failure in front of her teammates. Bloom closed her eyes for a second and breathed in. When she breathed out, she grasped her joust tightly and opened her eyes, looking at the opponent.

XXXFedya was lifted and dropped, moving adjacent and watching the carnage from above. How this was all approved, he had no idea. He watched students drop, heads rolling back and bodies crumpling to the ground in unceremonious horror.

Fyodor wasn’t quite sure with how much he was enjoying this game or his decision to be involved in the tournament in the first place. There was no way out now, though, so he offered what he hoped looked like a reassuring smile to Nikolai (it likely looked more like a grimace).

Another student of the other school would quickly follow their friends' lead and drop to the ground unconscious as well. Alan did feel bad a bit about how brutally his friends would go through the other school's students without mercy. But such were the rules and expectations for the game and had they been just slightly older and more experienced, it might have been Hogwarts pulling the shorter straw. So overall he was a bit pleased, sensing victory in their grasp, just steps away from claiming said victory for their school in this first task of many... well three. He felt confident!

Kamila was not feeling as confident as she had been when they had started. There were multiple Koldovstoretz team members down, but not a single one person on the Hogwarts team had fallen, but there was still plenty of time left for Koldovstoretz to make a comeback. Hopefully that comeback happened soon.

It really was a steady up and down at this point, wasn't it? The repeated hits made Opeila panic just a little. She hated being pushed into a place where she had to defend herself, she preferred being the attacker by far. So that was where she would get back to, focusing the opponent King- if only the coward hadn't hid behind a knight.

Well, that was fine with her. Opeila didn't mind attacking one person twice, and again she was successful.
But again, she got too distracted. So distracted that she only realized the attack against her when it hit her. This wasn't good, oh no, it wasn't. The fourth year could feel that she had an open wound somewhere, blood was trickling down under the armor, but not enough to render her useless. She wasn't out yet.

And suddenly she felt as if some of her strength was returning. Opeila wouldn't turn, wouldn't allow herself to get distracted trying to find the source of her feeling better. No more mistakes.

There was no rest in this chess task, no moment to catch her breath. Irina was in all out war mode. She was right next to multiple awful Hogwartians and attacked them as they collectively attacked her. The goal was to not get knocked out and weaken as many of their team members as she could. Still fuming at the statement from Dealla, Irina waited for a response from the girl. It never came, but instead the boy she was attacking told her coldly to stop. Irina followed his eyes to the audience and saw the representatives from so many different ministries. Her words could impact her life.

That realization didn’t stop Irina from glaring the two of them down and even sending a quiet short aggressive remark of her own. “I could care less about myself or your sympathies. If you tell me what to think again” she directed at Dealla “especially when it relates to what I’ve been through, I swear I will enjoy every second of poising you”. Irina was in the special potions program at Koldovstoretz and would the make the most of it if she had to. On that note Irina refocused on the game at hand, she could poison the journalist later but now it was time to make a real impact.

Rooks

Rapid Defense: They defend another allied piece as their primary action. This action takes place before the movement phase and takes priority in the action phase over attacks made against a specified piece. Similar to defending in Quidditch where a user blocks an oncoming attack made by a specific target, attacks made against this piece would be relegated to this piece (regardless of the direction of attack). If another piece attempts to land in the space that the defender chose (a specific, declared space adjacent to the chosen target), a strength check is rolled. This piece has advantage on this roll. This action does not consume the pieces movement for the round, they can still move, but their movement is considered to be the last movement in the round according to the action stack.

@Howard White, the chosen champion would do nothing from behind his space on the checkered board. His allies would protect him and he would have to stand idly as his friends endured Koldovstoretz relentless assault. The Russian Team had dwindling numbers, but they had not given up yet. While Hogwarts had all of their (wo)men, some were on their last leg.

@Percival Grey was a meat shield. It was a role he played well, he knew how to take a beating and on occasion give one in turn. He needed to protect the Ravenclaw Queen, a desperate bid to maintain one of the most powerful pieces on the board.

Percival Performs Rapid Defense on Pericles. Move Percival from G7 to F6. Priority to defend against Irina's attack (if applicable) in the case there are multiple attacks against Pericles. Defend against all attacks to Pericles if possible.

Maksim Levin (@Monica Evans) would solidify his position in front of Rodion, the Koldovstoretz champion. Nobody was going to attack Rodion at this juncture, they were fortifying their own defenses at this point. He could breathe a breath of relief.

@Bloom Silverton was a greater danger to herself than she was to the other team. Yet she was tough, she had some spiffy armor and more than all of that, she had a boy to impress. With Howard's ex in the stands, the girl did have something to prove.

Bloom Casts Eagle Eye on White Knight Irina.

Explanation: Dealla has performed Hide Away on Bloom which moves Bloom from H5 to G5 which should put her in range of Irina.

Percival would be blasted by the girl and he would be subjected to a nightmare. He would see it, his failures. His weakness, his fragility, his indifference, culminating in the loss and death of those he tried so hard to protect. A waking nightmare that would only end when his actual strength finally failed as a result of the psychic assault.

@Serena Towers was still in range of Bloom. Her role, to keep her former friend, present girlfriend of the boy she also liked on her feet. It was not where the girl likely wanted to be. It was something that she probably did not want to do. What other choice did she have? Well, none that seemed more attractive.

Explanation: Dealla's Hide Away has pushed Bloom from H5 to G5 which should put her in position (G5) to receive Benediction from Serena.

Bloom was just out of her reach, she might even extend her hand and try to grant the Ravenclaw he blessing only to find she was not able to reach her.

@Alan Banes was at Pericles' side. The Queen had been battered badly, he would see Percival rush in front of the Ravenclaw. Perhaps together they could withstand the threat of the opposing school.

The Gryffindor would cast a blessing of his own. Together they could fortify and defend their Queen. The longer they attempted to take down their Queen, the more time their attention was diverted from Howard White, their champion. Right now they had the advantage of numbers but that might not be for much longer.

Kamila Yavlinsky (@Marina Oriel) saw an opportunity in Pericles. He was badly hurt, she might be able to take him down and nerf the power of Hogwart's offense. Others on her team were thinking the same thing. Percival stood between Kamila and her target, but Irina has just taken him out. Percival laid on the floor, prone and unmoving.

Fyodor would see the same thing Kamila did -- Pericles, their Queen would hurt and they would make an opportunistic attack.

Hide Away: The King must save himself, he hides behind an adjacent allied piece and takes half damage (the piece they are hiding behind also takes half damage). Damage is not healing or buffs, it is just damage. Evasion here would be a separate roll for both the King (for their half) and the piece that they are hiding behind. This action occurs during the action phase which is before the movement phase, but has priority (meaning it happens before attacks, so an attack may not be possible or may be redirected towards another piece that is now "in the way.") The space is chosen by the King and must be adjacent to an allied piece. If the space is occupied, there would be a contested strength check to determine who will remain in this space unless the adjacent piece is an ally in which case a contested check is not needed. This is action can be done in addition to the movement phase.

@Dealla Prince was not a source of power any longer. It was too dangerous, empowering enemies if they dared to be within range. Rather than cast Regal Aura, she would instead protect Howard's girlfriend from harm.
